Nice to see that people in this section can bear their hearts; write about their daily lives; and not be told to go to their blog instead of posting on the forum. You all seem to be much nicer people.

Hello ladies: We had a nice Labor Day yesterday. We finally got the barbecue going but ended up cooking mostly at the fire pit. The cover for the barbecue literally fell apart when we were cleaning it up so there was nothing to hold the heat in. Need to find a new one. However I think everyone had a good time. I got my exercise in walking my horse around the arena while she gave rides to the young girls and one adult. Everybody had different length legs so I used the bareback pad so I wouldn't have to change saddles or adjust stirrups. Jule was given lots of extra grooming, petting and treats for her efforts.

Re - Yes we did find some dry wood but it took us a bit to get it going and we finally had to use charcoal in the barbecue. The kids enjoyed making s'mores at the fire pit after dinner. I probably should explain that our barbecue is built of stone not a conventional metal one.

:)Joyce, my x-rays today were all done standing up....I had to stand still and not move until the tech told me to move to another position. Standing still is what hurts me the most so I was miserable by the time they were finished. When I went back to the changing room, I had to sit for a few minutes while the pain went away before I felt like putting my clothes on. I feel very fortunate that I'll be able to see the doctor so soon.

Did 1 hr of Amy Dixon's Give me 10 DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to take the deep water class.

reduceme - big congrats on that weight loss. Just be careful that you don't drink too much. That can have real bad effects on the body. Good advice from Lisa. That's a lot of water every day. Maybe there's a reason why your body needs so much water. I usually have over 100oz a day, but never that much.

    Allison to the rescue!!!

Went to go see "Light Between The Ocean" movie with some of the Newcomers. I highly recommend this movie. WARNING: If you go see it, be sure to bring tissues with you. As a mother, this will really tear at your heart.

The went to WalMart and picked up one of those big cookie cakes. It's one lady's birthday and she's usually at Mexican Train. Then stopped to get gas, then went to pick up my watch that needed to be overhauled. At this time they took another link out of my watch. I hate when the watch turns on my hand, I'm always so afraid that I'm going to hit it on something when it's on the underside of my wrist. Not sure if they would have charged me normally, but with what I paid for my watch, I figured taking out a link couldn't be very much so I just left. Unfortunataely, I had one of those miniTwix bars while I was waiting. Why, oh why did I do that?

    Mexican Train tonight

Vicki - so sorry for all the deaths your family is enduring

I have friends who are trans, and I must say I've never met more caring, loving, giving people than them. When I went to go see them, I asked Vince if he wanted to go and he said "no, that's not natural". I thought they were just lovely people. I'd much rather see a trans couple who is married for a long time than a couple who is married for only a few weeks.

Re - you know something? The cheese biscuits at Red Lobster don't entice me at all. As a matter of fact, I had a bite of one a while ago and didn't want any more. We're all different

Went to Mexican Train. Just had carrots, sugar snap peas, and cantaloupe. Just water to drink.

barbie - so glad the doc had a cancellation! Best of luck

txfyreflye - I don't think you'd find a nicer bunch of women anywhere else!

Must have eaten something bad yesterday as I woke up at 2 am with stomach problems. Lasted until 8:30 am. Really wore me out. Toda wax a Jammie day. Haven't eaten much as I'm afraid it will come back.
Barbie - hope the doctor gets to the bottom of your pain issues. When I had severe headaches for 6 months, I had to go through about fiv doctors until I found one who knew what was causing it and how to fix it. So praying for a good result for you.
Re- will do the Google for high protein. It's funny we use to say look it up in the dictionary now we say google it.
Sorry not much to reply tonight although I did read the posts.

Heather: Bea is gorgeous! She brightens my day!

Barbie: Hope that they get to the bottom of your pain issues soon.

Re: Don't work too hard...covering for those on vacation is tough on the one doing the covering!

DJ: Sorry your friend is having such a difficult time. Enjoy the line dancing

Vicki: Be kind to yourself! 1 thing at a time. Pick something small that you can succeed at and as my dad says "just do it" :)

I've been covering for 2 managers as well as my boss for the last 4 weeks. Finally everyone is back today and I get to do my own job! Fortunately, I'm on the road to recovery, but I'm still coughing. I'm going to take my own advice and be kind to myself, even though I haven't accomplished anything that I wanted to in August.

