Did 45 minutes of a step DVD. Boy, did I get a good workout. Probably because this was a VERY beginner DVD with lots of reps. I didn't have to really concentrate a whole lot and could focus mainly on getting a workout. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Patrick Goudeau Lean Hot Body DVD.

For those who don't have a computer: I was just reading in the paper that our local library is loaning out Dell laptops and Verizon Hot Spots for 2 weeks at a time. If you don't have a computer, check if your library is doing something like this.

Question for people: I will be going to my cousin's house to spend time with her while her hubby is away. I don't know if she has any exercise equipment -- I doubt it. I can bring my laptop (and I probably will) so I can play a DVD on it. But I don't want to do just pilates and yoga DVD's for 20 days (well, it'll be less than that because I know that I can workout at Jess'. She has weights). Any suggestions other than doing lots of walking?

    Heather - prayers for London

KJ - not having pets in one way may be a blessing in disguise. What if one of the children were allergic to the dog/cat? I usually need some sort of distraction when I hold my plank, too.

katla - I, too, use my phone only to log. That's what I also use my tablet for

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I'm feeling much better, just a bit hoarse

At the Newcomer general meeting someone sideswiped one gal's car. They really did some job on itl

Louise in Vegas - feel better fast

    Beth - WTG girl

    SueBDew - happy belated anniversary

Steve is still here. We had the Newcomer general meeting and when we got home he wanted to go to Waffle House. I went but had 2 egg whites.

A gal in Newcomers called to talk to Vince. She was telling him that this guy, Bob, is in really bad shape. Seems Bob has some sort of intestinal flu. He needs to be on the BRAT diet for the next 4 days. So I went to the store and got some white rice since I don't have any of that in the house. Also got some chicken rice soup and applesauce to give him. Made wild rice and also brown rice. Took it to a gal from ceramics who lives in the same apt. complex he does. I know she has a key to his apt. While I was at her house delivering the rice, applesauce and soup, she called him. He told her that he got up to have some toast and it took everything he could use to get back to his seat, he's so weak. Steve understood how I had to run & get something for Bob. I called Cathy since I have a casserole and pie for her (she's the one who had neck/spinal fusion). I called her twice and twice she never got back to me. She was at the general meeting today and said that she texted me. I don't know how she could have since I called her from my home phone and I don't have my cell # on the Newcomer website. Hopefully, I can get it to her soon. I made it Saturday (or was it Sunday). It's in the refrig right now with plastic wrap on top.

Took another decongestant and didn't feel like eating.

I used to play with my Daddy’s ‘hunting dogs’. White and Tan pointers; Buster and Ace. But, when I was about 10; and the gate was messed up had had to be chained, I left it unchained and Molly (black & white English Spagler) got out and was hit by a car and she had to be 'put down'. Daddy pulled the unlocked chain and slap me across the back with it. First and only time my Daddy had ever ‘hit me in a fit of rage’ (only time he ever hit me period). And then he threw the link of chain as far as he could and said that he’d should have never reacted in a 'fit of anger' over a damn dog; that is the first and only time I saw my Daddy cry. He knelt down and picked me up. I was, at least, as upset as he was. She was one of my favorites. I’m surprised that he even allowed me to play with them because if they are treated like a pet that doesn't always make them good hunting dogs. He always had pointers after that because they are hard-headed but easily trained. He also had a red setter, who was totally spoiled by me. Later on, he found another red setter on his hunting land, scrawny and thin. He figured that she must have been ‘gun shy’ and had been abandoned by her owner. She really became ‘my’ baby. Named her “Scarlet”. Then “Judge” appeared one Christmas Even and was placed on the gang plank from the outside porch foundation to the house foundation [house being remodeled] and whined and it sounded like a baby crying. We had had babies brought to my Daddy (he was an attorney). I don’t know who got to the door the fastest; but, I think it was me, because I carried him in by holding him under my arms; he was such a ‘cute’ dog. Probably a Shepherd mix of some kind. He had the facial markings of “Mickey Mouse’. I was already ‘in love with him’ before I got him in the front door. We had a lot of things abandoned at our door. The first dog we got after we married was from a AKC beagle. Porsche, she was funny. She’d lay on her back cuddled next to one of us and watch ‘football’ she really loved watching them go up and down the field. Got her in Jacksonville and she made it through 3 pregnancies, 2 sons, and 3 moves. She loved the boys. In Macon we lived in a split level home on a sloping lot that was fenced in, but left natural. I’d dress the boys in something ‘bright’ and put them out. Will walked along the fence; and, Trey played on the swing set in the 20’ x 20’ flat area in the yard. Then we have a chocolate lab, named Her-She (after we had to give away another beagle who was around 'hunting' beagles and he made such a racket baying and barking at anything that moved. JRT that my BnL gave is for the costs of her mother having her and the artificial insemination to get her pregnant. She was the runt, only female, only survivor of 3 in the litter.

