Heather: Thanks for letting us know about Michele's situation. My heart breaks for her in regards to her situation with her son, and now to fall and break her cheekbone is horrible. Thanks for the suggestion about sending her a message.
CSSJ09: My doctor was not receptive to my questions about falling lessons. He wants me to take medications that will cause increased bone density. I'll pursue the medication, but I really think the falling lessons are also a good idea. :flowerforyou: Congratulations on scheduling riding lessons! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
Yoga today! I'm such a rebel. I will continue to baby my wrist and that means I'll need to modify some poses, and skip others. Today's teacher is good about helping me make some of the modifications to protect my wrist and still get the yoga benefits.

February Resolutions :
1. Log every bite and swallow.
2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week. Work on flexibility and back strength.
3. Have fun every day.
4. Drink at least three glasses of water daily, preferably more!
5. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.
Goals
1. Find a place I can learn to fall without getting hurt once my doctor says it is ok to try.

Stronglifts Workout
Squats-1X5X 65/75/85/95/105/115, 5X5X 120
Sumo squats-5X5X105
0HP-1X5X 45/50/55, 5X5X 60
BP-1X5X 65/70/75, 5X5X 80
BR-5X5X 85
DL-1X5X 150
I have to laugh at myself for not being able to add correctly! I thought I was going to increase my weight on the squats today to 125 and after I was done I realized that I needed to add five more pounds! I guess that it has to be my goal for next time now.

Becca I love the drawing! If you didn't win what did the winning picture look like?

Sylvia what kind of drafting do you do? So glad to see that your coop is working out - I bet having other artists around will inspire all of you.0

A quick update on Michele. The Skype session didn't go well and Michele has had a fall and broken her cheekbone. I'll let her tell you the details. I messaged her as exermom if you want to send a message. Feeling sad for her.

I have a question: DH has found out his knee problems are due to arthritis and I would like to know how any of you may have dealt with this. Right now he just saw the specialist for the first time and she is not recommending surgery but the NSAID cream and physical therapy. The poor guy cannot walk much -- has been taking oral NSAID for a couple of months now. If someone is at the point where walking is painful will the cream be enough or do you think he might be in need of the injections? All new territory for us...and of course, being a guy he does not ask all the right questions.

Betty My DH just found out he has torn miniscus (sp?) as well as arthritis on the knee. He will get a cortisone shot and physical therapy but the doc tells him that surgery could be in his future! Karen0

Betty, I was diagnosed with bone on bone arthritis in my knees at age 50 (almost 8 years ago). The orthopedic surgeon told me no exercise but swimming and he was dead wrong. My pain got worse and worse so I was barely doing anything. A year ago I started working with a physical therapist. He said that it is important to build the muscles that protect the joints. So we have been doing a lot of strength training exercises. And my pain has lessened considerably so that I am able to do much more than I was before. So, tell him that he needs to work HARD to build the muscles and to keep active. I have never had the injections. NSAID creams, heat when it aches and ice when I overdo. I do take Ibuprofen when it is so bad I cannot sleep, or I am snapping at the kids because I hurt so bad. I won't say I don't have pain every day, but it is at a manageable level.0

Betty ~ I had the cortisone shots and later injections in one knee. They both worked for a few weeks but then not so much. I find that trying to keep active helps plus watching my weight. Alleve is really good when the weather changes.0

Did a LOT of writing this morning! :drinker: Feels good.
This afternoon we went to a local shopping mall to exchange the soda syphon cylinders. We use it every day. Also bought muesli, popping corn and lots of groceries. It's in a town that is quite depressed economically. Quite a comparison to Winchester etc. Everything feels like it has seen better days and the multi storey car park is multi depressing. Fortunately even the ticket machines had broken down so we got free parking!
Came back and ordered a silicone popping thing for the microwave. Also some miso soup and seaweed.
Tonight is mushroom risotto. I still have some truffle pieces left from before. Yum! Having it with asparagus.
KJ - I am going on a cruise to Norway and Penny's islands in the Arctic Circle this June. There is no need at all to speak Norwegian, but I love languages and prefer to have the basics in my armoury, just so I can enjoy making an effort. It is important to me that I make the right sounds, hence using Utube. It doesn't sound always as it looks, so just reading out of a phrase book doesn't work. One good thing is that Norwegian isn't conjugated. One less thing to learn! I will be lucky if I get any chance to practice when I'm there, but I can be quite determined to have a go, ploughing on even when my listener is talking back to me in English! That quite often happens!
Love to all. Heather UK0 -

Love and hugs to Michelle.
Today's workout: 2.7 miles on elliptical, 9 different upper body exercises (shoulders), 3 sets of 15 each. I can't even remember them all. One was the regular arm machine, two on the Smith machine, assisted pull-ups (maybe?), something called around the world (I think), something lying on your back on a weight bench bringing one weight from abdomen back over your head and back ( I really need to learn the names), a tree hugging thing (between two pulleys - you pull the weights toward you like you're hugging a tree), and I cannot remember the rest. Total time for workout: an hour and 45 minutes.
I'm heading to Nashville early tomorrow morning so will miss two days of my class. Bummer! I'm going to try to do some exercises in my hotel room without weights. I think I can manage a few things to work my butt on Thursday and my arms on Friday. I can bring my yoga mat with me.

Betty - I have arthritis in my knees. The orthopedist surgeon that repaired my torn meniscus said that I should/would never walk for exercise again and should avoid steps. Well, up until my shoulder surgery last summer I was walking four miles for exercise plus a few more miles just in general walking every day and could run up and down steps. That's not to say that I don't take ibuprofen sometimes--especially when the weather changes--but losing weight has made a world of difference.0
-
NSV today - at the shopping mall I walked up 5 flights of stairs carrying two heavy bags and I was only a little out of breath.
DH said I was a genius as my risotto was so fabulous. And only 400 calories each. No need to starve yourselves ladies, or eat boring, unappetising food. I agree with Becca - the secret lies in loving every mouthful. Then you don't feel deprived and want to binge. :noway:
Love to all, Heather UK
PS Penny - on Friday there is a programme called "Earth's Greatest Spectacles" about the coming of spring in Svalbard. I will record it as I conflicts with one of my favourite detective series, Shetland, but will watch it avidly on Saturday. :drinker:0 -

GREAT JOB!0 -
Hello everyone: Hope your day has started out well. Mine has even though we are back to clouds and rain here. Doing well on food, have gotten back to not eating anything after dinner and I already have some exercise in. I am nervous about going to doctor appointment tomorrow, brand new doc. That is one of the really difficult things about moving, giving up my medical team in SD and having to find all new doctors.
Kim - I think a large part of multi-tasking is planning and yes it depends where your main focus is. I found it interesting though that the Myth Busters did a segment on multi-tasking and found that in general women are much better at it than men.
Betty - Had arthritis in knees and used glucosamine, NSAIDs and exercises from the PT on the advice of the orthopedist. Eventually used gel injections and had good luck with those for about three years then the knee became unstable and I had replacement surgery in 2004 and 2007. If weight is an issue weight loss definitely helps.
So sorry for poor Michele. Hope she is better soon but nice to know what is going on with her.
Sending healing angels to all that need them and congratulations to those with victories. Sue in WA0 -

Swam 50 laps this morning. Now am sitting by the fire taking it easy. I'm closing in on a few jobs with final interviews next week, so I'm feeling optimistic. I haven't had time to get bored yet and think I could get used to not working. 5 more years!

So sorry about Michele and her cheek. Wonder how she did it. What kind of therapy do you have to do for a fracture like that? Surgery, just Mother Nature? If you are reading, get better quickly but don't push yourself.
Has snowed off and on for the past two days but i would imagine we only have an inch. Since we are in a bi-level, we are always the last to loose our snow.
Started to do my taxes yesterday afternoon. Singed into Free Tax Usa like I do every year and it wouldn't accept my username/password. They always upload all info from the previous year but I had to create a brand new account. I had clicked on the 'don't remember password' and in order for me to get it sent to me I had to answer the security questions correct. One question, every logical answer didn't work so create a new account. So I did that, wrote down the username and password and all 3 security questions and answers. When I went back to it later, it wouldn't accept it again. So if I want to still got with Free Tax, I have to create a new account again. Pulling my hair out and I can't afford to do that. Also my banks site won't accept my old password. That's how I pay my bills.
/well back to the desk top for taxes so I can see how much money we owe state of Indiana

Good morning. Another day here we go. Tonight I am starting a new Bible class for women that is about 8 weeks long. I took the first part last year and now they are doing the second. I am looking forward to it as last time had fun. This one is called (When the crown breaks).
Katla--Your riding sounds like such a good thing. Glad you are enjoying it. I also find it interesting that the doctor says horse riding is ok, yoga not.
Sylvia--What a speical thing you did for Bernice you are such a caring person. Proud to call you my friend.
Becca--Glad you are in such a good place right now, it has been a lot of work and you deserve it.
Barbie--Good for you with the doctor. Hope the news is good.
Heather--Thanks for the update on Michele and I did send her a message.
Happy dance as I am back caught up. Prayers for everyone and remember we are not in this alone.

The winning drawing 2015. Amazing huh!0 -
Kimses in MA~Great swimming! I have been taking a break from the laps, and just heading to the 'warm pool' and stretch, doing aqua aerobics. Tomorrow I will take the water zumba class, so look forward to that!

Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE~ Thanks for the encouragement friend! Today I lost 1.5 lbs at my TOPS meeting, so feeling good about that! My lowest weight is posted here, because I use my morning scale weight. I am nude so, can't do that at TOPS....well I could but they would be yelling and screaming at me! Once I started weighing in my swimming suit, and they said that wasn't legal. It has to be clothes you would wear specifically for that season.

CCSJ - wow that dress and figure are awesome. Know you feel really good inside when you wear that fashion. I've heard that if a woman wears a pretty tiara and a cape, she can rule the world. Same goes for that black and white vision. Enjoy.
The other day while husband and I were walking about our little town, we saw the postlady. She had on her US Post office official Cape on. She said she has the US Post Office official knee high socks too! It was windy so her cape was flying! Too cute!

Forgetfulness - A mind is a terrible thing to lose. Can someone tell me where to go to put in my weight and other measurements? Seems like I need to write this down. Never seem to be able to find it. Thanks.
