Nighty night. Pooped out from 18 holes of golf and walking to get my 10,000 steps in.

My first ever cat (I'm now on cat #2) would run to the door when I came home and would jump on the kitchen counter closest to the door and uttered "Meep". I had to walk over and pick him up so he could hug me around the neck. He never meeped at DH, only me. He'd meow at other times but "meep" was always his greeting for me when I came home. So when I post "meep" I'm saying "I'm here. I see all of you."
That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Keri - my mama had her 90th birthday in January. She lives with my husband and me. We had a mini celebration on her actual birthday on Jan 9th. Then a family party for her on the following Sunday. I did live video Facebook feeds to share both occasions with family and friends. She really enjoyed hearing about people joining us from afar to celebrate.

Mia, love your Meep story. I have a Tortie and she definetely has her own unique tortie talk. She talks mainly to my husband. Whenever we come in from anywhere she is desperate for him to sit down so she can be next to him. But she doesn't want to sit down next to him. She wants to sit in his seat before he gets there so they can do their routine of him sitting and not sitting on her. But if I am home by myself with her and he drives in the driveway, she runs to get under my bed like she is afraid of him. But not long later she comes out and wants her man. I really feel she knows he needs her. He is the one that rubs her belly and just sits thereby his side with his hand on her. But several times a day she gives this meow to me and I know she wants me to put everything down and make room on my lap for her. She doesn't stay for long, I guess she just wants to know she still has that control over me. I love a rescue cat. There are so many people that want full blooded animals and will pay the prices to get them. We were those people one time and Buddy will always be a wonderful memory for all of us. But rescues are so important to give some love to whether they are in their golden ages or a tiny baby. My daughter is the same way. Rescue all the way.

Thank you Beth! I think she may outlive us all. She keeps herself busy with work on the never-ending quilt, crochets, embroidery, reading, her garden plus she makes jewelry and does mosaic glass projects. She doesn't require any assistance to get around. Her only real issues are painful arthritis in her lower back and some dementia - short-term memory loss. She has enriched our lives more than we thought possible. And we spoil her all we can. ❤️7

Lenora - So sorry to hear you were physically assaulted. My heart goes out to you - not something I would ever want to experience. I grew up in a family where we knew we were loved, but hugs were
not something that we got a lot of. When I had my kids, I started hugging them as babies and it's just something we do now, often.
I'm pages behind but will try to catch up tomorrow. Have our youngest grandson spending the night with us tonight. He's watching hockey with papa but I want to get some snuggles in before he goes to bed.
Hugs to all. Have a great day.

VA Karen - so glad you are able to make the trip to see Olivia and give love and support to her parents.
Carol - sounds like a nice time with friends
Ginger - your mom is beautiful. She just glows. You can tell she has had/still has a rich life. I lost my mother at 63 when I was 29. I wonder if I would have the patience to have her live with me. You're a gem!
My kitty, Shirley, spends hours in my lap and sleeps with me BUT she is very particular about my husband. When he gets home she meows and loudly protests if we hug and kiss. I am sure she is jealous of his attention to me. When he goes upstairs she raises ahead of him to flop down on the landing for a special belly rub. She protests if he isn't going up fast enough to suit her. I guess he has a special touch! I found her as a rescue the summer after the 100 year flood we had here in Nashville in 2010. The lady that had her has a shop called "The Cat and Dog Shop". One side of the shop has all kinds of knick knacks, decorative things - all things cat. Most of the cats and kittens roam around the shop and they have access to an outside area which is wonderful. The other side of the shop has doggy items but no animals. After the flood the shelter had so many litters of kittens and grown cats. Shirley had actually been adopted as a kitten but returned to the shelter when her owner developed cancer. I went to visit her off and on through the summer. Because the shelter said she needed a companion cat and hubby said only one for us, I thought I couldn't get her. So in October I said something to the worker at the shelter that I loved Shirley but couldn't have 2 cats. She said I could have her - didn't know why anyone said she needed a friend. She is absolutely the sweetest cat I have ever had. I have taught her to give "Eskimo Kisses". She is shy around strangers but has recently been coming downstairs during my Monday afternoon study group. The other ladies love her. She seems to know when it is Monday afternoon and watches for the ladies to come. Then she goes and hides for awhile and makes a grand entrance meowing her way into the discussion.

Morning everyone!
I woke up yesterday with my left cheekbone killing me. It is either sinus or a tooth problem. I have had the same problem several times over the last couple of years. Each time I went to the dentist and each time it was sinus. This time I am going to treat first for sinus. Watch it be a tooth! In the meantime, trying to figure out how to log my herbal sinus blaster. It tastes so vile that it cannot possibly have any sugar in it!
Karen: Sorry to hear tht Olivia is struggling, but am glad that you and your partner will be able to go and meet her and give support to her Mom.
Carol11158: I worry mainly about calories, but try to stay within the MFP goals for all the nutrients. If I go a little over or under on the carbs, I don't worry about it.
Michele: I think husbands were invented to give us practice with patience! For sure their brains do not work in the same way as ours, but you gotta love them! Thanks for the lamination idea. The French are currently in the process of switching their licences to a hard, plastic version, which will solve the problem.
Becca: Your chicken dish sounds better than pizza!
Ginger: Your mother is really beautiful; I love the way her smile lights up her eyes!1 -
Hi everyone,
It's Friday night and I am pooped! Another long week at work. I am glad to have a couple of days off. Your stories are inspiring and make me feel like I'm part of a special community. I miss having girlfriend time. Work has just dominated my life for years. This year I will try to achieve more balance. I hope to retire at the end of 2018. Lots of thought about what lies ahead for me.
Sweet dreams!

