Good afternoon,
103 and it may not be the high of the day. Sweet potato french fries in oven to be cut up and put into salad with lettuce/cheese/blackbeans/yogurt dressing. Too lazy to cut up the yams I bought, but baked yams are also good like baked potatoes. Flipped for side 2 and turned off oven.
Reading romance novel and leaving the world outside.
Lana - if you can do that cruise go for it.
Dishes and laundry done which means I am ready for Monday at some levels.
Wishing all a good day. Stay safe and sane - and cool - out there.1 -
Good morning all~~
Sara - I hope that you have a peaceful day at work today and that you can keep yourself in the air conditioning!
I'm off to attack the Do List.

Good morning all. Still doing ok here--not 100% back to my best efforts, but PDG. I knew some of my weight was water from chips, etc, so I dropped 4 lbs pretty quickly. When the last of the junk food junkies leaves (2 left yesterday; safely home, thank God), I'll be able to get back to 100% effort.
Lana, are you still in Chapel Hill?
GemWolf, sorry I can't remember your real name.
Sara, did you ever get another pup? I haven't seen you mention it but I haven't been back long. I remember your sweet Tillie so well.
Trying to develop a routine that will have me ready to return to work on 8/17. My new school starts at 6:45 (for staff; kids at 7:15 despite ALL THE RESEARCH that says this is bad for kids, sigh). I'm a morning person and just need to get back to an earlier morning time for that routine--dogs need exercise before I go to work, and I need my coffee time. I'm thinking 5 am--30 min for exercising the dogs, 30 for coffee, shower, etc., then 15 for last morning walk (they have to pee again after exercising and drinking a lot when we get back in); leave by 6:15 am. My travel time will be cut by about 10 minutes but I like a few minutes of quiet time before I am officially on the clock at work. The good news is, I can leave at 2:45 pm daily! That's a big bonus when time changes for winter, and not inconvenient the rest of the year either. I need about 7.5 hours of sleep, and dogs can do about 8.5 hours overnight w/o a potty break, so I will aim for an 8:30 final walk and bedtime routine to be asleep by 9:30. I'll know it's right if I start waking up just before a 5:00am alarm I was just there last winter and then between Christmas break and some other schedule disruptions, I never got back to it. I LOVE waking up before the alarm.
Anyway, starting to think about that and some better food prep for lunches. Also, I learned I *cannot* keep chocolate candy for students at my desk. OMG. At least half my gain this year was due to that! Thankfully, most students enjoy hard candy, gummies, etc., which I find much easier to avoid. I can stock up on that and have a better year this year.
Any feedback on my thinking is always much appreciated.
Have a great day, all.

Happy Monday all!
Maureen - no worries 😉 it’s Missy and can totally relate to your schedule. Have multiple dogs and I get up close to 3 hours before I have to leave to make sure they get enough free time, food and of course me getting ready for work. And my bedtime needs to be better. I’m finding going to sleep at 10 I’m not getting enough Z’s. What do you teach? And I had the same issue when I had a candy bowl. I’d be eating the stock in my desk drawer but not what is in the bowl (it is on the other side of the plexy so it would require me to get up and go around. So I got a bigger bowl and dumped the full bag in there so there isn’t any stock for me to pick on.
Sara- how was your workday? Hopefully uneventful?
Lana- how did you make out with your to do list?
Well I applied to my first MBA program will see how it goes going to apply for a few more and whichever one accepts my application, has a good program and is most cost effective I’ll go with. Also have a job interview later this week. Crossing my fingers. Off to let the dogs out so they can chase bunnies out of the yard. Okay with that as long as they don’t catch them. That gets messy.
Have a great day all!

Good evening,
My victory today is to not be tempted to go and get ice cream. Hard to do when it is so HOT. I have meatloaf and broccoli for lunch tomorrow. I have Wednesday off to do some errands and dr apt so I am hoping to get inspired again by salads. BBQ sauce with my chicken just popped into my head for salad.....
Maureen - no new dog yet. I am at least allowing it as the next door neighbor who abused his Rottweiler is gone. It is currently $$$, but I can probably work around that when I find the right dog.
Missy - ewww those rabbits know better they are just taunting your dogs. Lets hope they play peacefully. Very proud that you are applying for schools. Hope you get many acceptances so you can choose.
Bags of romance novels and nasty heat got me starting to read again.
Found my cd player, tomorrow I do NOT have to answer phones tomorrow so ROCK out day for me at work. We all get one day a month.
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

Your plan sounds like a good one 👍🏻
Missy - Bunnies!!! 💖
Sara - rock on! 🎵2 -
Good evening,
Batteries were a bust so no music- will have to make different plans for next no phones day.
96 at 7pm hmmm - do your best to stay cool. Good reason to have that extra glass of water.
Tomorrow is off, after my "to do" list is a big ???? , so I hope to have a half day to "waste".
Will make macaroni and cheese to go with my last frozen meatloaf for lunch Thursday. Tomorrow is up in the air and I might come up with a better plan.

