Lenora: Darth Vader is a good description if he came in pink
Sharon: You'll have to keep us updated on the year with no sugar activities. You can do it!
Sarah-Ontario: I find that routine helps with the sleep I get.
Congrats to all of those with the scale moving in the correct direction!
Thinking of all. Wishing you a wonderful successful day.

I'm glad to find this group. I am 64 and want to lose about 60 pounds initially. I have been retired for five years, have become very sedentary, and love both to cook and to eat. I am trying to find creative ways to maintain my food pleasure and still lose weight. This is my third try over the last ten years. Hopefully this will be the one that sticks. It helps being able to read about the experiences of others.3

Just a quick check in ladies. Yesterday in the Magick Kingdom I logged over 18,000 steps! Today's my birthday! Heading to Animal Kingdom. Love this time with my daughter.

Happy Birthday Cheri!
Animal Kingdom was our favorite part of Disney when we went. We even stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and seeing a giraffe lay their head on the rail and staring at you through the sliding glass door on the 2nd story was surprising. Enjoy you time together, it is magical.

Happy Birthday, Cheri. What a terrific way to spend your day.

Allie - DO NOT BE MANIPULATED BY TOM! I've stayed out of the discussion but please please don't try to do this yourself just to save a buck on a lawyer. If Tom won't go through mediation with a third party that is chosen by you (you choose them, not him!!!!) then get a lawyer and follow his advice. Tom will do anything he can to make you think you don't deserve what you are legally entitled to. This is not about wants or "being fair" it is about what you are legally entitled to. Stand up for yourself girl. If you can take what he's dished out so far you can handle anything to come. You are a lot stronger than you think you are.
Raining today so my exercise will be indoors. I'm not up for rain after the downpour during the race on Sunday, it chilled me to the bone. Next half-marathon in two weeks. This one will be super slow since I'm walking with a friend who has never done one and does a 20 min/mile pace. We are going to be sauntering. Hopefully I will work back up to speed and be able to do my regular time by this fall and race again.

Agree Marcelyn. I agree with those who say at this point only speak to him through a third party i.e. a lawyer. They will help you get what you are legally entitled to.1

Penny: Several years ago a cougar was sighted in town and was eventually captured and released in a wilderness area. We've also had problems with coyotes in our town in the past. That was a public problem that affected several neighborhoods. The battle we are currently waging against raccoons that want to live under our house is very personal. They aren't under the house anymore but they are under our deck. When the county offices reopen I'm going to contact animal control to see if we can get them trapped and relocated. :grumble: Polar bears are a much greater danger than anything we've experienced. Stay watchful and safe. :flowerforyou:
Pitegny: Welcome to a great group of supportive women. My best advice for success is to log every bite and swallow and measure the portion sizes of your food. Food scales are available at a modest price and are a terrific help. I was one of those people who always made healthy food choices, but I ate way too much healthy food. :ohwell:
Cheri: Happy Birthday!!!!!
Charleen: I love giraffes. Years ago the Portland Zoo had a Giraffe named Puzzle. She was very sweet and social. While I was there with a group of kids, she reached her head over the fence and licked my eye. It felt like a big cat's tongue. It is a good memory. :flowerforyou:
Pip: I love the dog pics. (((HUGS)))
It is time to take my dog to the groomer. I'm a bit late.

Just checking in. I am down 4 lbs and feeling pretty on top of things! I am getting by on 1200 calories, but I admit that most days I eat exercise calories back... Well I'm only on 1200 as a kickstart, I can't maintain that long term.
Reading about all the snow... my husband and I moved to Nigeria as missionaries 10 years ago so we only see snow every 4 years.
One of my motivators to get in better shape is chronic pain. Right now I feel the best I have in years! It's not about a beach body for me. Although that would be a bonus. Haha!!
Blessings to all!

cheri Happy Birthday, January baby! I just know you're gonna keep getting those steps in, I'll bet you maintain weight eventhough the food is excellent at Disney.
I've logged my self working extra hard at the gym today so I have no excuses I think it's kind of like some of you who log their food ahead of time, that way you have to live up to what you logged, I think this will work.

