Hi, I was on this site a couple years ago then got off track. Tried WW but didn't like the points system so back on MFP. Have logged in 85 days now and have lost 12lbs. Hope to stay motivated and loose another 20lbs. Would love to be part of your group.

Well Calefor, you already are. :-) Just log in, (many of us log in every day) ask questions, and whine and boast, and we oogle over grandkids pics, and pet pics.

Just click on the star that is in line with "women ages 50+ for march 2016 and it will turn yellow. Then every time you wish to log into our thread its located way up right (next to the bell, and the flower thingy) in line with the title of Message boards>Motivation and Support. Then you don't have to hunt for us.

Again welcome. Please end your thread with your name and where you are from.

My first holiday totally by myself. Has been a pretty rough day. Only good thing I have been eating better than I would have otherwise. This day can't be over soon enough for me.

    Anne from Wisconsin

Those milestones are rough, especially the first ones. I didn't think my empty nest would actually be empty until my ex left. Then I panicked a little thinking that it would be. Now it looks like my daughter may be staying at home while she goes to college, at least for a couple of years. I'm ok with that!

Sending you hugs and hope for a better tomorrow.

Mary: Will see you in August. Take good care.

Pip: How does the new bike feel? Bet you LOVED your ride in the wind.

Anne: Glad you are eating better. Day at a time...

Michele: So sorry all plans went up in smoke. Hope you are able to get everything stored for the next get together.

Beautiful warm day today, despite there still being snow on the ground. I cooked a roast pork loin, mashed sweet potatoes and little eggplant/egg muffins. I got in a big workout so I could enjoy a glass of bordeaux

Stay well. We can do this.

Barbie I am thrifty also but I finally figured out that the reason I kept getting poison ivy -even though I stayed firmly away from any known location- was because I may have transmitted it to me via the old gloves. New gloves are lots cheaper than all the co-pays for treatment.

Anne They feel great too. However, they no longer look quite so clean...
Only a few more hours of the holiday and then you can congratulate yourself for making it through on target and without a major meltdown. Quite an achievement.

Lora Congratulations on staying on track while in the land of barbeque. (although I imagine that North Carolinians and Texans might argue about the choice of meat or sauce). Did you visit any music venues?

Hi all! I started my day by keeping nursery at my main church job since my daughter (who usually does it) is sick. She was so "angry" when I sent pictures to show her that I had THREE infants today. The church has mostly an older congregation so not too many babies usually come around. And, get this! I had twin boys named Solomon and Samson and a girl named Charlie. It was fun. I logged 60 minutes of light housekeeping to account for 120 minutes of baby wrangling.

My daughter's doctor used to attend our church and Katherine babysat her kids (I had them in nursery at church) so Katherine is not just a typical patient. Krichna (doctor) called Katherine from Florida this morning to tell her that the labs showed that she has mono. For the THIRD time!! She is sooo sick!

I dropped off my son at our church on my way to work this morning. I had planned on picking him up afterwards to take him home. He finally called at 12:20 to ask where I was. Phil rarely lets the service run late but it was 12:30 before he finished up today! I had been wondering if he would have to preach sitting in a chair with a barf bucket beside him because of the vertigo but they said he did it all as usual. I went in the sanctuary for just a minute after the service--just in time to see him trip coming down the steps from the pulpit. Scared everyone!! Anyway, my ex picked up my son and he has been to Grammy's for Easter lunch and should be on his way home from a hockey game now.

It has been dreary and raining here all day.

I go to see my new retina specialist tomorrow. Not looking forward to all the dialation and probing but will be glad to get it over with.

On Thursday it is time for my six month oncologist visit, complete with mammogram. Those visits really make me anxious. I've had one normal mammogram since 2012 so I live this last week before the appointment being terrified.

I hope everyone has had a good day!

Barbie: Congratulations on programming your garage door opener. In the Pacific NW, that is a very nice asset.

Penney: I'm glad you conquered the virus and are back with us.

    Mary:

Irish Terri: You share awesome graphics! Thanks! :flowerforyou:

    Calefor: Welcome!

