Bbbrrr! Woke up this morning and it was -10 degrees F. I don't normally get back in bed after I get up for the day but that warm spot I had just occupied was very tempting. Hungry cats are determined cats, so off to the kitchen I go.
Call me crazy (I know that's Janet's line) but I pulled the trigger and ordered a closet organization system for my front foyer closet. I had been waiting for the company to hold their January flash sale (they do every year) and checked their web site yesterday and there it was! I love being able to have a place for everything and it's all neat and tidy. The real kicker is I can find things when I go looking for them!
I've ordered from this company before and the materials are top notch. Any issues or damage while being shipped, they send a replacement piece the same day you call. The poor UPS guy (brown truck driver) will show up at the house with boxes that are 96" long and a bunch of shelving and basket components to deliver. My master bedroom walk in closet system filled a whole truck last time. It is easy to install and the instructions are customized to your design. I'll get lifting and weight exercises into my log real soon.
The scales this morning told me I am nudging the scales back in the right direction again. I am down a 1lb from the holiday high but still have to lose 1 lb to get back to my pre-holiday weight. I will practice my patience and keep with the food plan.
Charleen in Colorado (Good day to work on quilts)
Now, Charleen. You know I am going to want to see pictures of those closets. I love organization.

Happy Friday everyone!
Were on our way out of town today .. hopefully I can get some steps in?
@fanncy0626 Been thinking on the challenge. I will do the varied crunches and the push ups .. but I am not a fan of jumping jacks. I might replace them with squats? 3 sets of 10 for today.
@pipcd34 Your babies are sweet! We our lab!
I know I am missing alot a great goings on here! We had a great day... I only pulled off 13,516 steps/ 6.40 miles so far.
I will give the the 3x 10's another go tomorrow.
Way over on my cals.. no logging. Tomorrow is another day!1 -

Fantastic workout! Great plan with the squats. That's great mileage!