Good afternoon,
Got all my errands done by noon which is nice as it will be toasty again.
Leftover Tonkatsu with mandarin oranges and almonds with lettuce for salad tomorrow.
Romance novel and nap on the way.

Well, one eye is open.
Today I will be grilling the huge package of skinless, boneless chicken thighs. Half will go into the freezer. This will give me easy to grab protein that has no salt added.
The convenience food I buy has way too much sodium, but I am so often tired that I just reach for that prepackaged stuff instead of doing real cooking.
Everyone have a good day 🌸

Good evening,
Lana good for you - like they said in WW - plan plan plan.
Having said that I need to go put frozen broccoli in with my frozen homemade meatloaf for lunch tomorrow. It was going to be macaroni and cheese, but I think broccoli will serve me better.
Time to pass out after a long day.

Wow - it's Friday!
What do you have on tap for this weekend?
I might take myself to the movies. I never go. There is a small independent theater not far away, and they are showing the "Crawdads Sing" film. I didn't care for the book, but I have a feeling I might like the movie, as whacky as that sounds.
Has anyone seen this movie?
Water exercise is also on the list....
Sara - Broccoli is the best veggie! "Little Trees" ! Yum.

Good evening,
My solution for my week was to take a shower. Start my weekend being fresh and clean after a HOT week.
Chicken enchiladas are potentially on the menu. Meatloaf is almost gone and enchiladas freeze pretty well. Just started a grocery list writing about it.
Boss was gone physically from work but email and messaging still was used.
Just glad its Friday and I can relax for a couple of days.
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

Sara - Do you make your own meatloaf? I'm looking for a healthy-yet-yummy recipe to make my own. If I buy it from Trader Joe's or the grocery store, the sodium is too high. 😭
Lazy Lana should lift a finger and look around on this very site for a meatloaf recipe....
Time to get moving to get things done before noon when the heat and humidity will be full force!
Hugs to all~~

Good evening,
Lana my recipe included egg/seasoned bread crumbs (salt ), onion and a little BBQ sauce - found the one with the lowest sodium and bought 2. Lana you need to put in your meatloaf what you like.
A pan of chicken enchiladas are in the oven, I made 10 so 5 meals down the road. A set of cotton sheets are in the dryer to help with the hot nights.
Tomorrow by comparison will be easy - 3200 steps today.
My a/c is working and I am a lucky girl.
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.1 -
Boy I would love to be on this ↑ beach today, with umbrella of course. 🌴
Sara - I looked at recipes, and realized I will wait until fall for the meatloaf, as the baking time will heat up my kitchen too much. Now is the time for cool plates, salads, cold cereal with fresh fruit.....
I am grateful for every day that the electricity stays on and the air conditioning works. 🙏🏻
I hope that everyone is doing OK in the heat, if you have it~~
Tracy in Tennessee - How are you doing? I miss seeing you and hearing about your work travels~~

Good Morning 😃☀️🌞
Sara the enchiladas and meatloaf sound delicious! If it weren’t scorching hot out I’d turn on the oven.
Lana, I haven’t seen nor read the book but everyone seems to be talking about it so I may go see the movie and read the book.
Having a busy weekend so far. Working OT at main job which is double the pay on Saturdays and 4x the pay on Sundays when compared to my weekend retail job. Work is just growing so OT is needed and will be having to put retail job on hold which surprisingly or well not surprisingly I’m not to upset about lol. I think retail job has run its course. Asking to be “as needed” employee so if there is a shift I can pick up but if that is possible I may do so sparingly as I can’t juggle main job + OT + grad school. Oh and get healthier as well lol 😂
Have a great weekend everyone!1 -
Good evening,

Quick cold chicken salad for dinner. More water.
Slept good part of today. Tomorrow will be here soon enough.
Hang in there Lana and Missy with the heat.

