Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening my dear Friends,
Weez, welcome. I hope you get to come often and join right in. I mean, after all, you had me at “Orphaned Grizzly Bears”. I was diabetic when I started this journey and have now been off my meds for almost two years and keeping my A1C at 5.1 or 5.2. I hope you will be able to do the same.
Pip, I loved the pics at the doggie run. Ok, Furry 5K.
KarenVA, I like your quote. I always hope things work out.
Allie, I’m just so proud of you for staying strong. ((((Hugs))))
Joyce, I loved it when you said, “I was going to post yesterday that someday Olivia, Mia, Jaukeem and Bea to some extent that they all grew up together. They have a lot of grandmas!” That is so true. I think those are great pics of Mozart. I love the one with his head on Melody.
Penny, that is quite a hare you have there.
Tere, an adult trip to Disney is wonderful. I just hope your DH can let his inner child out a bit easier than mine did.
Dana, so glad you are feeling better.
Heather, I love your travels so we all get to go vicariously through you.
Kate, for the first time, when I saw your picture tonight the white sign behind you looked like angel wings.
Lanette, congrats on the success at the gym. Keep it up.
Katla, so glad your cast is “horse friendly” and you have permission to ride again.
Ginger, it’s wonderful that you were strong enough to walk away all those years ago.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
I gave myself a haircut today. I messed up the hairline in the back but it will have time to grow out before my trip to the Moose convention in two weeks. I was trying to time it just right to not look like a brand new haircut. Lol Sending congrats to all those with victories and best wishes to those struggling. Thank you all for being you and for sharing your journeys.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Stats for today:
16,000 steps
184 minutes walking Sasha and Bess
49 minutes riding the exercise bike
118 minutes working on my front yard rock project
The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the MOMENT.

Dana Annabelle is a cutie, but she is my neighbor Prudence's dog, I just take her out walking.. Sadly, my husband really dislikes animals. I get my animal fix from other friends pets.
Well this afternoon I walked down the outside steps in front of Prudence and she walked fine. She had two really light cloth bags of laundry, so she drove there. I know, I know. But I can not tell her what to do. Her stubbornness is what keeps her going I think.

B.L. Weez - your hanging baskets are beautiful! So glad your diabetes is responding to eating better.
Margaret....thank you for sharing the Obesity Code info. Many interesting books were suggested in this group today, I was able to order them all from the library including Ginger's suggestion "Brain over Binge". Dropping carbs back does work! It's just doing it don't I know...
Becca, I am so glad your DH's surgery went so well...I too cannot imagine doing this endoscopically...I was worried they'd have to cut him open. Your sisters are gorgeous just like you and I hope Pam and Clair have a very happy marriage. Annabelle looks like a sweet little dog - hoping wherever Prudence ends up, she can have her furbaby by her side. So glad the senior assistance program person is coming to evaluate her. Do you know if it's a social worker?
Heather - sorry to hear DH is having anxiety about the upcoming trip. And sorry too that your son didn't get that job-- crossing fingers the next interview goes better for him.
Leigh - I think you said you had a stone floor in your home? If so does that help keep it cool? Except for a few hot (80's) days it's been rather cool here in the Pacific Northwest. Much cooler than it was last year when the heat wave started early.
Patsy - I'm a bit north and east of you in Lewis County, WA halfway between Portland and Seattle. Love the Washington and Oregon coasts...and the oysters and Dungeness crabs! Nothing better!
Tere - I love Blue and his smooth soft coat. He looks like he's in great shape ;-)
Tracie - best of luck with the knee surgery! Hope you are better than new!
Dana - so glad you got over the crud. Boy that was something. Your supper sounded good, I like little munchies like that sometimes too. My DH would join yours at Burger King! Mine is the same way about veggies - tho he'll eat cooked carrots out of our garden. And will share an apple a day with Sophie dog. Salads, other cooked veggies - nope. I wish you would write a soap opera! Enjoy hearing about your adventures .... I bet your life would make a good movie!
Allie - girl, you are on your way. I see new optimism and enthusiasm! You deserve the best life has to offer!
Katla - glad your little splint isn't limiting your activity much. Which finger did you break?
Meg in Omaha - boy you've had your share of bad storms. Hoping you folks in the Midwest make it through without any damage!
OK ladies, it's been a long day so will wrap it up.
Rosie is growing. Eating, playing, sleeping. Oh, and going outside every hour it seems. Only a few "accidents" so the whole family is getting plenty of exercise. I read that at 16 weeks, she'll be half her adult weight. She's ten weeks now. Hope she tops out around 11 pounds. Big enough to defend herself but small enough for me to carry.
You know, as I carry her out to the yard to do her business and she looks around at the trees and sky and birds... all of the things I take for granted, I think how special that this little life began ten weeks ago and is able to see everything so fresh and full of wonder. She plops down in the grass and buries her little face and I want to do the same and remember the joy of discovery like that.
Same goes for the babies on this list... Joaquin, Olivia, Mia... (sorry I know I'm leaving some out!).... they have a lot to teach us I think about being kids again.
Sweet Dreams!

