@elise4270 - good luck tomorrow! Love the RICE for women, although I need it to be chocolate.
@mnlittlefinn - love the bulls eye shirt. I wear a belt that holds the bibs when I do a race.
I don't know if @shanaber or anyone else wanting to do the women's Nike run mentioned it (no time to check), but I got emails from Nike that both Atlanta and LA were cancelled. UGH - I was waiting to sign up for something until I had those dates. Oh well... I know I will do Daytona Beach in Feb but not sure what in the fall yet. Still quite indecisive.
KC has been really great for running in the mornings. Great group of people run all different speeds. So fun to not be on my usual route and it's been less humid after the first day. Just 3 more days of KC runs and then fly home on Saturday.
6/1 - 22 miles cycling
6/2 - 5 miles + strength training
6/3 -rest and recovery day
6/4 - 34 miles cycling
6/5 - 42 miles cycling
6/6 - rest day - only 4 hours sleep - didn’t think I should
6/7 - strength training + 1 mile on treadmill (tropical storm rest day)
6/8 - 5 miles - yay! finally. Even though it was 95% humidity.
6/9 - 6 miles in the daylight!
6/10 - travel/rest day
6/11 - 4.28 miles in KC
6/12 - 5.5 miles in KC
6/13 - 4.4 miles approx
6/14 - 5.28 miles - beautiful KC morning!

As far as bibs are concerned, I usually pin mine to my shirt the night before (for my flat Stanley). Just one less thing to worry about in the morning. I seen people also pin it to their shorts (for the shirt-less dudes). The RD should supply pins. If you do packet pickup the day off, I usually bring an extra set of pins with me just in case. With all the races my wife and I have done, it's easy to find bib-pins in my home. Heck, I think we each have a set in the car already.
@MNLittleFinn 90% of the time I pin it to the shirt. Like @Stoshew71 I carry pins from previous events ( permanently ) pinned to the mesh liner in my suitcase and my running bag so If I forget to grab pins or loose one I am still good. This is important for me as 99% of my races are out of town = Road Trip = Race Day Pickup. In the Winter races I pin it to the leg of my pants so if I need to remove my coat or first top layer I can without fighting with the bib. Also I refuse to Pin it to my coats as most of them are Gore-Tex and I don't want to damage the coat with a pin wobbling around in it. I have seen some people who have the Nathan Bib Holder for that very reason.
I am still on the IR List nursing my calf so no Km's for me. Volunteered at the 1st water station ( 2.5km mark ) at our local Race. Watching all my friends and other athletes running, seeing their bibs 5k, 10k, HM bibs and thinking I am faster than him/her wishing I was running. Being at the first station I see the 5K athletes once,10k twice and HM 4 times. It is one of the Figure 8 trails where I am right at the crossover. Was a little crazy at one time with all the 5k, 10k outbound and the fast HM inbound on the first loop crossing each other - controlled confusion/near collisions. Once they cleared out it was a very normal day. A few of the 10k runners were Socializing and just following the runner in front of them and took the HM extender at the top of the loop so they ended up with 10.55km. Still swimming and hope to Trail Test the leg this weekend.2 -

Change of plans. It was/is taking too long to cool down this evening. Starting tomorrow we're under a heat advisory. It's just awful hot for June. So 5:30am it is! I've never ever ran this early. Wish me luck.
@elise4270 Get well soon but until then milk it for all it's worth!7 -
@greenolivetree thanks! I'm working on it!1
-
@Elise4270 - good luck with your surgery! I'm sure it will go great and you'll be all mended up in no time!
I go back to my surgeon on Thursday to have the stitches removed. This surgery and recovery has no been nearly as painful as I anticipated, if that makes you feel any better. Of course, I haven't started the PT part yet...5 -

Totals 56.3 km running 30.1 km cycling 1.6 km swimming
Received Joe's Your First Triathlon book - I think this was a good investment. Yesterday's swim just sucked because the lanes where too full and i choose the general swim area. Not going to do that again. My daughter was more assertive and just grabbed a slot in a lane. Next time.
As to RICE?
For Mexicans, we say arroz and serve it with frijoles y unos taquitos.

Staple gun works better.
Edit: I use on of those straps.1 -
@_nikkiwolf_ Oh god. Now I want an eclair too. XD
@greenolivetree Let us know how your early morning run went! I've run at 6:30 before, but the weather's supposed to clear up next week and it may get pretty hot at some point, so I may have to switch to running earlier too...
It was raining heavily this morning and I did not get to run after all. Maybe tonight if it stays cool?2 -
06/07 3.1 miles 1st run back enjoyed being back running after over a week kept it short but hilly
06/08 4.5 miles Joined a running group for the first time lovely bunch of people was a 30 min out and back run and someone stayed with me for the whole of the run.
06/13 4.8 miles Had my first dip into trail running some lovely routes around where I live now but made the immediate decision that while I enjoyed the run I had to get some trainers more designed for paths as these are going to be a regular occurrence ( as if I needed more of an excuse).
06/14 1.4 miles So I went and got myself some trail shoes and they were sitting there staring at me daring me to go out on a planned non running day, guess what they won so I tried them out on the trail 5 mins from the flat couldn't believe the difference they made, I was aiming for all the muddy bits and soo much happier going downhill. Just need to work on running all the way up the hill I've got no excuses about the trainers anymore
Sorry about the length of the post just got a little excited over new shoes, wishing everyone injured swift recovery's and love the alternative R.I.C.E options put me down for coffee and eclairs.