Good evening,
My surprise was the scale which makes 6 pounds - having not been a saint, that is good news. So many things at work werent working it almost became a joke.
Lana I hope your shower helped. Glad you can take a good muscle relaxant.
Pleasant enough temps for the week is a real kindness.
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.1 -
Happy Tuesday All~~
Sara - Congrats on seeing good numbers at the scale! A good number can really spur us on to keep going~~
For me, there was emotional eating yesterday. I'm wrangling books and furniture and packing memorabilia; I've been actively trying to figure out how and what time of day to do this stuff so that it is the least upsetting. I don't have anyone I can ask who can be with me when I do it. So afterwards I eat and drink junk that I shouldn't.
There. It was helpful to tell y'all that. Today may be better! 🤷🏼♀️

Hey, all. I've been so busy--had 2 days with my eldest and then saw him off, and a friend arrived the next day. She and I spent a lot of time hiking--in the heat. I loved it but the day after she left, I slept 4 hours during the middle of the day. I was exhausted! We ate out daily, too, and I don't track when that happens--too difficult and I don't do it very often, so it's not enough to make a big difference over the course of the year.
Missy, I may have to get up by 4:30 am. I'm a little worried about the dogs although we will have a lot of time for play and exercise and training in the evening. I'll be teaching 10th grade American History this year and my curriculum is provided. I don't particularly enjoy a canned curriculum but it sure cuts down on planning time. And congrats on the MBA program.
Lana, I'm happy to drive to Chapel Hill one day--I have to bring both dogs unless I come after my daughter arrives (Aug 12 I think; she's moving in with me). Unless you want to come to Charlotte or meet in a state park or something to walk an hour or two. Let me know. I'll message you with my phone number.
You all are so good about meal planning. I hate it and I hate cooking. Fortunately, I can totally eat the same simple things pretty often. I try not to buy a lot of seriously processed foods but do rely on canned things (low sodium chickpeas or black beans, for example) and frozen veggies--a whole bag of cauliflower or broccoli florets makes a good snack. I like egg salad and tuna salad and garden salads and Greek salads; all pretty ok b/c I do weigh ingredients and use low fat mayo, etc. Fruit stay fresh here a lot longer than in WI, so that's good too.
My pups are worn out from our walks this evening--1 mile with Jem, 2 with Skye. The heat helps and I'm careful about it with them. I've been jogging pretty regularly this summer except for the week I took off due to having Covid. Gotta get back to walking more again, though.
Hoping you all are having a good week.

Good evening,
Lana - you know we probably all do that if we admit it to ourselves. At least you are organizing things. My place looks seriously messy.
Peanut butter and crackers for dinner - no more crackers in house now. That may not be a bad thing.
Boss goes on a short vacation after tomorrow. Really wanted chocolate today at work but had no $$ so settled for a hot chocolate with decaf coffee in it. The last 2 hours at work can be boring.
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.1 -

Good morning all~~
The fog has not yet lifted.....
Sara - good to hear that the monster will be gone for a few days.
Maureen - yes, we will figure something out. A few months ago I had problems with my right foot, but doctor and PT fixed that. However, I have not resumed walking because of the heat and humidity, so if we were to get together, it'll need to be activity-free.
I'll look at a map later and see what interesting places there are halfway between Chapel Hill and Charlotte. I would love to meet The Floofs!
OK, time to take a shower and wake up!!!

Only 300 cals left at 1:40 pm--although I have a jog or long walk later, so that will give me a few more. I only got about 4 hours of sleep and ate "breakfast" at about 4 am, haha.
Lana--maybe a pool or lake somewhere -- with Cabanas preferably, haha.
Stay cool, all. And remember it could be -40F before the wind chill, so this heat and humidity isn't the worst!

Good evening,
We have a southern breeze which means it will cool down tonight - after the last 2 weeks it is a wonderful thing.
Dragon was all fire and flames as she will be gone for a couple days. Just roll my eyes.
Dinner somewhere between ice cream and something extremely healthy. Too lazy .

Good morning all~~
Sara - Yes, cooler temps for you both outside and at the office!!
Maureen - I wonder if there are any state parks in between our two cities. Someplace where the puppers are allowed. Or we could go browsing at the High Point, NC furniture stores/mall/whatever.
I missed getting to the farmers market yesterday. Dang.
Time now to get showered and dressed. Lots to do today!

Good evening,
Someone bought lunch at work and caloric, salty, and greasy - oh yes but dear me was it good. No details and like Lana says the scale will tell me.
Came home and crashed as is usual for Thursday. Week has been one long Monday with things on the computer processing system breaking.
Had lunch for dinner and nothing else as nothing would match the bought lunch. Almost wanted to smoke a cigarette.
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.3 -
Wow, it's the middle of the evening here, and I just now realized that I did not check in this morning. My morning--no actually the whole day--was a mess.
Let's just get a good night's sleep and move on to Saturday.