B.L. Weez - this knee. It felt good for a while - but now I have pain in it if I overwork it. And if I step a certain way - Yeeow! I just repeat ow!ow!ow! a few times. I haven't heard of the cold laser surgery. I'll have to check it out. I'm determined to get this weight off and get in better shape.
My dear cousin is an inspiration - he just turned 67 this week. Where is he? Camping out Day 3 of the Oklahoma Freewheel. Day 1: bicycled 69 miles, Day 2: 59 miles. Day 3: 70. Tomorrow he'll cycle 68 miles. 4 more days of riding. One of his cycling buddies is 91. Both of my parents are living and age 90. I could live to a nice ripe old age if I get it together!
Had another good day today.
--Ginger in Texas4 -
Ginger in Texas Good news- the laser therapy treatment is not surgery! It is a laser that is applied to your knee area that penetrates the muscles and joints and promotes more blood circulation to the area and more healing- up to 70% faster. Really made a difference to my knee.
Barbie Cat Wow, that's a lot of motion for one day! Way to go.
DJ So excited to hear that you have kept your blood sugar down for 2 years. That is an accomplishment for sure. How many carbs are your target in a day? I'm a bit confused on so many different opinions on the internet about carbs and diabetes and what my limit should be. (Will be in a training program soon, but wondering and wanting to do the right things now too.)3 -
I don't know what it is, but this afternoon suddenly I started to have a "scratchy" throat. I broke down and had a bit of ice cream hoping that would coat my throat. Didn't help. Then I had some "throat coat" tea. Seemed to help a little. My nose is running, too. Well, I probably need a good night's sleep
Going to skim posts. Really want to get to bed. My tooth is hurting, actually a few of my teeth. Going to take a decongestant hoping that it's just sinuses

Lanette hey there! No the lady is called an "options counselor" with the North coast Aging and Disability Resources , with the Senior Center here in Warrenton as one of their regional offices. I hope its a positive outcome. She realizes that come the 20th of this month, when she goes before the judge about her ticket, more than likely she will have her license revoked. Soi if course she's driving all hell and gone these days. Her family is coming next week and so things might change quickly. Hugs friend!
Becca.3 -
Charlie finally gave up today and went to the license branch. Yes, I could have gone with him. But I wanted to let him do it himself, well I kind of forced him into it. You see there were two tasks, car registrations for both cars and his license. He was afraid he would have to get back into a line to finish the second task. I have been there and know it is streamlined. You don't got out of there with grey hair and a long beard unless you went in with one. He was just sure he would be there all day. Toy see the registration only had his name and had the wrong insurance listed. So he was thinking about all sorts of paperwork he had to bring. He got home 30 minutes later with everything easily done. I don't like it that a drivers license has to be renewed every 6 years now. For a guy almost 70'years old, 6 years is to long. He doesn't have any restrictions on his glasses now but he was on the borderline.
Well he went to Walmart to find some pants, he refuses to wear a size that is larger than what he is used to wearing. Plus with his ileostomy, it is placed right on the waist line which makes him wear his pants down further on his hips. I have tried to convince him to wear suspenders under his shirt but it's a no go. Also, the pants he likes has a button along with the zipper. With his Parkinson's, he couldn't use that button. So a logical solution would be an elastic waistline with suspenders?????? No, he is a man. That says it. So he came home empty handed except for a Milky Way candy bar.
I have found a new toy for Mr Mozart. The rolled up little piece of paper. He loves it. It usually gets into the kitchen wher he likes it. You have all those obstacles of kitchen chairs, etc. When he is satisfied, he picks it up with his mouth and then goes and sits on the rug in front of the patio door, puts it down and starts all over again. But that spot is always the starting point. Melody is getting up to watch him. Also with the laser pin, she will put her head over the side of the couch and watch it. So maybe there is hope she will eventually play. I know my kitchen scales aren't like the ones at the vets, but I picked her up and wieghed the two of us and then put her down and weighed myself. If the scales are right, she has lost 6 ounces. But I am doubting that. Tomorrow Mr Mozart starts a new kitten food. If you adopt during a PEtSmart event, you get a book of coupons. One was a free bag of food, certain brands. Not the kind where you may find your meat as the last item. This is chicken and turkey, carrots, peas, tomatoes and other veggies. Melody eats a lot of his kitten food now, I can't imagine what they will both do with this new food. I took what was left in the Purina kitten chow and put it in this bag and mixed it up.
Allie, you are getting stronger and bolder by the day. Did you ever think you could stand up to him like that???? Proud of you sister.
Am thinking and praying for London tonight. You have had your unfair share of problems