Goal for September: Do a better job of meal planning!

Re: I got in trouble for trotting during the trail ride because the horse trotted on his own initiative. I didn't ask for it AND I didn't admonish him and make him stop. I'm supposed to be the one in charge. He should go at whatever pace I ask of him until I ask for something different. My teacher was correct to call me on it. I was indulging myself and the horse. I'm not sorry because I had fun, but next time I'll be more responsible. :embarassed:

txfyreflye: Welcome to a great group of women.

Barbie: I'm sorry the x-ray process was painful. I hope it gains useful information that will help solve the problem. (((HUGS)))

We bought a new coffeepot today, made one horrid pot of coffee with it and will be taking it back tomorrow. :grumble: It has been overcast today but not wet. Since school year is just starting, this weather is a bit of a blessing for kids who are just going back to school. It isn't quite as bad going back into the classroom in cloudy or rainy weather when there isn't anything fun to do outside anyway.

    Hello Ladies,

    Tuesday was a good day!
@kim yes i agree that is why I write a grateful list! It so helps when I am in my anixiety spells. A way of grounding.

The Y was good today one of the best decisions I have made. So addicted to going. I still have a lot of weight on my frame but the walking is getting easier. On the track or in the water.

Just lost my post :( let's try again :#

Sue this time of year is great to purchase a new barbecue grill

Barbie glad the uncomfortable waiting and standing though the exrays is behind you. Answers ahead <3

Katla I teach elementary level and I always notice the kids are so very happy to be back among the structure and the social environment of school. I am lucky to be a part of a great school community. Can you tell I teach elementary?!? :D

Today will be mostly planning day and I hope to maintain my focus--one thing I've added to help with that is a rule to check my email only at 3 points in the day and not between every class. I hope this will help me be more focused--it worked yesterday and I think it will be really hard to establish and that is why I am telling you all about it!!

Anybody else struggle with the habit of checking email, phone, Facebook etsy or Pinterest too much?? ;)

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday! We have had a couple of hot, sticky humid days and evenings here! I am back to early morning walks to avoid some of the humidity/heat. It was a wet walk this morning, a little misty, but warm.
Karen- Pinterest! O.M.G.!!!! I first hopped on a couple of years ago and was immediately sucked in. I spent about three months logging on daily and getting lost in everything that is posted for about an hour or two EVERY day! Then I realized, it was giving me a lot of ideas and dreams, but sucking up the time that I would need to make any of them happen! So...I put myself on a Pinterest diet and only allow myself to go on if I am specifically looking for something. I just got a smart phone, so checking the rest isn't a big problem (yet). I really am not a phone person and would just as soon chuck it out the window.
Re- I finally stepped on the scale yesterday and also took my measurements. First time in a few weeks! I am up everywhere except my upper arm measurements are down! (I will take that!)
    STARTING WEIGHT: 209
    CURRENT WEIGHT: 226
TOTAL LBS LOST OR GAINED (THIS WEEK) :
TOTAL LBS LOST OR GAINED (ALL WEEKS): +17
    GOAL WEIGHT:180
    ULTIMATE GOAL WT.: 140
TOTAL LBS AWAY FROM GOAL: 46
I have decided not to change my goal for the challenge, even though I totally lost my mind in August and gained 17 pounds. I figure if I can gain it in a month, it can come off in a month. I will just have to put more energy into moving and working at it! I am back on track with my food, along with prepping meals on the weekends, this time, I am also taking a tip from you ladies and pre-logging my meals on this site. I am less likely to stray, because I simply don't like to change stuff on here. It is like it is written in stone once it hits MFP.
Another change I have made in my "lifestyle" food choices is beer/alcoholic beverages. I haven't really drank much since my early twenties, but in recent years, I have found that I would much rather have a drink at the end of the night than a dessert/snack treat. SO...I have a decided to take the same stance with alcohol, that I have with treats. It's just not in the house. IF I want it, I will have to go out to get it. Like ice cream. For years, I only get ice cream if I take a walk downtown on the boardwalk. I have a favorite place I stop to get a small sundae. Not every walk. Just once or twice a summer. I think if I walk for a beer, I will be okay.
Any how...kids arriving. Gotta fly for now. Feels good to be back with just kids ages four and younger! They are still amused by "the little things". Big kids are back in school and yesterday the little ones spent an hour and a half in my kitchen playing with my pots and pans! Good stuff! :)

