People who say cardio is "too boring" are full of crap

Some forms of cardio are incredibly boring to many people. Some movies and TV are boring, some aren't. Not sure what each has to do with the other.
I do not perform any cardio that I find boring, which includes pretty much anything on a machine, except rowing. Fortunately there are almost an infinite number of other ways to get "cardio" done, many of which I find enjoyable. Those are the methods I choose to do.4 -

I can't watch TV while doing any indoor cardio.. makes my head hurt.
Anywho who really cares? Not real sure how this should affect someone so seriously.
"Affect someone so seriously"? I spent a couple of minutes typing on the computer. I'm not suicidal. Seriously, read some of the threads on here, you don't have to be seriously affected to start a friggen thread.3 -

It started driving me crazy when people would ask me what exercise I do... I tell them and they say "I can't do that, it would be too boring... I spent 8 hours sitting on the couch binge watching a show on Netflix". Then I noticed a lot of people on this board using the same excuse of it being boring.
My response would be... Ok cool. And keep doing what you are doing.3 -
I like walking and listening to my iPhone. I will browse this site, listen to SiriusXM...try to keep myself occupied and post some music here, or do something else...it's a lot more interesting when you have the internet to toy around with...however, I have been caught with a low battery miles away from my car and I literally begin to panic and want to run.5

oh its not an excuse. you are still misunderstanding.
I prefer strength training and will do it several times a day everyday if my body permits but Cardio *sigh*
Cardio has been a great struggle for me this week infact, I just cant face it.
After my morning strength session, any time leftover is utlised on cardio such as treadmill walk but 10 mins in and I want to pull my hair out. its not stimulating at all. And Im sure it's because I have weak ankles which hinders me from running for long periods. If I could do that, then my opinion wouldn't be so negative.1 -
I like to watch movies, but can't watch them on a treadmill due to how my brain is wired. In public places I absolutely need to be aware of my surroundings or I'll have a panic attack. That means I can't run on a treadmill and listen to music or watch TV because I can't see and hear everything in my immediate area.
Also, the few times I have done it while the gym was empty or the treadmill faced the main part of the gym I wasn't able to push myself nearly as hard. What's the point of doing cardio if I'm going to put in less than stellar effort?
So in my case cardio is extremely boring and it has NOTHING to do with it being hard or not enjoying sweating. Deadlifting 360 pounds is hard and leaves me sweating.
THIS is an answer. For you watching movies while running isn't an option so it answers my question... for you it's a bad question because you can't do the same thing while running that you do sitting on the couch.2 -
I hate cardio but I do it anyway. It's a necessary evil and reach my quota/goals every week as I do with my lifts. As for TV, on rainy days I'll watch an NFL Network marathon and sit up on my butt all day and I have no shame in that. Life is about balance.2

You aren't doing cardio because it's too hard or you don't enjoy sweating or whatever, not because it's too boring. If you don't want to do cardio then don't, just be honest with yourself. [/soapbox]
I'm guessing it's not because they're afraid to sweat or find it too hard... they just don't enjoy being stationary.
This. Ten miles outside = joyful. Ten miles on a treadmill (even with tv) = a chore.

preferences?
perhaps people find mentally stimulating activities such as watching TV more desirable?
How is watching TV from a couch more "mentally stimulating" than watching the same show while doing something else?
Well - there's fluffy (mindless crap) and then there's stuff you actually need to pay attention to. I could use a "dreadmill" on mindless crap, but other shows would be ruined. Long distance runners sometimes like the solitude.
Again - it's preferences, we're all different.4 -
It is rather strange that of all the people in the world, everyone doesn't enjoy the exact same things...

But it's not an excuse. You simply don't understand because it's not how your brain functions. I don't understand how people dislike lifting, but I know it happens and I don't tell them that they are full of crap.
This is what I was thinking. My husband thinks lifting is boring. I don't. Somehow, we manage to coexist.2 -
So boring. Oh my god. I just can't even. It's so much more exciting to pick metal up and then put it down again.

you're furiously replying to everyone who disagrees with you
Sorry if I'm coming off as furious, just trying to get my point across.0 -

I HATE cardio. It is BORING. I speak of regular cardio such as treadmill running/jogging, elliptical, bike.
Have you tried all cardio? Kayaking, cycling, real running not on the lie that is a treadmill!0 -

i can't concentrate on TV whilst bouncing around on a treadmill3 -

So it's cool as long as each individual comes up with a reason you agree with but everyone else is full of crap. Got it.17 -

nope not all, that's why I mentioned "regular" in other words gym type cardio.
I did enjoy running outside btw - its just so much more refreshing.
I enjoy outdoor cycling and whilst that is considered cardio in very technical terms - my brain categorises it much differently. More so like a fun activity as opposed to "exercise"

Your toes sticking out of that cold water makes me shiver. I never got into dunking in an ice cold mountain lake in spite of all the opportunities. That finger hold is nice as well!3 -
My stationary bike isn't in the same room as a TV and I'd get motion sickness even trying. It's boring as **** but at least it's an option in the winter.3

I can't even stand 5 minutes on the hampster wheel to warm-up before weight lifting. I can't imagine trying to get my cardio in on gym machines. blech.1 -
Aren't we all full of crap? I'm sure even the queen of England poos.
Car-URGH-dio is not fun.1 -
People who think they know and understand everyone else are full of crap.
I absolutely HATE running on the dreadmill (or any other stationary cardio). I only do it when I have no other choice. It is BORING. Very boring TO ME. It not an excuse. I run marathons. My next 20 mile run is on Sunday. My next marathon is 2 weeks after that.
Think what you want. My opinion is that you really don't get it.

mburgess - sounds to me like you get most of your exercise doing soapbox up/downs over the most trivial things.12

I used to run past a gym (old neighborhood) with a bunch of treadmills facing out in front of the shop window. When I would run past on perfectly gorgeous days, I would be absolutely puzzled by why the *kitten* anyone would choose to do that.5

I have kids and am not married. The gym has a daycare.12 -
