1st Goal 150 in a livable way = It's. Not. A. Diet.
2nd Goal 145 = normal BMI
UGW Range 140 - 145
I weigh first thing in the morning when I get up. My scale only has 1/2# increments, and I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale. Comments reflect prior day.10/20/17: Oooh, I like this thread! I've been weighing myself daily since April, keeping track in MFP Food Notes, and logging my "official" weigh-ins on Saturdays. I've been amazed at how much my weight can fluctuate from day to day, depending on eating out or processed foods, adult beverages, net calories green or red, etc. Daily weigh-ins really help me see cause and effect with high sodium days, adult beverages, too much sugar, etc. I don't get freaked out as much by a jump on the scale now, since I know what I did to cause it, and what I can do to change it. My scale measures in 1/2 # increments, and I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.Round 20
10/20: 166.0
10/21: 166.5 After vacation day with hubby & eating out for lunch and supper, not so bad.
10/22: 167.0
10/23: 168.5 Ack! Sedentary day, pizza for supper & 3 days too little water.
10/24: 167.0 Drank 15c water and net calories (barely) green.
10/25: 166.0 Back to SW this round. Net calories green 35 & 12c water.
10/26: 166.0 A little surprised....happy hour after work with 1 pint beer, "healthier" pub food & popcorn for supper. Drank 14c water. Fitbit 14,674 steps, 250+ steps 13/14 hours & 40 floors.
10/27: 165.0 Fitbit 15,929 steps, 250+ steps 14/14 (boom) & 38 floors. 14c water. Been low on fiber lately.
10/28: 164.5 Fitbit 15,461 steps, 250+ steps 13/14, & 37 floors
10/29: 166.5 Ate way over on carbs and every bite was delicious! I don't care, it was one day.
10/30: 166.0 Very sedentary day (church, visit parents & 3 hour round trip) following high carb day, no surprise. Fitbit 3,888 steps, 250+ steps 5/14 hours & 7 floors. At least I drank 12c water.
10/31: 165.0 Fitbit 13,521 steps, 250+ steps 12/14 hours & 48 floors and 12c water
11/01: 164.5 Fitbit 13,993 steps, 250+ steps 14/14 hours (boom) & 40 floors; 12c water
11/02: 164.0 Dog-walk day plus active evening: two loads of laundry, made large couscous salad, cooked triple batch cream of leek soup & baked lemon zucchini cake. Fitbit 16,109 steps, 250+ steps 13/14 hours & 42 floors; 13c water.
11/03: 165.0 Expected. Net calories red plus non-dog walk day plus shortened workday (fewer stairs breaks) plus inactive evening (busy-ness & stress of past 3 days took its toll). Fitbit 8,110 steps, 250+ steps 10/14 hours & 20 floors. 12c water.
11/04: 163.0 Wow, unexpected. Of course, net calories green, dog walk day & kept busy around the house after work. Fitbit 16,188 steps, 250+ steps 14/14 hours (boom) & 49 floors (plenty of stairs breaks at work plus home); 12c water.
11/05: 164.5 Pizza for supper, net calories red & 12c water. Walked dog 3.58 miles. Fitbit 16,837 steps, 250+ steps 9/14 hours, and 28 floors.
11/06: 166.0 Ack! Can you say sodium? Not great eating all day but active. Then caved when hubby got out tortilla chips & salsa con queso in the evening. Usually I ignore his snacking, but he was sitting next to me on the couch. I will have to forbid snacking next to me in future. Net calories red > 500 and sodium > 4,600mg oh my! 10c water and Fitbit 15,573 steps, 250+ steps 9/14 hours & 20 floors. Will be drinking lots of water today.
11/07: 164.0 Better. Net calories red 12, sodium green & 15c water. Fitbit 14,887 steps, 250+ steps 14/14 hours (boom) & 41 floors.

So gutted with myself but also it's ok...it's been a down - I'm pre-menstrual and I've had a bit of anxiety today over having to go to the job centre.
While I'm not going to make excuses for myself I am going to draw a line under it and say tomorrow is another day. This is something I am learning to do after severe depression and anxiety.
I think we can all join you and say, "been there, done that, got the t-shirt." Here's an online hug from me. We can do this!!6 -

