Miriam, glad you are somewhat better. I have only had 1 UTI and I never want to have another. It came on fast and furious. I was at work when it hit and I couldn't even drive myself home. You know that drinking water is going to just make you pee more but yet you know that peeing is going to give you a great deal of pain.

We can't have flood insurance in our area, not really sure why. I know that in 1937 we had the floods of all floods. We now have streets that flood with heavy rains but are down in a matter of hours.

Had one lousy night last night. I had been given guidelines to only take my b/p medicine if my reading was over 130 and it was 156/73 so I took both of them. But because of patch I didn't take the extra 1/2 of the Lortab. I also couldn't sleep and had diarhhea which started in the evening, nausea and slight upper belly pain. So I am lying there in bed running through all the things that could be going wrong. Reading continued continues to be high like 160/100 during the night but felt OK except the belly problems. I finally got to sleep around 8 and got up at 11:30. While I was fixing lunch I could just feel myself getting more and more dizzy. My b/p reading standing 72/51 and as soon as I sat down it was 128/72. But that is typical with the cardioneurogenic syncope. Just sitting down brings your b/p back up. I ate a light lunch of cheese and crackers. Needless to say I didn't take b/p medicine except the beta blocker which she said take it no matter what.

My sister is coming over in an hour. She wants me to listen to her lungs. So I had better get up and slowly get my teeth brushed and put some clothes on. After she leaves, we need to go to the grocery. I have told Charlei I would be interested in ordering from Shwanns. Also I can shop online at Walmart and pay then drive there and they are already bagged up ready to be put in your car.

Janet ~ My Pom lays down that way too. He also sleeps on his back a lot.

Carol, our Boston terrier sleeps on his back the majority of the time, but he only lays on his belly like this outside in the grass and he is horribly allergic to grass, Poor thing will get all red and itchy.

Janetr - Your dog pic made me giggle sooooooo much! :D

Margaret - Good going on the appetiser! Isn't it great when you realise you've got this social eating thing licked. I used to dread eating out. Now I know how to handle it I can just enjoy the company and eat the bits I want. This week is filled with socialising, but I am sure it will be fine. Such a relief!

Barbie - When do you get the results of your scan? <3

There was a medical programme on tonight which investigated HIIT compared to normal exercise. They found that HIIT done at home with no equipment for 8 weeks made the group 12% better at oxygen uptake.
They also found that a simple hand grip exerciser hugely improved a different group's blood pressure readings, just on its own, so I am definitely going to investigate that! ! !
Two tablespoons of diluted apple cider vinegar before meals lowered chloresterol.
They also found that wrist worn fitness devices were hugely inaccurate in measuring heart rate and steps.
Acupuncture results were unproven against dummy needles, but there was a placebo effect .

All interesting. I'm going to look up the hand squeezer!

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Another new blank slate to write a new chapter in our journey. Had to see retina specialist yesterday. I have a bleeder in my eye which required an injection. Still pretty sore but at least not blurry anymore. Hope this will correct the problem.
My goal for September is to make good choices with food and exercise. Since it is getting cooler my water aerobics class (which is outside) will be winding down and I will go back to golf.
    Have a great evening everyone.
Thanks Barbie for keeping us going.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening Ladies,

Barbie, I totally agree that you and Jake should get a treat any time an animal takes a pill. That only seems fair to me. petting-poodle-smiley-emoticon.gif Thank you for moving us forward once again.

MicheleNC, you mentioned Aldi and I don’t know if your recall me telling you that we are getting one…..well they have just now cleared the land for the store. I’m ready for it to open and they haven’t even started it. I’m with you in that I don’t pay for shopping bags. There are too many free ones in the world (and in my closet). I did laugh about the Senior Expo being crowded because the first thing I thought of was, there must be free stuff. Lol

Pip, money-pile-smiley-emoticon.gifYou are the bomb! dollar-signs-and-cash-smiley-emoticon.gif

Miriam, so sorry for your infection. Sending healing thoughts your way. (later) Glad you are feeling better already.

Heather, glad you got to enjoy your alone time. I like mine, as well. I don’t think it matters how much we love our spouses or enjoy their company, it’s nice to be alone sometimes. I’m not at all an adventuresome eater but I do agree that I must cook with onion and garlic. cooking-dinner.gif

Margaret, I agree with your beauty secret! fake-smile-smiley-emoticon.gif

Joyce, if Michele can’t help you with your spreadsheet, I’m sure one of us can. You’d just have to let us know what you want on it, if you have Excel. Don’t forget this wealth of support here!!! Just keep getting better each day, please.

CarolGA, you look wonderful!!! I do like the haircut. It’s fine at that size. That way we can see you.

NYKaren, don’t let ‘em git ya down. You can do it! Just be sure to take care of yourself.

KarenE, good going on getting in that exercise! Could you not make eggplant and chicken parm totether at the same time in the same pan? That way you and your family could enjoy.

Cheri, you go girl! So glad you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and put yourself out there. Keep it up.

MicheleNC, I sure hope you can spend the night somewhere on that party trip. *shakin’ head* These young people really make me feel like an oldie but a goodie.

Janetr, Oscar is so cute. Who does he call “Mommy or Daddy”? Do I understand that he is staying at your house while you are away? I’m having a Senior Moment and don’t remember who you said was house sitting?

Want8me9back, welcome. This is a great place for support and information. Please tell us about yourself to help us get to know you. Also we ask that you sign each post with the name you want to be called and a location, general or specific.

Allie, you can only do so much and please just so many people. I hope your DD calms down and figures out a plan for the party.

Lillian, glad the treatments helped and hope you heal quickly. (((Hugs)))

Juanita, congrats on your loss and keep up the good work.

pretty-pink-welcome-smiley-emoticon.gifto any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.