Karen- Olivia's photo gave me a huge smile.
Lisa - Egg is very cute. I wonder why that was the name that came to you? Who knows how these things work?
Lenora - You look fabulous.
Allie - It's refreshing to hear you dreaming? Who knows? Perhaps the dream will become your reality.
What's with Tom hugging and kissing you all of a sudden? Beware.
So, so proud of you. Stick to your guns.
Paula - Has drinking all the tea made any differences for you? I do drink a lot of tea normally but for whatever reason I've really upped my coffee intake lately.
KJ - Finding a nest of snakes would definitely bring my yard work to a grinding halt.
Re - Congratulations on reaching onederland.
Ginger - I am glad that you got away to make a better life. You are an inspiration to many.
Michele - I love the dragonfly.
I had a visit with my cousin's widow. I have pretty much known her my whole life. It was good but I had a couple of cries as he was all around us in that house. Good memories though. I was afraid she might not come to our Kast Blast in July but she promises she wouldn't miss it.
Took Keira to get her ears pierced. The first one went pretty well. Then she freaked and said she didn't want to do the second and to take the first one out. The girl gave her too much time so the little drama queen worked herself into a frenzy. She was tricked into getting the second one done but as soon as it was all the tears dried up. I don't think she has stopped looking in the mirror. I was going to have mine redone but there was no time.
I have been taking my trike aka "Sparkle Orange" out most nights but tonight it was pouring rain. I am missing going for walks with Chico and Larry. I hope that whatever they decide to do at the pain clinic will bring walking back to the realm of possibilities for me. My appointment is early tomorrow. I am nervous and hopeful.
Wednesday and Thursday are the days that the girls have their dance recitals. Hopefully we get some good photos.
Larry has decided to go camping this weekend. I feel like I have so much to do around here but communing with nature should be good for us. I think our DBIL wants to go with us but not sure how my sis feels about it.
Leaving you with a couple of my favourite photos.
How fast they grow.

Morning Ladies~
Sharon In Lethbridge , He is trying to suck up..trying to get me to change my mind.. none of it working..every day I try and find a little more out and make copies, tomorrow when I have off gonna make copies of our w2s for the last couple of years, and paychecks for the last 6 months and last one for 2016.. alot of the savings financial stuff I cant really find. so It will be up to Tom and his lawyer to provide.. dont know if he has found one yet..5 -
Yea! The pain in my tooth WAS sinuses. Took two decongestants yesterday and now the pain is almost all gone. I had a feeling that's what it was. The only problem now is that these decongestants really dry me out and I'm wide awake at all hours. Hence, my being here so early.
Joyce - our cats love empty boxes. Like when we get a delivery of something, we give them the box. Another thing they like -- you know that brown paper that some places use for fill material? They love that stuff, they can hide under it and play. When we first got Loki we just had him eating the same food as the other cats. We (at the time) had to have prescription food for the one cat that was diabetic. One of my concerns was that he wouldn't grow. Well, today he's 15 lbs. He's not fat -- just big.
Sharon - when I was 40 I had a second piercing put in my ears. I thought this was so, so cool. Today I regret it. One of them closed up but the other one never did. Lovely pics
Right now I'm cold as can be. Soon I'll be so hot that I can't stand it. This happens whenever I take the decongestant. Well, could certainly be worse.