I've decided that I am going to eat at maintenance for 2/7 days a week, which is why I am going to start using my average weight. Want to offset hormonal changes that occur when losing weight for extended periods of time that can make it harder to lose and maintain weight and hoping to elevate potential emotional stress of constantly being in a deficit. Last weekend was my first time intentionally eating at maintenance and not only did my weight basically stay the same, which it should, but I didn't realize how hard it is and how hard it probably will be when I do reach maintenance mode. Let' see how this works.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/30-222.4 Weight basically the same from Friday even though I ate at maintenance this weekend.
10/31--222.6 Did not drink enough water yesterday. Finished W3D2 of C25K and stretched.
11/1--222.0 Did not drink enough water again yesterday. I'm not sure how accurate this weight is today. The first time I stepped on the scale my weight showed up as much lower, so I weighed myself 2 more times and decided to log the middle weight. I will take it as a positive that the highest weight was still less than yesterday's weight.
11/2--222.6 Feeling bloated but not sure why.
11/3--222.0 Up and down and up and down. I've been fighting a throat infection for the last couple of days so that may have had some affect on my weight the last few days, but then again who knows. I just have to remember that I can only control my daily calorie intake and output.
11/4--222.6 The roller coaster continues. Still taking antibiotics for the throat infection. Eating at maintenance today. My goal today is to get my water in.
11/5--222.8 Ate at maintenance yesterday, felt great and I think eating more really helped with my continued recovery from the throat infection. Finished W4D1 of C25K and had breakfast at a great diner this morning. Plan today is to stay hydrated and continue to rest. Eating at maintenance today.
11/6--223.7 Ate at maintenance yesterday. Extra heavy carbs=temporary water gain.
11/7--222.0 I'm more surprised about this number because I feel so boated today.

11/7 168.2 I'm having a really hard time eating properly right now, or should I say eating very much at all. I feel so sad for Mom. Her body has been through so much. My husband and our children are torn up, and I must admit, I am too, not just for all 4 of them (which definitely weighs heavily on me), but for me too. It's affecting me in ways that I can't express in words.

If anyone wants an example of the impact of sodium and water weight, here it is! In 12 days of traveling and eating out, I put on over 10 pounds. In the 11 days I’ve been home, I dropped it back off! Back to the inexorable trudge toward being simply overweight rather than obese! And finally on to a normal BMI!
Pre-challenges starting weight = 283 BMI = 48.6
Round 8/1: HW 274.4 LW 269.8 MidW = 271.9
Round 9/2: HW 269.4 LW 266.8 MidW=268.1

Round 20/13 HW 264.4 LW 254.0 EndW = 255.0 (the sodium whoosh after the trip)
Day/Weight/Comment
10/30 254.6 -- Starting out on a normal note for a normal 10 days! The 12 pounds “retrieved” travelling during challenge 19 successfully discarded once again in challenge 20! CICO with perhaps a soupcon of exercise ...
10/31 254.8 -- Basically the same as yesterday. Note to self: great gobs of peanut butter are not to be eaten with a spoon like pudding. If you aren’t gonna measure it, don’t eat it!
11/1 253.6 -- Me like.
11/2 251.8 -- A new low! First one since round 18! Now I am truly past the retrieved trip poundage. And this is with clothes on whereas previously was in my birthday suit! Huzzahs for CICO!
11/3 251.4 -- smile
11/4 251.4 -- same as yesterday. Two days of spanakopita with all that salty feta means some if it is water. Tonight I’ll make something less salty for supper.
11/5 252.4 -- late night snack attack blew through deficit and then some. Don’t do that, Heidi!
11/6 252.0 -- Did no post-diary snacking but a high sodium day for us.
11/7 251.2 -- Lowest yet!

@clynnwoodard You are up less than 2 pounds from the beginning of this round, I believe that’s probably mostly water from your change of routine and you will lose it quickly.
@nikki062181 I’m sorry to hear about your MIL. I agree with @cyranda63 there are no words. It will be a tough time for your family, for sure. I will be praying for you all.

10/31 - 160.1 Happy Halloween!! Been an off track last few days, but back at it. NSV: Wearing a size small today!! Just a sweater jacket, but small. Only size they had left super cute so I tried it on and it fit ok.
11/01 - 162.5 Day after Halloween. Ate less than 1/4 of treats I would have on previous Halloweens. Had Indian for dinner and my increase is probably due to that. Gave the last few kids tons of candy their eyes were huge!! Only had 15 kids and gave out regular sized bars. I figured if I had (1) regular bar that the would satisfy me and I would end up eating less and lose count on all those tiny ones. So over on cals, enjoyed the night. Did way way better than previous Halloweens. So I'm chalking this up as a win!!
11/02 - 161.1 Thought this was going to be way worse, having trouble with time manangement these last few days. Need to get to the grocery store and prep/plan dinners.
11/03 - 159.6 It snowed here a little yesterday evening. Made it to the grocery store and picked up ingredients to make a slow cooker stew for tonight. Friday night of cozying up with a bowl of stew (380 calories/ bowl) and a movie with the kids. Simple Friday!! Have a great weekend everyone!!

11/07 - 159.0 Got steps in, brought lunch to work for today. Tummy pains last night but better now. SO leaves on the first flight tomorrow morning, it's starting to get to him, been the longest stretch of months working away with only 3 days home

It's about the daily seemingly unimportant decisions. But consistently making them everyday is what leads to results. I love the way I feel at night & the next morning after having stayed on track.

