I think I'm obsessing. With taper starting next week, and only 2 long runs to go (with next week's being a cut down long run) I'm debating whether I want to do another 12 mile LR for my FFLR this week, or just do a 10 this week....Thinking...too much thinking...

Actually, a runner is a long piece of cloth that fits down the middle of a table. Usually used in a formal dinning setting to provide an accent to the decor.

Ok I think I caught up with the thread, been kinda busy.

At some point there was some eclair talk and now I want one, definitely gonna get one tomorrow. Gonna skip my post run ice-cream :)

It's getting pretty hot around here and today it passed 90 degrees. Tomorrow they declared a code orange on the temp (not as bad as code red but worse than code yellow) and they advise people to stay inside during noon. So today I ran after sundown and realized I may need a headlamp if I keep doing this.

    Date.....Distance..Avg hr/Pace/km
    June 1 - 6.1 km - 156/5:47
    June 2 - 5.5 km - 154/6:00

    June 4 - 7.0 km - 184/4:25

I am wanting some frozen grapes now.

This morning was slogging again (not jogging, slogging...as in swimming langourously through the mostly solid atmosphere) for 7.5 miles around the lake trail and extension. Very slow. I kept telling myself that my heart was getting stronger and my blood was getting more oxygenation abilities. But mostly I wanted to cry. Not that anyone could see my tears because my entire body was drenched in sweat. It *almost* rained. I tried to put a shimmy in it in an attempt to rain dance a few cooling droplets, but alas. No such luck.

So, apparently it's better to run slowly than to jog fast. AND, I'm a runner because I say I am, but if one day a mountain lion catches me, I'll be demoted.

    Lol. Waddle on!

My options for my weekend Long Run include dodging possible thunderstorms on Saturday, or Stifling heat, high winds and very high humidity on Sunday...Not liking the options.....

    Nice blog @stoshew71

Sixth type of runner, I'm trying to leave the science behind and find a different run. Journey, not the miles.

Stitches are out! They did replace them with steristrips since it's only been 10 days since surgery, and she wanted to be extra sure the incision wouldn't pull apart. Still not allowed to get the incision wet for a few more days. I am, unfortunately, still required to wear the boot. Buy I'm approved to take it off in favor of a tennis shoe while walking around the house, if it feels ok.

Don't go back for another appointment until July 5th.

@ceciliaslater glad you are healing well

    6/13 – rest day
6/14 – run squeezed out of schedule
    6/15 – rest day 7.00 group run
    6/16 – 4.02 in 3 pieces

June total to date – 60.61

Nominal Challenge Goal – 100 miles
Real Goals: Recover from injury to the point where running feels normal again. Stretch goal, recover to the point where I can run at race pace.

Today's notes – Apparently this week is a cutback week, though I didn't plan it that way. At Tuesday's pace leader meeting, we were told that pace leaders were welcome to come to the initial 2 mile time trial for the training program. That was this evening. I went, hoping to see who the faster trainees were. Bottom line was that I ran a mere 4 miles, in 3 pieces: About 0.8 mile very slow run from the store to the office park loop; 2.25 miles around the loop while the time trial was going on; and just under a mile back to the store by a longer route.

The training program is very much geared toward people new to the half or full marathon distance, and the heart of the market is runners who will run easy paces from 10:00 per mile to 12:00 per mile. I am a pacer for an "outlier" group at 8:30 per mile. In the grand scheme of things, I'm mostly window dressing for the program, as there won't be very many trainees who need a pace that fast; some sessions, we only have pace pass (people who do the long runs but not the full training program) at the 8:30 pace.

So I'm coming off injury. The coaches understand that, but they asked if I could be a rabbit for the time trial. Well, I won't be as fast as I would be if I were totally healthy. Give it a try. So I did. I ran one of the 4 laps about T pace, not at full out 2 mile time trial pace. Two trainees passed me and finished that loop ahead of me. I was happy with that. Then after the rabbit lap I ran the loop at an easy pace in the reverse direction.

It's kind of different just seeing the full range of speed running the trial, and calling out encouragement to them. No pressure on me here. Afterward, one guy I know casually mentioned he appreciated seeing me regularly, because it showed he was running at a consistent pace. After the session, the guy who did the first loop fastest asked what his pace group would be. His 2 mile time trial came in at 12:49. I don't make the decision, but I told him I thought they'd put him in the 8:00 pace group, maybe 8:30.

So it was a fun evening, even though I only got 4 miles out of it. Tomorrow will tell me whether running about 800 meters at T pace was a bad idea; right now, it feels like I was ready for that. The chances of getting to actually run the 5K on Sunday are looking a little better now, but I won't make that decision till after Saturday's run.

January 1, 2016 Resolution Run 7.5 mile (Mendon, NY) finished in 53:58

I have not had much time to participate here and that makes me so sad. I miss you all!
Work is crazy busy and I am trying to fit in runs when/where I can. We are heading off tomorrow afternoon to drive the two days to Seattle - I am going to try to get in a run tomorrow morning because for sure I won't on Saturday. Once we get there we have a full compliment of activities leading up to my daughter's graduation from medical school on Monday and of course Father's Day! Later next week we are heading to Oregon for some R&R including running (of course) and hiking and just doing whatever we please for a week! I am hoping that during this time I will be able to catch up on everyone here and get some good miles in; maybe even get close to my goal for the month!

    Date..........Miles.........Total