Woke up this morning and went into the exercise room. Put the radio on.
Horrible, terrible news of a raging fire in a multi storey tower block in West London. I have been in tears this morning, especially on hearing of the man who caught a baby thrown from the ninth floor. We have still to get the numbers of those killed, but it was 24+ stories.
Much love to all. Keep safe.
Heather UK xxxxxxx3 -
Morning ladies, gonna stay cool as a possible today, day 3 of our heat wave. Tough going in our school buildings as the only air conditioning is in the main office (go figure). Gonna give a more formal retirement speech this evening for my friend, I've worked on writing and delivering this one, so now I'm gonna let it go and just give it! Public speaking is not my favorite thing but the more preparation I give to it, results are usually okay. Food at this event will be truly poor, I will have salad but will also eat protein at home before I go.
DD and DH are giddy with the beautiful scenery, drove to Utah yesterday, and off to Grand Canyon today. They sound happy but aren't sending many pics to me.
Cheers everyone, NYKAREN3 -

I intended to respond to many of you this morning, so many inspiring, amazing, informative, courageous, determined women...
but then, as Heather said, I heard and saw on the news about the unthinkable tragedy in London and I am just horrified beyond belief. It's like what happened on 911, with people trapped and jumping.
I have to pull myself together and get ready to go to work.
Thankful for all of you.

Good morning! Happy Wednesday! I have been reading posts every day, just nothing much to add. DH left Monday afternoon for his work trip. Grumbling all of the way out the door. I tucked a little note of love and appreciation in his bag. I often think of how I never get appreciation from him; but at the same time, I am equally at fault for showing him or telling him how much I appreciate his sacrifices, hard work, and that I still love him. We usually save that stuff up for birthdays and anniversaries and maybe that needs to change. Anyway, he found the note Monday night when he unpacked and called me. His first full day of meetings was yesterday. I haven't talked to him yet to find out how it went.
Listening to the rumbling of thunder as I run the sprinkler. The radar says we have a storm/rain front coming in, but the way the weather has been going, it will coast by my yard and hit further inland. It has been in the 90s and a bit uncomfortable. We do have central air, and I turned it on for the first time yesterday, right before I put the kids down for nap. So hard to sleep when it is hot and stuffy. It seemed to work well; all the kids slept a good two hours!
Being a bit naughty this week with my eating and I better rein that in! Monday, DYS texted me on his way home from work and said "I will take care of dinner tonight!" I thought he was going to do the grilling, because that is what I had planned. Nah. He brought home tacos. Then yesterday I was doing pretty well, then I caved to a half pint of Ben and Jerry's before bed. OH well, better choices today.
Ginger- Thank you for sharing your life/marriage story! You are very brave and strong. I am constantly amazed at all of the women on this site and so thankful for the insight and advice we get/give through all of our struggles in life! BTW, I have the Erin Hansen quote hanging inside my kitchen cupboard (where I keep my goals and inspiration). "There is freedom waiting for you on the breezes of the sky, and you ask "What if I fall?", Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?" I am repainting my entryway and living room this summer and I plan to make a border near the ceiling and paint those words in it. I think they are marvelous and uplifting!
Heather- I also woke up to the news of the fire this morning. Makes my heart ache to think of those people.
Lanette-I love your insight into the brain of a fur baby (real baby). I feel that way when I take the kids outside. Everything is new and exciting to them.
Becca, Joyce, Tere, and all of the other owners of fur babies- Love all of the pictures of your pups and kitties! I envy you your animals. I grew up with dogs and cats (and birds, hamsters, fish, etc); but with all of the kids I have to care for, I just can't bring myself to care for one more thing right now. So I DO enjoy yours! Keep the pics coming!
Bearlady Weez-I am in awe of your former job as caregiver to orphaned bear cubs! I never knew that little bit of info about the reproductive ways of bears. Makes sense!
Margaret, Barbie and other book suggesters- Thank you for all of the great book ideas! I have read the Salt, Sugar, Fat one, and I have read Strong Women Stay Young. The Obesity Code sounds good. I think I will add that next. My DH is borderline diabetic and I can attest to the weight gain caused by cortisol (stress). When my younger sister was diagnosed with the brain tumor, I began gaining weight. Over the year and a half that she battled the tumor I gained and lost the same 30 pounds! It is so easy to see how stress can be a killer. It really affects your health through diet, weight gain, brain (thinking and processing info), even memory is affected by stress.
More of you that I wanted to give a shout out to; but kids are arriving. Hello Mary, Beth, Chris, Sue, Dana, Cathy TX, Sharon, Kate, Pip, Carol, Katla, Karen VA and NY...Thinking of you all! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -
Gah! Still doing the challenge! Today is Challenge Day 14: 55 jumping jacks, 135 squats, 90 crunches, and 1 minute 40 second plank. I had to listen to some music today as I planked. Only way to hold it and have the distraction to keep my mind off holding it.7

