Hi all - Happy Weekend! We are supposed to get snow starting this afternoon between 3:00-4:00 and continuing into Sunday. Only supposed to be 4-6” at most, which to this WNY-born girl is nothing. But in DC, it’s a lot of snow. People are out and frantically shopping for supplies as if they are going to be stuck inside for days. I’m out at lunch with hubby right now but soon heading to the gym to work off some indiscretions from the week. Remembering the motto for 2019: “forgive myself.”

Waves to all - will check in later.

Oh my goodness Suzu! How awful with that spider bite! Yikes.
    How is your knee now?
You know what to do. That program at work has landed just at the right time, I'd say. Perfect. Bonus observation of having a travel co-worker on program; that is just wonderful.
Suzu - where do you live? I am sometimes NYC, sometimes Chapel Hill, NC.

Memphis girl born and raised! The knee is better, but I'm being a chicken about running on it right now because I'm afraid I'm going to completely tear it up. Have been working back into low impact things like the stationary bike. If it ever quits raining I'm going to hit our Greenline and just start slow.

Broken glass as things fell out of cupboard - not part of making this again --- at least lets hope not. I am waiting for eggs to cool off - will only have to make this once a week. The recipe also suggests chicken and nuts as options.

Tofu Tacos sound delicious, Sara! Let us know if they are as good as they sound.

Snow has started! Not a lot yet - just enough to cover the ground and roads so far, and make things pretty. We are hunkered down for the night. I made black bean soup (really more of a stew, since I let it thicken) and threw some diced cooked chicken breast tenderloins into it. I used a mix I found in a catalog - Healthy Sisters. Very delicious without additives. What I also love is the company is a way for vulnerable women to earn money - each package is “signed” by the woman who packed it. Here’s a link if anyone is interested: http://www.healthysisters.org/

    Cheers,

Am I remembering correctly that you live in Charleston, SC?
I ask because I am going there for a few days in April and I would love your opinion on whether to fly between Raleigh and Charleston or rent a car and drive. Two friends of mine have a VRBO in the middle of the city for a week, and they plan on using mass transit and Uber to get around. I am staying with them for 3 days.

Sara - Nice to meet a neighbor yesterday evening~~ I hope that you totaled up some good sleep last night.

Yes!! So that’s about a 4 hour distance. If you don’t mind a little driving, I’d say go for that! I don’t think there are any direct flights from Charleston to Raleigh - you’d end up probably spending more money and time trying to fly there!

    SUNDAY

    Good morning,

Sunny today but rain all this coming week. Had curtains open yesterday and heated up place so heater did not run last night - hope to do same today. Also hoping for another nap with dog.

Did most of my Sunday work yesterday, so my to do list is short. Yippee!

All this snow talk - never had to drive in it and people here have no clue so if it snowed I would not bother to be out driving in it. We have enough accidents in rain.

    Wave to all who follow.

    Good morning all~~

Eryn - thanks for your take on my April trip to Charleston. I like the car idea too because then, after I visit with my friends, I can take a drive out to Isle of Palms and scope out the beach house my in-laws have rented for a week in June.

Sara - I am envious of your brief Do List.

Dawn - If I ever did a doughnut in car, I would probably start crying and panic. I can't imagine what you went through.

    Hey Tess 🔊 🔊

Where in western New York are you from? (Did I ask you this already?) I grew up in Schenectady, and I went to college in Fredonia. Sometimes I would have to walk my really skinny friend Beth to her classes in the winter because she couldn't fight the wind and snow that came off of Lake Erie 😮

Finally got out today. Snow is still coming down. But, roads were better. It is so pretty out, just don't like driving. If it wasn't for my guilty conscious, I would just have Doc cover for me. But, I beat myself up until I'm stressed. Doc isn't a healthy man and I don't feel right making him do my job. I also, don't like wrecking. So, my mind really messes with me. Have to go back, this afternoon. Hopefully, it's still not bad. We ended up with 8 inches so far. City 45 minutes away got about 12 inches and a couple hrs away got about 15 inches. We have not had snow like this in a very long time. Guess we were bound to get it eventually.

Lana- i'm not sure how I remained calm but I did. Both times I went off the road and when I did a donut, I was calm. I guess, I knew I couldn't do anything or call anyone, so I just had to stay calm and help myself out. I was freaked out more than I have ever been. But, I didn't cry or panic. The "best" part, was 2nd time I went off road, 2 guys went around me in a truck. They were young. Could have stopped to offer help. But, they just looked right at me and drove off. How nice.

Definitely not getting a lot of steps. But, pups at work wanted to run in the snow... so, got my HR up...hehe

Hey Lana - born in Rochester and raised just south of there. We would get double lake effect - off of Erie and Ontario - so I can totally relate to what you and your friend went through while at Fredonia! That is SERIOUS cold!

Suzy, that’s so funny!!!! DC is a little bit like that but since we usually do get 2-3 snowstorms a season, we’re a little bit braver!