Hey now.....
Today was a beautiful 48° day with lots of sunshine and melting snow!! Yippeee! Of course, stupid a** me let my fitbit go dead while I was wandering around town so 3/4 of my steps didn't register and I know I went way over my goal! Grrrrr! I'm adding charging my fitbit every other day as a new goal for February and beyond! I gotta be able to see those steps registered to feel like I'm accomplishing something everyday. Plus I like to show my doc on my fitbit app what I get done everyday. He's very supportive of my efforts and it's so nice to see his surprise and hear "Good job!". He's my #1 cheerleader. I'm gonna miss him when I have to change docs here soon.
All these kitty stories are making me miss my baby Missy something terrible.... ...
I hope she is doing OK....the only pic I have of her....
Aaaannnyyywwwaaayyyy.....finally got my new debit card after it getting forwarded from one shelter to another for about a month. I'm surprised it didn't get lost in the mail. Now I have to get one of those protective wallets cuz it has one of those chips in it. Ugh. Gotta get one though cuz it's too easy for it to be scanned when you're not looking. I'm not taking that chance!
It's time for me to take my shot, my pills, and change into my jammies for TV time! Here's some memes for everybody to enjoy.....
OK, nighty night.....everybody have sweet dreams! Love you all!! Peace!

Carey N Alberta: I love your poem, " Some days are better, some days are worse.

tammycif: Some restaurants are posting menu's online with calorie information. Olive Garden is one of them. When we go there, I've already chosen my meal before we even leave home and it is always something that I'll enjoy that fits my food preferences and calorie needs. Maybe the place you're going shares that kind of information. :flowerforyou:
Karen in VA: Have a good trip. I'm sure that your support will be appreciated when your partner's daughter realizes you are not going to add to her worries. This is a tough situation and I wish all of you well. Prayers for Olivia.
eileenbednarz: Welcome to a great group. Post often to give and get support.
carol11158: I count calories, not carbs. I tend to eat more protein and fat and fewer carbs that the MFP program seems to favor. I feel better this way. I hope you will find what works best for you. :flowerforyou:
Yinka: I've tried yoga from You Tube, DVD's and also from apps. I really prefer going to a class for the social aspects as well as for the ability to have a teacher that I can ask questions and get answers. The presence of other students is also a big plus for me. I'm retired, so I have the time available to go to a scheduled class. Everyone is different. Some prefer the privacy of home, or have a work schedule that makes attending a class inconvenient. My gym has both morning and evening classes available so people who work during the day can attend evening classes. In the mornings when I'm there the majority of people in the athletic club are past 40. The majority of the morning yoga students are also past forty and many are past 60.
Becca: Love the film clip from Road to Morocco. "Der Bingle" and Bob Hope were a great team. (My German grandma always called Bing Crosby "Der Bingle".)
Margaret: Congratulations on 5 days ice cream free. I'm not able to make that claim.
I was able to go to yoga today and loved it. Tomorrow I have a riding lesson so I'm getting treats two days in a row. The biggest news is how well DH is doing. He can see again!!!! He's talking about going fishing with a buddy and also talking about using the sailboat. I hope that the motion sickness that kept him from enjoying being on the water will turn out to be a thing of the past. (If not we may be selling boats.)

morning ladies~
well all was well until last night..Tom and I had a screaming match.. all I get from him is snarky remarks .. no normal conversations..
I said so what has the last couple of weeks done for us? he said nothing.. I am not going to change ,your not going to change and either you can live like this or not...
you know I dont ask for much but for love and respect and I get neither.. soooo we shall see how this weekend progresses2 -
Good morning!
Quiet day today. Going to make a big chilli to have with roasted cauliflower and freeze the rest. I love "banking"food. Hope my windy system can cope with beans and cauliflower!
Also reading newspaper day. The Saturday edition is the only one I read. I like the TV guide and can plan my foreign film ordering. I have four more episodes of a German series coming in the post from Lovefilm today. I also note down any new books coming out for future reference. I keep a notebook by the side of the sofa.
Bon voyage Karen!
Allie - Sounds like nothing has changed and nothing is going to change unless you change it. Why should he change? He likes bullying and demeaning you.
Lots of love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxx3 -
Allie, I'm sorry things haven't changed with Tom.1

