Hello ladies!
After snow blowing the driveway, my fitbit had a little party on my wrist! I think I'm going to like this little motivational tool.
DH has more tests scheduled for next week. Not expecting anything serious, more precautionary. He felt better today.
Joyce ... you and Charlie really need to put 2016 to rest! Praying that 2017 brings good health.
Allie ... thinking about you a lot. My niece just took her sons and left the guy she was living with for several years (he's dad to one of the boys) ... not easy at all.
Hoping to have an uneventful New Year's weekend here.

Have gotten all the things done I had planned on doing today. Called family doc and have an MRI of my low back scheduled for next Tuesday. Have got my presents in gift bags and the coordinating hanger in the bag so that I know what tag to put on it. I still have to put tissue wrap in. I got my CPAP fixed. We had to take it to the supply place. Guy hooked it up to computer and couldn't figure it out so he just issued me a new machine. I look forward to sleeping with it tonight. We got the humidifier set up, there is no visible mist coming out of it so I'm not sure if it is working right or night. The specialist also ordered this special oil nasal spray and we haven't found it yet. So our regular pharmacy is ordering it and will get it tomorrow. But as far as since I was discharged, I have failed with all of the things he said was so important. So I have really been using the saline nasal spray.
I went downstairs and checked out our recliners. Our biggest and best really makes my back feel much better so this weekend my kids will need to bring it up. This is the same one they brought up when Charlie came home from his ileostomy. We may need to switch out the love seat from up here in the living room to to the recliner downstairs. Since we don't have big family get togethers down there anymore it won't matter. Our cat won't like it though. The love seat is hers and Charlie's.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
CarolGA, sending love and (((((Hugs))))) to you and your family in this time of sadness. She is at peace now. Remember how much we all love you.
Margaret, thank you for the beautiful flowers. They always bring joy to my heart.
Katla, so glad you got to go riding after all this time.
Margaret, congrats on the beautiful new car. New cars are such fun.
Kate, beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Kay, great walking trail.
MicheleNC, so good to see you again. What a busy December and I guess Oct and Nov too. I’ve been so busy that I’m not here much lately.
Suebdue, great pictures. You look wonderful!!!
My friends, sorry I only got through a few pages and am still behind. Tomorrow is the Estate Sale so I have to get to bed early. I hope we get a good crowd. It’s been a lot of work. If there is a lot left, I may do it again next week but will take the week to rest. I have a Moose meeting Monday night. Oh yes, excitement!!! I had a committee meeting at the Moose today and while there put my quarter in the pot for the daily drawing. Tonight they drew my name and because I wasn’t there, I only get half of the $2000.00 pot. Not too shabby to win $1000, eh???? Yeah!!!!
to any Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you and I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
I Love you.

DJ- Congratulations on your big win! Good luck with the Estate sale!
Joyce - take really good care of yourself! I hope that the recliner works well for you. I'm sure your cat will get used to the new living situation.

Did about 45 minutes of a body pump DVD. I was having trouble with the DVD. For some reason the sound would cut out at the Y. But when I played the DVD at home, the sound didn't cut out. vince says that there's no reason why that should happen, but I don't know. Does anyone have any ideas? the plan for tomorrow is to do a DVD on the rebounder.
After exercising went to Bi-Lo. I had a raincheck for crab, B1G1, and it would have expired on the 30th. Now that I have room in my freezer, I bought it. Also found some cookies they had on sale for 38 cents, regularly $1.29 so I got them for the soup kitchen. Came home & got other items that I didn't want in the house any more, tomato soup, shrimp cocktail sauce, these ravioli, and took them and some of the cookies to the soup kitchen. I thought the ravioli were good (shrimp and garlic) but I admit that I'm spoiled by the pierogi that I make, these had too much dough.
lilybeth - welcome! I know what you mean, I felt so "yukky" over the holiday, can't wait to get back to "normal" (for me) eating. Normal is lots of veggies, little meat, lots of water, few if any cookies, candy, pastries. Now that the holidays are sort-of over, I'm so looking forward to feeling better.
Welcome to a great place everyone else new.
Vince is gone to get his Genesis inspected.
Invited Ken & Lynette to dinner Sat. I found this recipe for ribs that you make in a crockpot so I'll try that. I'm also going to make some biscuits. I figure we can have the ribs over rice. If the biscuits don't get eaten, I'll freeze them for another time for Vince. I'm also going to make lemonade cookies since one gal at mahjongg has asked for them. I figure we can have them for dessert. Maybe I'll put out some fruit for dessert too. But then again, I know that I'll probably be the only one who'll eat the fruit -- but that's OK.
Meg - sending virtual chicken soup your way. I'll need to go to Aldi tomorrow
Charleen - love the umbrella. where DID you get it?
Had Newcomer bowling. Note for future years: never bowl on the week between christmas and New Years. there were a lot of kids. We usually have at least 4 lanes, today we made do with 2. But they knew that we were bowling yet they had other people on two of the lanes. Well....we didn't need them. Plus, there were a lot of undisciplined kids, kids who would just run up to the line and throw the ball, regardless of the fact that someone was getting ready to bowl.
Lenora (and Heather) - Lenora is so right about where the water is coming from. We had a leak in the ceiling in our downstairs. It was right under where the washer was so we thought that was it. Called a plumber, that wasn't it. Finally, as he was leaving, he checked the outside faucet. That's where the water was coming from and as Lenora says, it took the path of least resistance which was the area of the ceiling. We now have a shut off valve for that faucet.
DJ - I'm still trying to get caught up. I'll get there.... Good luck at the sale. Wow! $1,000.00...you can come see me <hint, hint>

