    Good morning ☀️

Well I got The Dreaded Paperwork mostly completed and sent off to the lawyer. This is for the divorce; I haven't received all of my stuff necessary for the tax returns. I need to get that on my radar.

Sara - thank you for the card 😘

    Hello all!
    Whirlwind of days. Geesh.
Maureen - I feel every ounce of your cold frustration. I cannot wait for this cold week to be done. This is NOT supposed to happen in February.
Lana - sending you warm thoughts. Sorry it is yuck paperwork.
Sara I agree - something will come along. How does anyone buy a trailer if there are no loans out there? I don't think that makes sense.
    Welcome catgirl and Justin.
I got two friend requests today from two gals that were very skinny and had very sexy poses in their photos. LOL. Not sure they will be good support in MFP journey.

    Good evening,

Lynn, they are sending you your "after" picture motivation!!!

Lana - double scoop of hooey - taxes and divorce papers. Sorry to remind you about the 2nd scoop but those arent due until April... With you on the couch cringing. Reward yourself with a walk when you can.

Got my 6k and not grazing as much - that is the best I can say about my eating habits this week.

Monster may be in trouble. I overheard something that has nothing to do with me (whew) but until I have actual fact I will just wait. Keep you posted? Heck ya!!

Wishing all a good evening. Stay sane and safe out there.

It is always so nice to see everyone's updates.

Lynn, like you, I thought we were free and clear in Feb. So much for a "mild" winter. Making a decision this week about whether or not I'll have another winter in WI. I hate how easy it is to justify skipping a run or walk because of the weather.

I'm now within 30 lbs of "healthy" bmi. I can't believe it. It's been an off-and-on again process, but the one thing I did really differently this time was *not* regaining. I saw time as my friend--just keep going, knowing that a week or month without losing (and a few months, a couple times), didn't mean anything as long as I didn't view it as a reason to just give up. Eating at maintenance for many weeks at a time showed me I could. It required attention and effort, but no more than many people who have always been thin have to use to maintain their healthy weight. Reading and learning about the habits of those folks really helped. Some folks have no interest in overeating or in foods that "trigger" many of us, but they are rare. I remember my mom's friend telling her that she only had dessert once a week--it worked for her. It works for me if I want to maintain. It's getting harder as I lose more cals with my decreasing weight, but the habits are in place and I just need to start shaving off small parts of what I consume--a serving becomes .9 of it's previous size. Not hard once I became I aware--it was the awareness that was always lacking, the knowledge that small, slow changes make the difference over the long haul.

    Good afternoon,

Week half done. Boss not too talkative. Still throwing out the odd half compliment /half insults. That is why I raised my walking steps so I would have to get out and walk off some of this toxic material.

Wednesday sounds pretty good to me.

Lynn you are practically perfect in every way - cat claw moment is good for your biochemistry.

Sara, walking is so good for getting rid of frustration. Good for you.

I have made the decision: I am moving SOUTH!!! At the end of this school year. Looking at Charlotte, NC. I'm really, really excited and rather scared :)

    Stay warm, healthy, and happy.

    Good morning all~~

Maureen - are you looking at Charlotte because of job opportunities there? It's a hub for American Airlines, so lots of travel options!.

I am thrilled to say that yesterday a lady I know from the walking group told me the secret to scheduling a covid vaccine (call a certain # at precisely 8AM, not even 45 or 60 seconds later!), and I have an appointment for my first shot this afternoon. Amazing that it was that tricky....

Lana, I'm so glad you got your appointment! Also, to answer your question, I want to move south, and I really like working for big urban school districts. And I want to live within relatively easy driving distance of mountains and beach. That limited my search and Charlotte is almost perfect. I'm pretty excited about it. I like moving to new communities and working in new places.

I had 3 fillings done today and haven't eaten yet--I know it's allowed but I live in fear of biting my numbed cheek. I'll be starting by the time the numbness wears off, but I'll still have all my cals for the day.

We are expecting the worst of the polar vortex in the next 3 days, esp. the weekend. Can't wait for it to pass.

    Hello!
    A bit late today.
Wow - great decision for you Maureen. I am excited for you! 3 fillings? You made me shudder.
Sara - thanks so much for saying I am perfect - you made my day!
Lana - whoop! Which vaccine are you getting? good luck!
I get my 2nd on Monday. Hearing some bad reports on the next day. We will see how that goes.