Good Morning Ladies!
I am back in the office today….. I only come in 3 days each week but I wish I could work from home everyday. I have to start working on my attitude the night before so that I can have a positive attitude when I get here. I decided that I am just not going to participate in any negative discussions at all. The heck with the craziness. It’s time for me to do something else so I guess this weekend I’ll spend some time dusting off a business plan I had been working on so I can work for myself.
Sue: Your “DGD and friend covered in goats” picture is great. They look like they were having a grand time.
DJ: I have spent years massaging my DH’s inner child. He never had an opportunity to do half the things that I did growing up. Life was a serious undertaking for his family. I am thankful that when I present something new he is willing to try it. Sometimes things work out great, but sometimes things don’t go so well. For instance the first time I convinced him to travel by train and the train broke down. He still ribs me about that. I receive such joy watching him explore the simplest things. I try to plan adventures well in advance of the event so he has time to process what I think he will enjoy. For instance, right now I am working on a road trip to Vermont to buy some pure maple syrup in October – that is how I will get him to consider the magnificent autumn foliage. He will end up saying "I have to take Tere to Vermont because she wants some pure maple syrup instead of the kind we buy in the grocery store plus I think it will not cost as much if we go get it ourselves."
Lanette: Blue is in great shape. He has trained all of our neighbors to be his friends. He is also friends with their furbabies. Of course he is the biggest one of them all. We have ½ acre backyard that he rules from most of the day. We have two neighbors who have opted to share Blue with us versus having their own fur baby. Too bad they don’t share the walking and feeding responsibilities but he always has plenty of snacks and toys from them. They even give him Christmas presents. I forgot that he is bi-lingual as one set of neighbors decided they wanted to talk to him in their native language.
Becca: You are wonderful and I am sure Annabelle appreciates you as well as Prudence. I am so sorry your DH doesn’t care for animals. My DH grew up in the country and believed dogs belong outside not in the house. From time to time we have a terse word or two regarding the dog but since Blue seems to have attached himself to him its gotten better. I've always had a dog or two. If it were not for my DH's attitude I would probably have a dozen. Although I really do like Sue's goats!
Sharon: My granddaughter did the same thing but ended up with no pierced ears. She said she would try again when she turns 16. I have three holes in each ear.
Heather: Sending hugs. I often find the news too depressing to watch.
Allie: Always in my thoughts and prayers!
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Ginger have you looked at your shoes too. My knee hurt from December until the end of April. I went to a PT. He noticed how poorly my shoes supported my feet/ knee. Once I started alternating two good pairs of shoes and continued my exercises my knee improved dramatically. Now I will only wear certain shoes if I am going out to lunch. I will always carry a good pair with good support in my car. I still have a slight twinge now and then, but nothing compared to how my knee felt a couple of months ago.

Y'all are the reason I went and worked out today, just wanted you to know that.
Love y'all,
Lisa in West Texas10 -
I second what Lisa just said....Checking in with you strong strong women, keeps me going.
Kelly I have to do the same things with my DH, I have to be the person to initiate words of love, he would never do it! It is easy to follow his lead and say nothing, but it only makes me sadder, so your post reminded to once again speak my feelings out loud!
