Are internet friends real or merely strangers. It's better to have internet friends that bolster you UP than those who look you directly in the eye and betray you behind your back.
But sometimes internet “friends” can do both. “Looking in the eye” not being actual face to face of course. But sometimes it FEELS like a real friendship and then you realize you’re the only one who actually felt that way. And that kinda sucks. It sucks to be genuine in someone else’s pretend world.9 -
Sleep or shop online ? 🤔2

Silly question.. Shop online of course.. and get me something nice3 -
@MelG7777 Mmm hmm. I cared about a bunch of friends that all ended up being the same person. Catfished. They were imaginary people, men and women, young and old with all kinds of different troubles and lives. I cared. I said some serious prayers for all of their imaginary problems. Then one day the dawn came to light. I still cared with empathy because I know life must not be easy for them. I wondered what in the world happened to fracture someone so much they could not be themselves.7

My real life best friend going on 10 years soon is someone I met in an online forum just like this one. We talked for 18 mos before meeting up for a weekend. A couple years ago I stayed with her for a week but we have otherwise not seen each other in person. I realize that that isn’t necessarily commonplace, but it does make me realize that just because I haven’t met someone physically doesn’t mean we can’t be close friends.6

But once in awhile you find true online friends that stick with you through the bad and the good. Year after year.. Makes all those other failed friendships worth the loss because you've gained something so much better. I used to feel bad for giving my genuine self to failed online friendships but not anymore. At the end of the night I know who I am and I am okay with the love I've given those friendships.10 -
@_sw33tp3a_11 I have a few of them and I know they're real. I have to admit, I am changed by that ordeal.2

I have many friends. Some of them I have never met face to face, and some I've only met once because they live a thousand miles away from me, and some I see often, and some I live with. But they're all my friends.2

What if what we think are aliens are actually just kids from the future doing the year 2400 version of a crank call3

Definitely. To both of these comments. I try to always put love out there and if it doesn’t come back from where I’ve given it to.....it’ll come back from somewhere, someday. I’m not perfect but I try to maintain kindness and compassion and i can’t control anyone else. So at least I know I remained true to who I TRY to be no matter the outcome. At least I can live with myself.
I always think about stuff like that too @Diatonic12 I don’t like making excuses for peoples shitt-y behavior but I get something must have gone wrong somewhere for people to be a certain way sometimes. And it’s sad that that’s what they’ve resorted to.
I recently hurt someone’s feelings. It wasn’t even a big deal but I felt so crappy about it. I couldn’t wait for the next day to talk to her to make sure she knew I didn’t mean it how it sounded in text form. I can’t imagine being the person who walks around hurting people and not caring. Or maybe they do care and act like they don’t.
Thanks for those words!❤️6 -
I'm a cartoon.

That’s awesome. And I agree that you can be close to someone you’ve never met. ❤️3 -
@Motorsheen No one else has your personality. No one.
@MelG7777 Maw. We constantly boss each other around. When I smart off, I cannot stand it that I've crossed the line. I kiss her sweet face. Not so much with 'Rona. I'm careful but I cut her a lot of slack. Friends can break your heart but everytime you find meaning through it, you win.
I'm sorry Maw. Then she asks me to spend the night and we watch Schitt's Creek. That's where I live.3 -
Dont have anything on my mind at the moment. It is nice to be able to just "be". Even if for an hour or so.4

@MelG7777 Did you read that new thread out there in the main living room? Another cautionary tale.0