Hello Chilly Chicks!
It's snowing outside... and that is kind of a big deal round these parts... as Carol said - this is the south - we don't DO snow, here... lol. The roads are already a mess and the locals are in a panic. I decided to finish out the day at home – since I had to start in the office.
I didn't get jammie day, today *pouts* because I worked a half day on Tuesday from home while I was doing the fence work. Since they limit the number of hours we can work from home, I had to get up and go in, today. Fortunately, I have five spare hours of VPN time - so I can work the evening from home.... although it did take me an hour and a half to get home in the ridiculous traffic.
And can I get a drum roll please? *thrumpitythrumpitythrumpitythrump*
I got my tushie to the gym today - and weighed in... I guess all that hard labor in the yard paid off - because the scale showed something just under 217 - WHOOT!
Since I don't have two days of the 217 - I just put the 219 from my last weigh in down, for today - but when I weigh tomorrow, I will be able to change my ticker, again!
AND I took my measurements. I lost another inch off my waist and TWO off my belly/hip area. I am so doing the Snoopy Dance!
Quick bio for all the new folks:
I started the whole weight loss experience in childhood – my parents sent me to a fat camp! So, I have battled my weight since I was 12... but the meaningful part of my journey started when I was 40 and 367 pounds. I woke up one morning with the realization that I would most likely live into my eighties or beyond – based on genetics and family history – and if I felt this crappy at 40, what was it going to be like at 50, 60, 70? I was afraid... I was very afraid. So, I did some research and decided to get a Lap Band. I wasn’t willing to have any parts removed, but, I needed something that would make it easier for me to eat less.
The insurance company denied me. My BMI was over 60 – so they thought I should have the gastric by-pass – but, I fought them and won. (Shocking, right?) I got my lap band and proceeded to lose a bit over 100 pounds with Cardio exercise and a low-carb eating plan. I can’t recall the exact low weight at that time... I just know that I felt AWESOME – my knees stopped hurting, my ankles worked right, and I could fit into a lot more clothes at the fat-lady store. I was pretty pumped – but, I felt so good that the fear which had driven me initially was gone... and when life happened (lay-off, bad job replacement where I worked 14 hrs a day on salary) I just fell off the wagon. I started eating carbs – I stopped going to the gym – I stopped thinking about it and just ate whatever, whenever.
Now, before my lap-band, this would have meant a re-gain of every ounce I had lost and then some – but thankfully, the band was still there, and still doing what it does – which is slow me down, force me to chew my food, allow me to recognize when I am satisfied. So, although I did gain something like 15 pounds back – I didn’t gain any more. I now weighed 275ish – MUCH improved over the 367 and I proceeded to coast for the next ten years. In the last few years, my Hubby has had first a stroke, then a bone infection and finally an ankle break which required him to be in a wheelchair for a while. I was shocked to find out, when I had my annual physical in Feb 2016, that my weight had dropped to 260. And I decided that I should capitalize on that momentum and use the time when my Hubby was in physical therapy to do a little exercise, myself. I had had success with a food diary before, and went looking for an on-line version – found MFP and discovered that I wasn’t that far off my calorie goals... Then I found the forums and this lovely group of loving and supportive women. The rest is history... I am currently nearly 52 (another January baby). I weigh 217 (unofficially) today and still going strong.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Kay – You will be back to that low weight in no time! Rockin the veggies!
Mia – I still want to see pictures of all that fabulousness now that you are healed up! I aspire to have my whole body lifted at some point. Lovely to see you!
Barb/Edmonton – Hi! I have found MFP to be really useful – both the diaries and the communities – in staying motivated and staying on track. Hope to see you here, often!
Lenora – One of the things I DON’T miss about not having broadcast television – ads for “The Texas Hammer.” (another ambulance chaser.) They make those commercials so stupid – to appeal to the ignorant. It ought to be against the law for attorneys to take advantage of the ignorant.
DJ – Sending Love and Good thoughts back at ya!
Janet – Love the new profile pic
Pip – I had a black lab as a kid.... she was the best dog, ever. I love seeing pictures of your fur babies! Yogi is my favorite – but don’t let on! I wouldn’t want the others to feel badly. They are beautiful, too... I just have a soft spot for black labs.
Marni – LOL – OMG – if I could donate fat, I would be able to supply the whole of North America!
Barbie – I like your word for 2017. We can all use some Balance. I have my fingers crossed that Sasha won’t be too bummed out missing Brandy.
Linanne – Welcome! I commend you on battling with your daughter – but yes, you do need to keep yourself together, too. Exercise is a key component for me – so keep on sneaking to that gym!
Michele – I am with you on the wine and chocolate! Who drinks milk, anyway? LOL.
Toni – *waves*
Marylin – I have my hubby trained... he doesn’t cook very much – but when he does, he leaves all the cans and such on the counter until I get home and can enter the recipe into MFP. He is easily trained because he is loving the whole body change thing... especially since I make a point to show it off for him, these days. A little black lace makes a man ridiculously happy. Silly creatures. Oh well, I have to wear a bra – why not wear one that he likes?
Sharon – Technically, it WAS a compliment – he likes the food you cook from scratch, better... It’s the delivery that needs work. LOL
Allie – I am so glad you are not having a mass of anxiety. Can’t wait to see the bed.
