:) I drove Jake halfway to the airport this afternoon. He will stay in a hotel tonight and catch a very early morning shuttle bus to get to the airport in time for his 7 AM flight...so the pets and I are at home without him for a few days. He has been very excited about the trip. He spent two weeks packing and then at 11 AM changed his mind and repacked everything in different bags.

:)/Beth, when I had my back surgery, they wouldn't let me leave the hospital until I was urinating on my own. They did an ultrasound of my bladder to make sure it was emptying rather than relying on what I told them. And they sent me home with some pills to make sure my bladder would continue to empty for a few days. Glad things worked out for your hubby.

    March Goals
    Tuesday's Progress
    1. Carbs 50-75g (limit 25g/meal)
    (B25, L0, D24, BBS152 = 201g)
    2. Fiber 30g
    ✔3. Track/complete entry daily
    4. Vegetables - big salad daily
    5. Exercise - log 30 Fitbit minutes.
    6. No eating after 9pm.
    7. In bed by midnight.
    8. Declutter: ✔Office Supplies, Electronics, Music, Craft Supplies, Cleaning Supplies, Utility Drawer, Utility Closet

Well... at least I'm tracking. Strange day yesterday. Felt off kilter all day. Late nite binge. Ice cream, cookies, cream cheese. Shaking it off.

Long day today. Started with an eye exam - monitoring the pressure in my eyes. I have narrow angles causing high pressure in my eyes. I'm using eye drops every night. Hoping to keep the pressure down and ward off glaucoma. Today... we measured the pressure again (20 & 21) and the angles of my eyes. The narrow angles have become more narrow. 4 being open. 1 being closed. Mine are rated a 2. The angle is a little canal at the outer edge of your iris. It's the drain canal for fluids in your eye. If it closes - the fluid can't drain and creates high pressure in your eye - leading to glaucoma and possible loss of some vision. I can have a iridotomy - laser surgery - to make a tiny hole in the iris to let fluid flow more freely. I have a consult with a doctor next week to determine if laser surgery is recommended. Doc said 5 years ago - this treatment wasn't yet invented. I don't have any symptoms. And likely won't until it's critical. Then it becomes an emergency.

I also have thick corneas which can throw off the pressure numbers anyway. But my eyes have been tested inside and out. I've got all the colorful pictures to show for it. I remember feeling... yet another doctor telling me a body part is too thick. ;-)

Folks... Be sure to get your eyes examined regularly. Early detection...

Pip, are Rocky and Floyd related or is it just a coincidence that they look so much alike since they are the same breed.

    Lenora, why are you lurking.

Still freezing but maybe I am getting used to winter again??? But I don't think it got this cold all winter which is unusual for this area. But every year we have been getting warmer and warmer. Global warming?

Becca: Congratulations on your 2 pound loss! WTG!!! Your salad looks fabulous. :flowerforyou:

Sarah in Ontario, Canada: Our river is higher than it has been in several years. So far we aren't worried but we are keeping an eye on things.

JanetR: Mia looks alert and beautiful.

Re: Peanut M&M's are definitely the devil's candy.

Beth near Buffalo: Notice my comments to Re; Candy belongs to  And I'm no saint either. Andies. :grumble: :embarassed:

cpopa16: You are now a member. You joined by posting. Let us know about you. Where are you from?

Sue in WA: Thanks for your good wishes. We are in a tidewater area, across the river & about seven miles from the Horse Expo Facility as the bird flies. It is about 39 miles by road. I'm watching the water and it is still at a relatively safe level. It is 2.2' and rising for the next 20 minutes or so. We're beside the Columbia River, about 64 miles inland from Astoria on the coast. We have an emergency plan in mind if things get scary and FEMA flood insurance. I doubt we will need to use the plan or the flood insurance but I'm keeping my fingers crossed just the same.

    Rachel: Welcome! :star:

Shari from IL: Welcome to a great group. My daughter, her husband & children live in IL. :flowerforyou:

Paula: I am avid about air quality. Anything which can be smoked should be smoked away from other people and out of their airspace. :grumble:

DJ: Thanks for your good wishes. (((HUGS)))

    Rachel: Welcome! :flowerforyou:

DH is reading in the other room and I plan to join him. I hope I can find something fun to watch on TV so that I can sit and knit while I watch. I'm trying to finish a scarf for one of the grand kids. They have snow.