Tere – When we lived in Jacksonville, FL … I worked with 3 women in the claims department and the 2 that sat behind me told me to keep my desk ‘locked at all times’. I did not understand it until the one sitting beside me pulled out a bottle of Vodka when she looked like she was checking her bottom draw at her desk. They told me, that if I did not keep it locked, she would have put it in my desk. She was weird.

Rori – I need to take Cracker in for rattlesnake booster and Tux in for his Rabies shot; but, won’t do it the same day. Cracker rides well in the car; Tux, not so much.

Sue, loved the goats. I have a friend that along with her daughter, they raise goats. They have several National champions and I guess the babies from his sire line really, really sell. As soon as they are born, they take them from their mom and then th two of them hand feed them. They have a milking machine that they have to use on the Momma's a coupe of times a day, refrigerate the milk and then hand feed the babies I roll they are old enough to eat. I have been out there and fed babies that are less than a day old. You can almost here those precious little ones purr as you cuddle with them. A friend went out with me and she adopted her son as a new born but he never wants to be held. And she has no grand children. The wee babie she held would never settle down, in fact peed on her. Maybe that was why he wouldn't settle down. But I was able to hold mine just like a newborn and he went right to sleep n my shoulder.

I knew of the London fore last nigh but woke up this morning to the news of the shooting at the congressional baseball practice. What is wrong with the world????? We all have our own views, but why do people have to be s mean about it? An American who wants to eradicate the Republican Party????

Not much news here, just enjoying. The antics of my kitten. He watches Melody. If she goes into the kitchen, he gets on a kitchen chair an Das soon as she passes to go out of the kitchen, he jumps right down on her like a mountain lion lying in waiting on his prey. Or if melody is on the couch, he will get to the top of the rocker and jump down on top of her. Just drives her crazy. I wish she would just swat him sometimes. But for some reason, she totally allows him to wash her ears. In return, she washes his butt. That's one thing he doesn't do well. After he uses the litter box, and comes into me, I can smell that he has pooped. One time I sprayed him and he cleaned himself to get the eater off. I told you all that I had this free bag of cat food and it is pretty much straight chicken, turkey and vegetables. Neither one are eating it that much! It was a $13 free bag of food!

Hi folks I've been so sad today about the news in London and about the shooting of the congressman here in the states. Prayers for everyone.

Joyce – i've always wanted to hire a landscaper. DH thinks it's nonsense for us. And he may have a point… We do have a pot-bellied pig in our front yard! But I would like some curb appeal. We once had a flowerbed with rose bushes. But it turned into a Rose bush climbing up our stair rails.

Heather – your little town sounds lovely. I like the small town or village atmosphere. We're losing it in our little town… Growth.

Beth and Cheri - me too! I want to be smaller than my husband. I've got lower than him in 2014. I will again. Let's do this!

Meg – hope you fared well in the weather Tuesday.

Becca – Annabelle is a cutie. And it's good you get to walk her. Exercise! We're the opposite here. DH would like a dog. I don't. I don't want the responsibility. Glad your DH is doing well. Love the Astoria Rocks. I belong to a group called Art Abandonment. It's so much fun to do.

Toni - glad the article was helpful. I find so many helpful recommendations here in this group.

Barbie – thanks for the book recommendation Salt, Sugar, Fat – I added it to my list.

Margaret – I read that about the fiber. I'll have to look into vinegar again. I was drinking that ACV and water and lemon juice and honey and cinnamon mixture. It was going around on the Internet for a while but I stopped it when I started low-carb. About the shoes… I'll check it out I wear mostly Asics sneakers.

Dana – glad you are feeling better.

Tere - I should put a water bottle on my nightstand. Thanks!

Beth - good job getting to the gym. I still haven't ventured out.

Kelly - I love that quote. What a great idea to paint it on a wall.