Kate – Home is always good, though, right? Travelling is marvelous – but, I always love coming home. I also weigh myself every day. I just automatically step on the scale when I get to the gym. I am too curious not to. It about killed me to not make it there to weigh myself for a whole five days... I was getting a little panicky - thinking I might have gained. For me, the daily weigh in is just peace of mind. Cool to see the floats before and during... I have enjoyed your photos.
NYKaren – I am glad to be of service in the entertainment department! Size 8? I can only dream of such a thing... Maybe next year. Great work, Sugar! Oh, and I will be HAPPY to send you the snow, back! You can have it! It was pretty to look at for about five minutes...then I was done.
KJ – Green Tea is full of antioxidants – so supplementing water with Green Tea is a good thing. I drink a LOT of my liquid in the form of Tea. The water in Texas is kind of ICK. Not like the water in Oregon, which was delicious and refreshing. Half the year, here, it tastes like algae with a heady bouquet of boat fuel. If you don’t put SOMETHING in it, it is really not very pleasant to drink. So, Crystal Light is my friend – and I drink a lot of tea.
Mary - *waves* How is our Kettlebell Queen? I see you are still swinging!
Lisa – Hope you get your wish! And Gratz on the full night’s sleep! Always awesome.
Colsaylors – Colleen? Pull up a keyboard and tell us a little about yourself. Welcome!
Grace – Stay Warm, Sister! I, for one, am not planning on venturing any farther this weekend than the corner where my gym is. Thank heaven it’s literally around the corner – no danger in getting there and home. Great work on getting that room ready... I have been meaning to clean out my office/craft room for a while now... maybe I will take a hint from your resolve!
Richmondlady – snow shoveling is excellent exercise!
Charleen – 1 lb is totally doable. You got this (to steal Rori’s line.) Can’t wait to see the closet organized.
Rita – I know that one... I decided to accept a “holding pattern” thru the holidays.... there is no rush. If you need a break, you need a break. ((Hugs!))
Tara – All you have to do is show up and participate... welcome! One thing I have learned for myself... If I log, I lose... I am just more aware of what I am eating, and I make subconscious choices, I think, that help me when I am logging. I have had to slap myself a time or two – I had a momentary phase where I was eating things that I neglected to log – but, once I accepted the fact that some days I am just going to go over my calories, it all evened out. I love the Intermittent Fasting... it allows me to eat two really nice meals a day – vs three marginal meals – one of which I would have to force myself to eat, anyway. I am not a breakfast kind of gal – never have been.
Christy – Agro is one thing you won’t find too much of on this thread... we are all about respecting the opinions of others. We all have our own way of getting there, but we are all trying to lose, or maintain weight. Some folks eat “clean” and some folks eat whatever they want within CICO... some folks exercise as the mainstay of their plan, some folks diet. Whatever works for YOU is what we want to hear about. Gratitude is a good word! We will be here to cheer you on as you fight the good fight.
Belle – Hello! Even when you go over – log it... then you will understand what happened if you don’t lose – and you will know how far off you were. Besides – if you factor in some walking time – you probably were fine.
Katla – I remember when my DH and I were first together... I had a single bed... we slept in it together – and my cat would come and sleep on the bed with us – generally on my hip. It was a very cozy bed with the 500 pounds of Human and 12 pounds of Cat in it! When the cat got very old, we built him some steps, so he could get into the much larger king sized bed.
Cheri – my phone is too stupid to scan stuff. And I am too stupid to figure out how to do it with my tablet... lol. I just enter the data by hand on my trusty keyboard – assuming it’s not already in the massive database. I love that so much of what I eat is already in there.
Margaret -
CT – It’s never too late... Welcome! I am a fan of the elliptical, too. One day, and one pound at a time! I try not to think about the total number... at 5’4” I should probably weigh something like 125 – but, if I think about losing 90+ more pounds – it hurts my brain.... One pound, I just focus on the next 1. Good luck!
Karen/VA –
Carol – Stay warm! It’s just the same in the Dallas Metro Area – madness from the moment the first flake falls.
Betty – you do what you can... you can either plan for the panhandle – have some change at the ready before you go out, or ignore them and move on. Really, you are going to see the same guys over and over – at least we always did when we lived in Eugene and Portland – so, just figure you can’t give them money every day and move on. I would, occasionally, buy them food. Anybody who was REALLY down on their luck was glad to get it. I gave change less often.
Becca – I can’t claim nudism – but, I can keep up with you on the crazy! LOL – must be a west coast crazy gene. You are rocking the food choices! Powerful and Smart... yep – you are!
Glenda – Hello! Get those workouts – I know from recent experience that getting in some physical activity can do wonders, even when you aren’t really worrying about the whole food thing. And see notes above – I am also a daily weigh person. I don’t let it make me crazy if I see some water weight – and I keep on doing what I know I should do. And yep – just do it. When I am not re-building my backyard fence, I generally get up every day and go to the gym. It’s just part of my day. Like brushing your teeth or doing the laundry – it’s just something you do. No motivation required.
Yvonne – Hello! Great job on planning for the donation! I do a lot of “pre-logging” when I know what I am going to be doing, it’s easier to stay on track – and you don’t have to worry about what you can or should eat – it’s already on the food diary.
SueBDew – Stay warm! And in general – stay home... it’s just safer.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Well, Ladies, I am doubly glad I have some lentils and ham in the crockpot – it’s just so blankety-blank cold, right now... I know they will be the perfect dinner.
I will see you all, tomorrow – when I MAY be able to log a new “I haven’t weighed this little since college” record. Onderland is closer than I thought... Whoot!
Hugs for Everybody!