I love that little party on my wrist! And YES it is very motivational.
We went to the gym this morning and I got in a 45 min treadmill walk getting my steps to a little over 5000. We then took a day trip that had me sitting in the car for several hours and sitting at our destination for a bit too. As soon as we walked back in the door at home here a little after 6pm I started doing laps around the house to get my wrist to have a little party! I was not going to sit back down until that happened! Enjoying those wrist parties!

Barbie: Congrats on your ability to read facebook, your email, and MFP while riding your bike. I tend to read books while riding my stationary bike. It is in the garage and there is no TV in there. I like to listen to audio books while pedaling, too.
Joyce: It sounds like you're getting better organized to take care of yourself. I hope things improve quickly. You've had more than your share of health problems. (((hugs)))
Cheri: Keep on enjoying those wrist parties!
Today DH had his eyes measured in preparation for surgery to get his cataracts removed and artificial lenses put in their places. Some of devices used made him uncomfortable. He's tired now and has gone up to bed early. Surgery will be in January & they'll do one eye, let it heal and do the other a couple of weeks later. He isn't looking forward to surgery, but he is looking forward to better vision.

Hey y'all. Just a quick hello before bed. Busy day with the grandkids. I'm so ready for my DH to go back to work and my grandson to go back to school. I'm tired of Christmas break.

