The berating of the OP for daring to feed their sick husband a milkshake because he's having trouble getting in enough calories after surgery was especially dear.8 -

How is giving suggestions berating someone? Why is a milkshake considered nutritious?
context and dosage.
for example: in a recent thread where a milkshake was suggested the OP was looking for ways to keep her husband's calories up while he cannot have solid food. milkshakes were suggested as an option and would absolutely fit the needs stated. nobody said to forego all nutritious foods and feed him only milkshakes forever and ever amen.
similarly, in this thread, people are happily sharing delicious foods that they eat within the context of their individual diets. nobody is advocating eating a diet which consists only of one type of food (almost nobody. RIP #easymacdiet dude wherever you are).9 -
but anyway, back to more important things, like when i can incorporate @Verity1111 's vegetarian chicken and dumplings into my life.
which, for the record, will fit really nicely into my calorie and macro goals.5 -

Curious, why does eating whole foods make someone holier than thou?
It doesn't, by itself... it's the attitudes that some people have to that lifestyle which gets others' backs up. There are definitely some on these forums who give off the vibe that they think they're better than anyone who dares to eat processed or sugary foods or drink soda, etc. And heaven forbid you set foot in a fast food establishment!
You may not have meant your statements that way, but it certainly came across as judgemental to imply that we could all get sick because we eat "bad" foods. Like @ccrdragon said, there are no "bad foods". There are some that are less nutritious than others, for sure, but in the context of a diet that's adequate overall there is nothing wrong with eating some of them.
Labelling foods as "good" or "bad" is what gets some people into a bit of emotional trouble with their attitudes to food and guilt about eating certain things. Our purpose in this thread is to enjoy the foods we love without guilt.11 -

lol. did he just rage quit the thread? bye felicia.
but in case you're still lurking, scientific links between diet and disease are not offensive, but that's not what you did. you didn't come onto the forums and find someone saying that they eat an exclusively twinkie diet and who began to feel hunger, fatigue and excessive thirst and then suggest that their diet may be linked to symptoms of diabetes. instead you implied that we were all at risk for it, in another thread you were incredulous that someone would drink a milkshake and you were "alarmed" that they weren't taking your suggestions for pureeing avocado or meat and vegetables instead . . . "just saying"10 -
I'll have my own answer tomorrow after my doctor's visit. It's a follow up on every last blasted test they've run on me over the past month - they tested places I didn't even know I had
The point is, this thread is loaded with my posts earlier on about the pizza/bacon_Burgers/snickers/ice cream and many other assorted chocolates etc and so on that I work into my weekly diet, and those tests ought to give me a clear indication of how my diet has impacted my health this past year. I'll post up again tomorrow if anyone's interested.
If how I feel is any indication, then I need more pizza/bacon_Burgers/snickers/ice cream and many other assorted chocolates etc because I feel pretty darn good.7 -

No. You asked why eating whole foods makes one "holier than thou" and I gave you my opinion of why.
Your one sentence - namely this one...kylecpatterson wrote: »Because those are the illnesses that occur due to eating bad foods.
- implied that you think there are such things as "bad foods" and that anyone who eats them is bound to become very sick as a result. Anyone can be at risk of those diseases regardless of how they eat. Anyone. You've never seen an article about an athlete who unexpectedly dropped dead?I'll have my own answer tomorrow after my doctor's visit.

Hahaha, hello again-- that one with the husband needing milkshakes was me! And yeah, how ridiculous was that? It's really, really hard for some people to live in a middle ground, I think. I really do admire people who eat really really well but there's nothing wrong with a milkshake once in a while. (Especially if you've apparently lived on less than 1,00 calories a day for 3 days!) good to hear! i know how rough that can be, i had my tonsils out when i was 18 and i didn't eat solids for a few weeks (or talk, which made my family very very happy lol) and i accidentally ended up in ketosisv from not consuming enough calories, i remember the smell and it was awful.Verity1111 wrote: »jessiferrrb wrote: »kylecpatterson wrote: »singingflutelady wrote: »Tacklewasher wrote: »kylecpatterson wrote: »Skinny people still can get cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, just saying...