Lenora, my Mom was AB- and she was left handed. My brother, sister and I are all left handed and AB-. But we all have medical problems that prohibits us from donating. After I got my blood in the hospital I laid there and thought about the person who gave that blood for me. I know I deeply appreciated it and it sure made me feel better. My son in law routinely donates plasma which is also needed very much. And you get money for plasma where you don't in donating whole blood.
Well I have driven twice now! First was Wednesday night to choir practice and today I drove to get my hair cut. I had an appointment early in December when I had pneumonia and had to miss it. So I am way past my due date. I get it cut every 6 weeks, almost on the dot. My husband doesn't like it but I do, it is so much easier to take care of. I do admit that at that 6 weeks time it is at a length I like the best but the next week it is to long. I made sure I used my TENS unit right before I left so my spine was pretty mobile in driving and then asked Tina to estimate the 30 minute time when I would be leaving so I could turn it on again. I am glad all our snow was gone so the interstate was clean. I must admit I did drive slower. I also was able to walk from the car back to the pharmacy at Sams to pick up refills. So the back is getting better. Oh, the big thing was that when I got home from getting hair cut, I was able to stand up and rewet my hair, put mousse in and blow dry it. So for the first time in about 3 weeks, my hair is fixed!
I have been looking on Amazon for the gel pads that go with the TENS unit. They cost about $15 for two sets at Walmart. A set lasts me 3 days. I can get an off brand at Amazon 5 sets for about $20. I am glad the TENS gives me relief. My doctor's office called this morning and he suggested neurosurgeon or pain clinic. I suggested physical therapy first and they didn't call back. So now I have to wait until Monday. I don't know if I should go ahead and see a surgeon and if surgery is suggested see if the cardiologist would agree to a different kind of blood thinner for th surgery. I doubt she would do it. I guess I could ask her before I get a surgery consult.
Thanks for being my ears tonight. Joyce, Indiana where it is 12 degrees outside.