1.no sodas
2.no bread
3.no unplanned eating out
4.drink at least 12 glasses water daily
5.eat protein every meal
6.reduce sodium intake
7.get more sleep
I've lost an average of 1.5 lbs. per round over the last 6 rounds! I'm going to see if these guidelines will make a difference in that average!

No way I was even going to try to go exercise feeling like that, and was scheduled to start work at 8:30 am. Trying to rack up a few extra hours to use on vacation in 2 wks. And wouldn't you know it, my second call was from a guy who sounded like he got up on the wrong side of the bed and intended to make everybody he came into contact with pay for it! I had to pray, pull out my bible, read a scripture, and pray again before my headache eased off! I fixed him though; I prayed that God would bless him with a great day!
11/07: 214.1
Slept much better last night, and got to bed early! Still didn't want to get up this morning, but I did! Got my exercise in, and even spent about five minutes on the elliptical! You know I felt awesome when I left. I've really been on the LCHF way of eating for about a week now; all I can say is, "So far, so good!"7 -

10/30 - 190.3 A good start
10/31 - 190.0 Not at all SPOOKY!
11/01 - Got up at zero dark thirty had to get to places, after sleeping maybe two hours cumulative. Completely forgot to weigh.
11/02 - out of town. no scale
11/03 - 190.3 A recycle of 10/30/2017's number. After two days out of my control and eating on the road I am not complaining.
11/04 - 190.5
11/05 - 190.5 Time to buckle down for a few days if I want to reach my goal for the round. It can be done.
11/06 - 190.0 Ooooooh so close. I can taste it!
11/07 - 189.4 - Can I keep this number and below!? Stressful evening planned! If I can get thru that (which includes a dinner) then there is a chance for tomorrows number staying on goal!
10/08 -
I would like to be under 190 at the end of this round.

Round 12: 174
Round 13: 171.4
Round 15: 166.8
Round 16: 164.6
Round 18: 164.1
Round 20: 165
Round 20 was a definite challenge, pulling me out of my comfort zone. Hoping to get back on track this round and focus on the daily weigh-in the next morning when I am tempted to go off the rails. Loving this accountability.
10/30: 165 Good day yesterday; got a run in and drank my water. Having trouble tracking, though. I get lazy by dinnertime and don't finish out the day.
10/31: 164.5 managed to finish tracking yesterday. Got in a walk with the dog and 30 minutes on my elliptical at home. My DH took apart the elliptical, cleaned it, fixed the fan so it works again... nice for those cold mornings when I don't want to drive to the gym...
11/1: 165.7 Not gonna lie. Yesterday I ate with... what did you call it, Heidi, Cyranda? ...reckless abandon. Today has not been much better. Gotta turn it around, and FAST!
11/2: 165.7
11/3: 165.7 My goal today is to not dip into the candy stash at work. I have half an apple and snap peas ready to help me do battle. If I want to see the scale go down, I need to get control of this sugar demon!
11/4: 164.5 Tracked yesterday, exercised, and did not eat one piece of candy at work. One day at a time...
11/5: 164.5 Tracked again, ate a bit over calories, but also put in an hour of exercise. Had a difficult time with the night snacking last night. Portioned out my chips and a little bit of wine to have with our movie, but my DD also made pumpkin pie and I had some of that, too.
11/6: 165.4 I am on day 5 of a new exercise routine with weights. Don't think I got enough water yesterday and went out to eat. I feel good, though!
11/7: 165.4 Ran on the treadmill for 35 minutes, no night snacking. Did not partake in office candy!

Hello my lovely daily check in friends!! Glad to be back and to see all of you regulars and all the new faces!!
SW - 182.4 - in March 2017
GW - 145- smashed this about 2 weeks ago. I'm currently trying to figure out my best calorie level to be able to maintain between 144 and 146. I'm pretty happy where I'm at weight wise and have some fitness goals I want to work on over the next 6 months or so. I dipped into the 143's last round...
10/29 - 145.6 - coming in from round 20. I've picked up a lovely fall head cold and haven't been moving much and not eating as well as I should.

Day/Weight/Comment
10/30 - 147.0 - BLEH!!! Feeling super bloated today. Still really run down from the cold. Jacking up the vitamins and going to get lots of water in me today to flush this thing out!! To much to do this week.
10/31 - 146.8 - Over did it a little (ok...maybe a lot) with the Popcorners yesterday...salty and carby is not helping to get rid of this bloat.
11/1 - 146.6 - SLOWWWLLLYYY chipping this back off...going to keep the salt and carbs down today...I promise!!
11/2 - Totally forgot to get on the scale this morning. The main hwy was closed due to a terrible accident all day yesterday so I went online and turned on the radio first thing to see if I would be able to get into my client today and messed up my regular routine...
11/3 - 145.4 - back in my target range...going to try the trails this morning and see how mucky they are after the rain yesterday...might be giving the dog a bath today LOL.
11/4 - 144.6 - Great run yesterday and did some major house cleaning...didn't stop moving all day. Probably didn't drink enough water, and had a few cocktails last night so some of this dip may be dehydration. Heading out for another trail run today, need to take advantage of outdoor exercise while the weather holds
11/5 - 144.2 - had another go go go day yesterday. Still trying to work out the calorie sweet spot for maintaining, especially on very active days.
11/6 - 145.8 - Homemade lasagna for dinner last night...totally worth it!!
11/7 - 146.2 - I'm just having a bloaty week....feeling puffy today.

