You remember when there was no TV after 2 a.m. (Or was it 1?)

And it signed off with a video reading the poem "High Flight"

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
    And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Oh and complain about gasoline being $3.55 a gallon, starting stories with "when I was your age I paid .79 cents a gallon for gas...."

Try .49/gallon! Three bucks could have you cruisin' all night!

How about 60 cents for a pack of cigarettes and the machines were in my high school dorm, not that I smoked.

15 cents for a bus ride. (I think that's right.)

I remember watching Reagan reading that poem on TV. I think I heard only the "slipped the surly bonds of Earth" part and thought it came from Shakespeare. Years later, I jumped on Google and searched it.

Reagan wasn't my favorite president, but that was an excellent moment of communication.

I remember exactly where I was when I heard about the Challenger explosion.

I am only 27 but I realised that I am old when the radio station I've been listening to for years played a song that made me say out loud 'wtf is that *kitten*?' and I had to turn it off. It was some really, really, exceptionally stupid 'song' that just kept repeating 'bubble butt' over and over again. O_O The feck?

So yeah, I am old now.

HAHAHA..i started doing that at 24. We're the same age. Bring back Sugarcult , and Three days grace please.

No, the stupid song prize goes to "Spill the Wine." It used to play on the radio for hours. It made no sense, although it sounded vaguely apocalyptic. I think you had to be on drugs to understand it. I was a kid, and I've never done drugs, so it will remain a mystery to me.

There's a category of songs that I classify as "Head Shop" songs. I liked the incense and the cheap doo-dads from Asia and South Asia and even the grass paraphernalia, but i was too young to smoke m.j. and never did because it was illegal.

I can't remember because ours was delivered by the milkman in bottles. No one drank skim milk and the whole milk always had a layer of cream on top.

When you have to make regular visits to an 'ologist' that doesn't start with 'gynoc'.
    Urologist
    Cardiologist
    Nephrologist

    You get the point...

    Rhumatology
    Gastroenterology
    Internal Med

I'm 27 and I still have 2 of these doctor appointments REGULARLY. Ugh

Saturday morning tv consisted of Fat Albert, Shazam!, and some goofy apocalyptic show about a six wheeled armored vehicle roaming the land.

Tom Haden showing Popeye, Tom Slick, Super Chicken and George of the Jungle cartoons in between turning squiggles into drawrings.

You remember when many people had a booklet with the "Exercise Plans" of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Only 12 minutes!

Jack Lalanne was on TV, the only man you saw on TV with ballet slippers.

There was an early morning Hatha Yoga program -- Hatha was the only flavor of yoga -- and because you were a kid you could do a full lotus position.

You could also do cartwheels and headstands without fear.

When you used to arrange a 'meet up' with a friend or a date and you had to make sure you agreed an exact time and place cos once you'd left the house you had no way of contacting each other as no one had mobile phones, haha!!