Hi Gals,
Rori – its on my calendar!
Allie – I can “hear” the commitment and peace in your voice as you tell us what is next – you are woman hear you roar!
Betty – Yeah!
I had “Christmas” with my god -daughter today, we had some serious talking to do regarding communication (her lack) and I was able to come up with examples so she could understand my frustration and concern. She seemed to really get it! I was pleased. We went out to lunch and while I did not do very well on choices, the change for me is that even though it is now dinner time, and I did feed the dog , I am not hungry and no longer feel that I should have a full dinner just because the clock says it’s time, so I may have nothing – or just a piece of fruit. I am sure that learning this is part of why I have kept the weight off so far, and not making better choices at lunch is why I am stable- not losing.
Tomorrow and Sunday are to be a very wet and cold storm, so I have tucked in – wood by the door and plenty of food stuff, it should be fine. Of course in CA cold is 30-40 and wet is 2-3 inches of rain, not much compared to some of you, but clothing and home insulation is not the same here as it is in some the colder climates…I don’t own any boots of any kind! In fact my “warm” shoes are leather tennis shoes (trainers for the UK-ers)

Re- Congratulations on your loss of weight and inches! Keep up what you have been doing it's working!
Mary from Minnesota2 -
Did 1 hr of Bob Harper's Inside Out Cardio Conditioning DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Michele Olson's Perfect Legs, Glutes and Abs DVD
Marilyn - I keep a spreadsheet of my weight. Unfortunately, when I make a graph, lately it's been one flat line (just about flat). I only weigh myself weekly and update that spreadheet every few months.
Lenora - I have this thing that goes around your waist that you put in the microwave and it warms up. I used that yesterday and was putting it on my body. Now today I'm not freezing. Maybe I just needed to get used to the cold.
Marilyn - I, too, have been known to search the garbage for the box/bag of what I had. One downside to the database I've found here is that there are different calorie counts for the same thing, probably different in different countries. So I have to look for the one that is mine.
Sharon - one of Jess' friends has to do his dialysis at home. The nice thing is that he can travel and just take his dialysis unit with him.
Exercised, then went to the soup kitchen to give them some things from the holidays that I really didn't want in the house. Things like soda (that I know I won't drink) crackers. Then went to the post office. Then to the library where we have our Board meetings. Every year I make a treat tray for them. Actually, it was one way to get rid of the cookies/candy that Vince won't eat and I really didn't need in the house. Then went to play mahjongg. On the way home stopped at WalMart since Vince needed milk. I couldn't get over how crowded the parking lot was. You would have thought it was right before Christmas. I saw one lady in the store with two shopping carts. But I honestly didn't see people buying a lot of milk, bread and eggs. I did see people buying things like toilet paper. Heaven forbid we get "snowed in" (OK, you people up north can stop laughing now) and someone doesn't have any tp. Then came home and helped Vince bring some more of the decorations inside. Couldn't do much, we just don't have the room until the inflatables dry out and we can put them away to make room in the garage. Many of the inflatables are dry now so they are unplugged. At least we're saving on the energy! Made some of the garlic bread for Vince. I like to keep some in the freezer so I can just take a piece out when I need it
Mary - thanks so much for the recipe. As soon as Vince finishes the cookies he's eating, I may make that. I do want him to finish up the cookies first, tho. They're from the holidays. If he has too many choices for his dessert, it seems to take forever for him to finish something. Thanks so much
Katie - congrats on the loss
Welcome everyone new!
tara - good luck on that c25k
Christy - you've found what you're looking for here, that's for sure. So sorrry to hear about your cancer
Kate - you can't post a video directly to MFP. You have to upload it to uTube and then I think you can post it here. I'm not crazy about putting a video on uTube. You never know who is looking at it. So I put all of my videos on Facebook. At least I know the people who are viewing it.
Carol - I understand the NC is under a state of emergency! (you people from Canada and up north -- you can stop laughing) People around here totally freeze up at the mere mention of the word "snow". I personally find it hilarious.
Betty - I get asked for money from panhandlers (but I'm not out walking, maybe in the parking lot of the store I'm about to enter). I just never give it to them, mainly because I'm not comfortable opening my purse in front of them to give them the money. You just never know
Becca - that scanning feature IS so nice. Maybe that's why there are so many multiple entries of certain foods in the database? Great meals there. Every time I go to the soup kitchen to take something there, I'm always amazed at how much food is there for people to take home. One lady took two bags full home with her today. You are such a kindhearted person
Yvonne - how wonderful that you donated blood!
Re - woo hoo on that loss
A friend of mine has a herneated disk and severe arthritis in L3-5. She's in a lot of pain, her hubby says some days she just screams in agony. Does anyone know of something that will help her, will the TENS I wonder? Joyce - what has your experience been?

