Glad you are going to start exercising! If you eat within your calorie deficit to start to lose weight and combine it with exercise to get your body back into shape, that's a great start. (And yes, that's my way to tell you that monitoring your calorie intake (eating) is going to help the most to lose weight rather than just exercise. However, exercising provides huge benefits to your body, so while some say it's okay to not exercise when trying to lose, adding exercise to your schedule really shouldn't be ignored.)
But can I give some unsolicited advice when it comes to challenges? You might want to put down a number for a goal instead of keeping it so nebulous as 'start to exercise'. Putting a number to things gives you a tangible goal. Even if you start out low, like say - I'm going to walk 10 miles before the end of the month (which would be about a mile a day every other day or about 20-30 minutes of walking those days depending on how fast you go), it gives your brain something to shoot for. If you end up walking an average of a 1/2 a mile a day when you do exercise, then don't beat yourself up. You still did more than last month! Claim that victory. But, next month set the same goal until you accomplish it. If you end up walking more than a mile a each day, even better - you blew through a goal that you made that you thought would be attainable. Be sure to set a higher goal for next month to stretch yourself. Our brains need quantitative goals with time periods / deadlines to be most successful. And you deserve to be successful!0 -

Expected a 5-10mph headwind and light chop...instead paddled in a 10-15mph headwind with moderate chop. It was brutal, but still a good day on the water. Saw a big old sea turtle (just the head) battling the waves today too (scared me at first because I didn't know what it was). No dolphins, but some crabs, rays and lots of jumping mullet. Going to go pass out now...