We got 6” overnight from this storm, but it’s still drifting down so may add another inch or two by nightfall. DH and I spent an hour shoveling this morning - good cardio!

You people have me laughing!! Know this as fact - if you are in CA and it is not in the mountains - NOBODY knows how to drive in snow. Get off the roads immediately - forget the bread and milk.

Miss T is doing better after her anal expression and we took a short nap in the sun. Opened shades and raised temps in place 4 degrees so the heater may not run tonight!!

Second helping of link I posted yesterday for dinner, considering adding feta cheese / white beans to recipe next time I make it - which will be next weekend as I ordered kale and cauliflower to be delivered to house Thursday.

Still laughing - forgot what that sounded like.

    Will stop by later.

Photos are hilarious! We get snow every winter. Not usually this much. But, every time, everyone acts like the world is ending. Grocery stores and gas stations are crazy. People seem to forget how to drive. I don't like to drive in it. But, I'd like to think i'm cautious and do ok.

Lana- I truly hate putting my job off on someone else. Doc would do it. I wouldn't feel right. Getting out today was pretty easy. Better than we thought. Hardest part was getting out of driveway.

Everyone be safe out there. Sara- send some warmer temps and sunshine, please :)

    MONDAY

    Good morning,

Scale down .2 did not remember to drink water on weekend until yesterday - drink too much coffee on weekends.

Down is down and moving on.

Best chance of rain is tonight, so dog walks are still on and if she wants to walk - we go!!

I live in a college town so every semester we get a flood of brand new drivers out to give the townies a heart attack. Thank God it doesn't snow here, the kids in the rain are bad enough.

Hello all! Wow - people were busy posters this weekend. I am very glad all survived the snow. I live in Wisconsin - east central. We have fallen out of the snow belt. It has been years since there was a good amount of snow that people could snowmobile and other winter activities. Personally I do not mind the snow. If it is gonna be cold it might as well snow - at night when I am not driving (: I like to snow shoe and cross country ski.
My weekend was cleaning up wood. we have a creek and a couple of years ago a windstorm took down a couple of very large trees. My hubby and son did sawing and heavy log lifting I did clean up of sticks and branches.
Got over 14000 steps on Saturday!!!! tired and sore. But it was good.
Have a great Monday all! Lurking from work

    Good morning everyone~~

Sara - glad to hear that Miss Tillie has gotten a spring back in her step! Good for you both.
    Scale is down! 👍🏻🎉

Marselli - where do you live that you don't get snow? Florida? California? I am way jealous!

Lynn - How strange that Wisconsin is no longer in the snow belt. I would have thought you were knee deep in it all winter long.

So this evening I am flying to Las Vegas to see my Estranged DH. I won't actually see much of him, as he did not ask for time off at his new job. So I'll entertain myself and drive around and see whether or not I could stand living there, should that stay on the table.

I need for all of you to send me good vibes today and Friday - my two travel days. Of all the things in the world that I am Jekyll/Hyde about it is air travel. I roll into an airport, transform into Ms. Hyde, and eat and drink my way to my destination. Any NSVs today will be very hard-earned.

We have been experiencing a Warner than normal winter so far, with not a lot of snow. It did start extremely early though as we got snow on Sept 13. Hopefully the next couple of months are nice as well but I have no illusions that we are out of Winter yet.

Yesterday my youngest and I designed her wedding invitations. She decided to buy a family size of chips and I ate way too many of them. Today will be a better day.

Lana good luck on your travelling.

Ended up with little over 10" of snow. We did get out and played in the snow a little on Saturday but Sunday was a lazy day. I stayed inside, curled up in a blanket with a sugarfree cashew milk chai latte, and just looked at the snow outside. The neighbor's 6 year old son was quite the amusement out playing (and falling) in the snow. The dogs loved it! They would run full bore with heads down, mouths open, scooping up the snow like a couple of steam shovels. Watching them try to catch snowballs and frantically looking for snowballs after they hit the ground was hysterical.

Saturday was the Jeep club holiday party. I made sure I got smaller portions of entrees and sides and plenty of veggies. I did have some dessert but split it with the lady who sat next to me so we both didn't over do it. I won a few gifts in the "dirty Santa" game that kept getting stolen. The lady next to me had originally won a big beautiful red bird feeder and was heartbroken when someone stole it, so the last time someone stole my gift, I stole that bird feeder and gave it to her. Her husband offered to pay me for it but I said I got it for free, why should he pay me. Their 40th anniversary was coming up so I told them to consider it an anniversary gift. I thought she was going to cry! In the silent auction, I did end up with a gorgeous yet functional leather Jeep wallet/wristlet and a stunning silver Jeep bracelet, so I had no complaints.

over the weekend, I did track my food, kept my intake under control, and tried to get my steps in, but Sunday was a really lazy day.

Everyone is bracing for another winter storm headed our way next weekend with close to same snow totals, but its also predicted to bring ice along too. Snow I can deal with but I despise ice. Thats a lot more dangerous. Its doesn't matter if you have 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive or 8 wheel drive - nothing works when you are sliding on ice!