I had heartwarming news from my kids yesterday. Our son and daughter-in-law stopped in the town where our daughter lives and shared a meal during their cross-country move. I'm still tearing up because it makes me so happy. They even sent pictures. They have since arrived in the DC area and will start house hunting asap. They've got neighborhoods and specific houses chosen to look at already.

Yesterday also included a promotion for me from my riding instructor. She says I'm not a beginner anymore!!! WAHOO!!!! 66 years old, and no longer a beginner!!! Persistence pays. Now I need to dig in and get better at riding. My real goal is to be both skilled & competent. I don't care if it takes a while. We went out to dinner for our anniversary celebration, so it was a wonderful day from beginning to end.

It has been relatively quiet today. We just shared dinner and are listening to longtime favorite music.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening, Ladies,

Katla, I hate to hear that the dingy may have bit the dust. confused.gif I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Especially since you aren’t sure ya’ll will be able to enjoy the sail boat this year. Glad you will enjoy your riding lesson no matter what they have you do today. That is such a great attitude!!!

Larisa, if you have dating info it’s about time to start sharing!!! Some of us are just nosey ole women, ya know? 

Janetr, you should count yourself lucky that Jack is a “Jack of all trades”. My DH is so good at so many things but he is not “Mr Fit It”. In fact more often than not, I’m the one to fix things around the house. I have put on a new garbage disposal and replaced the insides to a toilet but that is the extent of my pluming abilities. I’m the one that has always had to assemble things from the time we were married. DH traveled the first 15 years we were married so he often wasn’t even at home when something needed doing. Last summer he did some work on our wooden mailbox post and it looks terrible. I’d have done a much better job but then as a Realtor for 14 years, I saw a lot more repair work being done. Bigger jobs we have to pay someone to do. As it turns out, the handyman didn’t come today but called to reschedule to Monday.

Heather, yes, you definitely might want to be able to say that your glass is empty. LOL

KJ, sorry about your Uncle but at least he didn’t have to suffer a long time if this was the first diagnosis.

Margaret, what absolutely beautiful flowers. Gosh ya can’t help but be cheered up when looking at them. Thanks for sharing.

Kimses, glad you are adjusting to new work schedule. Those things do take time. Hope your new walking buddy works out. Keep up the good work.

Mary, you have done soooo well with your exercise. Thanks for the cartoon…I love it. I love to laugh!! And Janetr, you know there was a “pun intended” when you “cracked up”. Lol

Pip, you never cease to amaze me. Cool beans to jump on a moving tread mill at such a speed. I just wish once in a while you would challenge yourself or something. wow-smiley-emoticon.gif

Allie, so glad you got to go to the Cape and had a good time. Where is your DSIL getting married? I love beach weddings.

Joyce, smiley-laughing001.gif at you telling Allie she should take the goose home to squawk at Tom.

Melinda, welcome. This is a great place for support and information. Please tell us a bit more about yourself to help us get to know you. Come often and join right in. It helps us respond if you sign each post with your name and location as some of us have memory issues. smiley-laughing003.gif

CarolNC, it must have been nice to hear from the guy you dated last summer. Why do we always assume the worst when anything happens in our lives? blushing-smiley-emoticon.gif Next time try to think positive cause you are great!!! (((Hugs)))

Kay, I’d love to hear one of your sermons. I’m sure they are good. Your Easter sounds lovely and peaceful.

Katla, how nice that DS and DDIL stopped to have lunch with DD while driving across country. What a compliment that you “aren’t a beginner” any longer. You go girl!

Larisa, thanks for the first installment of “Larisa finds a man”. LOL It would be nice if you turned out to be “The One” for each other but if not it’s always interesting to meet new people. Thanks for sharing.

Becca, so as to not be confused some of us type “d&*b s%#@” of a person. And the D in DS, DH, DD can always be for words other than “dear”. Dumb, darn, etc are just examples. The one that gets me is when people try to identify which son or daughter and for DIL will use DNL which takes me a minute to figure out. I have to admit once I got used to it, it does make typing a little faster at times.

