    I'm in again, I'll go for 500 km this month. Hopefully monsoon season ends soon as the winds here are getting dangerous and I can't do the coastal routes so on heavily trafficked inland roads.

    Back on MFP after several months away. Need to tighten things up so I don't gain back the weight I've lost.

    After a few years of bike commuting, I took up winter biking last March. So far so good this winter here in Minneapolis. Unfortunately we got quite a bit of snow last week that melted over the weekend and is now frozen into inconvenient ice ruts along various bike paths. Thank God for studded tires! A bit of a slower start in February, going for 2 days a week, hopefully more.

    Feb 3 - snow storm, thought I'd try biking in but the city didn't have the path plowed in the morning, so I waffled through the snow for a few miles then got on the train. Paths were relativity clear in the afternoon. 9.5 miles
    Feb 5 - Paths were still pretty rough post snow, had to get off and walk my bike through snow piles and crud every few minutes, especially at intersections. 15 miles
    Feb 10 - A nippy -10 windchill in the morning. Ice ice everywhere, but I stayed upright! 15 miles.

    Monthly total - 39.5 miles
    Yearly total - 218

    New to MFP and glad to see a cycling thread! I am very much a fair weather rider. I grudgingly set my bike up on the trainer a couple of weeks ago and have slowly been grumbling out some miles. Any recommendations on how to log mileage on a trainer? Is there a computer I can get? When wheels are on the road I typically use MapMyRide....but it doesn't do much when you're pedaling nowhere fast! :p

    @AmandaDanceMore - I also use MapMyRide. I create a manual log entry. Just the bare basics of date, total distance, total time. I still want it to show in my total for the year is the reason why I do this.

    I love cycling! I never visit the MFP threads but I am glad I did. Not sure if there is something other then posting that I need to do to join the challenge. But looking at last month I did 303 miles so this month my goal will be 300 miles between out door riding and Zwift riding on my trainer. I am currently at 133.63 miles for February. Oh and @AmandaDanceMore I use a Garmin 520 with the speed, cadence and heart censor on my trainer and out door to track my rides. I have noticed a big improvement since I have started to use it.

    @Delirium8413 Thanks! I will look into it. I have an ancient old very basic computer, but it's dead, and I haven't really cared with all the apps available. But apps are useless for riding indoors, it seems.

    Depends on the app. With a Ant+ dongle the possibility opens up and you can use most apps. Bluetooth enable sensors are anther way to go but to get multiple sensor to work (speed, cadence, heart rate, & power), I think you need a bridge also.

    I use IpBike which does almost everything that a Garmin Edge can do. You need a phone with an Ant+ radio (Samsung Galaxy, Sony Xperia, etc) or an Ant+ dongle, and Ant+ sensors. (On Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus10, HTC One M7, & LG G2, you would need Ant+Enabler app to activate the Bluetooth chip with ANT+ feature. Samsung Galaxy S4/5/6 should workout of the box as long as it on android 4.3 and up.) Apple is not supported.
