Happy birthday, Heather! Enjoy your trip
Margaret, love the zombie birds! How funny.
My thoughts and prayers are with those of you who are recovering or hurting.

Did 1 hr yoga DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do one segment of an ab DVD, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class.
It's really good to change things up. Remember I did the Personal Training with Jackie DVD yesterday? Well, in that DVD she uses the "pyramid" technique. That's where she does two exercises, one rep, then two and so on until you are doing 10 reps of those two exercises. Then she goes on to another set of exercises. Well, today I can really feel my outer bicep
barbie - pain pills can hinder your p**ping. I remember many years ago I had a hemmerhoidectomy (hope that's the right spelling). Anyway, I wasn't taking the pain med (I have a high tolerance for pain) and Vince kept asking me "are you taking anything". It got to the point that I was beginning to wonder if I was somehow hindering my healing by not taking them. So I called the office and they told me that if I didn't need them, not to take them as the pain meds will make it more difficult to p**p. "(and let me fold it so it would be done my way)" -- don't you mean the CORRECT way???? Vince always says that he'd only get me a maid if I absolutely needed one because he knows me and I'd clean before the maid got here because I didn't want her to see the house a mess and then I'd clean after she left because she didn't do it the right way.
Heather - it never ceases to amaze me how wonderful you are with your hubby. Happy Birthday
Got up and while I was exercising put a turkey breast in the oven to have later in the week. I knew it would take about 2 hours to bake. Then made a BBQ corn chicken casserole to take to Mexican Train Tuesday. Vince really wants to go, to me I wouldn't mind at all not going. Then made a fudge cake for one of the gals who runs the ceramics. It's her birthday Wednesday. I tried putting the rest of the icing that I'd made but that cake really isn't made for icing, maybe just some confectioners sugar on top. Well...live and learn. vince is putting up more Halloween decorations.
Tomorrow is one of my busy days. Exercise, then bowling, then home for a quick dinner, ceramics, then mahjongg. I'm on the third coat of paint for the pelicans, so they should be done fairly soon. then to work on the tree stump they sit on
Have to confess. I had a cheese sandwich last night. Well, I did want to get those cheese slices out of the refrigerator. I usually keep them for when Jess comes, she many times wants to have a cheeseburger. So now they're out of the refrig and I won't be putting any more in until the summertime rolls around. Vince needs to grill chicken tonight for us to have during the week. I have it marinating. Actually, I'm planning to have it for dinner tomorrow so he really needs to get it done.
Charleen - great job tiling! I'm not ready for snow. You can keep it
Margaret - OHHHH, those zombie flamingoes look so so neat
Alison - hope Homer and Chester feel better fast

Barbie - as one who is right there with you, stool softeners. a must have when on pain medication. the first couple of days were rough but ..... things are flowing nicely now. i take the max dose every day as long as i'm on the pain meds. softeners, not laxatives.