Allie - I know it's hard. You are moving toward a better life. Each of us deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. Strength. ❤️

All of you who commented on my story – Thank you! I always worry about over-sharing. But I don't share anything I wouldn't repeat to an audience of strangers. It is what it is. I think about writing a book if for no other reason then to get it off my chest once and for all.

I've had a great day today. Feeling more energetic than I have in a while. I feel like I'm getting my mojo back. What changed? Last night I realized a common complaint I hear from myself... feeling overwhelmed with responsibility. I thought about this and realized it's more that I feel stuck - not moving along in the various projects or areas of my life - those things that actually make up my day-to-day activity to move me toward fulfilling my goals. I had a plan... and I was working my plan. I lost momentum with the knee injury and I let it derail me. I've tried regaining it - fluttered here and there - but I lost focus on my plan for managing it all. So today I sat down and reviewed my plan. Refreshed and refamiliarized myself with all the action steps. Reviewed my method for keeping it organized and getting it done and I feel good about it. Re-energized. Ready to leap tall buildings in a single bound! Okay... not that much. But pretty damn close. ;-)

It's late and I need to get to bed.

    Prayers for you all. ❤️

    Good morning everyone <3

I still have the London tower fire first on my mind. Images in my brain that I am imagining and can't banish. I am currently feeling for the fire fighters and the recovery operation. I can take my mind off it , but it comes back. One of the disadvantages of being a novelist, I guess. Today I am definitely going to do some memoir. Concentrate on something else.

My new pack of tea towels have arrived. They are not the first colours I ordered, but I like them. I now have 9 for the price of 3. :D I'm going to ask my friend I am seeing tomorrow in London if she wants two purple ones. :D They must have sent this last lot special delivery as it arrived overnight!

DH is sleeping again. Working out in the garden, picking gooseberries and blackcurrants and preparing them, plus doing what he calls his "Relaxing" CDs every early evening, seems to have knocked it on the head. The CDs are mindfulness and meditation. He always comes downstairs after doing them looking very happy.

I think about my son too. He has been out of work since last September when he resigned his job. He is still posting on Facebook, so he is reasonably ok. He does text me from time to time.

Tomorrow I'm going to my friend's "Chemopals " picnic in London. All her friends who sat with her through her chemo have been invited to a picnic in the park outside her apartment. She is providing the Prosecco, we will bring picnic food. Starts at 4pm. She knows she has a terminal diagnosis and has decided now to take a break from further treatment through the summer. I know I will lose her before too long. It will leave a big hole in my life. She was my best friend when I lived in London and I still see her regularly. Very close. I'm sure tomorrow will be a lot of fun, but I feel a bit low in spirits at the moment. I'm the kind of person who has a few very close, intimate, friends. Nearly as important to me as my DH. I'm not sociable in general, but my best girlfriends are vital to me.
I find myself thinking about her future and how she is going to manage her end.

OK, enough of the low spirits. I need to get on with something more positive.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Today I put together the trampoline that Louis doesn't understand why I got it. "To walk on it!" He is afraid I will get hurt. I'm not going to be doing any flips on it. That's not what it is meant to do; although as a HS cheerleader we did use them to do flips, at an angle.

    Happy Thursday!

Beth – so proud of you getting back to the gym! Hope it’s easy to get “back in the groove” meaning you are able to take your time and do what you need to do without having to wait on machines, weights, treadmills. Was it you who said you stopped in recently and the place was nearly empty? That’s my kind of gym.

SueBDew – 56 years! Congratulations! South Pacific and dinner out was a nice way to celebrate.

Dana – I love seeing all the photos of Dolly. Did you get her as a pup and did you already have another dog when you got her?

Sharon in Lethbridge - what a cute selfie! Hope your ankle gets better quickly.

Vicki in NE – are you in the medical field or emergency services? You mentioned the “full moon” and things being crazy at work. When I worked at 911, we needed full staffing during a full moon if possible!

Heather – you will never be in need of tea towels! Very nice that you'll be able to get together with your friends and especially your good friend who has the terminal cancer.

By the way, that horrible fire in London did remind me of the 9-11 tragedy here in the US. Looking back, I know I started gaining weight back pretty steadily after that. I know it was a deep subconscious need for comfort or ???. Even though our 911 center was far from New York, we had immediate policy changes, tighter lock downs at the center, checks on the hydroelectric dams in our county, communications back-up systems installed. The evil in the world suddenly became a reality I had to deal with every day.

