    I think you handled it quite well, and she handled her apology well. You didn't cross any line, you pay the same as anyone else in that gym.

    This. It's the sort of petty thing that would annoy me, I admit, but I also KNOW that it's petty, so I keep it to myself. She didn't, but quickly recognized her error, and all is well. I wouldn't worry about it.

    I try to be that way myself, but as one of those "old crones" who'd probably mutter in the same way, I appreciate your effort. You probably helped her off her sad/mad place.

    The equipment is there for all paying members to use, that miserable old crone was the one with the problem. Just don't tie up my power rack doing 50 lb squats.