Joyce – When I got my ‘new’ C-pap machine and was not falling right to sleep I called and talked to the guy at the place I get mine, and he told me that it would automatically start off at #4 and the work its way up the # that it was set for. I told him it was NOT working for me. Spending 30 minutes wide awake and still not being able to feel the force of the air, like with my older one, was only making trying to fall asleep and get in the number of hours require nightly difficult. I needed something to change. He called the MD who did the last sleep study (lung MD) and he got an order so that it starts off at #9 … such a huge difference … I am asleep in less than 10 minutes.
DJ – I rarely ‘win’ anything; but, was so excited to win a door prize all 3 days at the 'Women’s Retreat’ that I attend every year! Last one was the ‘grand prize’ and was a beautiful silver cross with a heart where it crosses. I love it! Yes, $1000 for a 'quarter' – a great return on your investment, for sure!
Michele – Are you wearing something that you put the DVD in … on your body? A DVD or a CD??? That might be making it skip; and, it also might damage it if done for a long time. Was the DVD really clean when you put it in? I know that we had some issues with some of our CDs when we put them in the car, if we hit a pothole, it would skip, like a record player if you were to bump it. Was irritating, especially when we had cleaned them … figured that it must have had something ‘inside’ the DVD player. Did not do the same inside. I can’t imagine why the sound on a DVD would cut out. That’s strange. Can’t help ya on this one. Starting the first of 2017 … I am going to start working out with the DVDs I got from you. It is cold (for SWGA) tonight and got very windy this evening; supposed to be in the 30’s … way too cold for me to get outside. Takes too long to warm up.
I’m like you, I don’t like too much doughy type of stuff. I eat bread; but, never eat the bread sticks when I got to Olive Garden. They have more calories in one than the salad. I could eat my weight in their salad, however. "No onions, no black olive' extra tomatoes, and peppers." Usually take at least ½ of what I order home with me. Last time we went they brought us a ‘new’ salad right before we were about to stop eating our meal; so they put it into a couple of their ‘to go’ containers. Yeah!!!! When I go to town, about every other time, I will stop and get a to-go salad and bring it home for lunch.
Yep, one way to stop that is to be pulling the bowling ball back and have them run into it. Works every time. LOL! They rarely ‘listen’ to you; but, a big hard ball upside the head … well …!
I dragged my crockpot out and cooked supper in it. WOW! So tender. Let me know how the ribs are. We like to cook extra biscuits and then cut them in 2 and broil them.
Oldest granddaughter sick all week, going back home tomorrow about Noon; but, won’t start school for another week; but, puppy has appointment to be ‘fixed’ and she doesn’t want to have to bring her back with a ‘cone of shame’ around her neck. Bigger dogs are not very cool with the puppy. She’ll have to have it because she is a ‘licker’. I think she is ready to get back to the 'peace and quiet'. Her boyfriend is coming down on Tuesday, his mother's birthday; I will be surprised if she comes back with him because of the puppy.
LOL! It is so nice to be ‘so right’ about something, after I have been ‘so wrong’ about things I’ve posted here. Thanks!
Cheri – My youngest DGD got a Fitbit-like thing on Christmas and she was waving her arm and telling her mother … “Look Mama, I’ve got 300 steps in today!” That's not how it is supposed to work, honey! HAHAHA!!!
Katla – Maybe on a stationary bike; I might be able to read or be on the laptop or cellphone; but, when I get on the treadmill, I watch TV and not the clock. I also know, now, to step off it before cranking it up a little. I made one of those [famous commercial of] “Taylor Swift” moves once when I hit it (what I thought would be one number) and it jumped by 5. ZEEEOOOOOWWW!!! Boom!

Tonight I am going to bed on time so I can be more rested in the morning. I'm having a hard time staying awake at work but not because I'm tired but because the documents I am reviewing are boring! Since I'm not the lead on the case I'm working on I am pretty much reviewing docs for 8 hours a day. If it weren't for my fitbit going off every hour to remind me to get up I would probably be snoring away! We have 32 depositions spread out over the next 2 months so we'll be hopping here shortly.
I got rearended the other night while waiting for the light to change. no damage to the car or any of us. i will bet she was on her phone because there was no reason for her to have hit me other than not paying attention.
Joyce I am so relieved that you are doing so much better - I have been so concerned about you. Yay for Charlie stepping up to help you!
Katla thank goodness DH's eye problems are just cataracts. years ago my eye doctor told me that I had the very beginnings of cataracts but that it would be many years before I would ever need surgery.
Barbie I know you had a viral infection in your ear but I had just read about vertigo and how it happens as we age because some crystals in our ear move out of place (I never knew we had crystals in out ears) and the doctors can show you what to do to get them to go back in place. hope you get over the dizzy spells quickly we don't need you falling down and breaking anything again!
Lenora the Dollar Tree had the most adorable flaming pens with feet that are the holder for the pen. I thought of you when I saw them.
Beth, Becca, Michelle, Lois and anyone else who has come back after being gone for awhile -thanks for coming back. We've all become like family and when one of us is gone without prior notice - well I can't speak for everyone else but I know that I worry what has happened to you. At our ages the answer could be devastating. So anyone who feels a need to step away for awhile just let us know ahead of time and stop by with a wave once in awhile.
DJ This must be a very special friend that you are doing all of that work for. I'm sorry she had to move - I'm guessing you are missing her alot. (((((hugs))))))
Re - I know you'll be back after the New Year's celebrations are over and things get back to normal.
I wonder what happened to our belly dancer. I downloaded the belly dancing videos she talked about and am going to starting learning. My sister Jill was a belly dancer as a hobby however she did perform at a Greek restaurant close to her house right up until a couple of weeks before she passed away from pancreatic cancer at 52. I miss her a lot she was a shinning light wherever she went.
I know there were others I wanted to respond to tonight but it will have to wait until tomorrow because I really am going to bed on time tonight.