Lynn, I'm getting my 2nd Moderna vaccine on the 17th and made plans to fly on the 18th. I can't believe I did that. Oh, well. Hoping for the best. And hoping to get past this polar vortex and say goodbye forever to this kind of winter weather.

My teeth feel ok. A little soreness in one spot but I'm sure that will fade. Glad that's all over.

    Good almost evening,

Rain started as I was getting off work and has been steady and sometimes heavy - so no nap for me.

We have a new temp (complete surprise to those of us working at the office ). I have the option to work from home again and will give it serious consideration.

Just glad tomorrow is Friday. Lana's shot apt today? I will look back and recheck. Glad you got it so soon. I know people based on where they are living they are waiting quite a while.

I have the chance to work weekends at the flu clinic helping out - nothing medical - "are we in the right line?" "where do we go from here?" kind of things. Director said she was exhausted from being on her feet all day, but I would get my steps in.....

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

So yesterday I got my first shot - The Pfizer vaccine. Zero side effects, except for a little achiness in my arm. They gave me my appointment for my second shot in March. UNC had their act together - it was running like a well-oiled machine ✅

Maureen - I've never been to Charlotte except to change planes. It is much closer to the mountains--good for a day drive or overnight and so beautiful 😍; it's about a 4 hour drive to the ocean. Good for a week-long+ vacation, but not for a day visit. The NC winters will be so much easier on you and your doggies! You will want Kick-*kitten* air conditioning--extremely important to beat not only the heat but the heavy humidity.

Sara - be careful of being on your feet, standing, if you are seriously considering doing the flu clinic. How many hours would it be?

Lynn - hope your 2nd shot goes well on Monday.

Well ladies, I think that the Cabana Boys should be giving us a great Happy Hour today. 👍🏻🎉🌴

Maureen- flying may be rough, but what I am hearing is people can power through. You really aren't sick or contagious. Your body is reacting. Headache, shivers, and body aches. Yikes. I will wish you the best
Lana - glad you are feeling well. My arm really hurt the 2nd day but that was it. An in really - it was a bother...not too bad.
Sara - good luck at the Flu clinic. Make sure you take breaks.

Waves to all! Hope everyone is doing ok.

Total chaos in my work today--announcements about reopening and completely unrelated confusion about special education services. Emails have been flying back and forth and I've missed a half dozen meetings because I AM TEACHING and can't be checking email all the time. I know reopening is a huge issue, but I don't understand why people treat it as though it is a "life or death" MOMENT. Give folks 24 hours to see emails before you hold the dang meetings about it.

Sara, maybe the new temp will prove to be a Monster Whisperer.

Lana, I grew up in the South and have spent a considerable amount of time in FL in the summer (yeah, I have it backwards). I can handle heat and humidity. In FL, I jog at or after sunset. Maybe once in the south, the lure of cool mornings (not in FL, though) will get me back into my old "up and out early" ways, which I miss. I definitely use AC if it's available, though, and especially at night. My BIL never had AC growing up in FL and I can't imagine!

Weighed in at 190 today--so close to breaking into the 180s. This weekend will be miserably, dangerously cold--the worst of the year, so I won't be getting any exercise. But watching my intake is working without exercise, thankfully.

    TTYL!

    Hello Friday,

Gung hay fat choy - spelling - Happy Chinese New Year!!. In days before computers and cell phones, people listened to radios and a SF station would always wish us a Happy Chinese New Year from miles away.

Our director did say that the flu clinic work was exhausting but it was good work to do. I just signed up to see if they can assign me work Saturdays only after this weekend (wanted full 2 weeks after getting my shot). So dont know yet and they might/ might not call.

Lana drink a little extra water for a couple of days, a couple of people recommended it who got their shot.

Monster is at her wits end - trainer keeps calling out ill and Monster is out of her office answering questions- little bad karma time and yes Maureen this new temp may be just what the doctor ordered.

    Wishing all a good night.

    Good afternoon,

Lana hope your flight goes well. I know you like to indulge at the airport food etc, can you get more steps in while you are waiting at the airport?

Cotton clouds but the sun makes it warm so its hard to know how to dress.

Soup for lunch with a glass container (baby food size) of a lemon ricotta cheesecake. I will be looking to see where to get them maybe cheaper as they are very good and I hope to invite a couple ladies from work over (save $$$) we usually meet a an eatery.

Left 2 stick balloons for Valentines Day on 2 ladies front yards this afternoon.

