28/04 - 4 mile run - avg pace 8:22, which again is too fast - Found out they have pacers on Monday as well, so now wondering if I should go with the 2hr pacer or the 1:55hr pacer ... decisions decisions - any suggestions would be much appreciated

If it were me, I'd start with the 2 hr pacer and stay with them for the first 5 miles or so. Then, if all's good physically and mentally, over the next five work to the 1:55 pacer. At the 10 mile mark, see what you got. Can you push the last 3.1, maintain, or drop it down a gear. That's just me though. Good luck on your race!

Edit: FYI, I've only run 2 HM's, so take it for what it is, my opinion.

That is what I was thinking as well, as this is my first one, if I stick to my game plan I can always adjust for the 2nd HM - but this way I can adjust on how I feel

I agree with this. Although if you feel comfortable you might just spend those first 10 miles slowly creeping up to the 1:55 group. Then increase the pace a bit that last 3.1 to see what you get. All of this assumes you wish to race this event, have tapered, and all that. Otherwise treat it as a long run with whatever group is nearest your long run pace.

Major crazy thunderstorms here in Cincinnati this morning. It looks like the Derby marathon start was delayed because of it. Poor Stan. I hope they get it in. This guy can't catch a break!

It was chilly, windy and rainy this morning so I had to break out the tights, long sleeve shirt, and gloves today. I was worried I might feel a little warm but it was actually perfect.

I took my "12 Mile Death by Hills" route to see how I'm fairing heading into this last week of this increased mileage cycle. I felt good through the whole route never feeling depleted but 3 of my later miles showed slow on my watch and I thought I may have to rethink increasing my mileage right away next cycle. But since viewing the data in Strava which removes the standing still at stoplights and stopping to fix the sole in my shoes the timing looks just fine. So I'm happy with the performance at this distance with the challenging hills, and believe I can move to the next level of mileage in a couple weeks.

About the shoes...I was wearing a pair of Brooks Ghost 8 and the insole in my left shoe started sliding out of whack, probably due to being wet and the add forces of up and down hills. It kept happening too. I might toss that pair early. I'm probably going to give them one more chance.

    4/1 - 10 miles
    4/2 - 4 miles
    4/3 - 4 miles
    4/4 - 4 miles
    4/5 - 4 miles
    4/6 - 4 miles
    4/7 - rest
    4/8 - 10 miles
    4/9 - 4 miles
    4/10 - 4 miles
    4/11 - 4 miles
    4/12 - 4 miles
    4/13 - 4 miles
    4/14 - rest
4/15 - 12 miles of death by hills
    4/16 - 4 miles
    4/17 - 8 miles
    4/18 - 4 miles
    4/19 - 8 miles
    4/20 - 4 miles
    4/21 - rest = insanity
    4/22 - 13 miles (technically 13.1)
    4/23 - 4 miles
    4/24 - 8 miles
    4/25 - 4 miles
    4/26 - 8 miles
    4/27 - 4 miles
    4/28 - rest
    4/29 - 12 miles

    153 of 120 miles complete

I know! I was working the Cap City Half Marathon this morning in Columbus and they canceled 2 hours after gun time. I signed up for text tracking for Stan and I got a 15K notification after the 13.1 notification and the pace was all messed up (16+ min/mile). I was really hoping they didn't reroute/close the course but I just got another one as I'm typing this for the 30K that looks a lot more normal, so hopefully the bad weather holds off for him.

Successful long run this morning! The weather was good, started out cool with a few sprinkles but the rain held off. There was a nice breeze and it stayed right around 60 degrees so it felt pretty good. My running buddy wanted to run our usual 90 minutes but get to 8 miles during that time (we had been close). I did 15 minutes before she got there and then we made our goal, so I got a total of 9.35 miles. Definitely my longest run since my half back in October.

Looks like tomorrow should be cool as well, so that will be nice to finish up the month.

Good luck @Stoshew71! Hope you will have a good finish despite what sounds like some challenging weather.

Just got a text update on @Stoshew71 . Finish time of 4:09:59. That seems off, hope he's ok, or thr tracker was wrong, it shows he lost 40sec/mile average pace, over the last 12k. Still a great run though.

My runners vanity is kicking in now. If I somehow run 3 more miles today, with my 5 tomorrow, I'll break 200 for the month.

The run brain is tempted. The thinking brain says no!
