I made a posting and the site came up that 'it was sorry it could not post it'; I did not try it again. Then I tried to write a private message and again, it would not send it. That time it also 'ate' the whole thing.

Does anybody know if it is just MFP in general, or if it is this thread? I'm not on any other thread but this one.

    Hi all!

I'm back from Hove, having seen four houses.
First one was a washout, second one was in a great location with great off road parking, but needed masses of remodelling.
Third one was a no go.
Fourth one was beautiful, but the whole kitchen area needed a major remodel.

The upshot of our day is that we have a much better idea of possible areas plus we are realising that major remodelling is on the cards and we would have to allow for that in our offer. We don't have enough money for a house in our preferred area which is already in a condition and profile to suit us. Do we really want to do a major revamp?
    Something to think about.
We got a chance to call in on the grandchildren, who were very excited to see us. <3<3 Then we left and had a pub dinner on the way home. I broke even on calories as we did a lot of walking. :D
I think we are going ahead and have a favourite area now. Near the sea, near some very nice local shops and a bus ride, or a 30 minute walk from the grandchildren. The other house we liked was nearer the grandchildren, but not so near the sea. Gorgeous proportions though.

Photographer coming tomorrow to snap our house. Big tidy up.

Thank you all so much for your welcoming words! I truly do appreciate it!

Just to tell you a little bit about myself. I am 54 years old. I live in the country, right outside Fort Worth Texas. We bought a couple of acres two years ago just outside of the city limits and we are loving it. It's more work but a lot of fun too. I am an aesthetician, but I only work part time now and I work from home. I love oil painting and I do a lot of crafty mixed media projects for fun. My husband and I love to travel when we can. We did not have children but we have nieces and nephews that we are very close to. We also have two precious doggies that are our babies. Lol!
I am lucky to have my mom and sister both living nearby so we also get to spend a lot of time together.

At my age I'm going through the normal hormone imbalances and I'm trying to get all that straightened out. With that has come a lot of challenges; such as weight gain, some hair loss and some other kooky side effects.

Joyce: It sounds like you had a good time. I love the pictures--except the snake. UGH! :noway:

Charleen in CO: I think your story about job offers is a definite NSV.

Barbie: Your big day sounds delightful. Ice packs reduce swelling without putting unneeded chemicals into your body, which is a plus. Having to be still to use the ice packs is likely tough for someone as active as you are. :flowerforyou:

Heather: It sounds like you're making progress and are getting a good understanding of things you need and what the costs will be.

    Tammylee: Welcome! :flowerforyou:

I got my hair cut today after yoga, and am very pleased with how well it turned out. The beautician has a friend who has an extra horse to get exercised and may consider a partial lease. I gave the hairdresser my phone number and we'll see whether it results in a call. The weather is lovely and DH & I went out to lunch at a Thai place with a great view of the waterfront area. It looks like they're getting ready for a bonfire. We had one last year and it was fun. This year I expect to be in Illinois for the birth of our new grand baby and will miss the bonfire. DH is staying home but I seriously doubt he'll want to go out at night to see the bonfire.

1948CWB - Try to send me a 'friend request' ... I'm not able to do so from my end. Tried sending a PM to you and it won't go through. It'll probably show up 5x like one of my previous posts. Sorry for the repeats; but, it was because of something going on with MFP. I certainly did not do it on purpose.

Welcome to the 'newbies' ... when I looked at my "friends" there were several that showed up that they checked in today ... wonder if that is that they 'posted', 'just read', or tried sending a PM. Some of the faces were 'new' faces to me; some older ones. Michele from NC did show up as 'checking in'; but, did not see a post here since my last one, nor did I get a PM from her, so I don't know how she fared during the storm. Hopefully, she is "OK".

Called the ER billing office and asked why they charged us $18 for self-administered drugs. He never, so much, as got an aspirin and I told her that I was 'in the room' with him the whole time. She had tried to explain that if he got an aspirin it would show up as self-administered. I told her (again) that he received no kind of medication; and, asked her if 'peeing on himself' (which took care of the issue we had come there for in the first place) was self-administered drugs? It gave him a lot of relief; maybe he got charged for the huge pair of paper scrubs. The MD just stuck his head in the door and told him that since he had been able to relieve himself and already had an appointment scheduled for the following Tuesday, he was not going to put a catheter in him. Five sentences that cost $295. I told her that 'if' we ever had another ER trip; we'd be coming there, for sure. Such a short trip. From our house, sitting in the waiting room, being x-rayed, seen by the MD, and home - only 4 hours. We would have sat in the same branch of the hospital in Albany for a minimum of 4 hours. Good; because when he went to Urologist, they put him to sleep to do the procedure the first time. The 2nd time, they did it to him awake! They won't do that again! He had another attack when we were at the beach; and, my sisters and BsnL tried their best to get him to let him take him to the ER. He would not go. So we went out to eat at a 4.5-star restaurant that was w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l! MS's friend who has been in the 'restaurant business' all his adult life said, there isn't any restaurant that is a 5-star restaurant, not matter how good they are; but, 4.5 stars was close enough. I've never been to a restaurant that fancy in my life. I sure hated that DH was not able to go with us. Hospital is going to adjust the charges.