Kate – you are so right, disasters such as these fires bring out the best in people and it’s nice to see the response and outpouring of love and care.

Rori – our kitty (she’s probably 10 years old) was having problems with constipation, upchucking all the time. We only fed dry food – she had water available all the time and liked to play in it. Finally decided to buy some canned food and give her a teaspoon of it on top her dry food. She’s now 98% better. Of course she’s a pest wanting her special food all the time instead of eating crunchies when she was hungry, lol. Guess it’s a good trade-off tho. I buy “Fancy Feast” classic for her and a little can of it lasts her 2 days.

Michele – you are so thoughtful preparing dishes and food for others. I think that’s a long-lost art and a very kind thing to do.

Lenora – wow, I didn’t know they gave dogs rattlesnake boosters. Great idea though. I knew heartworms were a problems for dogs in the south. We give rabies shots up here but rabies is quite rare….some folks are stopping with that vaccination if they can, plus no longer giving the yearly other shots. Instead, they titre the blood to see if the level of protection against parvo and such is adequate and if so, skip. We may do that with this new pup after she gets her puppy shots out of the way.

Tere – I do not miss that petty work drama one bit. Good for you keeping out of the situation as best you could. I know a lot of gals who say they’d rather work in an office full of men for that reason and that’s what I preferred. I know guys have their “spats” as well, but it was much easier for me to ignore that.

I read an interesting article about wearing the same thing every day by Joshua Becker who writes a lot about minimalism….getting rid of “stuff” (decluttering) and how freeing it is. I thought his article was very thought provoking. This might be easier for guys than gals, especially in a work situation where a person is expected to “dress up”, but I once read Jackie Kennedy would find a sweater she liked and buy a lot of them in several colors and that would be her “uniform” and I used to do that to some degree when I worked– I am so long waisted, I’d load up when I found something that fit-especially tops. I agree, if you have a uniform to wear every day there’s no spending time going thru the closet deciding!

    Kate: Enjoy your trip.

SueBDew in TX: Happy 56th anniversary! You and your DH are champions!

Tere: It sounds like your coworkers never made it out of 6th grade. Some women never get over being mean girls. I hope you enjoyed your lunch with your supervisor. :flowerforyou:

Rori: I'm glad that Mars is doing better. Poor kitty. We had a cat with issues that turned to be caused by her dry cat food. It had too much potash and gave her kidney stones. A change of food helped her.

Lenora: I learned something from your post today. I had not idea that there are vaccines for dogs to protect them from rattlesnake venom.

    Heather: ((()))

Lisa: You can get an excellent cardio workout on a bike, either mobile or stationary, and it is easier on knees than many other exercises. I tend to pound my knees on a treadmill. Swimming is also excellent but I don't like to be cold and wet at the same time, so I choose a recumbent bike instead. :flowerforyou:

Yoga is a possibility today & I need to go out to the stable and clean Arrow's stall. I don't plan to ride until Saturday. For one thing, I don't feel confident about getting the saddle above my shoulders and onto the horse's back. I have a tiny little fracture in my finger, but it is sure sucking up my available energy. :grumble:

    Becca - A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! B)<3

    Sue - Great achievement! <3

My day improved as I managed 600 words on my memoir. I was writing about my Maths traumas. :o Feel lighter for writing it all down.

The tv is still full of very, very sad images of grieving families. So many people missing. Grief is turning to anger at how it could have happened.

My chemo friend wants the two purple tea towels that don't go with my decor, so I can take them up tomorrow. :D I have met most of her friends a couple of times at least, at her parties, so it should be a fun picnic. She is someone with a lot of close friends. Her autobiography is available on Amazon and Kindle, Loose Connections. A very good read. Her name is Maleika Rose Stanley. She writes children's books. I call her Roz. She is mixed race and was a foster child in a kind of children's home. She found her mother as an adult.

Going to watch Endeavour tonight. There is very little on the main channels in the summer, so the best choice is repeats.

Love Heather UK xxxxxxx who is now 41%fluent in German.

Happy Birthday Becca and Happy Anniversary Sue! :)

We had a terrible thunderstorm last night. Lightning hit a tall pine and it exploded all over the yard. Will have to have it inspected to see if it needs removal. As a result, our computer modem went out and I had to go to Comcast to get another one. Had a time hooking up the new one and getting the house phone cable added.