Hi girls!
Just checking in with you.
The journey to the airport was easy, with the sun shining the whole way. Past the places where I lived as a teenager.
Found the Long Stay parking ok and the bus turned up immediately.
Feeling a lot less stressed now that we are here. We're in a lovely hotel with a view of the runway. Very quiet. We have booked into their Brasserie restaurant, so we will enjoy a relaxed "date" meal. With wine. Not too much as I don't want to feel off tomorrow.
It was a bit of a hassle having to leave the house fit for viewing, but we managed. We have another viewing on Friday.
The best thing about this airport is that we have already checked in and dropped off our bags for tomorrow morning's flight. We won't have to leave the hotel early, but will be able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before security. My back already feels a lot better.
KJ - I think my back is like other people's migraines or irritable bowel. It starts to seize up when I'm stressed. One holiday in Madrid I was crippled with it, but it usually goes away once I'm off. I did take Ibuprofen.
This morning I managed 300 calories of machines (not rowing, as I didn't want to aggravate my back) and a bit of yoga stretching. Lugging suitcases around burns up calories, right?
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxx3 -
Went to Patriot's Day last night. Not for the faint of heart. I cried through a good portion of it. I'm glad I saw it, but probably will not see it a second time. On the other hand, Hidden Figures also made me cry but I could see it a dozen times and still want to see it again.
Heataher Have a great time! Glad you are on your way, now you can relax and enjoy the trip!
Sharon Going through boxes of stuff to shred has also opened old wounds for me. There is something about shredding and recycling that old stuff that helps bring me closure, though, I find it difficult but cathartic. I hope the same is true for you...
Pip That fracture was a doozy! Looks like your surgeon did a great job!
Cheri Happy Birthday in the Magic Kingdom! How fantastic!
Katie Congrats!
Penny and Katla Can't wait to see where the bouncing of the dime will take us next, LOL!!!
Penny Exciting photos of the bear tracks. Oh Golly! what a place you live in! On a more mundane note, we share a love of rutabaga and parsnips. Adore both of them. Yum!
Allie I second what NYKAREN said about Lisa's post. Also KJ's advice about flipping the fear. Go forward with a fierce heart, woman!
Thanks for all the sweet compliments about my granddaughter. She is such a force of nature. It's fun watching her evolve. Ditto for her older brother, who couldn't be more different from her, except in appearance.

Heather so sorry for your husband's loss of someone he admired. Yay I will be on another armchair vacation - have a great time!!
Need to get to bed but I promise more tomorrow. Thanks to all for acknowledging my NSV - Love to all

Hi to all: Warmer today but rainy. The paddock will be really muddy again. It was kind of nice having the mud frozen. We are going to get our new phones this afternoon. We are going on a big family plan with my DS and DD, DH, myself and DGD. DGD is getting the same phone I am and has promised to teach me how to use it. That should be interesting. Went to the dentist this morning for checkup and cleaning and everything was good. Glad that is done and it cuts down on my eating for the rest of the day.
Cheri - Happy birthday and I know you are enjoying Disney!
Marcelyn - congrats on getting that 1/2 marathon done.
Katiebug - Yeah for you!
Penny - We have been warned there is a black bear in our area. Have not seen it, thank goodness.
Heather - Glad you are more relaxed now, enjoy your vacation.
Gloria - Those drones! They just can get away from you so easily, LOL.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA1 -
Have a safe and FUN trip Heather.
Cheri, I thought you were going with your husband as an anniversary trip. But you mentioned a daughter.
We had a 3rd company come out today and give us an estimate on new guttering around the entire house and a better gutter guard. We don't want the expensive kind that will break the back but some kind of protection that is far better than what was put on when we had our roof put on. Then we need to get an estimate on painting, windows and landscaping. I wanted to get this all done in 215 when we had our bushes and tree removed but then Charlie got his meningitis and our world changed. Then last year it seems like either one of us couldn't stay out of the hospital. So here it is 2017 and I am ready to get these things done. I want to get estimates now so we can get one contractors spring list. I know painting should be done before gutter but we want the gutter up before all the whirly gigs come off of our and every one elses maple trees fly around. But to get the painting done we have to buy a new front door, garage door and back garage door. Money, money flying out of our checking account.

Hey y'all -
I'm starting to catch up after spending the weekend away. Got a late start reading the forum, though.
Penny - Visiting bears sound a little scary! Although we did photograph mountain lion tracks right outside our house when we lived in New Mexico. Kind of neat, but best not to meet those "neighbors" face to face!
Joyce - Congratulations on getting your exercises in! I am also guilty of using the TV to keep me going. Without TV or a book in hand I tend to get bored and whiny during my exercise.
Barbie - Hope you find the right dog soon. I can't wait to see photos!
Allie - I want to echo what others have said. Find a good lawyer and let him or her represent you - take it from someone who DIDN'T follow this advice! When it comes to divorce, our exes will do things we never expected. It's better to have someone who can watch out for your interests and go to bat for you. It'll take some stress off of you and you'll likely end up better off in the long run. You can get through this.
I upped the resistance just a tiny bit on the exercise bike yesterday, and it make for a much harder workout. Probably just what I need to build up real-life endurance. It's been rainy here, so exercise has been confined to what I can do indoors.
There goes the beeper, calling me to the kitchen. Tonight is gumbo night and I'm cheating a bit by making the roux in the oven. Still have to get up and stir it every 20 minutes, but at least I don't have to stand at the stove until it's done.

I have been keeping up with my very modest goal to simply login to MFP. Time to step it up a notch and log my food every day for this next week. No goals as to what/how I eat. Just log each bite.
I gained 8 lbs. during the Silly Season (aka Nov. and Dec.). Four of those pounds are now gone. Time to actually work on the remaining 4.
