So I've got these small polymer spheres and if you put them in water...

    1diyj67bmn6u.jpg

In about 12 hours they grow to 300X their size because they can absorb so much

The best part is that the white ones seem to completely disappear in water

What do you use them for? They are pretty

I wonder if they are hard, and if you take them out of the water do they shrink?

I don't know yet exactly. I thought hmm they're 99% water so I can eat it right? No...the package says no

They few I took out haven't shrunk yet, they kind of have the consistency of a more firm jello.

Interesting, have you tried to "pop" one?

The clear ones are really cool

I don't know if I've ever posted this before or not but this is the full transcript of the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon printed out into a picture of the Apollo. I couldn't find a frame this size that wasn't ridiculously expensive so I painted a canvas background all galaxy-like

I love your painted canvas background! Excellent job!

It looks awesome with that picture!

Thank you! My favorite part was making the stars, white paint on a tooth brush and "flicking" the bristles :relieved:

It looks wonderful, better than a frame would I think.

If they wouldn't poison the fish they'd look awesome in an aquarium

They have normal glass ones that you can put in aquariums.

I had to understand Growing Polymer Gel Balls better.

Water crystal gel or water beads is any gel which contains a large amount of water. Water gel is usually composed of a water-absorbing polymer such as a polyacrylamide (frequently Poly(methyl acrylate) or Sodium polyacrylate). Sometimes referred to as superabsorbent polymer (SAP) or, in dry form, as slush powder.

They can be used for: (The non toxic ones)
2 oz packs makes about 10 quarts. Our decorative beads are a colorful, crystal polymer water substitute for plants and flowers. The beads absorb over 100 times their weight in water to form glass-like pearls that slowly release water back into their environment.
