Why am I still in excellent shape after I eating junk?

I ate over 200 cookies this week, a whole deep dish pizza and cake but I don't look like it. Is it possible to reach a level of fitness that allows you to survive off only sugar? What's going on?

As you get older you will be saying "I used to eat nothing but junk and never gain weight" "now look how fat I am"64

A week is not an adaquate enough time period to really judge. Though if you are really in that high of a calorie surplus, my guess is that you have gained some weight, it just might not be immediately noticeable from outward physical observations. Easy way to find out by jumping on the scale.
If, however, you ate all junk food but still managed to stay at or below your TDEE adjusted for exercise, it would make sense that the scale would not move. In human physiology, a calorie is a calorie. It is a unit of energy. Junk food contains calories just the same way a Kale salad with skinless chicken breast does. Provided you stay within your limits, the food you consume does not matter in the context of weight.

No. I'm almost 30, my metabolism only gets faster as I get older. I weight lift 6 days a week and according to all recent science your metabolism does not slow with age, it slows based on activity level which my activity level is greater than any woman I know.28 -
You...didn't eat enough calories to gain a significant, visible amount of weight in a single week? Frankly, it would be difficult to eat enough in a week to visibly change one's body.
You'd need to put on, what, like 5 pounds at least to make even a little difference? I like to eat as much as the next person, but an extra 17,500 over my TDEE would be pretty challenging, since that's like 2500 calories a day over and above my usual daily intake. I like to think I could eat over 4500 calories a day in cookies, but somehow I'm not sure that's actually something I personally could do even if I tried.
Or did you just want to post photos? Not sure if there was really a question here.77 -
Stop working out and eat like that each week and you will start gaining weight.
If you wanted to post pics of yourself just do it. You don't need a lame excuse to do so.166 -

You can get away with a lot if your activity level is very high. For me if I run 30+ miles a week I can drink beer and wine daily but with less miles my belly starts to expand.10 -
Hahaha I endorse the bragging from the OP. Well done. Nice abs too.17

Hahaha! I did want to post pictures to brag a little because I'm super proud. But yeah, I didn't hit he gym either, went on a vacation and went a bit crazy eating everything in sight. I was hoping I hit a Level of fitness that allows me to eat everything all day non stop without worrying... if that's possible.

Thank you! Still curious about my question lol7 -
For one thing, the human body strives for homeostasis...in the short run it can handle excess calories and will put them to good use...consistently over eating (or under eating) over time is what overrides your body's ability to balance things out. In other words, a week of over indulgence is going to be pretty meaningless.
Secondly, when one is very active, one can get away with quite a bit because the energy expenditure is so high.
Thirdly, the fact that it was cookies and pizza is pretty irrelevant.24 -

COOKIES is very relevant. Cookies are always relevant.

And yeah, disguising bragging with a fake question isn't necessary. There's a whole forum called "success stories."
Was not a fake question. I am truly interested to see if anyone is capable of sustaining a healthy body with junk food in high quantities.5 -
I generally support the concept of "eat whatever you want and lose weight/be fit/be health/enjoy life" so I wanted to like this post from the title, but it seems more of an excuse for a humble brag and to post pics than anything else.
If your question was serious OP - you didn't consume enough total calories in that period of time to have a noticeable impact on your physique.
I guess the other question is - why the excess? 200 cookies, was that serious? Do you have BED?30 -

"High quantities" is vague. Could you eat nothing but cookies and sustain a healthy body? No.6 -

Would depend on what high quantities means and also what the rest of your diet looks like. When I'm actively training for an endurance event, I have to pack away the calories...most of my diet is pretty nutritious, but to get te calories in, I have to eat quite a bit of "junk" as well.
If it's just "junk" or mostly "junk" and you aren't getting proper nutrition overall then you aren't going to sustain a healthy body...for a healthy body you need vitamins, minerals, protein, etc...7 -

I was on vacation. My god mother is a professional cookie chef, seriously... she makes over 10,000 cookies every thanksgiving as presents to her employee's. Her skills are unprecedented. She made me cookies as a way of saying she loves me. I indulged.
It seems as if you all shot down my hopes and dreams of surviving off cookies alone. Thank you.6 -

No.
I just wanted to add you didn't survive off only sugar with 200 cookies and a whole deep dish pizza. Plenty of fat, some protein and lots of carbs, not "only sugar."16 -
Very strong "Look at me" post.
One day/weekend of a binge for most people usually doesn't induce any visual difference32 -

Binge Eating Disorder3 -
To answer your question, eating a diet of nothing but cookies would deprive you of essential amino acids and other nutrients and eventually you would be in trouble. However, if you were active enough you could eat a great many cookies in addition to the other food you ate without gaining weight. It's not a matter of being fit enough - fitness is a moving target. If you take your fit body and feed it badly it will eventually stop being fit.
Once when I was in college I ate an entire box of Oreos dipped in an entire thing of whipped cream. Didn't gain weight, either, and I was model thin at the time. Activity levels and metabolism can handle a lot of bad diet.2 -

Yes. I do binge eat every single day, mostly right before bed. But usually not on cookies... unless it's Sunday.9 -

Actually, I'm 40 and will still have weeks like this and not gain weight. The trick is I count every calorie and if I have a bad week, I try to make it up with a good week. If my calorie limit is 1400 and all of my calories came from cookies and pizza (happens) I try for 1400 calories of veggies and grilled fish the next day. If I eat 1600 calories on a special occasion, I'll eat only 1200 the next day. I still weigh what I weighed on my 21st birthday (98 lbs). So, although there's a possibility she'll gain weight as she gets older if she continues eating poorly on a regular basis, there's an equal possibility she won't if she's aware of her calorie intake and keeps working out.6 -
So you didn't eat that much over maintenance, or you did and it hasn't caught up.
You are lean enough that a stupid amount of carbs will not have an affect on your physique the next day.1 -

Chris Pratt has an amusing instagram series on the subject called "what's my snack?" Even though he works out like crazy, his diet has to be super on point to maintain what he's worked for. Some of it's collected here, enjoy.
