Good Sunday, Ladies!
Did get some things around the apartment accomplished. Got my depression glass set the way I want. Today I want to try a new set up for my digital antenna to get it off my kitchen table....its not esthetically pleasing. Still have plenty to do.
Started chatting a bit with a man who divides his time between a house in FL and one in the town my brother lives in, right down the road from me. I have made it clear that if a relationship begins, it will be slow. I think he gets it. He is in FL right now....will be back up here for a bit next week. We'll see if the chatting continues to a meeting or I get ghosted. He says he is more interested in the company than sex so I will have to find out if that's BS or not. I have been into this dating site thing for years and I know what to expect.
Almost reached Challenge goal but one more day to the halfway mark. Still, I've gotten all the holiday weight gain off.
Breakfast was a Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sandwich. Lunch will be a snack. Dinner will be fried clam strips and french fries (fried in the oven).
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Good morning all~
Sandy - I suspect that most women are looking for company or companionship. I suspect that some men, who are looking for a relationship, are actually looking to have someone "take care of them" —especially the widowers, so beware. Sending you good vibes to meet a variety of men you will enjoy socializing with, as a start. 🍀
Sara - What a good idea with your English breakfast burritos! Have a good workout at the Food Pantry!
Waving to all who pop by today 👋🏻

So, quick post: this morning I thought the scale said I hadn't lost anything, but I transposed numbers in my head & actually down 6.0 pounds for the month so far. Yay, on track and that's without thyroid Rx. Also pants keep slipping down, so NSV too. Sunday, fun-day!

Good Morning!
Lana, I need to take care of myself...that's the priority here. No man is going to try and rope me into being his caretaker and I have no money to be their bank. I won't get many interested, but I definitely screen any prospects. And I will get ghosted because many men have no manners and can't say "I don't think we are compatible". I am a BIG girl...but it shows they are not a big boy.
Selene....Wow....that's terrific...and inspiring! Keep on, girl!
The midway point of the Challenge is today and I lost 6.4 pounds. I am very pleased.
Didn't feel like having breakfast so I will have a sandwich for lunch. Dinner may be a shrimp meal....salad or stir fry. Will decide later.
Hey, to all those who post later!

Good morning all. Glad to see so many checking in.
It's been so busy. Exams. Houseguest. Overnight trip. Comedy show, eating out, revisiting trauma.
I'm almost glad to be back to work, although I was thinking how my official "full retirement date" passed on Jan 17 (66, 10 mo), and could almost cry right now that I cannot afford to stop working. I'll get over that soon enough—I HOPE!! And it's no one's fault but my own (and my ex, to some extent, but that's a dead horse).
My weight has stuck right in the 195 range despite all the eating out. I was definitely eating less, though. Did not realize it until I really thought about it. Gotta get back to logging. I had some mild nausea last night late, but other than that, no other sign of the Tirzep but the fact that the "food noise" and appetite are so reduced.
We start a new semester on Thursday. I have a lot to get ready for and my grades are "done" as far as I can tell. Just some obsessive reviewing before I can submit them :)
TTFN.

It snowed! Now that it snowed, it can melt and we can have spring. Wishful thinking as it's still January. This morning when I left for work, the sidewalks on my street still weren't plowed. No surprise there. What did surprise me, was the bus stop was plowed out. Clearly two different companies do that work.
I stepped on the scales today. Ugh. As much as I don't want to admit to it, my pants are starting to feel tighter. A pair of jeans that fit me a month ago, aren't. I need to stop the binge eat. At work I made myself heat my soup I brought so I don't go out and buy something I don't need.

Good Day, Ladies!
Maureen, I can identify. I couldn't work anymore. Disability was temporary (won't go into that epic story) but I am in the situation I am in because of my ex. He made me destitute and permanently dependent on others to survive financially. He's got money out the wazoo....got everything when we divorced except the bills....I got half of those. I had a lousy lawyer because I couldn't afford better. The ex pushed me into a nervous breakdown, then took advantage of that during the divorce. We are on speaking terms, but that's all. And at least my kids know the truth now.
I had another breakfast sandwich this morning. Not sure about the rest of the day. I had egg salad for dinner last night so maybe the shrimp tonight.
Keep warm if you are in the deep freeze...