Pip, your knees look like they will bug you for a long time...hugs to you
Marcelyn, I am taking a stool softener, a mild laxative, Metamucil, and eating foods with good fiber.. I p**ped big time at 3 AM.
About balance...today I took a 90 minute nap in the recliner, a two hour nap in bed with all three pets, folded laundry, and had short phone conversations with three friends.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Ladies,
Jane, so glad the grandbaby is well enough to go home. I’d have been a wreck, too.
Juanita, congrats on your loss. Keep up the good work and come visit with us a bit more often.
MicheleTX, welcome. I love cruising and yours sounds like an absolute blast. Good luck on getting those knees in shape. Come here often for lots of support and information.
Dana, welcome to you as well. It sounds like some great goals so we will all look forward to your progress.
Joyce, I know it is such a hard decision about fixing up the house or selling it as is. Depending on what all needs to be done, it is usually worth the money to fix many things. If it is a house you would like to stay in, if fixed up, it would definitely be worth considering. Try not to keep yourself awake at night with visions of handymen dancing through your head.
Margaret, good for you on working to speak up for yourself. People shouldn’t be able to say unkind things and get away with it. You go girl!!!
Pip, sorry for your fall but even with swollen knees, they are still purdy!
Marcelyn, so happy to hear from you. Please take care and heal quickly!!
CarolGA, I knew from the post that it was you but wondered what the deal was with the new nic.
Toni, so happy to see you back. Don’t you leave us again. (((Hugs)))
Tracie, welcome back. No one said it was all easy but you can do this. We are with you!!
Joyce, that is so sad about Michelle’s dog. It is so hard on us when we lose a loved one like that.
Barbie, so glad Jake is stepping up and happy you are feeling that good!!! Just take your own advice and don’t overdo. (((Hugs))) gently
Heather, Sorry about your DH’s panic attack. It does seem to happen before most of your trips. At least you know what to do. (((Hugs))) to you both.
Kelly, so sorry to hear you are trying to get sick. Sending healing thoughts for a short and fast cold.
Charlene, I love the tile and it looks like a pro job!!
Carey, congrats on your losses for last month. Keep up the great work!
Heather, it sounds like a lovely birthday. Have a wonderful trip and we look forward to hearing all about it.
Margaret, I love your birds. LOL
Allie, that is amazing that Tom will spend $1000 on a pet and raises hell about spending $500 on your health. Go figure?
to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
We had a Chinese auction at the Moose today. It is always fun even if there’s nothing I want or nothing I win. I did get some beautiful evening bags that I can use on the cruises. (Don’t go anywhere else formal any more.) Won a new keyboard for DH’s computer as his “M” has stopped working and a couple of Christmas items. Tomorrow night is our regular meeting night and it’s Christmas in October so I get to take out my Christmas sweaters. Woo hoo. Long day so heading to bed.
Sending love and good thoughts to all of you and I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy Day!
Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
I Love you,

Hello ladies: I have had a lovely but not very active day. Church this morning with a meeting afterward, then DH and I went to Everett to hear a group called Cherish the Ladies. It is a group of five women that does Celtic folk music. There are also two dancers and a vocalist from Scotland. It was a very good concert and we really enjoyed it. We finally have found some musical offerings here in our part of WA that are affordable for us and for that I am very grateful. Food choices were not the greatest but not too bad either. I was a little over my calories.
Pip - Ouch!! Hope you are icing those knees.
Heather - Happy Birthday! Have a wonderful trip.
KJ - Hope the cold is not too bad and goes away soon.
Margaret - My DD wants to know where you got your zombie flamingos. She had some but they need to be replaced and she likes yours better.
Hope all the surgery people continue to recover quickly.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA2 -
Heather: Happy Birthday!!!!!
Pip: I'm sorry about your poor knees. :flowerforyou:
Gloria: The mattress has been moved to our room. I hope DH likes it. The man is a lot of work, but so far I still think he's worth it.
KarenE: I hope we don't have to move the mattress again, too. :grumble:
Barbie: You seem to have a well balanced life: rest, pets, and friends.
We moved mattresses today and DH is now tucked in to the new one he hated until now. I like it fine and have slept in it many times when his snoring kept me awake in our room. Now it is in our room and if he snores me out I'll have to use the old one that we just moved to the guest room. If this is a hit I'm planning to ask for another like the new one for the guest room, and we can take the old mattress to the dump.

Beth NY , where are you, I'm missing you. How's your son doing at school? I'm currently about two hours drive from Nashville. Please let us know if you are okay.
Janetr okc0 -
Did not sleep a wink. Grrrrrr! DH is sleeping. Will make a cup of tea and take it up in a minute. Taxi coming in 75 mins.
Speak soon, Heather UK2 -
Heather - happy birthday a day late and safe travels!
Pip - dang, girl.
Barbie - glad everything's coming out OK.
Marcelyn - glad you're doing OK, too.
Toni - welcome back!
JanetR - hope you can get a resolution... so frustrating for you, I know.
Welcome to all the new ones, my goal for September was "be lighter," and I gained one pound. My goal for October is "be lighter."
Settling into a couple hours work each morning in the warehouse, except for Tues/Weds, run-up to press and press day. This week, we're publishing on pink paper in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. Finished up a massive research article on the latest research, it will be the center fold piece.
The warehouse work is for the last blowout sale of the stuff I picked up from my sis, plus everything we couldn't fit into the camper. We're adjusting well to camper life, made grilled pizza last night for dinner--fresh pizza dough I make myself, grilled on the gas grill. Yum. Much better than anything that can be bought, especially here.
Still making plans for the life we want--and settling into this life as a means to that end. There's a lot of joy in that for both of us.
Lovin' y'all,