I too had an eye exam today, I have macular degeneration which the doctor checks every six months. It does continuously progress but at least its a slow progression. I do take daily meds to slow it down as much as possible. The doctor will call me tomorrow with the results of today's colorful pictures :)

LOL - Katla, you Meanie! Maligning that poor innocent candy... I mean I am the one that insists on eating it, even when I don't have the calorie budget... :/

Well, Girls, I didn't stop at the gym, at all.. DH didn't call when he normally does, and since he was sick, I was a bit worried and just came straight home.

All I can say is, thank God I didn't eat much during the day, today - or I certainly would have been over goal, again. *sighs*

DH was just not willing to expend the energy to get to his phone... He is all right - he ate some soup and he is sleeping, again.

    Goodnight, Ladies!

    Hugs for Everybody!

Heather UK – The patties were good TY I love seafood but due to > cholesterol I rarely have shrimp anymore :-( I also love winter squashes. Garlic is part of my base seasonings, along with onion, celery, and cumin.
    Hope your boiler is fixed.

Chrisi n MA – Good luck with the PB! My son dispatches for a company that picks up from pharmacies and delivers medications to facilities for many states, so I understand your work issues.

Kelly – Congratulations grandma! Look forward to more baby pics.

Sarah – Take a few deep breaths, exhale slowly. Our minds can be our worst enemies. Try relax and not worry til you know if there is anything to worry over. Hope all will be well with Doctor visit.

NYKaren – Prayers for your daughter and family.

Katla - Love winter squashes and do not add sugar or syrup, but do add 1 tsp butter and salt ( I require 400mg sodium/day!) We also roast cut up squash and put chunks in soups or stir fries. Sorry you are under the weather. Tylenol, fluids and rest! Hope the temp. is short lived.

Lanette – I was coming home from work at approx.7:30 am when I slipped on my steps. I try not go out on the ice anymore. :-) Is there a link for the personality test you are talking about?

Beth – Hope your trip to/from hospital was uneventful. Prayers for Hubby and surgery.

Becky- Nice benefit that your Hubby can plow your drive with big plow! We do not take April vacation days to compensate for snow days; what they do is add days to end of year and if too many may add a Saturday school day.
You do have your hands full. What a blessing, you and Hubby were able to take in your niece as your daughter.

Denise – My sister does well losing with swimming as her exercise, hope it worked well for you.

DJ – What a great attitude! ….”So far ahead ….. count my blessings!”

Joyce – They say a pacer is not the answer because it is a pb. with ANS (Dysautonomia); I asked that ? being an old cardiac/respiratory/emergency RN. The musical sounds like fun.

Janet – Prayers that Mia will be able to come off O2 soon. Love her pic. :-)

Son did shovel a “small” path to car in case I go out. The Plow guy has been by 2x's so driveway is clear. It is snowing lightly right now, I wonder what morning will be like? I need a few groceries: tomatoes/cukes/lettuces/pears/plums etc. I had asked son to get these when he was out earlier but what I got was a Wendy's chicken patty with lettuce and tomato on it.
Well, I still have 4 pages to catch up on but will take a break for now. Stay warm stay safe.

Thank You for the welcomes and warm wishes.

Pam- Thanks for the information. Always open to suggestions.

Sarah- Email isn't something we can use for most of our staff. It would be great if our Director would do more personal recognition. Working on it.

Karen in Virginia - Doing a happy dance to celebrate Olivia going home.
I will try to put some photos loaded on the computer so I can share. DH still hates them but I have been getting lots of compliments on them.

KJ - Happy cuddling with Joaquin.

Becky - It is always sad to lose someone to the demon drugs. I really hope that her kids can stay together.

Janetr - Such good new that Princess Mia went home today.

Re - Those M&Ms are very tricky. I know I have had more than one run in with them. It sounds like you lost your 55lbs in a very sensible way that you will be able to maintain.

Beth - I'm so glad that your DH's surgery was successful. You have to forgive him for not being honest, he's a man and he wanted to go home.

Paula - Congratulations to your daughter. It's a nice bonus that you like the guy.

Planning on having my regular dessert on either Sunday or Monday to celebrate our anniversary. I think we are going for Billie Miner pie at the Keg. I've never tasted it but quite a few people have raved about it. It better be worth the wait. I really need to get some No Sugar cookies, etc. baked so I can pull them out when the craving hits. Also time to bake some bread.

