Wait, let me get this straight. You are telling me that single people will go to the social part of a fitness website, find someone they find attractive with whom they have a built in common interest, and ACTUALLY try to get a date?

Maybe they should start by trying to determine of that person is even available. "Can I get your number?" should never come before "Are you single?" And most of the time is just beat around the bush creepy small talk, they don't even get to the point.0 -

I'm a guy & I truly don't understand why other guys bother do this either. I mean unless they're hung like a horse, they'd probably get a much better response by sending pics of their tongue instead...2 -

I feel like there is this vast, shady, disturbing world on MFP that I never experience by just using MFP to log my food and exercise while occasionally posting comments in the discussion area about food and exercise.
It is like I accidentally open the wrong door at the back of my local Planet Fitness and find that a bondage porn is secretly being filmed (minus the grunting, there is still zero tolerance for that in the building, regardless). I quickly close the door and go about working out, but always wonder why a gym is hosting porn. (Just an analogy, the mysterious door at the back of PF is locked, so I'm not sure).6 -

Or you can just respond with "my bf/gf/indertiminate gender lifepartner who identifies sexually as a zebra/whatever wouldn't appreciate that." Then they know you aren't single/available and you don't have to bother getting all worked up over nothing. (You referring to anyone in that situation, not you in particular)1 -

Oh it doesn't work me up, I just think it's funny. I just respond with "what makes you think I'm single?" I'd find out if someone I was interested in was single before I'd express interest. To me it's common courtesy. Everyone is different I suppose.0 -

I bet that is where they keep the PF contraband (Olympic bars, plates, 80+ lb dumb bells, do-rags, meggings, booty shorts, gallon milk jug containers for water/supplement concoctions, sleeveless flannel shirts, work boots, etc)0 -
