I just posted something (using my phone) and there was a preview button. I've never noticed that before. Is it just me being stupid...was it always there?

Pretty sure it's always there. Maybe there's a difference if you're using the mobile app or the web version.0 -

were you using the mobile site or the app itself? sometimes it differs by that as well as what type of phone you have is all
I'm using the mobile site.

mine doesn't usually have a preview unless i'm viewing the desktop version via the mobile site, vs the app. i always have to make sure i'm using the desktop version for the preview in my phones browser esp when i post a gif or jpeg too otherwise i'm paranoid i'm going to post the wrong thing.