10/31 - 155.0 I don't know why I am going up. Maybe not enough water intake?
11/1 - 155.6 ARGH... too much Halloween candy!
11/2 - 155.0 Not doing so well this round. No energy to excercise, so that is most likely the problem. Sigh!
11/3 - 154.2

11/5 - did not weigh in
11/6 - 156.8 - The weekend happened. I tried to keep the food to a minimum, but entertaining with friends so...

Interesting (in a good way!). I ate about 200 over my goal yesterday, but most of it in a big lunch out, which no doubt meant more sodium. I had no dinner, but a Kind bar and, late in the evening, a cinnamon raisin English muffin with peanutbutter. I more and more find that eating a big lunch (or breakfast, actually) and then nibbling a few hundred calories later works better for me than "normal" meals. Can't do that every day (hard to get the hubster to go for big lunches at home), but it would be interesting to try a full couple of weeks eating that way to see what happens. Anyway, always nice to start a new round with an encouraging drop! Good luck to all of you!
10/31 - 148.8
Happy Halloween! It's a scary day with all the goodies around -- I'm allowing myself one small Butterfingers from the trick-or-treat supplies. I plan to nibble and savor it. Otherwise pushing protein, whole-grain carbs, healthy fats, and lots of water. Planning a long walk this afternoon before the rain arrives. Have a great day, all!
11/1 - 149
Okay, I had 4 of the little Butterfingers, not 1, and they tasted great! :-) I ate a bit more than usual otherwise as well and I think I'm retaining water, so not surprised. But I happily think I'm firmly in the 40s now, so that's good.
11/2 - 149.1
I expected this (or more), and know a lot of it is water. I had a little splurge last night - spinach feta pretzel at Barnes & Noble and a couple of cookie samples. Also had mac & cheese for dinner, and I'm always up a bit after that. Back on track today and going forward.
11/3 - 149
Slowly, slowly, down we go....maybe I'll get to the 8's this round, but if I stay right here, that's okay, too.
11/4 - 149.1
Sodium. I went out for lunch yesterday and had a reuben and sweet potato fries, so I know I had a lot of salt. I wasnt hungry for dinner, but had a snack later. I went slightly over my goal, but not enough to gain anything but water. Tomorrow!
11/5 - 149
Back on track! I'm hoping for a little drop before the end of the round, but staying here works, too.
11/6 - 149.1
What is it with that .1 lb?
11/7 - 149.2
Sigh. I'm hungry all the time, so keep eating a couple hundred over my goal, clearly at maintenance rather than to lose. So I just did a little research on foods that make us hungry, and find that my egg whites, low-fat kefir, cheese, and guilty daily indulgence of licorice all sorts (!!) are all potential appetite stimulants. I just made a week's worth of low-fat kefir-egg white-overnight muesli breakfasts, so I'm considering how to add a bit of fat to my breakfasts to increase satiety. Anyway, if you're hungry all the time, maybe Google "foods that make you hungry" to see if a diet tweak might help. :-) (And right now I'm sitting in the B&N cafe resisting EVERYTHING but my water bottle!)

"fever on the belly" from the flu shot I got last Thursday, and this morning it made it's dramatic exit
11/4: 230----Saw 229 on the scale yesterday after being in the yard for 3 hours. But then ofcourse, I had to eat and hydrate. Happy with a loss, but I want to see the 220s.

That was really an unrealistic goal since a steady weight loss of .5 to 2 pounds per week is really all one should expect. Some folks are inspired by giving themselves unattainable goals to strive for, others are depressed by not reaching an unrealistic short term goal. I don't know which you are but make sure you do what works best for you in setting your challenge goals.
Some of us find behavioral goals work better like doing a certain amount of exercise or not eating over a certain number of calories. My goal each week is to keep at it and not even consider quitting!7 -

That was a first great round with a lost of 2 kilos in 10 days! Now here is to hope most weeks will keep looking like this! I love the accountability of that challenge and also how it helps you understand how your body works a bit better. I saw this trend before but I now know that I tend to lose weight over 2 days and then just stay kind of the same for a while. It happened twice in the past 10 days so I'm guessing it will only happen once for the next round but who knows!4