Just a quick peep from me….

Quick check-in…still on track; yep lots of snow here, and still more on way, but esp. the cold. Heard on news that it's going to be one of the worst winter storms for the majority of N. America in a long time. I had been taking the opportunity to get some cardio in shoveling earlier this winter, but maybe too cold now. Pretty though.❄️

Howdy Again, Lassies!
Safe flight, Lana!
Selena, yep...we are expecting a major storm. I have to remember to put the cover on my car...helps with cleaning it off. But I have no idea how much we will get.
I seem to have aquired a chemical uethretis…feels like a very mild UTI. Caused by crotch deodorant. SO I won't be using THAT anymore. Supposedly drinking a lot of water will flush everything out in a couple days. I sure hope so. Its not painful, just annoying.
Our former governor gave us a nice parting gift....NOT! He wants all of us who own ebikes to pay to register them (how, I have no idea) and pay for insurance. I can afford neither. So what do I do? Sell my bike and forget about the pleasure I get from riding around the neighborhood? Its a money grab I can't afford. I am sad and angry. BUT there is a possible silver lining behind the cloud. Federal law states that ebikes are bicycles and require no regulation....and Federal law outrules state law. A lawsuit is being assembled to combat the state regulation. I hope it goes through. At the least, it will put the new law on hold until the courts decide.
Having eggs for lunch. Not sure about dinner.

Good Evening, All!
I gave into temptation and had lunch at a diner after I had my bloodwork done. A cup of soup, a sandwich which was mostly Greek yogurt, tea and a piece of red velvet cake.....$30 with tip. I can't really afford that. But I did get another check from my old car insurance company for $93 so that helped. But no more diners.
Started messaging with another man after being ghosted again. Its amazing how little manners some men have. We'll see what happens with THIS one. He doesn't live far.
The irritation is gone and I am glad. I have this feeling the holidays will have pushed my A1c up. I guess I will find out in a day or 2 when I get my results.
Hope everyone is well! Till tomorrow...

Hi all…been busy prepping for the big storm…shoveled snow for 50 minutes yesterday (Wed) & about 2 hours (~1800 cals) shoveling today (it looked like a snow globe shaking all this morning & when I went out late afternoon it was as if I hadn't shoveled yesterday, so much had fallen…had to do it all again, and then more…mfp says it was 1800 calories of exercise today, which is good as I was eating a lot of calories in support of this hard workout yesterday and today. Didn't eat that much more, but some high calorie foods. Upped my protein too. Well it's 2:45 am, so done for now, more this weekend

Hi, Everyone!
Selene....wow…great workout! Living in an apartment, the only snow removal I have to do is from my car...and I have a partial cover for it, which helps.
Got myself a small bag of sugar free lollipops, sweetened with Stevia. I'll let you know how they taste.
Not much else going on. I have no desire to be one of the crazies that buys out the grocery store. I not only have plenty of food, the roads will be open the next day. People are ridiculous.
Have a nice day, group! Till tomorrow...

We are well-stocked, I'd been preparing for the last few weeks, when we had a break in the worst of the winter weather, but almost out of milk. I had thought about going to the corner store to get some, though I just opened a can of coconut milk for my coffee so that issue is solved, since every breach of the garage-by opening a door-lets the super cold (0 F) air into the garage. Tomorrow night supposed to be in the negative teens F. Everything here is shut down, even the U's and the colleges. I'm enjoying the day taking it easy getting back to my regular food plan (1.2-1.3k).

