28/04 - 4 mile run - avg pace 8:22, which again is too fast - Found out they have pacers on Monday as well, so now wondering if I should go with the 2hr pacer or the 1:55hr pacer ... decisions decisions - any suggestions would be much appreciated

If it were me, I'd start with the 2 hr pacer and stay with them for the first 5 miles or so. Then, if all's good physically and mentally, over the next five work to the 1:55 pacer. At the 10 mile mark, see what you got. Can you push the last 3.1, maintain, or drop it down a gear. That's just me though. Good luck on your race!
Edit: FYI, I've only run 2 HM's, so take it for what it is, my opinion.3 -

Major crazy thunderstorms here in Cincinnati this morning. It looks like the Derby marathon start was delayed because of it. Poor Stan. I hope they get it in. This guy can't catch a break!0

Hooray! Finally able to have a decent run. Half mile warm-up, then 2 miles running, 0.25 mile walk break then 2.25 more miles running then cool down. Total of 4.25 miles running and 1 mile walking. Hip felt good and still feels good a couple hours after. Also, I *love* running in the morning! I'm so glad the sun is out earlier so I can do it.
Looking at rain the rest of the day today and all day tomorrow, so either I'll take a rest day tomorrow or just a quick run to test out the new rain jacket that arrived yesterday.
Totals for April: 52.1 running + 103.75 walking = 155.85 miles.6 -

Today's 10 miles kicked my butt. At the turn around I took a picture
The scenery was nice and there was a breeze, sometimes gusty, but it was 75 degrees at 7:30am! I had to walk after I hit 6 miles and kind of did a walk/run the last 4 miles. I ran out of water too despite refilling my water bottle before leaving the beach area.9 -

It was chilly, windy and rainy this morning so I had to break out the tights, long sleeve shirt, and gloves today. I was worried I might feel a little warm but it was actually perfect.
I took my "12 Mile Death by Hills" route to see how I'm fairing heading into this last week of this increased mileage cycle. I felt good through the whole route never feeling depleted but 3 of my later miles showed slow on my watch and I thought I may have to rethink increasing my mileage right away next cycle. But since viewing the data in Strava which removes the standing still at stoplights and stopping to fix the sole in my shoes the timing looks just fine. So I'm happy with the performance at this distance with the challenging hills, and believe I can move to the next level of mileage in a couple weeks.
About the shoes...I was wearing a pair of Brooks Ghost 8 and the insole in my left shoe started sliding out of whack, probably due to being wet and the add forces of up and down hills. It kept happening too. I might toss that pair early. I'm probably going to give them one more chance.

Monthly Goal: Stay "healthy" and get in good marathon training
Nominal Mileage goal: 191 miles.
Today's notes: 19 mile long Run today in 3:05:29, for a 9:45 average pace. Pretty much the same Route I ran my first 17 miler on, with some more added on the end to get the distance. Instead of posting what amounts to an overly extensive report here, I posted my full report on my first 19 mile run on my Training for my first marathon thread in the group forum. One thing I will say here though, the guy who I was running with (way more experienced than me) said I could (possibly) realistically take a minute off my pace for Grandma's, because of the large difference in topography....Talk about an ego boost!

I know! I was working the Cap City Half Marathon this morning in Columbus and they canceled 2 hours after gun time. I signed up for text tracking for Stan and I got a 15K notification after the 13.1 notification and the pace was all messed up (16+ min/mile). I was really hoping they didn't reroute/close the course but I just got another one as I'm typing this for the 30K that looks a lot more normal, so hopefully the bad weather holds off for him.

Successful long run this morning! The weather was good, started out cool with a few sprinkles but the rain held off. There was a nice breeze and it stayed right around 60 degrees so it felt pretty good. My running buddy wanted to run our usual 90 minutes but get to 8 miles during that time (we had been close). I did 15 minutes before she got there and then we made our goal, so I got a total of 9.35 miles. Definitely my longest run since my half back in October.
Looks like tomorrow should be cool as well, so that will be nice to finish up the month.
Good luck @Stoshew71! Hope you will have a good finish despite what sounds like some challenging weather.

April running goal accomplished today!
I had doubled my mileage from previous challenge yet I met the target! Even though I am a slowww runner my speed is improving.
Had to take 10 days off partly due to some family isuues and partly due to lazy excuses. Mileage could be more but I had no major pain issue, so not regretting the rest period much.
Running Challenge keeps me on toes. Also reading up the chit-chat & discussion of experienced runners is very informative and motivating!
Planning to toughen up myself so would be imbibing lifting in May. Running target will be same 100 km.

Just got a text update on @Stoshew71 . Finish time of 4:09:59. That seems off, hope he's ok, or thr tracker was wrong, it shows he lost 40sec/mile average pace, over the last 12k. Still a great run though.2

I vote not worth the risk. It's a meaningless number in the long term. Next month I suspect you are scheduled to kill 200 milles?2 -

Met my 100 mile goal yesterday. I have 9 more miles scheduled for tomorrow to close out the month. Ran 5 last night in 47:42 (9:31 min/mile). Meant to take it easier around 9:40, but that didn't seem to happen. Feet fell asleep the last 1.5 miles, and apparently not feeling my feet helps me run faster? I think this is a hydration issue as I've noticed it a little more frequently as the weather has gotten warmer but I may try a different lacing technique if it continues.
Had a blast working as a road marshal for the Cap City Half Marathon this morning. I was stationed at the first turn right before mile 1, so I was done pretty early after the last of the 5K runners passed. It was really neat to see the elite too. I walked down to the finish line afterward but the time clock was at 1:20, so I had already missed the winners finish. Leonard Korir won overall male in 1:03:04 and Natosha Rodgers won overall female in 1:10:45. Natosha was running up in the pack of the fastest males when she passed me and I remember thinking how she was going out too fast...guess not!
Just as I was getting back to my car, a little over 2 hours after gun time, the storms hit and they had to close the course. I saw a handful of people post that they were at mile 12 or 12.5 when they were pulled off the course. I know how disappointed I would have been if this were me and I'm bummed for those that didn't get to finish.

@HonuNui you had a rough month, but did some great running. Here's to hoping May brings you more happiness.2

Wasn't meant to run today but it was 9 degrees outside so I thought to myself, "I'll just run a little bit of roads." ...Yeah well...I ran 12k of highway round trip to Wilmore Park so that is kind of the same thing right? Haha! Ran trail at Wilmore, had a random passerby (who I assume has seen me running in town before? I didn't know him from Adam) ask me, "Are you ever not running?". @JessicaMcB That looks like a great run!
Speaking of Good runs, best part of my run today was this conversation:
Other guy: Western States is a bucket list race for me.
Me: Yeah, me too, it would be awesome
OG: but Badwater is out of the question.
Me: yeah, that's too crazy, even for me.
Nice to meet up with someone who has my same mania.3