Rori, how cool that your exercise room got a new piece of equipment just when you needed it.

Kim, enjoy your dinner tomorrow with friends.
MicheleNC, I got a bit confused about who was going to your house, when? But home you had a good Easter.

Traci, welcome. I hope we don’t get you sweatin’ from being with us. This is a great group for support and information. Please always sign your posts or we may never remember your name. lol Cool that you got the Fitbit synced and hope it helps. Come often and feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Mary, OMG we will miss you!!! We only want the best for you so please take care and heal quickly. (((((Hugs))))

Penny, sorry you’ve been under the weather but glad you are on the mend.

Allie, nice outfit for Ruth and good picture.

Lucy, welcome. Please tell us a bit about yourself to help us get to know you. Come often and join right in. Congrats on your loss and good luck on the journey.

CJ, pretty gloves. That should make ya want to get out and garden. It’s nice to share your bounty!!

Anne, sorry it was a hard day for you but congrats on making it through.

Pip, nice bikes. I’m with Janetr…I don’t think you ever mentioned anything about riding in the wind. Or were we talking about riding like the wind?? Who knows???

welcome.gifto any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.

Hi to all I missed or didn’t comment on. I do hope you all had a good weekend and are looking forward to a new week ahead. It rained on and off all day so I never went out of the house. Tired now and heading to bed. Will try again in the morning for the handy man. Sending good thoughts for all of you and wishing you each a healthy and happy day. happy-spring-smiley-emoticon.gif

Where did the time go today? Did 45 minutes of Leslie Sansones' Walk Pilates DVD. Interesting. The plan for tomorrow is to do a bit of yoga, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class

Made these ginger bars today and then some chicken for later in the week.

No mahjongg tomorrow so I'll just go to ceramics.

Jess' tire was bulging out so she took Vince's Outlook to go to the lady who is making her outfit. Vince agrees that it's not safe to drive at high speed (like on an interstate) so she took the Outlook back with her. She'll bring it back next weekend because Vince wants it for the following weekend to drive me up to VA for the shower for the gal I'm making the wedding cake for.

Mary - you'll be missed very much, but thanks for telling us. I've never heard of electronics having an effect on medicine. Take care of yourself. We know that you'll be continuing to exercise as much as you can

    Welcome everyone new.

Going to make this short as I'm really tired. Guess this company thing is taking its toll on me.

Finished the first beaded banner now starting on the second one (I have 4 to make)

    CJ - love the gloves

Penny - so glad you're better now

Rori - she wound up come in the end. I just unfroze things and utilized the microwave a lot.

Tomorrow is going to be real crazy. We need to go to bowling eary since they're having a "hot dog & hamburger" lunch. Actually, when she announced it I asked if they'd be upset if I brought something since if I had hot dogs or hamburgers I'd get sick. Well...not really sick, I just wouldn't feel good at all. So I have my veggie burger ready to take, some carrots and a clementine for dessert.

The ride on the new bike was noticeably different. It felt good, EXCEPT FOR THAT DAMN WIND!!!!!!

That brunch was my only meal today, I don't even feel hungry now (7:13pm PST). Reservations were at 9:30am

I think thins one has a couple more gears than the other bike which is cool. Now gotta clean up the other bike so I could sell it.

    Nite peeps

Hi, I'm new and want to lose 50 pounds by September 1, 2016.

    Here are my current goals:

Log 5 miles on fitbit daily
Stationary bike - 1 min more per day until I hit 20 minutes. I'm at 10 minutes now.
Finish Marie Kondo's process for de-cluttering (The Life Changing Process of Tidying Up)
Drink 2-3 cups green tea a day. Add more healthy teas if not seeing progress.
    Lose 9 pounds this month

    Suzy
. Suzy I think you may have too ambitious of a goal. 1-2 pounds a week is reasonable more then that may not be attainable then you get discouraged and give up. Change and weight loss is journey one step at a time.