greenolivetree wrote: »@kristinegift Nice run I keep meaning to ask about your other friend....what part of Arkansas was she/he moving to? Lots of paved running trails to choose from in Northwest AR and lots of natural trails in various state parks, etc all over AR.
@greenolivetree She's moving to Little Rock proper. She's excited to find some new trails/routes, but she's gonna miss the paths and friends she's made around here! If you want to message me some good park/trail names though, I'll pass them along to her! Her whole family is quite active, so maybe they'll make a trip to some fun trails around the state!
@Elise4270 Good luck with surgery!!
@Stoshew71 Glad to see you've upped yourself to a 250 standard instead of just blowing past 200 like you usually do
@MNLittleFinn re: bib placement: I always pin it to my shirt so it covers my flabby bits and gives the illusion of abs under there. Plus, there's usually not enough short on women's shorts onto which to pin3 -

Today's assignment was 30-45m at E. I ended up running just over 4 miles in 45:17 for an average pace of 11:16. Interesting thing. I was looking at my strava data for this route, and the last time I ran it was just over 2 months ago. Back then, my average pace was 22 seconds slower, and my average HR for the run was 7 BPM higher.....it's nice seeing progress in more than one way.
Today's run made for a nice recovery between yesterday's 9 miler, and tomorrow's 2x2mile tmpo intervals.3 -
My goal is 80km!
2nd - 8km
4th - 5km (parkrun, 26:21) new PB by 1min 35seconds!
6th - 4km
8th - 8km
9th - 3km My first social run with a friend! We ran faster than I normally do.
11th - 5km Started enjoying it after 4km. Took my camelbak for my shopping bags and wallet and walked back via the shops, worked well.
13th - 8.5 km (7 slowish, 1 really hard, extra half k to cool off)
15th - 4km

What? Only 15 new posts since I checked in yesterday? This heat must have everyone slacking. Only kidding. You guys are rocking it as usual.
Got out this morning because today is supposed to be full of severe thunderstorms. It was like running through pea soup. That, couples with tired legs and a sore toe, made for a slow go, but at least it's done. If the weather holds out, this evening I am going to take the puppy for a long walk and then another run. Last night's run had moments of brilliance speckled with moments of "Ok, are you just trying to make me look like a fool???" We are getting there though.

Yeah, except I will be close since I have a race next Saturday and trying to figure on how to taper and still make 250. I hate it when races don't fit into your normal cutback schedule. Missed it by a week this time around.1 -

@pthyay and everyone else..... I did it! Officially started my Garmin at 5:40am after a 1/3 mile warm up walk. I'm pretty sure my hubby did not expect this run to actually happen. He's the early bird in our family I think I was out of bed at 5:20? 5:22? So this was also the fastest I've ever gotten dressed and ready to run.
So.... 3 miles done. About half mile flat, followed by 2 miles that was up the hill 1/3 mile, then down again, times 3 repeats, then half mile flat back to almost home then walked the rest to cool down. Strava says last time up I tied my fastest time up that hill which I have marked off as a segment
Anyway, it was still 76F with 86% humidity at 5:40am. My face sweats a lot and I continually grab the neck of my shirt and wipe my face with it. So the whole front of my shirt was soaked when I got home. Well, and the back too. And sweat dripping from my elbows. Geez I wish I could figure out a way to carry my enduracool towel to wipe my face with, without actually carrying it.
My splits were 10:19/9:36/8:51. I like looking at the GAP splits too on Strava when I do hills, which was 9:53/9:37/9:05.
@lporter229 Pea soup
@kristinegift Unfortunately I'm 3 hours north of Little Rock so not as familiar with that area. If she was coming to Fayetteville or further north I'd have lots of info I do know they have a marathon in LR. I did Race for the Cure (walking) there years ago but I wasn't even into fitness at the time. She's in for some HOT weather though! A quick Google shows a couple locally owned running stores and a running club established since 1977 so maybe she can get hooked up with some new running friends soon
@MNLittleFinn That's great progress. Doesn't it feel good?
@zmcgrandles Woohoo for trail running!
@RespectTheKitty I'm sorry Take care of yourself.
Name tagging/autofill is back up! Yay. Posting will be sooooo much easier now.6 -

@_nikkiwolf_ hey, just one eclair? I'd have one box, but that's probably why I'm on MFP running my busted kitten off.
Thanks for all the well wishes! @kimlight2 , @cljoe7, @skippygirlsmom @ddmom0811 ! And everyone.
@ceciliaslater glad recovery not been terrible! I'm assuming mine will be awful. Hoping I'll be surprised. I'll be in some CPM machine 4 hours a day, and a cooler strapped to my hip... and crutches ... could be insufferable.
@greenolivetree I plan on milking it. Told work I'd be out two weeks. It looks like I'll be 6+.since they likely won't let me back on crutches.. Heheeh. Coworkers are already seemingly irritated that they have to cover my weekends.
Did y'all notice the @ suggestions are back? 'bout time!0
