Debating the finer qualities of the dad bod thread and the mom bod thread and the suits thread and the dresses thread. I think I've identified the winner.

My dad.. he's been pretty good lately but last night he had a fall. Why, why was he wandering down in the muddy horse yards at 8.30pm? His answer... I don't remember why I went there. 😒
So he fell and figures he was there about 3 hours ( can't confirm) but Im sure it felt like a long time.
Banged up knee, hip and skin off his side.
These falls are becoming a real worry, I know I can't bubble wrap him but I'm worried its only a matter of time before he breaks a bone..
Thats what's on my mind.. 😔18 -

I feel this so hard. My dad recently fell in the bathroom, smashed his face on the floor and bled for about 45 minutes before he could get up. My mom is deaf, so she couldn't hear him calling for help, so he just lay there.
It's so scary knowing they are so helpless now, and also so hard to see our once strong parents failing.
Sending you big hugs and hopes that your dad is ok.6 -

I’m so sorry your dad fell. 😞
But glad to hear he didn’t break anything.
I am constantly worried that my 93yr old mom will fall.
If I call and can’t get her on one of her phones for about 15min, I’m in my car to find out what’s going on.
It’d sad to see parents lose their abilities,
breaks the heart. ❤️9 -

Aww, Jo,.. sorry to hear., these dad's of ours,.. i think they just want to not give up. My dad is the same😖 its almost embarrassing.
I love him ,but wish he'll except our care. Im saying, my dad, works still 4-5am till.. after 7 or 8pm or later. Or through the night,.. this is crazy stuff.
All i think, maybe hes trying to teach me something. But i rather him tell me than die doing it.

Yes I know the feeling when you can't reach them. wow 93.. mums doing well.
Dad is normally in bed by 8.30pm , its a mystery what was on his mind.
He has an alert necklace thing that he is supposed to wear that goes to an external monitoring company who call me, he's supposed to press when in difficulty... doesn't help when its on the bathroom counter 😒5 -

I have been managing a family so long that when I occasionally eat restaurant food, I often think “mine is better.” Not fancy food but normal household fare. The only reason to eat out is to avoid doing dishes.3

Oh noI'm so very sorry Jo.
It's so hard and heart breaking. Does he have help or someone to help care for him, keep watch on him? Does he have any kind of help alert or lifeline button to push?? That'd be a good thing for him to have IF he'll wear it and use it. (NVM I just saw where he does have one but doesn't always wear it
)
It's hard for you, as a daughter, to watch. And hard for him to realize he doesn't have the abilities he once had.I'm sorry. {{HUGS}} to you.
Another thought though, don't they have visual security systems available for these types of situations? I don't know anything about technology but a camera might be beneficial? Just a thought.0 -

Yikes, does he have a life alert type button? Course needing one and actually using it are 2 different things. But really, it sounds like a very good idea for him.Wanting to stay home and continue to live independently is hard for everyone but it's where most people are happiest.
But there are so many resources 'out there' to tap into that can make it happen. I hope he is or starts using them.
It's very scary for all, and heartbreaking. {{HUGS}} to you Kickass2 -

It's so much more than that, S. Raising my kids by myself was more important than spending hours away from them.
Besides, when they're in therapy they won't be blaming their short comings or anxiety issues on the baby sitter. It's all on me...and I own that 😂
😂 I’m hoping I can get mine to blame their grandmother same as me4 -

For the love of the angels, never before 7 am their local time.
But if they are like me and turn notis off, it doesn't matter anyway...if the concern is waking them up 🤷🏿♀️2 -

I need to find something like that. I want something for the bathroom in particular because he's fallen twice in there. Once I had to drive over to help pick him up off the floor.
He's so proud that he won't likely wear something, so I was hoping to put a comm device that could at least alert me. (I live 5min away).
He's ok now, but it has been happening more frequently. 😔
Hugs to all who struggle with this. ❤️1 -
