Seriously tho, I’ve have had great luck catching the little vermin in small live traps with peanut butter.
No getting out of it.

I gotta laugh or else I'll drive myself crazy wondering where all the critters are crawling while I'm sleeping.
I do the same as you, but I put the pb on a squished up tidbit of bread. I think I use too much though and the mice just sit there nibbling happily.
