    Sigh.

    My Garmin will no longer pair with my phone. I have tried everything I could find online, including power cycling both the watch and the phone, turning bluetooth off and on, removing the device from Garmin Connect, you name it. Nothing works. The app keeps telling me it can't find the watch.

    Has anyone else had this issue? Is there anything else I can try? If I can't figure it out soon, I guess I'll have to contact Garmin tech support.

    I had this happen before and literally spent hours turning Bluetooth off and on, uninstalling/reinstalling the app, powering off the watch and phone. It finally reconnected but I don't know why. I had continued problems for awhile where my texts wouldn't come through. I think an update to my phone software actually caused it and when I got another update all the problems finally went away.

    Didn't sleep very well at all last night. Decided would try long run (20k) anyway, but wouldn't beat myself up if I just didn't have it in me.

    When I first set out my GPS just wasn't working, even after trying to turn it off and on a couple of times. I was heading out on a new route for me so had no idea about distances so eventually I stopped after about 2.7k (at the point I was diverting from a previously used route) whilst I completely rebooted my phone to try to get GPS working again. Unfortunately made the mistake of drinking too much whilst I was stopped, so when I set off again had lots of liquid bouncing about in my stomach with inevitable consequences. Managed 1.2km before having to walk for a few minutes. I decided to divert via a nearby wooded area just in case (and because it took me back in the direction towards home), and when things had calmed down again I tried to run again. Got another 1.9k before I had to give up running completely and walked the last ~2k home. Typically by time I got home I felt fine but obviously motivation completely gone. Frustrating but I'll rest up this afternoon and try again tomorrow. I'm just focusing on fact I still managed 5.8k running (plus a fair bit of walking) so can't be too upset!

    Another plus side to todays run is I the wooded area I found seems like a fantastic hilly trail running spot, so I'll definitely be investigating more on future runs!

    4-Nov: 6.26k - Planned 11k easy, but cut short as very stiff/tired.
    7-Nov: 11.25k long run.
    9-Nov: 6k fast
    12-Nov: 18k long run [Distance PR] Very wet.
    14-Nov (AM): 5.1k easy. Wet and sluggish (no warm-up)
    14-Nov (PM): 10k as 5k tempo + 5k intervals
    16-Nov: 8.3k - 2 laps of hill circuit
    19-Nov: 7.4k trail run at approx HM pace.
    20-Nov: 11.5k - planned 19.5k long run but cut short due to tight left achilles.
    23-Nov: 21.2k HM pacing practice [Distance PR]
    24-Nov: 4.4k (30 mins) recovery run
    25-Nov: 6.3k "tired" run
    26-Nov: 5.3k easy (actually nearer HM pace than easy)
    27-Nov: 5.8k over three seperate starts when attempting a long run :(

    So I'm mostly back up and running, just got one little kink to work out.

    @RespectTheKitty -- glad it's working now. So frustrating. But Garmin tech support is very good.

    Nice run with my daughter today. She flies back to NYC today and I'm on a four day field trip starting tomorrow. Students presenting a project they wrote using HTC Vive. I always love the convention but it's so hard getting everything planned for the rest of my students.

    Finished out the week in Iowa with a chilly run this morning. I had to go back in the house and get more layers as it felt colder than the temp indicated. Rain is headed in pretty soon so I'm glad to have gotten the run in. All my runs this week have felt really good, and I ended up with 25.5 miles for the week. According to Strava, I haven't done that much in a week since the week of September 5, which was before I did my half marathons (the trail one and my goal one in Oct). I'm happy with my progress because I felt pretty beat up after those races and now am running pain free. Who knows, maybe I will be crazy enough to do another one someday. :)

    Tomorrow I head back home on an early flight, so I plan to take it as a rest day. I'll have to see how the rest of the week pans out. I know there will be snow on the ground at home but not sure what the forecast is shaping up to be. I haven't wanted to look yet.

    11/11 3 miles - I've missed a whole week! I caught a heavy cold in my chest where I could hardly get a sentence out without coughing never mind trying to run. It was totally self inflicted as I didn't dress properly for the huge drop in temperature when running the week before. Plus I was mental busy workwise so could read the posts I did see @5BeautifulDays is back so Welcome Back!
    27/11 3.5 miles - 1st run in over 2 weeks, too busy with work, I need to manage my time better cos its the same every year.

    @RespectTheKitty - Glad ur feeling a bit better.

    Glad you got it back working. I recall once my watch wouldn't sync with the phone. I tried a bunch of stuff, including deleting the watch as a known Bluetooth device and repairing. I got it working again, but I don't know which things I tried were irrelevant and which fixed it.

    One thing I've noticed and been annoyed by is that Garmin Connect on my phone refuses to talk to my watch unless it has an internet connection. So the morning my ISP went down, I couldn't sync my watch to the phone until I turned off WiFi on the phone and let it use network data at home. I think that's an incredibly dumb way to design an app, but that's what it does.

    I'm also on the lookout for some good deals for summer running socks. My main socks are now 2 summers old and should probably be replaced.

    @7lenny7 I improved my time by 10 min, but since it was my second time I do this distance (once in training) my time isn't something to brag about, just 5 min above 2 hours. But hey I felt my body break at 15k and it was fun, fun, fun. Great job for your trail run, awesome pics mate