:)NYKaren, I taught elementary for over 30 years and loved it right up until the moment I closed my classroom door for the last time. I have no desire to be in a classroom again, but I loved it all the years I did it. I agree that most children are happy to be back in the structured and social environment of school. Yes, some days I check my email and MFP much too much during the day---fortunately, I don't have any of the other accounts. I check Facebook about twice a week and usually because someone I see face-to-face asks me if I saw some great thing that they posted.

:)Heather, for awhile, I thought I knew what was wrong with my legs and that there was nothing that could be done except some pain management....but it got worse and Jake insisted that I go back to the doctor and tell her about how the pain was worse....that's when she requested the MRI and I realized that I'd resisted an MRI because I was afraid.

:) I awoke a bit early this morning so I'm using my extra minutes to read all your posts and enjoy your company while I eat my breakfast

Oh Allie..... what a way to start the day. Maybe a Uhaul? I see them advertised around here for like $19.95. (of course like most things that is probably like $50 with hidden charges.) Do you have a vehicle you can tow with? Maybe even an open trailer? Maybe a friend even has one you can borrow??? Best of luck dear. Also been meaning to send you condolences on your friend. As a biker, I feel your loss greatly. :'(

NYKaren: I started out as an elementary teacher and ended up with 8th grade social studies. I had a tough first year with 8th grade, but once I had a bit more experience I really enjoyed eighth graders. It is one of those transformational years in the life of a growing child and it was fun to see them change and mature.

Allie: I hope you have a doable solution to picking up the new to you freezer. Is there anyone available to help? An unloaded freezer isn't horribly heavy but it is bulky and awkward. :flowerforyou:

Yesterday DH announced that he was coming to the gym with me today. I hope he really does it. I suggested that he do a little exercise, sit at the counter and gab with the other people there, and then do a bit more exercise. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he follows through, goes to the gym and doesn't over do it.

Allie - So sorry about your freezer woes. That kind of thing can really throw your day/week out.

We have a leak in DH's bathroom and the plumber keeps promising and doesn't turn up. Today I noticed that the overflow pipe from the same leaking cistern was dripping into the alleyway. Looks like a new cistern is in our future. Hate spending money on things like that. At the moment we have a jar underneath the inside pipe to catch the leak, but it must be done before we go away.

DH has been making the Blackberry Cordial, with a bit of input from me. He did all the work. We are about to bottle the result! :D
I've made Spinach and Feta Pie, with loads of dill, :D boiled up a few potatoes for DH and prepared some runner beans from the garden. That's dinner sorted and tomorrow lunch. B)

I had a bit of a funny moment today, but I'm getting over it. ;) My son rang me, which he never does, (he had obviously been delegated by DDIL) to talk about the coming weekend. He was trying to be tactful. :* The upshot is that they are very stressed and tired with everything happening/starting this week and so want us to limit our visit to just the one night and day. I was a bit confused as I partly want to go to help them out and do some babysitting, but they obviously get a bit stressed out having visitors and not being in their normal routine. I think the grandchildren are a bit unsettled at the moment with the new nanny , the new school and their mum going back to work. DDIL wants to have a quiet Sunday with them. DS said they get overexcited when we are there in the mornings!!!! Whoops! I thought we were helping them by entertaining them so the parents could get showered, dressed etc. :'( So, anyway, we are still going down there Friday afternoon and staying over the one night and probably go back before tea on Saturday.

My handgrip measurer has arrived. It was recommended on a TV programme as a way of lowering blood pressure. I tested my grip and it is normal on my lymphodema side and strong on my left. :D For the blood pressure I have to squeeze at 30% of full strength for 2 mins, 2 mins break, and do that 3 times. Do that set three times a week. I'm happy to give it a go.

Got to repot our mint. It's burst out of its pot!!!

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxx
