Pip - Obviously, you have the shape face that can handle bein long or short. But, I think that as you get older, you look younger will shorter hair because your eyes are drawn up instead on down (to see just how long it is). If it is thin or fine, definitely short. My hair has always been fine, not very thick - in HS the Farah Fawcett cut was in, and that is how I wore mine ... with bleached highlights. Later on, I tried the Dorothy Hamill cut - My oldest sister had this cut and with her 'white' hair it was beautiful, mainly because her hair was more course than mine. Since then, she has let it grow out and cut it several times. But, hasn't gone to that type of cut since.

Mine is chin length and I am very happy with the cut. Had it very short and spikey, grew it out. I definitely do NOT look good with long hair. But, I got tired of always wearing it the same way. I do several changes; but, I won't ever 'buzz' it on one said with it long on the other. Only way I think I would buzz it or shave it would be because it is falling out for some serious reason.

Felicia! Congrats! Hope some pay increase came thru commensurate with the new responsibilities, or the ability to negotiate. And that your DH makes his peace with it. I never worked a job where I could negotiate (or realized I could negotiate) the starting salary - I am amazed when I see "kids" working in some IT jobs where that goes on and their skills are a sought-after and highly compensated commodity.

Dorrie - that's something Mr. Handsome wanting to be there for you thru the colonoscopy prep and at the hospital or clinic too. My DH wanted to be miles away while I had mine done. Heck, even I wanted to be miles away, LOL. The prep - just get ready to park in the bathroom with your laptop or smartphone or a large book. Prepare the exit site ahead of time with something like Vaseline, :s because it's gonna be sore-hopefully they told you that when they gave you the roto rooter stuff. Good luck with the procedure. B) And prayers going up for your stepbrother and family. Sounds like he's been through a lot.

JanetR - thank you for posting those photos. I would not have recognized the new you. :) There's something about looking at before and after photos that lodge into a person's brain. I remember I once had an employee who lost a lot of weight but still had the mindset of a heavy gal...she looked great and was thinner than me and that was during my thinner period. She kept saying she had a lot of weight to lose to get as thin as I was. I had her come into the bathroom with me take a look at us standing side by side in the mirror. I asked her if she STILL thought she was fat. The look on her face.... I think it hit home.

Heather - sometimes when I'm reading the posts on this site or typing a response, my DH will ask what I'm doing. I tell him checking in with my "Fitness ladies". He'll get this look on his face like hhmm.... so I say, "we're talking about menopause right now. Want to hear some of the comments and suggestions?" He grabs the remote starts channel surfing. I've seen weirder internet trolls than us, LOL. Keep having fun! How many more days until this vacation is over?

Becca - hope you are feeling better!

Pip - you and Kirby are so darn cute. How are the airstream curtains/cushions coming along?

Rye - I posted a photo of Rosie a few weeks ago, but here it is again. I need to get her in for another trim - she still has a lot of puppy hair on her legs and belly that easily mats:
    v99tlrwec38d.jpg

Woke up with an icky sinus headache...bordering on migraine and tummy has been jumpy all day. The PT neck stretches probably exacerbated the whole works too. It's gotten some better as the day has gone on. This morning at PT, he really worked my neck over and showed me a thing called "occipivot" that goes behind the neck with the patient laying on the floor, it's kind of a self-traction device. They sell them on Amazon. The tingling is much better.

We should be getting a nice breeze from the west within a few hours...blowing that smoke away! And cooling us down from 92 degrees! Chilly nights again, I can't wait. DH is dreaming about when he can start building a fire in our little woodstove now that he has about 3 cords of dry wood to burn...that might be sooner than I'm ready for.

That's a wrap, ladies. Hugs all around! <3<3

Lanette thank you so much. It is VERY hard to see yourself thinner, just as it was hard for me to realize I was that heavy. For the longest time I was going shopping and buying clothes that were too big. My family would make me return them. It is such an emotional journey. I lost 110 # in six months, the last 15 took another 2 1/2 to 3 months. I'm a long way from thin and have gained around 12-15 #. It bounces up and down. I'm very determined to get it back off. I've gone back to the basics and started over. Reread all my post bariatric instructions and sample daily menus, etc. Hoping for a jump start here.

Lenora The surgery is so streamlined and less invasive with much improvement over how it was done many years ago. I had only 4-5 tiny little incissions that were "glued" shut, no stitches. Recovery was very quick and easy for me.

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement.

Did an hour of a strength full body circuit DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to go to the deep water class.

Exercised, then went to the soup kitchen, then to this flea market where they have fruits and veges. Unfortunately, the fruits and vege stands are interspersed, I was hoping they'd all be in one area. Then to another farmer's market. Got some Asian Pears and some corn that this one gal said was really good. We didn't think it was that great. Then went to the Dollar Tree to get another wine goblet. I thought I'd gotten 26, I paid for 26, but when I got home I only had 25. I got some tissue paper thinking that I'd just return it but I can only exchange it, I can't return it.

I love how we have different experiences and can give personal information (I probably said that wrong). Like DJ's problem. I've never had first-hand experience with alcoholism, but others have. It's so great to get so many different viewpoints

    katla - love your quote

KJ - the only thing I can say is thank goodness this shower is being held at a winery!!! I'm not a drinker at all, there have been years even when I've gone without drinking. It just doesn't do anything for me. However, in this circumstance, I think I may need a glass or two or three to get me thru the shower.....lol On the bright side -- I sent an email to the lady in FL who was going to make the placq for Denise (the one I thought looked really bad) saying that basically I told her I needed it for the end of July and here it is August and I don't have it so now I don't need it and would like to cancel my order. What will happen? We'll see. Now the placq for Denise from the lady here in Hickory I think is gorgeous, and that was only the sample, not the finished placq. Update: she (the lady in FL) sent me an email saying that she understood and that she was only going to charge me the shipping (yea, right, NOW she was, but I bet not before) and how she lost the home they wanted. To me, just another excuse. At least I didn't pay her anything. She told me all about how this was not something that they were prepared for. Now why didn't she tell me that in the beginning instead of leading me on to believe that she could do it?

Dorrie - I'm so very sorry about your step brother. Prayers from NC

Heather - interesting about that ship. Thanks for sharing with us

janetr - what a transformation! You have such lovely daughters and grandson. He sure is one lucky guy to have you in his life

tracie - does the city of Green Bay still own the Packers? I thought Vince one time told me that they did.

Felicia - sending all good thoughts your way. Yes, the morning crowd at a gym is a totally different clientele than in the evening. Mostly elderly people. Occasionally you'll find people who get to the gym before work. But for the most part, they come after work. Later: congratulations, you deserve it

josephine - what about the spin class didn't you like?

Allie - you sound so great, taking such charge and not letting Tom walk over you. I'm so proud

One thing I've found that seems to work for me is during the afternoon I have a glass of lemon water. I usually constantly want to have something to eat, but the lemon water seems to squelch that desire.

Dorrie - good luck on the colonoscopy. How sweet that he wants to be with you!. Sounds like the conversation went wonderfully.

DJ - isn't that plaque just beautiful? I'm so happy. How is your umbrella? Oh, to get rid of cookbooks. Even tho there are some that I never use, I'm hesitant to get rid of it because "you never know"

    pip - gorgeous bracelet!

Went o AC Moore tonight. First went to Office Depot to get more raffle tickets for Newcomers, then ACMoore, then to WalMart, now home.

Hello, hello. I went to a spinning class (bike cycling) today--I may never go back. And I suspect I was mostly the youngest one there. I am getting no housework done when I exercise due to extreme laziness after. I have eaten a lot but seem to be holding the line and not creeping up on weight so...I need to be better on food and not give in to eating elsewhere than the kitchen at home. Well, off to do nothing. Hoping all is well where you are.

    Why not!! :)

I enjoy most spinning classes I've been to ... but they can be challenging!! :) Fortunately, you can do as much or as little as you want ... you don't have to do what they tell you to do.

Michelle in NC: Yes, Green Bay does still own the Packers. They have bought up a lot of land all around Lambeau Field and are putting in a nice park and some new hotels and breweries right now. It'll be really nice when they are done. I actually only live about a mile from the stadium in Green Bay.

Becca Hugs to you. It's terrible to miss your kids! Leaves such a void that nobody else can fill. I'll send him a card!

    Felicia Congratulations!

    DJ:
I live in Green Bay. The Packers don't play any of their games in Milwaukee anymore. I remember when they used to though! I'm not sure how many years it has been since they stopped...

Have a good evening everyone. I'm headed off to bed so I can get up early and enjoy my last day of vacation from work. UGH...

Dorrie, I already live your man. It's so sweet that he wants your family to know that he is not heir substitute and that you need all of them. Your children are very protective of you. Love enough for all of you. Good luck with your procedure. Good thing is you won't feel it or remember it all. Hoping for normal results. Mine is next month.

My SIL that had the lap band did wonderful with her recovery and weight loss until she divorced then it went all downhill between dress ion and 'no money for supplements' she went downhill fast and almost died. I don't think Karen even knows what she wNts in life. Charlie had 2 brothers and one sister. His Mom had 6 matti ages, most from men she met as a patient in the State Hospital, his brother right younger then him 2 marriages and has a wonderful life. His first marriage they both had their respective tubes tied to make sure of no children, the next brother had 4 matti ages and finally got it right. His sister had 6 marriages. His Dad had 2 marriages. He married his 2nd wife on the kids Mom and his wedding anniversary so he wouldn't forget what the next one was! So I am happy that even though marriage isn't easy, we will have our 45th anniversary this year. I really think my own parents and how all of us have turned out has he the biggest influence on him. He says he has never met a couple like my parents and is honored to have been their SIL for so many years. His family is just a mess.

We met on our first day of orientation at our new job. He worked in the pharmacy and I was an RN. The first day was a hospital orientation then you went to your departments for theirs. The reason I started when I did was that I had flunked the last seester of nursing school and had to retake it the fall semester. Our nursing school, was called a diploma degree schoo. They aren't in existence anymore. Pretty much your wholes nester was that rotation. There were a coup,e of small classes. The rotation was OB. Horrible. I was the only student in the history of the school, that flunked a class and came back to retake it! So I started work on November instead of June. Well Charlie was just getting out of the Navy then and got a job the same hospital. I really feel like God had a hand in me flunking that class and finishing in Novmber. We started dating in Feb, engaged in April, married in Sept.

Becca, what I first noticed in the picture was your beautiful full hair. My Dd always said a full behind was all the more to hold not when he hugged her. And he hugged her very often. All of us were raised seeing that. I think I was the only one not to successfully have it my own home but my daughter saw her grandparents love each other that way and much of their marriage and committment to each other gas been based on what she saw n them.

Hugs to Allie as usual. Does your granddaughter know and understand everything that is going on? I would hate for him to go off on you while she is there.

Joyce, Indiana where Charlie is falling in love with Mr Mozart more and more every day. You know he plays fetch. Well I'm not a good pitch so he is beginning to realize he gets a better throw if he drops his wadded up paper at Cgarlie feet. Also he lives to play with his hands when they tremor. Charlie loves it!

(((((((Becca)))))))) You're in great company - Beyonce, JLo and many of us here <3

DJ I feel for you and the problems with your DD. I had the same type of thing happen with my son - the boy's dad. He came to visit for 2 weeks and ended up staying for 2yrs. He and I just don't see eye to eye and the constant stress changed me. I hope for your sake that your DD is able to move out and move on before any harm comes to your relationship with your DH.

Today I decided to take charge of my nutrition again. I've been coasting for a long time - just couldn't seem to get myself in a place to really care. For some reason today was the day. Perhaps because yesterday I bought protein powder and almond milk, and had the Y lined up for today. So for lunch I had Taylor Farms Sweet Kale Salad and a chocolate banana protein shake. I didn't swim today because we got away late from home and there is only a 2 hr window of open swim time so I went into the gym and tried to figure out some of the machines - of course no one from the Y was there to help - ugh - but I signed up for a three session orientation. I did use the seated stepper which I also use at PT. Speaking of which I'd better get off and get my exercises in.

See you tomorrow (actually today) B)

Gloria in WA where I harvested my first yellow neck squash and a 10" zucchini - whoohoo!!!

Lanette: I'm in love with Rosie! What a cutie. I have only met salt and pepper colored schnauzers so Rosie is that much more special in my eyes.

Pip: you look great with short and long hair- I'm partial to the long ( I look awful with short hair, it adds 10 or 20 pounds to my face visually IMO) but you look good with both. My vote would be for long hair, but my bias is showing, lol.

Rye in Texas - off to swim now! Wishing one and all a safe, productive, and fun Friday!

Kate - Prayers for your friend and her family. How tragic!

Allie - You are so kind and helpful! I love that you are able to help others and in turn you receive some funds to buy the things you need. How lucky your brother is to have you to help out when they need it (and to also get a much needed break for themselves).

Dorrie - I hope your step-brother is improving. Prayers continue.

Heather - I am loving all your photos!

My friend arrived and we are having a great time. We have 4 or 5 others coming over this evening from the neighborhood for cocktails on the patio, our patio therapy. I got up this morning and did my walk. I saw she was up when I was doing my cool down and I heard her leave while I was in the shower. She has either gone for a run or run away. :) . She is happy to eat how I am while she is here. She said she really needs to get back to eating healthy, but she has been stress eating on all the wrong things. She has done it before (like I have) and knows what she needs to do, but you have to hit that magical place that puts you in the right frame of mind to get back to it. She said she hopes eating low cal meals while she is here will inspire her to restart her own plan. The smoked chicken tacos were a hit. The scale was kind to me this morning and I have finally dropped below where I have been ping ponging up and down from since July 10th.

Have a great Friday ladies! I'm going to enjoy being off work and having my friend here!

Becca - very true what Gloria said - Kim Kardashian has us all beat in the "caboose" department, lol. And I too love your hair! I am jealous, mine is a ball of frizz! :s

Pip, I think you look great long or short hair. Dazzling smile no matter what! Makes a person suspicious, LOL. >:)

Allie - you are such a caring soul ((((HUGS)))). What goes around comes around as my DH says.... the more Tom stalls, the more the universe will hand it back to him. So sorry you are going through this. Great to see you in the "moving on" mode. <3

Interesting comments about the old folks at the gym. I've noticed that as well - there are classes the younger folks take, but most of the machines are taken up by the seniors - a benefit, I'm sure, of the Silver Sneakers membership some of the Medicare supplements pay for. It will be interesting to see how it goes when the physical therapist takes me to the gym next door. I like doing my weights at home because I can get them done on my schedule.

Cool and foggy morning - weatherman says the smoke should be cleared out by noon.

    Happy Friday!!

Kate UK ~ So sorry about your friend's son. My husband's sister died at an early age (30's) and his parents never really got over it.

Oakie ~ Glad you and your friend are having a great visit.

Heather ~ Love what you are sharing about your cruise and visits to new places.

Pom is ready for his morning walk but still hopping on 3 legs. We are giving him a pain medication but it doesn't seem to be helping very much. Will hear from the vet today to see if blood test reveals a low thyroid reading. If so, he will be given medicine for that. If not, it is indicated from other symptoms that he may have Cushing's disease. The test for that is very expensive so I don't think we will go further with testing. Just treat the symptoms as best we can.