Well, we are braced for a big snowstorm/blizzard overnight and tomorrow. 10 to 12 inches of snow expected and below freezing temps for the next few days. I’m near Norfolk/Virginia Beach and that much snow is a huge deal for us. Typically we might get a couple of inches of snow a couple of times a year or maybe no snow at all for a year or two. So we don’t have the resources to manage snow. The few snow plows will focus on the interstates and some of the main roads. No one has chains, snow tires, or snow blowers. A lot of people don’t even have snow shovels. There is no one to hire to clear residential roads or parking lots. Most people have no idea how to drive on snow or ice. In this area, our response to snow is rush to the store and buy food before the storm, shut down schools, business, and most government functions, and wait for the snow to melt. I’m a teacher and I’m expecting we won’t have school Monday or Tuesday. Maybe not Wednesday either. I will enjoy the snow with my grandkids who live in my neighborhood. And I will get great exercise because I like shoveling snow and there will be plenty of snow to shovel. So unless we lose power, all will be good.
Thanks to several of you for the birthday wishes! I lost track of who sent them!
Marnie in Alaska- your pictures are breathtaking and your dogs are adorable! Your parrot is beautiful and looks like such a sweetheart. Do you eat sunflower seed butter? I like it for a change.
Heather UK- that spinach and feta pie sounds delicious. Thanks for pointing us to the website for the recipe. Thanks for sharing the fb post. Made me think about the people I surround myself with. Then started thinking about whether I lift them up or drag them down. Thanks for sharing your biog. You have done an amazing job and it is very encouraging. I hope your house sells so you can move near your grandchildren. My grandsons live one street over and frequently drop in or sleep over.
Swatkins49- Welcome. I’m new too. I’ve also had weight issues all my life. I was born fat weighing more than 9 lbs. You have a big goal, At my heaviest, I needed to lose about that much. I have been setting smaller goals so that I can feel satisfied meeting a goal and then setting another one. I’ve lost 26 lbs in a little more than 6 months. I do feel better. It is great that you are exercising and have found a trainer that understands your needs. I have a hard time getting motivated to exercise after a long day at work.
Sherry in Connecticut Welcome from another newbie to this group.
Carol in GA- funny story about your pods. I had eaten them shelled in a restaurant and when I bought them I didn’t expect them to be in a pod. Lucky for me, the directions said not to eat the pods.
Charleen in Colorado- Happy belated birthday from another January birthday sister. We are expecting snow but so glad the temps won’t be nearly as low as yours. Brrr! What great news about your quilt! I tried to message you, but there was some technical problem. I do some quilting, but have never entered a quilt. While snowed in for the next few days, quilting is in the plan. I wish I could go to see your quilt and send you a picture. I’d love to see a picture of your quilt!
Lenora- how sad about the damage and the difficulties the storms caused. The rain sounds awful and driving down your road sounds like a real challenge. Hope it dries out soon and your son feels better.
Lisa in West Texas- thanks for sharing about the GBS. It is a huge life change and it is helpful to understand it is much more than just eating less after the surgery.
Nan in Chesterfield- Hi, I’m new in this group too. I have been using MFP for a while to track my food but haven’t ventured much into the community. I’m also in need of support. You are doing a great job on your exercising. Keep up the good work! Tracking your food will help you meet your goal. I’ve done a good job tracking but have been terrible about exercising! Congratulations on your retirement!
KJ Kelly- loved the story about naked sock boy. Kids are so funny. At school dismissal today a fellow teacher gifted me with a pair of boots and a 5 year old girl in stocking feet. She had tied her boots together and the busses were loading. We frantically tried to get those boots untied so she could go home. It was freezing outside !
Christy in Melbourne- Sorry to hear about your breast cancer and upcoming chemo. You sound like a strong, determined woman with a great attitude. I’m sure those qualities will help you during the difficult time ahead of you. I hope we will also be a source of strength and support for you.
Well, our winter storm has begun with freezing rain and sleet. The steps are covered with a layer of ice. Guess I’ll throw some sand on them and go choose a quilting project to work on tomorrow.