Got the Secrets Quiz done for work. The ones who were working today were puzzling over it on their breaks. Some of the secrets are funny. I hope they enjoy it. I work on Friday so have to pull together my green outfit. I am excited to see what Justine has done for the cake. I will be foregoing it though. It is really hard at times. I have discovered over time that I have no will power so extra hard for me.

My sweet Harmony is coming tomorrow. I am sure she will bring some of her "Babies" with her. I am hoping that "Pumpkin" doesn't come, that is one creepy looking doll but Harmony tells me she is a great baby sitter. Lol.

Katla – Hope you make it through the flood period unscathed.

Penny – Like your 'Extra victory'

Beth – Glad Hubby feels better after this surgery. The Nurse/tech should have seen that he urinated and measured his output -status post surgery (seen by doing a bladder scan). Hope he does not have complications.

Paula – congrats on daughters engagement, especially to a guy you like! In our state it is illegal to smoke (anything) in public places and within so many feet (not sure how many) of public buildings. Hospital employees walk up to a bus port about 200 ft from hospital in order to smoke. You see them out there even in extreme weather!

Ginger – They do lens transplants for glaucoma with good results. Declining vision can be frustrating.

Janetr – My mom had Macular Degen. and treated it for years. The eye specialist told her to have all her children do eye exercises and checks along with special vitamins to aid in eye health because M.D. runs in families. Do you have siblings and/or children? Let them know.

Congrats to the babies coming home!
3AM and going to try and go to sleep. Everyone stay safe.

Allie here's something to ponder. How do you feel about yourself when you are with Tom? Does your self esteem feel fabulous or do you feel bad often. Sometimes, we give other people power over ourselves by letting them decide if they want to be with us or not, forgetting the most important person in that equation - us. Perhaps based on your experience with this person, you could give some thought to deciding what is best for you. Remember, people can change, but they have to work at it, it is not a matter of just saying they will change. Do you see tangible evidence of improvement by Tom? I understand how complex relationships are and it is not easy to just leave and I would never tell you what to do. I would simply offer that you put yourself first and see what happens. You deserve to be treated like you are the most awesome person...because you are!
Beth I agree with NYKaren, put lots of good food at your fingertips but also be very kind to yourself <3
Joycegreat news about your garage door!
    Rachel, Cpopal16 Welcome
    Paula feel better "hugs"
Ginger sorry to hear about your eyes, you are in my prayers
Michele what are you making in ceramics class?
Sharon Happy Anniversary and enjoy your celebration
Penny Wow what a fright! Glad everyone is o.k.
    Leigh CONGRATULATIONS!

Counting my blessings today along with my calories. Spending the day with a former student who is now in college to become a music teacher! That is something to treasure :) also, responsibilities of selecting and interviewing candidates for a new orchestra teacher (for a retiring colleague) has just landed on my lap--I knew it would, just have to strategize and not punish myself over the stress this will cause me. I will figure it out, put on my big girl pants and hope that an amazing candidate walks through our doors and will take the job. It means late days and having to meet with some folks in my dept. that are less than easy to be with-gotta make sure to have protein snacks and get in the exercise no matter how battered I feel!!!

Back to work today-I am a grownup, I am a grownup, I can't stay in my pjs forever, I am a grownup :# NYKAREN

    Good morning Ladies!

Survived the latest blizzard. I was one of a handful who went to work and they closed the office after 11am. I trekked to my friends' home and worked for the rest of the day remotely. Why they just didn't have us work remotely from home is just stupid and uncaring. Spent a most pleasant evening with my friends, helped shovel out the cars when the storm abated about 7 pm. The snow drifted between the cars and I was navigating thru knee high drifts. Shoveling constituted my exercise for the day and they eat healthy so I was able to stick to my plan. Everything was clear, the weather and the roads in the morning. Massachusetts has mastered the art of snow removal. Bring on Spring!

Regarding M&M's and binging...I seem to recall an evening when I devoured a entire 3/4 lb. bag. Talk about a binge!! I confessed and moved on.

So happy the babies are doing so well. They are all so beautiful.

I have been invited to 3 food related social events, tonight, tomorrow and Saturday. Give me strength! I am back down to my low weight, after having mysteriously gained earlier in the week and would love to get to an all time low. I was losing consistently for the past 3 months until this week and I haven't changed my eating or exercise pattern. Oh the mysterious body. I will have to plan carefully or super glue my mouth shut.

    Gotta scoot.

    Everyone have a wonderful day.

    Chris in MA
