    My Total/November: 56.75 miles
    Mike's Total: 14 miles

My run was thwarted by a rainstorm yesterday so I ended up just taking a rest day. Fun Thanksgiving Day run with Mike and Fergus this morning. Mike stuck with me the whole 5 miles. I like when he is along cause he pushes my pace a bit and I ran this 5 miles faster than any of my previous runs with each mile well under 13 minutes. (I usually average right around 13 - 13.25 minutes per mile.) I also found a 10K race to do in January and am looking at a couple to choose from in February. I think I am going to shoot for one race each month if I can find them. I am so just feeling really good today.

I think my shoes are done. The left one is making a weird floppy noise with each step, though I can't find anything loose anywhere. It just doesn't "feel " quite right either. These are my Newtons that I had back in 2005 when I was running and I have no idea how many miles they have on them. They are looking pretty worn. I was trying to get them to make it to the end of the month, but I think I am going to have to swap them out in the next day or so. Fortunately, I have another pair that only has a few miles on it; I hope they can get me through the end of January or so before I have to buy another pair.

On the shoe count - I love shoes. I only have a couple of pairs of running/walking shoes. But, I have about 30 pairs of dress shoes, sandals and heels. There is no such thing as too many shoes! I have a feeling I am going to be spending some $$$ on running shoes in the near future. :)

    Have a great day everyone!

    Upcoming Race:
12/3 Snowball Run 5K, Kingwood TX
1/22 Choco Loco 10K, Houston, TX

OK, so the ticker does eventually update, it just seems to take it a while. :(

Out for a recovery run following yesterdays HM effort. Was an "easy" 30 minutes (4.4k) - I was very tired but actually my legs didn't feel anywhere near as bad as I would have expected. After yesterdays 21k I wore compression shorts for about 6 hours and compression calf sleeves overnight. Today it was my hamstrings that were (slightly) tight, but nothing that a proper warm up wouldn't have sorted if I'd have bothered to do one! Glutes were fine, and my calves actually felt good and better than they have in days so yay to my compressport sleeves! Interestingly my upper body was pretty stiff all over - probably because I neglected that in post run stretch yesterday, so have made sure to stretch all over this afternoon.

I hope all you US runners have a great thanksgiving, and a great start to the streak for those of you partaking. Nothing special planned this side of the pond - probably another early night to continue recovery.

    2-Nov: 13.1k - 3 laps of hilly route.
    4-Nov: 6.26k - Planned 11k easy, but cut short as very stiff/tired.
    7-Nov: 11.25k long run.
    9-Nov: 6k fast
12-Nov: 18k long run [Distance PR] Very wet.
14-Nov (AM): 5.1k easy. Wet and sluggish (no warm-up)
    14-Nov (PM): 10k as 5k tempo + 5k intervals
    16-Nov: 8.3k - 2 laps of hill circuit
19-Nov: 7.4k trail run at approx HM pace.
20-Nov: 11.5k - planned 19.5k long run but cut short due to tight left achilles.
23-Nov: 21.2k HM pacing practice [Distance PR]
    24-Nov: 4.4k (30 mins) recovery run

First run since the marathon and it felt surprisingly good! I did a 2 mile loop while the oven pre-heated for my pizza and then 2 more while it cooked. Came into the house as the timer had 30 seconds left. Perfect timing! Now gorging myself on pizza, watching Netflix, and lounging around the rest of the day.

I helped time our local Turkey Trot this morning and that was quite the experience. Helped put together timing mats, entered over 100 race day registrants (and my coworkers registered ~150 between the two of them) into the timing system, and then helped tear everything down. I was frozen by the end -- numb toes, frozen fingers -- and came away with way more respect for the timing staff & race volunteers. I think they have it harder than the runners on cold days!

    Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Managed 3.5 miles this morning (plus 1 mile walk) which I think felt okay other than I got tired. I'll see how my shin and foot react as I resume running. I was up all night with sick hubby so I'm literally running on fumes at this point. I only slept 9:30-11:30pm. It was 40F with light wind. My legs were stinging from the cold until the running warmed me up. Thanksgiving lunch at inlaws. I need to go home and nap! Great job everybody who ran this holiday morning :)

Very hot, dry and windy here today. Not ideal running weather but I wanted to get a Turkey Trot 10k in even though I wasn't actually running in a race. When I got near the house I realized I was close to 7 miles so I just kept running the cul-de-sacs until I hit 7+

Just got in a few easy runs both Tuesday and Today (as I biked 100 miles up to Thanksgiving yesterday and just did some walking in the evening).