Sara - On days I travel to and from NYC, my phone & watch tell me that I clock almost 3 miles of walking, so that will be plenty. You seriously wouldn't believe how far I walk from the gate to the public transport while LaGuardia is undergoing construction. Also, I have a couple of Clif bars with me to avoid buying those huge double Snickers bars that I usually get.

I am jealous of your cotton clouds and sunshine ☀️ It's been nothing but rain here. Blech.

Time to set up the coffee for tomorrow and settle into bed with my Harry Bosch audiobook.

    Good morning,

Lana I figured Airports were good for something at least you get walking in and good for you for having food ammunition on you -- also saves you $$$$. Safe travels.

Church sermon and zoom chat lunch and then help with food pantry drop off. Get all my exercise in and then hot shower and flop into recliner.

HVD. Haha, I always liked saying that--old people like me think it's hilarious to say or write "VD." For those too young to know, it meant "venereal disease," like STI or STD means today.

So, we are in the worst of it--sun is pale, there's a low but steady breeze so walking North feels a lot colder than walking South. My older dog, Radar, got sick yesterday and I ended up walking him at least 15 times before finally taking him to the emergency vet in the middle of the night. He's ok now (always is, if I spend at least $500, ha). So I had to pick him up too,. I've been out more in the past 2 days-the coldest of the year--than in the whole 2 weeks before, I swear.

Hoping you are all having a good day.

Wow Maureen - so sorry to hear about Radar. Poor pupper. I bet that took a lot out of you, and that's not good in this weather. Keep us posted as to how you both are doing.

Sara -Your day today sounds really great! 💗❤️💓🧡💖

I am home now in the apartment, and I look at my watch/phone records: I walked 4.1 miles and 9,103 steps today. Traveling through two big airports and one bus/subway system can really chalk up the activity.
I did not buy any candy bars, but I did order Chinese food for dinner. Happy Valentine's Day to me.

    Happy Monday Morning, Cabana Crew!

It is a balmy 8 degrees here in northwest Tennessee. Looks like we have about 8 inches of snow on top of that half inch of ice from last week, so Tennessee is closed.

No, really. We aren't built for this. Ya'll northerners have scrapers and trucks and all kinds of weather fighting equipment. We have Bubba in his four wheel drive pickup truck yelling "Hey, ya'll! Watch this!" and doing donuts in the parking lots. If you're lucky, a neighbor has a blade for his Husqvarna mower or his Yamaha four wheeler and will clear your driveway, but the streets are covered.

My neighborhood has a lot of old trees that overhang the streets. Branches will snap under the weight of this snow and the other 10-12 inches to come. If they don't snap off, the shade will ensure no melting will occur until summer starts at the first of March.

This two weeks of winter may do us in.

(All the above spoken with tongue firmly in cheek.)

Tracy, I hear ya! I lived in Virginia for many years when young, and snow is just not what we were equipped to handle. School buses has unpaved routes, so no school if even an inch of snow. The good news was, it rarely happened and never lasted. A few days, every few years. Just enough to enjoy. The cold is more concerning 'cause y'all don't have the right winter gear--so a very good excuse to stay inside.

Lana, glad to hear you had a good traveling experience. Not too cold there in NC?

Radar is so much better, thankfully. And thanks for asking, Lana. It really wasn't bad b/c we were out and back in so quickly b/c of their feet. Same today and tomorrow, I suspect. But we ae coming out of it soon--in the teens by tomorrow and up to 30 over the coming weekend. So the snow will melt and streets will clear. Just not yet.

    Good morning,

Snow is a 4 letter word here in the valley - 90% of the people have no clue how to drive in it. Tracy I did laugh only because I know exactly what you are talking about. Snow in the mountains for us is $$$ for the ski resorts and water for the summer - but they know what they get into when the move up there - usually.

Slept in and will go after lunch to help set up for tomorrow's food pantry. After lunch so I dont have to worry about taking a break and eating out.

Otherwise a day without a long to do list.

Stay warm, safe and sane out there.

    Hello and Happy Monday.
Tracy - good luck with the snow and ice. Even in WI if we got inches of ice and then a foot of snow we would be in trouble. Power lines/trees, etc. Wishing you the best.
Lana - glad your travels went well.
Sara - you are such a kind and thoughtful person - hearts in peoples yards, food bank. Good for you!
one more day of bitter cold here then normal winter is back. Can't wait. My step counter will be happy as well.
