Two previous husbands but couldn't live with either of them, couldn't kill them either, it is illegal apparently.....who knew?
Been with my present husband for 23 years very happily.
He is fit, cycles a lot, rarely drinks, has always been careful with his nutrition and his weight is constant. But he has high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Which he has had to get medication for.
I on the other hand drink (a bit), a lot, smoked most of my life (quit October) have battled my weight and binge eating and yo yo dieting for more years than I care to think about, yet my blood pressure and cholesterol are good.

Side bar: why are so many people hung up on the 1950s? Just once I'd love to hear "I have a 1920s marriage".
My father was born into a 1920's marriage in 1920. Grandpa was working in an oil field in Louisiana and grandma lived in a shack in the company town nearby. Methane from the field was piped into the shacks and that was their indoor lighting, gaslight. Grandma's baby sister had a Brownie camera and took lots of pictures. It was rough. After that work played out they returned to their Texas farm in time to have a crop of sweet potatoes from the 1929 harvest. They couldn't sell the sweet potatoes because money had disappeared. The little family survived the winter on nothing but those sweet potatoes.0 -
I'm sure being married doesn't mean you can't have a laugh or chat with other folk?? And for sure being married shouldn't stop you getting and staying fit should it? After all MFP is all about getting fitter so whatever gets you through the day or motivates you can't be all that bad0

I get little to no support for my fitness goals
Makes me sad0 -
i suppose i can jump in at this point. I'm married. Eleven year in 3 days, actually. I have as big of a crush on her today as I did when I first met her.
When I started to lose weight, i told no one. I didn't make an announcement. I didn't post pics, I didn't do anything outward, because that's my style. But also, I think maybe part of it was because I was afraid of failing. And I didn't want to be all "LOOK AT ME STARTING TO LOSE WEIGHT!!! ummm never mind."
Then, all of a sudden, I didn't fail. My wife doesn't actively support me, but I never asked her to, nor do I need her to. My whole goal with losing weight was to do it in a way that fit into the way I was living my life. So to change as little as possible but still have the results was what i wanted to accomplish.
and i did.
Because at the end of the day, I am the one responsible for it. I am the one who has to say "no" to cookies, rather than demand there be no cookies around me. I have to be the one who changes my life style, and not inconvenience her or my son. plus, i don't want to have daily weight loss conversations with her. I want to have those with you guys.

May 15th was 6 months. This is my 3rd marriage and the 3rd time is absolutely the charm. My husband makes me laugh every day and tells me what he is really thinking, good or bad. We've had some fights in our 4 years together but I think that makes us stronger, because we actually communicate. He is supportive, even if he's not ready to make a change for himself. He is enjoying the benefits of my increased energy0