Good Morning Again!
Selene, great that you are prepared! I have had to pull the thermal curtains closed here at night because the wind gets through (they aren't exactly the most efficient windows) and the living room gets cold…I don't want to push up the heat too much. I opened up one curtain this morning, so I have some light…I do not like the dark.
Found out from an email that one man I was chatting with was thrown off the site for fraudulent behavior…and he was a foreigner. Not that I have anything against foreigners….far from it. But it is why I am very careful…I am upfront about being poor, so when they realize they can't get any money from me, they stop communicating, which is what this guy did. I blocked his number, so that's that. I am still communicating with another man and, although he isn't a foreigner, I am still being careful. But I think he is more legitimate….I told him I had no money, and he seemed fine with that. We'll see.
Had a meal bar for breakfast and will have an orange in a few. I took meatballs out of the freezer I got at Costco… I have never tried them, so I hope they are tasty. Will have spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.
Here is a shout-out to all our group, hoping you are keeping warm and are ready for any snow coming your way!

Good late afternoon,
Took my phone and ear plugs and got a 30-minute walk listening to a podcast. It is inspiring that you ladies are losing weight when cold weather is the best time for comfort food.
I then went to my hairdresser to see if her sister in law could give me a facial, I had one left on my card. Boy does my face feel better. Their mother/MIL came by with some food for the lady who gave me my factial - rice paste with nuts - my hairdresser does not like it so she would not touch it, but I liked it well enough. Not something I would have access to except these ladies are Korean and I am expanding my menu of possibilities in their cuisine.
Went to get my meds - got a discount coupon and bought this oatmeal thing and glad I only bought one, not bad, but I would not finish a box of 10.
Fog mornings and cold wind this afternoon. It is January. Hope everyone in the path of that massive winter storm stays safe.
Still waiting for drs to get back to me on MRI and cataract surgery. Not surprised just annoying.
Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

I still have power this morning, and I am SO grateful for that. Today will be the ice part of the storm, and we certainly are at risk of losing power. I am crossing my fingers.

Selene, I cannot tell you how rare it is for me to come across a word I've never seen before. (Even ones I've seen, I don't always remember what they mean and have to look it up—but never seen? Once every few years!) Anyway, "sessile" describes me to a "T," and I need to do something about that. Thanks!!
Sandy, I had a rough day the day I posted about retirement, but have bounced back very well. If I could stop working and live w/o social security, I would. But I can't so I won't—and I have a sneaking suspicion I'd regret it if I did it.
Greetings to Ang, Selene, Lana, Sarah, anyone I missed. I'm locked in by ice, now, too. Snow wouldn't stop me, but ice does. I'd rather drive in it than walk on it—I slipped and injured myself my first year in WI b/c of ice, and have never gotten over my hatred of it. I have 2 pairs of YakTrax for my shoes, though, so as long as I can wear those, I'm ok.
I'm still weighing in at 195. Med has done nothing, as far as I can tell, and compared to how I felt on Wegovy, Tirzep seems "useless." I think my real fear is being scammed, b/c I got it from Direct Med and am not sure it is a trustworthy source. I researched before I bought, but something still doesn't add up. I've had 2 shots now and should see some impact.
The good news: I walked 3 times this past week and was so happy while doing it. Now I'm irritated with the weather, although I could just dig out those YakTrax and go for a walk. It's definitely into the cold temps, but I'm used to that. I did 2 miles in a classroom where I had to proctor a state exam—my only job was to make sure the "Test Administrator" (my colleague) didn't violate any rules. And the room was So. Effing. Cold. I felt ill. I came home early and slept 12 hours that night. I'm glad I didn't actually get sick. I know the cold doesn't make one ill, but it can suppress the immune system some. I think the long sleep let my body fight whatever made me feel ill, thankfully.
So back to some exercise has felt great. And jogged 1/10th of a mile each time and that has felt fine. Well, not when I did it on pavement so much, but on my trails. And my pups were so happy!
TTFN.

Came back to add: Tirzep may have taken the comment to heart. I suddenly feel a bit nauseated (ok, more than a bit) and full. Serves me right.