Hi. I am 53 and I would really like to join this group. I have been on and off MFP for a few years. But I am only just starting to use the social side of it. Ready other people's success and strugles reminds me that I am not alone and not a complete failure when I don't succeed. I am 5'5" and weigh 11st 2lbs. I would like to weight 10st for July 2016. And assess if I want to@ reduce to 9st 7lbs (my recommended weight). It is nearly the end of March now but my goals are
Log everything I eat and drink
3 cups of green tea a day
Zumba one weekly until end of April then I can go twice a week.
Make healthier choices, and prepare my lunches.
    Thai chi once weekly.
    Hope you will have me

Margaret gorgeous flowers - can't wait for everyone's gardens to show like that along the streets.

Allie you're right that was a Maxine cartoon. I couldn't remember the name the other day.

Meg I hope you get relief for your back and hips soon - muscle spasms are so painful and debilitating

Anne I love seeing you on here and am proud of how far you have come!

    Pip wonderful news about Kirby!

I am so far behind again - needed to just get away from the computer for awhile. One of my granddaughters is visiting for a couple of days. I haven't seen her or her sisters for well over a year (they live near Portland, OR) and my has she grown - she must be at least 5'10" or taller - and she is only going to be 14 in June. There are 3 girls also my son's children and the boys' sisters (not same mom though).

So much has gone on since I took a break but I cannot respond to all. Know though that you are all in my thoughts daily and grieve with those who are grieving, say prayers for those who are hurting, and celebrate with those who are celebrating.

    Love to all,

Good morning! Happy Monday! Up a little earlier than normal (4am) and out for a walk by 4:30. Only 2 miles; I am trying to keep my walks short for a while to stave off the foot problems. No more back to back 5 milers, no matter how beautiful the day is... Got in my "five for one" work out. Today I chose: Superman pose- one minute hold, dead bug- one minute hold, bridge- one minute hold with twenty second pulse, plyo squats- one minute, and lateral lunges- one minute. Plank for two and a half minutes. My 5:30 kiddo arrived on time, ate some breakfast and is now sleeping on the couch!

Yesterday was pretty quiet. DH started on a new (to him) drug for his RA and he developed flu like symptoms. We called the doc and he didn't seem super concerned; just told us to keep an eye on the symptoms and if they get worse to have him go in to the doc today. He is taking Methotrexate. Any one have any knowledge or experience with this one? He is also on prednisone (steroid). DYS had to work from 9:00-6:00, off to work he went in a blue stripe dress shirt and a pink bow tie (that I had to tie for him-thank God for youtube videos). He's going to look like an easter egg once he gets his orange apron on (yes, he works at home depot). He did the Easter dinner grilling when he got home, as he promised and dinner turned out great! Tilapia, shrimp, chicken breasts (for non-seafood eating dad), potatoes, corn, cabbage, red onion, portabellos, cauliflower, and pineapple. All I had to do is slip marinades on stuff and bake a pie! This was the first major cooking son has done (age 22). He enjoyed himself and plans to cook at least one dinner a week! Yea for me! One night of not cooking!

Pip - love the new bike! Looks like you and Kirby had a great day!
Carol- Hats off to you and your "adventures in datingland". Being married has truly been the hardest relationship I have ever had and I am not sure I would even want to jump into the dating pond, if the need ever arose in my life.
Heather - I hear you on the gardening. You do whatever and however much you want. It is funny how we can get all excited about gardening, spring, or other projects; then due to other things going on in life, our energy to do some things just gets zapped. You are absolutely correct in thinking "one year off won't kill you...".
Penny- Good to see you back! Hope you are feeling better soon!

Welcome new ladies! Sending love and hugs to all who need them! Special big hug for you Anne, holidays and sometimes normal days in an empty nest are hard. Sounds like you made it through with out sabotaging your health choices. If we lived closer, you would have been more than welcome at my house!

    Morning!

Horrible storms last night. Our dog, Pokey was a mess. Of course she will sleep it off all day as we humans go about our business.

Busy week for my husband. Skype interview with Radford University today, phone interview with Ohio Northern University tomorrow and he has an on campus interview at Virginia Commonwealth University on Thursday. That's the one we want as we have family living in Richmond and our daughter is moving there in a few months.

    Later,

    Cheri