Well the storm that seems to be heading straight for us should arrive sometime late tonight. (9/1) The winds will be up to 60 to 65 MPH and heavy rains up to 8”. We should be fine but some of the low lying areas should have some problems. My good friend and cruise buddy has her DD and Grands living with her. The DD has many physical and mental problems and it seems is about to lose her children to Social Services. She loves her kids but has so many problems that she has a hard time taking care of them properly. They both have behavior problems and to be honest would be better off in a different environment. It is just a sad situation and mentally draining. Please remember them in your thoughts and prayers.
Sending love and good thoughts to all of you and I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy Day! rainbow-smiley-emoticon.gif

    Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
    and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
    I Love you, blow.gif

    evening ladies~
I just had the biggest suprise I have had in a long long time... so I was supposed to meet Tom over at the car dealership we use he was dropping his car off for an oil change or so he told me.. the car that we bought last November has been ok ,but not the right fit for us... we hemmed and hawed about getting another and decided this one would work... well when I got over there he said lets just take a look, so we did and I said the one I found that I had looked at must have been sold. so he said maybe they have some in the showroom, so we walk in and there it was , the one I had looked at he said well sit in it and check it out, I said sure alright, then he took the keys out of the ignition and handed them to me and said here you go.. to say I was flabbergasted was to say the least I started crying, he started getting teary eyed and I went and gave him a hug... so after that of course, signing paperwork and all the riggimerole of new car stuff, but I am home with a brand new 2016 chevy equinox... beautiful.. and a lovely afternoon with the girls and a nice lunch and the play was wonderful.. so a great day all around.. an amazing day actually.. so sometimes he can do nice things...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Good for Tom to give you such a nice surprise.

    Hello Friends –

Woke up with a headache this morning so I skipped the gym. Now I have to go tonight. It’s much easier for me to find an excuse to skip an evening workout than a morning workout, but I will be good and go. Daughter is at work and hubby just left for a business trip to Paris, so I have nothing else to do except catch up on my work emails.

Melanie – So sorry to hear how the flooding has impacted you and your DD. Will pray that everything works out well for you both.

Glo – Good luck on that job interview. Bummer about the lice. Have fun shopping for new clothes!

Joyce – If I were there in Indiana, I would sit down with you and teach you how to make a spreadsheet. <3

Katla – Thank you for posting the video on face exercises. I will give them a try.

Carol/Peach – That hairstyle looks great on you!

Cheri – I am so happy that you are getting out there and starting to make friends in TX!

Allie – I am smiling at the thought of you having such a happy day. You deserve it!

    September Goals:
    • Drink 60 oz of water or non-caffeinated beverages daily.
    • Follow plate method for eating: ¼ plate protein, ¼ plate whole grain, ½ plate veggies.
    • Perform Jamie Eason’s LiveFit workouts (weeks 5-8 for September).
    • Just log it!

    Happy September!

Hi ladies: Cool, rainy day here. I met with my wellness coach at the YM today. Kept my goals with her pretty much the same but added a couple of rider exercises. She helped me with correct positioning and posture. She thinks they will help. I have no trouble riding but getting on and off can be a problem so three new exercises one for legs, one for core and one for arms.

Got an e-mail today announcing the yearly concert of a group that I used to sing with on September 11. Made me kind of homesick for Sioux Falls.

Janetr - Hope you have a wonderful time with the RV. Oscar is a cutie.

Welcome to the newbies. Stick with us.

Allie - Sounds like you had a really awesome day!!!

Barbie - Thanks for keeping us going. Don't know what I would do without this group.

Sending healing angels to all who need them and congratulations to those with victories. Sue in WA

So glad I pushed myself to go to the gym today--I actually walked into a TRX class and followed along :| I can only imagine how that's gonna feel tomorrow!
Also, I tackled a computer problem today with the help of someone, of course, but I think i got the hang of it :p

Oscar belongs to Jack's youngest son. He's recently divorced so on his own. Yes they will be staying at our house for the duration of our vagabond adventures. He's thrilled to be here and have use of his Dad's shop, tools, etc. I think its a win-win situation for us all. :)

    My September goals are:
Continue to work on ways to include exercise in my work days. So far I've managed to do so for three weeks in a row. But not always easy, so I need to keep doing it.
Find more ways to stay under net calorie goals while enjoying my food

Janetr, Oscar is adorable. I'm a dog person. One year we ended up with four. We had a young dog and an old dog. The youngster needed a younger playmate, so we found another young dog at the shelter. Three was fine, since the old dog was a mellow couch potato. Then my friend went overseas and left her small poodle with us for a year. He was pretty easy, so it was okay. Then my daughter came for the holidays and brought her two dogs! It was wall-to-wall dogs, especially when they began to play after dinnertime. I realized then that I would never become one of those people who can't stop taking in dogs! What a relief!! I had been worried. But two works just fine for us.

    NYKaren, I love the TRX!!

Heather, I'm not too surprised about their heart rate readings on wrist activity trackers. I have a Garmin vivosmart hr+, which I like a lot. Last week I did the following: 3 elliptical sessions; 2 pilates sessions; three swimming sessions (1000+ meters/session), 3 walks; 3 sessions with kettlebells and bands. I used my tracker to record them, and it said I only had 72 minutes of moderate exercise--my heart rate didn't record a high enough rate to make them sessions count!

Allie, What a wonderful surprise for you!

Miriam, I'm so glad you're feeling better.

Charleen, Would you like to come help me with some outside work? ;)

Marcelle, Happy belated birthday! I hope you got to the gym today. If not, tomorrow will be here soon.

DJ, I hope you and your friends stay safe during the storm. And my heart breaks for your friend's DD and her children.

    KarenE
