Tis not 'bout whether or not the tomato is a good thing. Tis merely about whether or not the tomato is allowed on a grilled cheese sandwich. Now, cheese is allowed on a grilled tomoato sandwich, and tomoatoes can be eaten as is the apple in my opinion. It's a fact though that grilled cheese contains no tomato.0 -

Part of the beauty of a grilled cheese is its simplicity. Doing a wine reduction is overkill.

This mentality is and was the start of the obesity issues world wide with highly processes products such as white bread, processed cheese product used as staple(key) ingredients and soda with refined sugars and HFCS its cheaper replacement due to subsidizing of american corn.
America owes all of its foods to other cultures and is very bland in comparison to the orgins just look at real cheeses vs most non-artisan american made cheeses which are almost all processed cheese product vs real cheese. and the US milk vs EU milks or small artisan-milks and the flavor/aroma the grass is very important in the cheese process not so much in the US.

Cheese on toast, no matter whether it's openface or closed, is a cheese toastie. A sandwich is better with MORE THAN ONE FILLING. Who thinks an L would be delicious? Oh, you don't know L?