Morning Ladies~
one of the Dr's is out today, so going to text Mary and see if I can go in at noon, I will still get my 30 hrs and I am just going to take Homer down at 8 when they open up.. with the pee sample of course..
Tom is the pee sample king, when he takes one out for a walk, he takes a small plastic cup out and a flashlight, and when they need to pee he sticks the cup under , he has small snaptop plastic bottles at work that he brings home and labels with there name on them.
Yup he would spend any amount of money on the dogs, but cranks about what I need, we know where his priorities lie..
Pip~ so sorry about your knee's they look painful.. please take care.
Heather~ have a wonderful trip1 -
Quick check in.
Bit the bullet yesterday and got on the scale, gained 9 lbs. since I started this job in June. Ouch! Made up my mind yesterday to get it off before it rises any more. Yesterday was day 1. Took my winter clothes out yesterday. So sad to see summer go.
Love to everyone.
Chris in MA3 -
chris you sound determined--we're with you. Get planning and prepping cause once the holidays rollin all bets are off. I am planning on being lighter before winter rolls in cause I usually put on a few pounds or stay on my plateau weight. Keep checking in, this works.

262.45 later, Homer has a temp, and an infection of some sort, had to take a blood panel and did a Lyme test, not Lyme, gave him a Antibiotic shot, and antibiotic's to start tomorrow and put fluid under his skin to get some fluids into him poor baby...and so it went on the credit card, and probably next weeks operation for Chester will too.
went to work after that and the snip said what are you doing here I told you 12, so I took date nut bread and pies to dad with his birthday card, but he couldn't talk he does a once a month prayer conference call and it was about to start so off I go..
another friend of mine 5 yrs younger than I died of a brain tumor over the weekend.. just seems we are losing so many people so young.. but it is a blessing, she has been bad for awhile...0 -

Sue I got the Zombie Flamingos at a place called Value Thrift. I think they get new merchandise from companies that go out of business. When they sell out they do not restock. That is why I bought them when I could. On the package it says they were distributed by Forum Novelties Melville, NY. Hope that helps. I looked them up on line Oriental Trading Sells them. They are smaller then the pink flamingos and I did have to use and awl to make the hole in the bottom to accept the metal legs. I am enjoying them and they do make me laugh.

Hi all and thanks for worrying about me.
I'm fine, just busy. I've got a post started but will need to get some pics downloaded before it will be worth posting. Too much going on for me to manage that just now.
Just a quick recap of my September goals and how I did on them:
Eat 500 grams of vegetables every day – Failed. I think I managed maybe 7 days.
Strength training twice a week – Failed. Only twice in the whole month.
Run 180 km - ACED IT!
The two failures were partly because I was even farther north than usual for a few days (on which more later), but most of the time it was my own fault.
But I'm darn proud of my running success. I managed to get in 184 km, nearly 115 miles. Yay ME!
According to the principle that the best way to succeed is to try one more time, my October goals are:
* Eat 500 grams of vegetables every day
* Go to the gym for strength training twice a week
* Run 160 km
/Penny, busy at the North Pole
PS: I forget who asked how I make my signature blue, but it's very simple. You just write color=blue (in square brackets [...] without spaces) and everything after that is blue. Or orange or green or turquoise or magenta or whatever color you write, unless you get too adventuresome and write in a color that isn't recognized, like [ color=fuchsia ], in which case you get nothing at all.

Heather: It sounds like you're too excited to sleep. I hope you can rest along the way. :flowerforyou:
Lisa: Is it possible for you to post a link for us so that we can read your article on breast cancer?
Chris in MA: I gained weight every year that I taught and every year I took part of it off in the summer. The net result was always upward. I blamed stress eating, but the real problem was that I didn't know how to make good choices & needed to count calories. :ohwell: Now I know.
Yoga today! Yay!!! We also have a furnace repairman coming out to work on our furnace. We've had some issues with it and need to have it in good order before winter sets in. This is mostly preventative maintenance. We had another company doing the work for us before and we were not happy with their business practices. The cost didn't fit the level of service.

October Resolutions :
1. Log every bite and swallow.
2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week. Work on flexibility and back strength.
3. Have fun every day.
4. Drink at least three glasses of water daily, preferably more!
5. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.