Warm regards from Alaska MFP ladies .. I see that many of you are in for some unusual winter weather - stay safe out there! Don't drive if you don't have to - hunker down and stay home .. treat yourself to some movies, exercise, a long soaky bath, cuddle with your significant other or your fur-kids
DH made a terrific dinner tonight - cast iron grilled very lean pork steaks (all visible fat removed, and marinated in herbs and garlic for 2 days - half a baked potato with ff sourcream and diced red onion on top - half a sweet potato with cinnamon - green beans. So good! We are both benefiting from eating better - although he still eats desserts.
Didn't get my exercise in today due to still feeling peely-wally. Unfortunately gastric distress kicked in and I wound up spending a good portion of the day in the smallest room. Thank goodness for poo-pourri!!!

Planning my menu for next week and have my veggie grocery shopping list plugged into my iPhone. I ordered various tea's from Amazon - fell in love with Tiesta Tea over the holiday after picking up a bag of Immunity - Maui Mango at Costco. Its a lose tea. I enjoy drinking tea always but its very comforting when I'm dieting - it keeps me full/satiated .. tastes great hot or over ice .. and the Tiesta tea needs no sweetening. I don't use artificial sweeteners .. I don't think they are good for people, or we type2 diabetics. I've got a variety of Stevia's by sweetleaf to choose from if I need them. The shopping here in Alaska is much better than it used to be, but it can still really suck. DH broke my brown betty teapot and I'm searching for a new one online .. sooo many to choose from, but as I am a clutz the stainless steel ones are looking like a good option. I like "Shiny" things
Really loving all of the wonderful doggie photo's!!! You have beautiful pets
Wishing better health and swift healing to those of you who are hurting, in treatment, physically disabled, and suffering from mental illness.

Marni in Alaska- your pictures are breathtaking and your dogs are adorable! Your parrot is beautiful and looks like such a sweetheart. Do you eat sunflower seed butter? I like it for a change.
Thanks so much :-) He's a very cuddly parrot - even though he started swearing a few weeks ago LOL I've never tried sunflower seed butter - I'll check out our Hippie market and see if I can track some down - thanks for the suggestion.3 -

Good evening, ladies. I have finally caught up with you.
Allie - You seem more at peace. God's hands seem like a very good place to put things. I will pray for the best outcome for you.
Katla - I'm going to give it my best shot to check in regularly. It is part of my goals - staying more connected.
Re - Congratulations on your success. I think inches are just as important as pounds to lose. Lentils and ham sound most appealing on this very cold day.
Pip - The "birthday" photos make my heart melt.
Kim - That is a precious pic of you and Levi.
Becca - I was so excited when I first started using the scanning feature. It does help with accuracy.
Christy - Stay Strong. I will be putting you in my prayers.
It was very hard to be at work today. I wasted more time today than I do in a month. Why should I care? and yet I do. Disheartening to discover that my boss is being less than truthful but it is not the first time.
I slept on and off most of the afternoon. This was not my plan.
I am not sure if I mentioned that my ex called on Christmas day. Right in the middle of us opening presents. What do you do when someone calls from Portugal? you take the call. He says that he wants to buy Jason and Harmony (DS and DGD) a house. It's so weird that after all this time he actually wants to do something for his oldest son. I missed my chance when he asked if I needed anything. I should have said "Sure, all the child support you didn't pay". It seems I'm not smart enough for that I reply "No, we are just fine"
I am conflicted over the whole house thing as "SHE" is still in the picture and I don't want the effort going to waste. Looks like there will be conversations and trips to lawyers. Now I am waiting to talk to my ex BIL, he won't be back from Guyana for more than a month.
I didn't burn supper tonight. Made Simple Patty tonight. It probably isn't the healthiest but it seemed perfect for this weather. Comfort food. I do need to get back on track and not comfort myself so much. DH enjoyed and only referred to last night's fiasco once.
hoping tomorrow is a far better day (warm would also be good)
I think it has stopped snowing for a while.

Yesterday's view. You can see Nelson's Column, the London Eye, Big Ben and the National Gallery in the foreground.