Morning, all...
Joyce - so glad you're taking steps for your own comfort. Always glad to see your posts!
Off to the VA doc once more this morning... and of course, it's decided to rain. Not worried about me, just the other goobers out there on the road who believe that braking on wet pavement is no problem. Putting together a list of the things I want to talk to her about makes me feel old and ill--but other than my crapped-out knees, they're mostly minor. I feel like that's a blessing all on its own.
Glad to be back with my stuff, after five days away. Lost three pounds while I was gone (all the fence work, one assumes) but we tend to discount those pounds we lose that are gain-backs, I think. Just trying to hang onto the loss through Dec. 31, start the new year fresh. Have got my sleeping patterns to the point where I'm sleeping six to seven hours a night every night, and it's starting to show in my energy levels.
Skip this para if you aren't interested in the whole homestead concept: We are beginning the new year with a different look at our budget process--we want to find out how much we spend on everything that we could possibly grow or raise on the homestead we're working toward. So, in other words, how much do we spend on meat? How much on veggies? How much on butter and cheese? We also want to find out what we're spending per meal. For instance, last night's meal was spaghetti--by far, the most expensive part was, of course, the meat. So $4 for 3/4 pound of hamburger, 25 cents for the pasta, $1 for a can of Hunt's spaghetti sauce (much cheaper by the ounce than regular tomato sauce), another 10 cents for the parmesan cheese. There was enough left for my husband's lunch today, so that's three meals for $5.35 cents, or $1.80 a meal. Out of that, the only thing we can't make ourselves are the spices for the sauce--but they go a LONG way, and the parmesan--making any kind of hard cheese involves a massive time investment. Don't get me wrong, there is a cost to veggies, and of course, to buying a calf or rabbits or turkeys to raise as a meat animals, as well, with feed, etc. There's also a cost for flour to make pasta. We won't have enough land to grow our own wheat...but may be able to find wheat berries to grind our own. Still a cost.
Anyway, that's just the thought process. If I knew how to do anything halfway, well, I wouldn't be me, now would I.
Off to jump in the shower for my 90-mile trip to the doc.
Love y'all,
Lisa in West Texas4 -
Morning all!
DH's daughter was meant to catch the 9.40 from our local station this morning, but, as they were leaving, I checked on line and there had been an incident further up the line. Poor DH had to drive her halfway to London to catch the train.
I got on with my exercising and he is still at it, having been out in the car for 90 mins.
Getting the annexe ready for our next set of guests, who are arriving tomorrow afternoon. Washing sheets etc. I have got that 4 course meal mostly prepared, apart from the raspberry ice cream which I will do this afternoon. It's all vegetarian, but I have got some mince lamb kebabs that are preprepared (delicious) for my DSIL and DH. Will pop out this afternoon for cheese, salad etc.
They are staying over for lunch on Sunday, so I will get to serve them the Pistachio Soup I made the other day! Hooray! Then I will serve Rosemary Focacchia with cold meats, cheese, salad etc. Easy. I hope to get everyone out for a nice long walk before lunch. They will leave soon after and then, IT'S ALL OVER! :drinker: Yeah!
My worry about New Year's Eve is that I will drink a bit too much. My DSIL and her boyfriend love a drop of champagne etc etc . Cross fingers I can pace myself sensibly. Today is alcohol free. I really do not enjoy the after effects of even a bit too much drink any more.
Glad, Joyce, that you are getting your life back in order. What is the long term plan for your rehabilitation? Sounds like you need physiotherapy and a whole body approach.
Love to all, Heather in the foggy UK
NSV for me - Last night I drove home from the pub (designated driver ) in the thick fog and black ice.
1 -
Heather brave and generous to be designated driver in those conditions. As for New Year's Eve, I just lighten my drink as I go along, first drink I enjoy completely, then I start adding seltzer to whatever I choose to drink
Lisa I am taking an uber frugal challenge for January, which includes no eating out and cutting back in my grocery shopping. I am tracking expenses, but not quite to the specific breakdown of meal costs-interesting. I may start figuring that out like you-eye opening--all savings go towards tuition payoff--the earlier the better!
Enjoying the company of my 21yo nephew, heading to the strand bookstore today in NYC a giant old fashioned bookstore, he really is an introvert!!
And enjoys my cooking- as a vegetarian he is devouring everything I have cooked so far, which is so enjoyable, my family always has some kind of complaint--where's the meat? Says DH
Have a great and safe holiday weekend! And let's get ready for all the new folks who wander in with renewed hopes and habits for 2017

