Understood. However, if you're in the UK, get on the referral list ASAP- average waiting time for non urgent NHS referrals is 12-24 weeks. Likely different stateside. Your health needs to be a priority, sweets.

I'm in the US. I am trying to make it a priority. But I do have to be present for my job.
I barely started there June 5th. So once I've been there a while I'll start making plans.

Trying to figure out why I get headaches after taking a nap.

    Maybe you're overnapped

I wish. I'll take a 20 minute nap or a 2 hour nap. Still wake up with a headache.

Do you get tension in your jaw when you sleep? Like grinding or clenching?

I've been told I grind my teeth, a lot, I also have a wisdom tooth that's on a nerve, and my oral surgeon told me I would need an inpatient surgery to have it removed. I would need a specialist to have this done.

Get a referral to have it removed and a night bite guard made,

I want to, but hasn't been on my priority list. I just started the job that I'm at. I'm waiting for benefits and can't have the down time right now.

just get a temporary night guard from a pharmacy until the benefits kick in.

it can save your teeth..... and a lot of downtime, pain & money

Now this I can do easily

Again, understood. I know it works differently there, but, don't leave it too long.

yeah, even a sporting goods store will have mouthguards

it won't be nearly as good as the one from the dentist, but will do in a pinch

This. Even if you just clench and don't grind, a guard is going to widen the gap enough that it relieves tension.

Source: I've read the whole internet

Kidding. My jaw locked shut in high school when my masseter spasmed and it took months to find a dr who could help me. It actually ended up being a chiro. A very handsome chiro. And to my great embarrassment, he had to order me repeatedly to stop biting his fingers while he massaged the inside of my mouth. After he was able to release the spasm, he told me to just go out and get a football guard. Now they have better ones more suitable for nighttime wear. But it helped so much.

..just don't suck the air out too hard when you're forming it. It'll rub like crazy.

    Chiro over dentist...

Nope, didn't make sense at all.. until after I had seen several dentists, an oral surgeon, and an orthodontist, all of whom referred me to each other and couldn't actually help me. My parents became desperate to get me help. When someone recommended the chiro, we tried him as a last resort.
