@pinuplove that's what freaks me out about plastic surgery on the belly. The surface area trauma is massive compared to bariatric surgery. The recovery takes months. For me, no thanks.
Not to mention that the scarring from the surgery is often more unsightly than the fat and/or loose skin.1 -
Nope. I've taken an EC stack in addition to a deficit. Didn't really do much. Definitely wouldn't do anything if I wasn't in a deficit.1

Regarding surgical removal of fat....
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16772916
An average of 16 pounds from surgery. This was AFTER significant weight lost by the candidates. Consider also the months of recovery after surgery, the wearing of a corset day and night to encourage the outer skin to reattach to the flesh.
It would be far less expensive to lose a pound a week over four months. Waaaay easier.
That study wasn't about surgical removal of fat. It's about removal of excess abdominal skin following weight loss. It's really hard to lose 16 pounds of abdominal *skin* over any period without surgery.1 -

I dont know it all depends on how big your belly got when you gained weight. there are people out there that have had more than 20 lbs of excess skin on their abdomen, but they were severely obese1 -

I was simply asking if it's ever worked for other people. I personally don't think it works but everyone is different. I haven't tried other stuff but other people have.
The answers saying you must be in a deficit to lose weight are incorrect. Freezing does cause weight loss without diet or exercise, as does liposuction. These things destroy or remove fat cells from your body causing you to lose fat without being in a calorie deficit. They are not magic, they are clinical procedures and they do work.
but the cool sculpt sites(and the ones who do the procedures) state that you have to already be at a low body fat % before they will even do the treatments. its basically for those who lost all the weight they needed and just want to lose the little bit of fat they may have.its not for those who have a lot of fat.1 -
sounds like you're really committed for long term success..i lost 65lbs in 7 months. The amount of time you've spent looking for magic...you could have already had success.1

Everyone wants the results without doing the work. I did use Phentermine for a while under careful medical supervision. Stopped 80lbs down. I still weighed my food and logged it meticulously from day one. I increased my exercise as much as I could. I'm down 151lbs, and I'm crediting it all to weighing and logging and exercise.7

Is that the one people have died from by essentially "cooking" themselves from the inside?
As far as I am aware there have been 63 deaths attributed to DNP published in the medical literature. However, that goes back to 1918 (a factory worked in a explosives factory) so not exactly a startling number. In fact almost all of those were prior to the 30s when it was banned.
They are due to "cooking" themselves as you say. I was more think about the incidences of non-lethal side effects reported though.
(sorry if I'm not allowed to discuss things like DNP this BTW)1 -

I've heard of tape worms but I didn't know doctors are the ones who were behind it. That's insane and extremely dangerous.

That's what I find interesting and attractive about it... The ability to clean out some of the "extra" fat cells that I'm carrying around... after I hit and maintain my target BF level and maintain it for a while.2 -
I want to market a new fad diet. It's called the "Smack Your Hand Diet." It works every time for everyone. All you do is hire someone to follow you around and smack your hand whenever you reach for a food that exceeds your calorie limit.12

Now they are investigating worms, or rather chemicals they release, to treat inflammatory diseases actually. Everything comes full circle I guess.
On weight loss without trying though, that's usually a bad sign. My cousin started losing a lot of weight suddenly for reason and it was due to diabetes. Of course once they put you on insulin you tend to gain quickly. Or cancer you know, people suddenly start losing weight with that too.1 -

Why on earth would I want to know if someone is on drugs. I could care less. I am asking about weight loss suppliments. And things like stomach wrap, vibrating machines, twisting boards, freezing, surgery and so on. Not what kind of wacky drugs someone uses.
Eets a jolk...My sarcastic response was alluding to the theme of most of these answers: There is no replacement for good ol diet and exercise, short of surgeries or illegal substances
Illegal substances apart from marijuana cuz that makes you reeeealllly hungry and eat more ... or so I've heard1 -

No, people aren't different, a calorie deficit is the only thing that's ever worked for anyone, ever.
Incorrect1 -

Perfect! They could also have a bell and follow you yelling "shame" if you exceed your calorie target for the day.6 -

Yes, but we don't recommend the meth diet here.

Meth won't cause you to lose weight unless you are in a deficit. But there are legal, relatively safe methods that will (as discussed above). I'm not advocating for or against them, but liposuction does work and has been around for a long time and is relatively safe. Coolsculpting is relatively knew, but has become quite popular.1 -

I started taking a multivitamin every morning in college with my thyroid medication and inexplicably lost 9lbs that month. I don't know if it made my medication more effective, or if it subconsciously made me feel (and act) healthier. It encouraged me to start exercising a little the next month (just jazzercise style) and watching what I ate (still ate tons of pasta and pizza tho, just less overall) and I lost 60lbs in 4 months. I kind of wonder if that stupid vitamin may have made me go hyperthyroid somehow.1

Tapeworms are not an urban legend for weight loss (as in, they were definitely marketed for a long time as a weight loss product). And while a person can be infected without symptoms (including no weight loss), they can also cause serious potentially side effects (upset stomach, abdominal pain, even physical obstruction of ducts) which contributes to weight loss at that stage. Keep in mind, buying tapeworms is ILLEGAL in the US for weight loss for these reasons, plus public health and food safety reasons (those tapeworms infect cows/pigs and cause the meat to be rejected for consumption and financially impact farmers and detrimentally affect the health of their herds/stock).
Here is a semi-recent article about a woman in Iowa who bought one online: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/08/16/tapeworm-weight-loss-scam/2666005/
Here is a CDC article about the disease for those biology/parasitology nerds out there:
https://www.cdc.gov/parasites/taeniasis/gen_info/faqs.html
Fun fact: it is SUPER common for dogs and cats to get tapeworms, which they get from fleas (also mentioned in the CDC article), but that type doesn't really affect humans, and they barely affect dogs/cats (mostly because people freak out when they see the "rice" segments (aka the tapeworm segments) in their pet's feces).
ETA: sorry if this is TMI for some folks!1 -
Cold showers, something about converting white fat to brown fat. Brown fat is what the body burns for energy.
And drugs, do alot of heroin you'll slim right up. Lol jk don't.2 -

I've been advocating this for years. You could employ 4 people in a rotating shift full-time / person (or have set shifts for a greater number). It'd still be cheaper than weight loss surgery.3 -

There could also be a self help book which teaches you how to smack yourself.
Don't forget 'Smacking' (TM) licenced trainers at gyms around the world.
Ooh the franchising opportunities are endless.
Cheers, h.7 -
I read a comment here who said something like: if it's legal it doesn't works, if it's illegal it will harm you.
There's also appetite suppressants. But they're not magical, you've to eat at a deficit and keep your energy balance after losing weight wich is hard for someone who hasn't learned to regulate his nutrition and control his appetite himself.1 -

Exactly! If you want to be horrified and entertained at the same time, check out the ads in reproductions of Victorian magazines and newspapers - arsenic was another popular item.1 -
There is a "smack yourself" technique. It's called a rubber band. Snap it every time you are overwhelmed by a compulsion. It can "snap" you out of it.3

This is blatant patent infringement on my Fat-Whacker Diet where I chase you around with a length of rubber hose. My lawyers will be contacting you shortly.11