Happy Friday to All!
Heather ~ What a busy lady you have been with all your company. The foods you have made sound delicious.
Michele ~ Do you put BBQ sauce on your ribs. I can't imagine eating them over rice. Homemade biscuits...Yummy!
Lisa ~ Your homesteading ideas sound like a LOT of work is happening in your future. Hate to say it, but, I prefer the convenience of spending money at the grocery. We spend way too much, but, it's about all we spend it on since we are very thrifty (cheap) about almost everything else.
Joyce ~ You have been one sick lady this past month. I know how much you look forward to your Christmas celebration with the family and I hope you will be able to enjoy it.
DJ ~ What a wonderful prize you won at the Moose Club. My parents used to go to dinner and dancing at the local Moose in Macon when I was growing up. It was probably about the only place in the area for doing so.
So sorry for my brother. His mother-in-law passed away the same day our mom was buried. There will be a graveside service on Saturday. I plan to go if it is not raining.

Good morning all! Happy Friday! Wow! Only a couple of days left of vacation. It has been a mix of days of doing nothing and days of trying to do everything. I spent a full day with my sister on Tuesday, she was in high spirits and laughing all day. She called me Wednesday and asked if I could come see her again. So I spent yesterday with her. What a total turn around. Yesterday she was angry, argumentative, moody. Whew! It was a mental work out for me! She only said maybe 10 things to me in the six hours I was with her. When I got up to leave and give her a hug, she turned her back to me and grunted out "bye". Unfortunately, this is how she is most days. I plan to spend tomorrow or Sunday with her. Not sure what I will get when I get there the or the ; but I DO know that I want to give her boyfriend Eric some time away from her. So I can put up with her crazy for a few hours so he can get some much needed alone time.
I got on the scale for the first time in a couple weeks, I am down 5 pounds! Halleluiah! It's a Christmas Miracle! I have been pushing the veggies and water and have been making a concerted effort to get out and walk every day. Even if it is just up and down the driveway behind the shovel.
Mary- tried to get into the Biggest Loser 40 pounds by May group; but it had already filled up. That's okay. I will still make a personal commitment with that as my goal. That is about a 2 pound a week loss. Definitely doable if I stick to my walking and eating plans.
Carol- Oh, hugs for your brother! And also for you! Please take care of yourself as you plan to be there for him.
Pip-Thank you for continuing to post your exercise progress. Keeps me on track and motivated to get my own daily exercise done!
Heather- The holidays/guests just keep rolling along for you! You need to stop telling us about your planned meals, otherwise you will have us all there for dinner at Chez Heather. It all sounds delish!
Lisa- I totally get the homesteading thought process. I have thought long and hard about growing my own veggies, raising chickens, etc. I think it will make more sense to do this when I am no longer working full time. Too much on my plate right now and starting a mini farm will add to that. But it IS something I think about a lot! Oddly enough, I found out, that my area has a zoning code that allows only three hens per family/property owner. No roosters. Weird.
Gloria- So glad no one was hurt in the car accident (incident). Seeing people driving while fiddling with their phone is a BIG pet peeve of mine. So unnecessary!
Well, I better sign off and get busy with my day. On today's agenda: Fill out my 2017 calendar with important dates to remember, plan the 2017 time off/vacation schedule, make out my Jan/Feb daycare calendar and newsletter, sign up for trainings for the year. I see a bit of blue sky out over the lake, so I will get my walking gear on, so that I can be ready to hop out the door and walk as soon as the sun comes out. Don't worry, if it is not out by noon, I will still get it done. But it is so much nicer to have the sun shine on your face! Have a great day all! xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)2 -
Looking to the year ahead. Do any of you make January resolutions that you actually keep all year? I made it until June last year. When I was forced into early retirement, everything went out the door. I hope this year to make my weight goal, another 40 pounds down, continue walking aiming for 10k steps 5 out of 7 days, and finances are unknown right now, but looking to a solution.

