Got up late and only did Madkin 1.5x. So that's only 5.5 miles so far today. Let's see if I am motivated to run at lunch time later today.

Well, I didn't get up early like planned- I just turned off my alarm and went back to sleep. Finally got out of bed at 7:10 and was out the door by 7:35. Thankfully the wild thunderstorm yesterday evening and night cooled things off. It was 75 degrees and cloudy.

My husband leaves for a trip for the next 4 weeks. What a bummer. It makes tackling my long runs more difficult. Oh well. I may have to break them up - do a 90 min run early, then finish off the rest in the evening or on the treadmill.

Great goal. I started in mid-July and have 22 miles to complete. I would love to loose 14 pounds by the end of August too. Instant comraderie! Hoping to be an encouragement to you.

So went on our run today and a truck driver threw out dog biscuits for my dog! Kind of weird especially since he wasn't even a UPS driver

Maybe the trucker just had some extra biscuits for whatever reason and decided to share them with the first dog he saw?

I did that recently when I changed my diet back to zero carb again... I had a bunch of nuts and peanut butter left over, so I gave a bag or bottle to homeless people as I saw them. I just gave out the last jar of peanut butter on Sat. (along with a couple of plastic spoons) to a homeless person and am down to only 1 bag of pecans for the next. When my cats die, I will probably give the leftover food to homeless kitties.

You need to wear them with these socks. Cape socks totally make you run faster. :)

    July goal: 55 miles

    7/2: 4.3 miles
    7/3: 3.7 miles
    7/4: 3.8 miles
    7/5: 2.3 miles
    7/9: 4.5 miles
    7/11: 2.5 miles
    7/12: 2.8 miles
    7/13: 3.1 miles
    7/16: 4.2 miles
    7/17: 3.1 miles
    7/18: 2.5 miles
    7/20: 3.2 miles
    7/23: 5.1 miles

    45.1/55 miles

I wasn't able to update yesterday, but I did get my run in yesterday morning. I got up earlier than usual, but it was already hot and it was pretty humid too. I really enjoyed the run though. I had my family reunion this weekend and the run was both a nice stress relief, and a good balance for the food and alcohol of the weekend. I considered running out to the lake since the family reunion was near home, but I decided to just go run at the park where I usually run on Sunday's. I didn't really want to run on the main busy highway and the gps showed another way to run, but I wasn't familiar with those roads and I didn't really want to be out in the middle of nowhere. Maybe next year I'll scope it out ahead of time. I am on track to reach my goal for July. I may not run this evening since I have so much to do that didn't get done over the weekend, but I am going to try. But I did sign up for a 5K on Saturday, so I will get in an extra day and shouldn't have any problem getting 9.9 miles in this week.

    Goal = 110 miles

Off to a roaring start for the week because I delayed my long run until today. It was a pretty good decision because it was quite a bit cooler today, just 66 degrees, although still in the range of 90% humidity. I am still in Iowa, so did the Iowa River Corridor Trail from Coralville into Iowa City and back. It felt tough today, and my wireless headphones quit on me just 1/3 way in. I had to just listen to my phone through the speakers because there was no way I was making over an hour of running in silence today. The trail was pretty empty on a Monday morning so I wasn't bothering anyone thank goodness. Stopped for an iced coffee at my favorite coffee place after as a reward.

Heading back home tomorrow so not sure I'll get another run in - I probably have time in the morning but don't really want to put sweaty clothes in my bag. Which reminds me I saw that some airport has added a running track - just looked it up and it's in Japan apparently. Who wants sweaty people to get on a plane? They better also have showers.

I'll put on my son's cape and growl "This city needs me" whenever I pass anyone.

Well your Nom de cursus is WAY cooler than mine.

Which is just Haas. Honoring my great grandmother Sylvia Haas. "Come on Haas" . Maybe I should do "Cursus Haas" for my race registrations.

Anyone else run with an alter ego?

ETA cursus is latin for running. How approps.

@garygse Ditto what @Orphia said. Love it!

@JessicaMcB and @katharmonic Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I can find a small something to clip to my fuel belt.

@PastorVincent I think I need a dog that likes to run but will also demand respect. I'm thinking Doberman or German Shepard.

BAH! They do NOT come in black for wide widths.

Yeah, that's one complaint that I've read about those shoes is that the wide width color choice is non-existent (not sure if it's the same for other shoes in their line-up or not, as I only ever get the Vomeros).

99 times out of 100, I end up leaving shoe stores with New Balance as they seem to be the only reasonable company on the market making wide width shoes.