Well, I'm up much earlier then I'd typically be on a Saturday. Haven't had a chance to be on the last couple of days. Enjoyed a few minutes to catch up.
Thursday was better foodwise for me but got very little exercise in. Yesterday was a great day for exercise because we took a field trip and I surpassed my goals but eating wasn't good art all.
The reason I'm up so early is I got a call just after 4:30 a.m. that a church member is in the process of passing away in an out of town hospital. I'm waiting for the rest of my familyv to be up to head out on the three hour drive to be with them.
Thanks everyone for the encouraging words and warm welcome.2 -
Ginger Your mother is lovely! Great smile.
Kitties I love all the kitty stories. I am partial to cats. We have dogs right now, and I adore them. All our kitties got very very old and died, some living into their 20's. I believe I will have another cat one day.
I work a double today then we take off at 5:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. I will be sleeping on the plane. We can't wait to get out there. My director at work got my shifts covered, something we are usually responsible for doing. I am so grateful.
I have prelogged all my food for today to help me stay on plan. Double shift with lots of stress is a good way to blow it. Not going to happen.
I may not post again until we get to California unless we have a lull at work.
Thanks, everyone, for the wonderful support!

Allie, I'm sorry... there are no words for when someone kills the hope of making love work again. Do what you have to do to take care of your future, dear heart. You can do this!
Worked out yesterday, 23 minutes on the elliptical, five laps walking, five laps running (turtle in peanut butter running, but still) and last night was salmon, brown rice and steamed broccoli. The DH and I had a long talk about what minimum eight weeks of sitting on his butt was going to do--he probably burns 3500 to 5000 calories a day in the work that he does, and we need to make better choices now for both of us.
Monday is pre-op, Tuesday is probably 12 hours work, Wednesday is surgery, if all approvals get through. And I slept more than 8 and a half hours last night. I think it's all going to be all right.
Love y'all,
Lisa in West Texas
PS - Light bulb moment for last night: For some reason, I always thought brown rice and wild rice were the same thing. Probably because wild rice is usually, well, you know, various shades of BROWN. I do not like wild rice, I never have. Turns out, however, that I love brown rice, even if it does take 45 minutes to cook. Very yummy. 56 and a half years old, still learning stuff. Yay me.
5 -
Lisa- you can cook large quantities of brown rice and freeze suitable portions. It only has to be microwaved or dunked in boiling water for 30 seconds. You can keep it in the fridge, but not for more than a day. Rice is a notorious breeder of bacteria. My son does a multi grain in 20 mins in his Instant Pot as a pressure cooker and then uses it for lots of meals. Before Christmas I cooked loads of dried chick peas and froze portions.
Reading the newspaper and catching up with my recorded tv still. I should do something more useful, but I CAN'T BE BOTHERED,! My chilli is cooking.

Allie take care.

Allie, has he gone to counseling with you like he promised? If not, set up appointment with lawyer/mediator and send a real scare into him. He doesn't think you will ever go through with kicking him out. Show him you mean business. He changes ..... or you do.
Shoveled snow for 90 min yesterday
Did 98 squats and 15 min yoga too!

Did an hour of Kelly Coffee Meyers Ready Stop Go DVD. I wasn't impressed with this DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Floor Burn DVD which is pilates.
I'm supposed to lector at the church tomorrow. Why she put me on for a Sunday is beyond me.
Went to go see the play "Hamlet" last night. The guy who played Hamlet did a really good job of portraying Hamlet and how he was mentally.
Becca - you never cease to put a smile on my face. "Your own noodle"....lol
tammy - as you can see, I like to try all sorts of different things so popsecret sounds good to me. I know that we can get uTube downstairs in the exercise room, I just need to find out how to do it.
Keri - in one of my deep water classes we knelt on the noodle while doing something (I forget what) with our arms. Boy, was that a core workout!
About doing low carb: for anyone who has done it, that just covers processed carbs, right? Not fruits and veges?
Ginger - your mother looks great. You must get her genes
pitegny - when my cheek begins to hurt, I am pretty sure it's sinuses. So I just take a decongestant. When that happened the first time, I went to the dentist. Even tho I was pg at the time, he took an xray and determined that it was, in fact, sinuses. I would never have thought, but now I know that it does
Kristina - you ARE part of a really special community.
Sherry - loved the busted can of biscuits. And so true
katla - I go to class for yoga and also do it at home. Sometimes you really need someone to just correct your form. When I go to the gym in the morning, it's the same way, most of the people are past 40 or stay-at-home moms.
Alison - I was hoping that there was aa change in Tom. Maybe there is...just give it a little time
Heather - I didn't know you could freeze rice! Well...I usually only make a small portion at a time anyway. But that's good to know.
This gal didn't know that Newcomers had plates/cups/napkins in supply so she bought some for the Wine & Design. Think I'll go to WalMart and return the unopened items. I'll give the cash to Vince, then we can just issue her a check. I took the forks for Hopsitality and I'll give the spoons for the gal who keeps the social supplies. Then I'll probably go to Ollies since I have a 15% off coupon, I'll see if there's anything that I'd like.