Mary- remind me again of how you record your squats and swings; Is it sets x reps x weight?0

Still battling the cold or whatever I caught on the plane. Had to get out yesterday to pay taxes and get some fresh veggies and fruit.
Katla - I had cataract surgery a couple of years ago and was amazed at the difference in my vision. Colors were so bright. We had painted our bedroom in a color I thought was sort of pink/brown but when I got my
eyes done it looked raspberry color. Still like it. The doc also did one eye then waited a couple months to do the other. I think that is wise but it was hard because I couldn't wear my glasses. The worst part of the surgery was the unknown but it was so easy and quick. Hope he doesn't worry too much.
Heather- your meals sound amazing. Take care of you and don't get too worn out.
I am so happy I didn't gain while we were gone but have a little puffyness from the flight. Looking forward to the New Year.

Morning peeps-
Thx KJLaMore ❤️1 -
Morning ladies! Well wishes for a good day to everyone!
Heading off to the Honda dealer as the hubs new car sent out a message regarding tire pressure and he wants them to check that and I think there was a recall also they need to check. I will follow him there and we will go to the gym while the car is serviced.
Otherwise I will continue with my list of things we are working on in this rental home. When we moved it became apparent that the cleaning crew they used did not do as meticulous job as I/we would want. I put off doing anything initially but since our home sold up north and hubs keeps saying we are renting for a while I just need to pretty up the place. Clean the windows, wash down the kitchen cabinets, and the baseboards/woodwork/doors are a wreck so those will be cleaned as well. Oh and the kitchen tile/grout. So many of the tiles are cracked and they are separating from the cement underneath. I'll do what I can.
We may ask the landlord if he would be willing to sell this house to us. We like the location and it would be a nice investment property for when/if we retire elsewhere. If that goes through then we would do a total update of appliances, flooring etc. Will have to wait and see if hubs moves in that direction.
Anyhoo...off I go! Have a good one ladies. I will read posts later as I see there have been a FEW (lol) since last nite.

Good morning. Just a quick hello. Be back later after I get some things done. Have a great day.1
-
Gloria – I will have to check that out next time I go to town. Thanks!
Lisa – Geez, I know about those crazy people about driving in the rain, seems to bring out the Dale Earnhardt in all of them, they drive faster, have no concept of braking distance and I hate looking up in my rearview mirror when I come to a stop, because ‘they might not make it’. No signals, packed car with more people than seatbelts, and probably don’t have any insurance either.
Talking about saving on meat; not sure this is something you can do; unless you can find someone who grows cattle for slaughter and you can buy directly from them on meat they process for themselves. You might be able to buy a ½ of a cow; cut up and packaged to go into a freezer; but you’d have to first have a freezer. DOGD shot a doe this past weekend, and was so happy that she was able to ‘put meat on the table’; but, they really need 3 (or 4) more to last them until next hunting season. I have not heard a shot, so I doubt they got one this AM. Looking for BOGO specials … that is something I look for; but, need to check expiration dates. Cooking with dry beans instead of canned one. Cook in batches, such as spaghetti and freeze leftovers, packaged up for 2 - 4 people.
Maybe check with your local 4-H club or school’s FFA/FHA – they usually raise calves and other animals that also end up in the slaughter house. Check with your local Conservation office to find out about farmer’s in the county/parish where you live. Check with smaller Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets or other stores, like some Dollar General stores and Kmart’s have a grocery section for some of the seasonings. Feeding a family, even just two healthy means more money spent to get to where you have the basics, then build on that. Local farmer’s markets and that sort of thing. Storage is the issue if you are living in your RV until you find a place that will be more permanent and you can have a shed for a freezer.
I guess I missed the story about the ‘annexes’. Is there space in there for a freezer and/or pantry?
Carol – Louis would eat rice 3x a day – if I made it. His mother would stretch scrambled eggs with the left-over rice from the meal the night before. Rice was a huge staple in their family. She could cook fluffy rice from bulk rice … not me … mine was ALWAYS sticky. But, I think she also rinsed it off before cooking and drained it good. I just tend to buy Uncle Ben’s Converted Rice and I have bought it in large bags and put it in containers and into refrigerator. Especially, when they put in on sale. She'd cook cream of wheat or grits; but the leftovers in a plate and into refrigerator; the next AM she would cut it up in squares and pan-fry them in just a little oil. I like the grits best when she added cheese to it.
Sorry for your brother losing his MnL on same day as losing your Mom; probably double hard on his wife … especially if she was close to your Mother. I know it would have been hard on me; but, I did lose them both within a year (although not the same year).