Yesterday had a wonderful start with a walk across the Thames and our lunch above the roofs of London. I had two starters - Steak Tartare and Lamb Sweetbreads. No carbs. Those are both two of my favourite dining out things.
We had a tiny glass of red wine each.
Before that we had a quick look round the Tudor section of the National Portrait Gallery. Marvellous and it meant a lot more to me now that I've seen so many tv programmes set in those days.
We enjoyed the Beyond Caravaggio exhibition, but it was clear why he was the stand out painter in the show! He painted the most amazing characters and put them in biblical scenes. A one off!
Then we made our way to the Coach and Horses in the rain. DSIL and her boyfriend were already there and I tried to explain why the pub was famous as a drinking den for the old Soho crowd - Francis Bacon, Jeffrey Barnard etc. It is largely unchanged, which is why I like it, with lots of cartoons on the walls. Peter O'Toole played Jeffrey Barnard in a long running theatre play.
They much enjoyed the Israeli café I took them to. It also is unchanged since 1965! It's called Gaby's and is a shrine to theatre land, where it is situated on the Charing Cross Road. I had hummus and falafel with a mountain of their delicious chilli sauce. Wonderful, but not slimming. DH had the salt beef sandwich. Then we said our goodbyes and headed back over the bridge to catch the train home. Quite a bit of walking, so my calorie burn was fine, but my alcohol consumption was well over and the hummus was huge. I confess I had some of the complimentary cake they put on the table, which is sooooooo unlike me.
Today I woke up not happy with myself and feeling guilty. DH dragged me into the exercise room and I now feel better. Yesterday has gone and today is a new, non alcoholic day. Last week we did 5 alcohol free days in a run.
Re - I am so impressed with your progress! :flowerforyou:
Charleen - I took a screenshot of that quilt and still have it. Well done!
Love to all. I really just wanted a duvet day today, so I have had an NSV in one sense. The exercise got done - not brilliantly, but it was done, even if I had my eyes shut some of the time.
Lamb and Spinach curry tonight.

Morning, all... thanks for all the great pics, guys... there is seldom scenery worth photographing in wintry West Texas, and we are petless at the moment. I miss having a dog, but it's not the right place or time for one.
We got snow on the day after Christmas last year, but this year has been just dry and frigid. It's 15 degrees this morning (about -10 C), which is just wrong. The air conditioner here in the warehouse keeps cycling on and off, not sure why, and the DH won't be up to check it for probably four hours or so. At this point, since it's only 50 degrees in here, anyway, air conditioning would probably warm up the place.
Just a quiet weekend planned here, will do laundry Sunday morning... reading, working on the t-shirt quilt I'm making to order, and chilling out (a little too literally!). Hope it's a lovely weekend for all,

cozy thoughts to all of those stuck indoors due to that white freezing stuff that is falling from the sky... it's gonna be ok as long as you tuck yourself in your blankets, drink hot tea and/or clean out your cupboards/closets for everyday you are stuck indoors
Delicious dinner last night tofu and veggies in teriyaki--DD made it-its a keeper and will become a recipe I will put in my rotation
Kim love your pic with Levi
Joyce I am so glad you've been feeling better to get out and get hair done, fingers crossed you hear about next steps to take soon
Barbie are you back yet? I know it was tough leaving.
Beth only one week remains for DD at home, hope you've had a great visit with DYS and is looking forward to second semester of school--how fast is that
Tip for the day, cleaning out the fridge before shopping and making a grocery list actually helps me buy less food/better food for the week. Duh!!

Kim ~ Love the pic of you and Levi under the tree. You look a lot thinner there than in your avatar pic. Very pretty.
Pup Pics are always appreciated. Pip ~ Your dog children are so lovely. Levi ~ looks like he is snuggling up to his blankie.
Snow ~ It didn't even coat the grass. But, there must be ice underneath. The Pom wouldn't even go out on the screened in porch because there was snow on the floor - don't know how it got in.

Kim - Forgot to say how great you are looking! Are you feeling it?

Mary I like the idea of squats over jumping jacks too. I have yet to do the fitness test because of my knee. I had my first pain free night of sleep in a month last night.
Now I have to watch the next few days that I do not over do and have a relapse.