Looks like I'll need to average about 7 miles/day to hit my number, and should get there by the 30th.

    11/1 - 5 miles
    11/3 - 1 mile
    11/4 - 2 miles
11/5 - 27 miles (26.2 plus two very long runs through transition)
    11/9 - 3 miles
    11/13 - 22 miles (10K race + 2 miles of re-positioning + 14 miles of marathon pacing)
    11/17 - 5 miles
    11/18 - 6 miles
    11/21 - 12 miles
    11/22 - 7 miles
    11/24 - 8.5 miles

    Total: 98.5 miles
    Goal: 140 miles
    Remaining: 41.5 miles

    2016 Race Schedule:
    Disney Marathon - Jan 6 - 3:29:09

Turkey Trot in Cedar Rapids, Iowa today - got a new 5k PR! 31:19 official time, which was about a minute faster than my previous best time. Also, according to Strava, I had my best 1k, 1/2 mile, 1 mile, and 2 mile efforts. I was so excited!

@kristinegift - I enjoyed the run in your hometown of CR today. Great crowd and well-run race. And we got lucky with the weather being pretty good!

Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving today - or regular Thursday running for the rest of you all.

Didn't make it out with my running club last night as it was bitterly cold with a sharp wind and I didn't have gloves with me - I get Raynauds so wanted to at least have pinkish fingers by the end of it!!

ran on the dreadmill instead for 4 miles. There were no 'mile' treadmills available so I had to run on the kilometre one which was interesting as I had no clue what sort of speed to aim for. I'm British and we are fairly bilingual when it comes to the metric/imperial thing, but not so much with kilometres. Just doesn't make sense to me.

So in some ways it was nice. I ran by feel, and though I was slow but my tomtom suggested a faster pace than I thought. Todays TV offerings were two different news channels with absolute gobbledegook for subtitles. I KNOW that's not what they were saying even though the sound was off!!

Off to watch a rugby game tonight - except I'll be supporting the away side so hope I don't get lynched!!

Have a sports massage booked for the morning to iron out some niggles - I have a niggle on the hamstring, and calf, and also my shoulder, all on the right side of my body so am hoping we can work out what's going on there.

Went out for a chilly run yesterday (ony in the 30's fahrenheit, so it could be a lot worse).

    exercise.png

Look, I might make it to 30 after all. I'm hiking today and tomorrow (camping out overnight). I won't count the hiking mileage because it isn't running... but I am not an ultralight hiker and I'm bringing way too much food and a basic light stove for coffee only (weight will even out probably considering I normally bring a gourmet stove and heavy fuel canister). So with the hills and weight, I'll get a bit of a workout regardless.

So two weekends ago I bought my daughter a new pair of running shoes, and told her they were only for running. Guess what I saw on floor in the entry way after she came home from college...yep, her running shoes. I could tell from the dirt she had been wearing them more than just for running, if she even did do any running. I'm not happy and may tell her that's the last pair of running shoes I buy for her.

Maybe she needs some walking around shoes too? Or just bonding with them.

    Perhaps this.

I'm starting to get ashamed of how many shoes I am starting to have... and I just bought 2 pair last weekend because I needed some new walking around shoes and they had a special for 1/2 off your 2nd pair. Prior to that, I bought a new pair of hiking boots less than 1 month ago. Problem is that I never seem to get rid of the old. My old hiking boots have a hole in one of them... I have worn them only once since buying the new, but why can't I bring myself to throw them out? The old "walking around" shoes are now my "yard work" shoes - the reason I needed new is that they are very worn and they are stained from lawn mowing anyway. It just seems like I now have so many shoes - 3 formal (at varying levels of fancy), 2 hiking boots, 1 work boots, 1 yard work, 1 road running, 1 trail running, 1 gym, and 1 everyday walking around / shopping / whatever.

ETA: Oh yea... and a "walking around in house, but not something I would wear in public" pair... not slippers, technically. And I have a pair of water shoes and flip flops. Listing these out makes me feel even worse. It's crazy. I probably should get a shoe organizer.

I can totally relate to this....too many shoes....I will throw the ones with holes away. I have a shoe tree (organizer) but still so many that the organizer can't hold all of them.Like you, my old shoes become yard shoes. Only 2 pair of running shoes thus far!

Say, anyone else collect outerwear....I have quite the collection.. I just drool over a pretty coat.

I have over 300 pairs. Every shape and color and pattern. I have lots of leopard print. I love shoes. I have at least 8 pair of running shoes in rotation and 4 pairs in boxes. I have to stay out of the Nike outlets or I bring more home.