He is going to another Urologist next week. In the same practice; but, his Urologist is out on a 'medical leave'. Mmmmm???? I think this one might be younger. DH asked me today if I thought what he was going through was his body trying to 'pass kidney stones'. I'm NOT a MD; but, with the things I've heard about it, it is akin to a man having a baby. His moaning and groaning is like I probably was when I had my sons. First time, DH not allowed to come into the delivery room (or was chased out during the delivery); 2nd son born in Macon and it was like day versus night in how I got treated by everybody. What a difference 2 years made.

Next weigh-in on the 20th; and his appointment later that day. Maybe we can go to eat lunch after I get finished and before his time.

The doctor called this morning, all the tests came back negative (which is great news) so we don't know what caused the rash. It could have been from a virus or perhaps stress related, they dont know. I will be on steroids for two-three months to give my body time to heal and build up my immune system.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.

Hi all, I had a productive day off, finished 2 loads of laundry, made lots of chicken stock for freezer, roasted a chicken, walked 5 miles and oh yeah unclogged the vacuum, not necessarily in that order!

The social gathering yestersday was not fun, but I survived and didn't overdo it at the restaurant or afterwards.

Happy to only have 2 days of work before the weekend! NYKAREN

Hi Tammy - I live in Granbury about 45 miles SW of FW! Small world, right. Glad you joined us.
Well, I broke down and went back to WW this morning. Several of my friends go so it wasn't too bad.
Better get some dinner ready for DH when he gets home from golf.

Katla, in the Q&A session the snake lady had after showing off her snake, a couple of people who had never even touched a snake got brave enough to touch it. All were amazed at how a snake feels as to what everyone thinks it does. I don't mind the touch of one or holding one as long as I know it has been fed and not be as agressive to me. When Michelle had her snake, she would never ever touch him right before it was time to eat or if he was getting ready to shed it's skin. His eye sight is very poor right before they shed and you do not want to bother them. I have never dealt with a skin in the wild, just those in captivity and I know the feeding and shed schedule. I would also never deal with a venomous snake. This one was a constrictor but if you hold him the right way, he never feels threatened. I also know a registered zoo would never have visitors have physical contact with a snake that was in a dangerous state. You have to consider the big picture to be safe.

Heather, sorry you had a bad house searching day and had your eyes opened to some potential problems.

Grandmallie: I have not had a chance to catch Texas Flip but I will have to look for it. I am hooked on Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines. They are in Waco Texas which is only about an hour from where we live.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening Ladies,

KarenE, so glad you have “Lit up your Life”. It’s wonderful that there are things that can help with some of our problems. I don’t suffer from SAD but do like it well-lit unless I’m watching TV or some reason. DH isn’t such a fan of bright lights so we go behind each other turning lights up and down. Lol

Heather, how dare you throw that living plant in the garbage. I guess it showed you. LOL Congrats on no gain while on holiday. That walking does help. Good luck in Hove.

Allie, I’ll keep Chester in my thoughts along with DFIL. I hope he is better soon. It gets scary when they are up in age.

Barbie, did you have to ice your back because it was bothering you or because it’s part of your instructions? I hope it’s not waking you up.

Joyce, your little trip sounds like quite an adventure. I think it’s so cute that Charlie is becoming a cell phone user, deluxe. I love the pictures and especially you with the snake.

Charleen, I’d say that’s a NSV. Congrats. I’d think that a non-political person would be just what they need for an election judge.

Barbie, how nice to get your computer fixed at no charge. And that you didn’t have to leave it for a few days.

Heather, it sounds like a successful trip to explore housing options. That puts you one step closer to knowing what you want to do.

Allie, glad Chester’s surgery went well. Now how is DFIL?

Janetr, I’m so happy that the tests came back negative. Isn’t it great to flunk some tests?

If it’s warm enough tomorrow we will go to the beach for a while after we check into the hotel. It is supposed to be in the mid to upper 70’s so I’m crossing my fingers. I may not have another chance this year and I need at least one more beach fix. relaxing-outside-smiley-emoticon.gif
Sending love and good thoughts to all of you and I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy Day!

    Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
    and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.

Subdew: What a small world! I love Granbury! My aunt lives there so I am in Granbury several times a year. It is such a pretty town. I love shopping in the Square at all the little boutiques. Such a pretty lake there too.

Janetr - Sooooo pleased to hear that the tests were negative. I remember my first husband had a rash a bit like yours and they decided in the end it was viral. Hoping for a quick recovery for you. <3

Busy day today getting ready for the photos of the house.