Good morning. Schools are closed so I am home. I plan to walk with the dogs later—the sun will make roads safe soon. Although I could easily drive on what's out there, I don't trust others who have almost zero experience driving on slick roads.
I showed both a weight drop and a body fat drop this am, not a lot, but that's the first time since I started the Tirzepatide. Nice.
I have tight muscles in a weird spot I've never experienced before, just looked it up and found stretches and exercises.
TTFN.
Maureen
[FYI, if you must drive in snow but don't have experience, follow these 3 rules: go very slowly, keep massive stopping distance, and use brakes VERY gently. You want to almost coast/slow to a stop. Turns must be very slow. And ignore others who are stupidly acting like you are going too slowly. You are not. I drove 10 on a state highway (55 mph) once, about 1.5 miles, b/c that car was back-wheel drive and extremely dangerous on snow; it was a very new, heavy, unplowed snow with a thick layer of ice on top; my kids were in the car, and I had to get to work (their school). The peeps going faster b/c they have 4 wheel drive will be the ones you see have slid off the road. Trust me on this! 10 mph was a one-time thing, but only go as fast as you feel safe.]

Another Monday snow day. I could get used to have snow days on Mondays. We do have a tendency to have storms on the same day of the week. There's been Wednesday, Tuesdays and one year we didn't have church for 3 weeks in a row as it snowed every Sunday.
I had a couple days last week that I was good in getting in a run or workout, but haven't done anything in the last 3 days. I blame the cold. It's warmed up from being so frigid, but now it's snowing. Last week it was a heavy snow perfect for snowman. This snow is light and fluffy.

Hi Everybody~
I totally forgot to check in until now.
I chipped most of the ice off of my car today. I didn't go anywhere though. Tomorrow the roads should be better around mid-day.

Got out for a longer walk than yesterday, with the pups too. We have a "remote learning" day and I'll be working on line—as I did most of today. I look forward to sun and warmth again, but I sure enjoyed revising the fun part of living in WI. Winter hikes are fun!

Good morning, Lana et al.
Home today again, but working from home again. I am waiting to hear from students and making my lesson plans for the next unit. We have to turn them in b/c we are a Title 1 school. It's a pain in some ways but I also like knowing EVERYTHING is set well before I have to teach the lesson. And b/c we've been doing this for several years (since I got to this school for me), I have everything "done" but am able to tweak and improve lessons.
It was chilly here last night—I'm guessing the buses wouldn't have started and that's why we are off, although there were a lot of slick spots on the tertiary roads yesterday.
Today is a "rest" day. Planning to do 2 easy miles on the paved trail in my neighborhood.
Weighed in same as yesterday, exactly. That happened 2 weeks ago for 3 days in a row—and had never happened before. Just a casual observation that has no meaning, although when I think about how many times I've weighed myself daily over the years, wow. Do we ever stop being weight-obsessed? I thought about that when my mom was in her 80s and still talking about losing weight. What a number our society does on our self-esteem.
OK, back to work. TTFN.

Hi all: have been kind of 'off'—had 2 days of 'high' calories, then didn't muster up courage to face the cold to shovel to burn them off. Monday woke up to fam text chat where sisters talked about shoveling (none of them usually need to—we usually have the most lake effect here, vs. where they live/husbands do it. One sister—between Montreal & Toronto—said back yard snow up to her husband's (6') waist; they've had it worse this year than us, and got no melt-offs as we did, twice. Schools were closed pretty much statewide again, so one of my sisters, a teacher, shoveled their driveway in her city, vs. her husband who'd had to go to work; another, in my city, didn't go to work until M afternoon). We've had 2+' of snow in the last week. I plan (*we'll see) on going out today, if only for a little while (since so cold still) to move some; also so Jan ends strong. Will update later if/when I do make it outside; sounds like everyone's dealing with some form of the storm still. It's snowing again here right now.
Per words: Sessile is one of my fav words😁 English is my 2nd language, though my most fluent (I remember in HS when I started dreaming in it, bilingually, and then by college was pretty much only in it) & I'm both kind of science-y & have a degree in English Lit, so collect weird words. ttyl
PS: LOVE the dog pics!
