    I am not sure if this is the correct place to post. I have a good bike. I tried using it about a year ago and got such terrible butt burn from it..
    how do you get over that? I would like to cycle, when I was younger it's how i got all my exercise in.. but the last couple times I've tried to ride after not riding for years it hurt so much on the saddle.

    How can I get back into cycling?

    How long are your rides? I started getting back into riding by going less than a mile/day. I also got a new seat for my bike - the fuller saddle seat with good springs. (Tried a gel seat cover first and that didn't really help.) I find that as I ride, I slip a little toward the front of the saddle, so I make sure to adjust my rear end to the back every so often.     7/2 - 5 miles outside.
    7/3 - Rest day.
    7/4 - 0
    7/5 - 3 miles stationary.
    7/6 - 5 miles outside, where it was only 77 degrees and cloudy.
    7/7 - 3.2 miles stationary.
    7/8 - 3 miles outside.
    7/9 - 0
    7/10 - 5 miles outside after a storm.
    7/11 - 5.2 miles outside. I was bitten by a dog on today's ride. Not bad, but I had to pedal really hard when two dogs came after me. Cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and I should be fine. One of the dogs on my old bike route was killed today because it bit somebody (I had to change routes because two dogs kept trying to bite me). We have leash laws, but people don't seem to care.
    7/12 - 0
    7/13 - 5.6 miles outside.
    7/14 - 5 miles outside in between the downpours.
    7/15 - 4 miles outside. Half way through the month and just not quite half way to my goal.
    7/16 - 6 miles outside.
    7/17 - 0
    7/18 - 7 miles outside.
    7/19 - 7 miles outside.
    7/20 - 7 miles outside for the third day in a row. Woot. But unlike the other two days, today was during the heat of the day. Not good for me. Dusk is much better.
    7/21 - 2 miles outside. Short ride since it was already dark out and I mowed too.
    7/22 - 0
    7/23 - 7 miles outside after the storms passed. Nice and cool. Though muggy.
    7/24 - 7 miles outside between thunderstorms. I'm getting good at reading radar. :) There's a 100 mile ride going on here Saturday. I'll be happy to get my 100 miles for the month. The ride goes almost right by my house but I won't be up in time to cheer them on.
    7/25 - 0 (mowed instead)


    MTD 92 miles.
    Goal is 100 miles.
    Remaining is 8 miles.

    Padded bike shorts are a life saver. Eventually your butt will get better and better with the pain and you will be able to do longer and longer rides. Just start off small and work your way into longer rides.

    As of today, I am at 92.67 miles. I was without a bike for 2 weeks, so I will have more next month.

    I didn't know about MapMyRide.com. I really like it. I don't use a cell phone so I don't have any apps. MapMyRide looks really good for my needs.

    Mapmyride.com is awesome! I (guiltily) use it to map out routes that are relatively flat if I'm having a lazy day :p

    265 out of a 310 mile target so far - I want to average 10 miles a day this month and should do that no problem. I'm planning a long ride (30 miles +) tomorrow, have been lucky with the weather too.

    20 miles today for a monthly total of 145.5. Only 4.5 to make my goal of 150.

    I didn't know about MapMyRide.com. I really like it. I don't use a cell phone so I don't have any apps. MapMyRide looks really good for my needs.

    I love MapMyRide, it's great! I use the website to either plan a route or work out the distance after I've cycled it, or sometimes I use their app to track my ride in real time :smile:

    So I just saw this thread :) Hope there is one every month! Anyway, here is mine for the month. Unfortunately not many miles as I had a vacation in the middle of the month that left me without a bike which meant jogging during that 8 days.

    I am trying 10 miles / day average this month. Last month, I had 421 miles, so this month is a bit of down.
    I do bike commute, and add a few miles here and there to keep it up to 10 miles / day average.

    I have 67 miles to go and 5 and 1/2 day left in July. I did come in with bike this morning, so I will add at least another 7 miles this afternoon. So, I'm a little behind schedule so to speak. I may try to catch up this weekend if weather permits.

    7/22- 11 miles (50 mins)
    7/23- 14 miles (60 mins)
    7/25- 9 miles (40 mins) raised resistance for half of the ride
    7/26- 13.5 miles (61 mins) managed to go the whole ride on the new resistance level, pretty happy with that =)

    7/26 - 0 again today since I mowed more and did other yard work. Tomorrow morning, the local century ride goes almost through my front door. I'll be sleeping, but I wish them all well. :)

    12.5 miles today brings my total to 158 miles. Achieved my goal of 150 miles. :happy:
