Detoxes are just the latest diet fad.

Tried it once, lost a lot of weight and then gained it all back and then some. Eating a balance mix of foods in healthy portions, consuming fewer calories than you burn, is the best way to get started, add exercise if and when you're ready. Our bodies are amazing in their ability to 'cleanse' themselves every day.1

My liver and kidneys and I are not on speaking terms.7

This is the debate section. I don't believe this is a debate topic (although it easily could become one).
My answer: none. Detoxing (other than from drugs) isn't really a thing, and therefore I do not see the point. Most "detoxes" are simply starvation diets, laxatives, or some super restrictive way of eating that pretends that normal foods must be "detoxed" from, basically all scams.2 -

These are just "foods." They aren't unhealthy, but they aren't going to remove toxins from your body either.5 -
Well im not going to recomend her doing the master cleanse like im doing thats against mfp guide lines but those foods are sure a good way to start detoxing very very slowly but surely
Thers more diets you can llok up for detoxing and not all are hard0 -
Mike on Veep announced he was doing the master cleanse. Haven't watched the episode yet, but another character had a funny response.2

No, they aren't. I'm not saying don't eat those foods (they're tasty and provide nutrients), but they aren't a way to detox.4 -
Water, sometimes with lemon or lime for flavor.0

Detoxing is just another fad designed to take advantage of dumb people.11

I drink detox water. It is water with lemon, grapefruit, and strawberries. It helps me get more water in because I am not drinking plain water all day. That is my extent of detoxing.0

I don't get why using the word "detox" incorrectly is a thing nowadays.
Makes me want to tell the kids to get off my lawn.27 -
I really don't understand why so many people on MFP have such a strong hatred/aversion to regular water.
Obviously, regular water is not detox water. You need a special blend of fruit flavorings to detox. Or something.
Personally, my detox plan consists of having a liver, kidneys, and a GI tract. It seems to work.

Why would anybody need or want to do a detox, what does it mean, and what is it good for?
Why is this in the Debate section?4 -

Eat at a deficit and drink plenty of water, exercise, BOOM weight loss. All while your kidneys and liver taking care of business.

I wish my kidneys and liver could detox me of these stupid detox threads.18

I don't drink Drain-O, so need for a detox.
Seriously - it's been said already - you don't need a detox if your organs are functioning correctly. Eat good food, exercise, drink water, take rest days, get good sleep. Bam.1 -

I'm not sure why you feel the need to be rude, but I suggest nothing. We don't need to detox, anyone who tells you that something will detox you is either lying or misinformed.15
