I read every night no matter how tired I am even if it’s only for 15min. Usually read 3-4hrs. My books are my friends. It’s nice to go somewhere else once a day.
I'd like to ... but unfortunately by the time I go to bed, it's either a) get the whole 6 hours of sleep, or b) read and only get 5 and a bit hours of sleep.
I'm also the type who falls asleep while getting into bed half the time, so even if I do think "maybe I'll read a bit" my next thought is often, "Oh look, it's 2:57 am and I need to get up and use the toilet".

No more work for the next month ... except for 4 days in early January. A different sort of busy starts now!2
-
Janetr - Being old and naive right along with you. I thought Woo! was a good thing.
Heather - Such a diffficult time. I hope they can give here a good Christmas at home.
Meg - I love float therapy. I said I wouldn't go nude, turn off the lights or close the lid on the pod. Guess who does all of the above. Try having a little Kava beforehand.
Yesterday I came home early because of pain again. I don't like doing that.
Today, we took recycling, visited Costco and went out for Birthday supper for Kim.
I have not accomplished what I wanted over the last few days,
Really disappointed that the kit from ancestry.ca has not arrived.
We have lots and lots and lots of snow.

Hi, I did it! Plenty of drama included. Our leader started feeling dizzy (he has recently been diagnosed with Parkinsons) and he decided to turn around and go back. Me and another hiker went with him to make sure he made it and then we turned around and walked back up the big hill, so really I've done part of the Tongariro twice. LOL. Then a woman in the group walking in front of us slipped on loose shale and broke her ankle. They had to call in the rescue helicopter to come and get her. Two of our group fell in the same dangerous spot but luckily did not break anything. I slipped a couple of times but did not go all the way down. Then towards the end of the walk, one of our group who is diabetic started dropping. I think he fell three times even though people were walking next to him helping him. He'd been monitoring his blood and had glucose tablets and insulin but he still got out of whack. He was a first time hiker. We managed to get him back to the van and he came right after another insulin shot. I am BEAT. I walked for 7 hours with a pack, up some steep hills. Very good fun and made new friends. Another tick on the bucket list. Wendy

Holy shamoley, Wendy, that's a lot of drama for one hike... well done for making it!
Heather - I hope your friend passes on her terms, she sounds like an amazing human being.
I'm done with my last day of work now until the New Year. Corey and I are headed up to the mountains for at least one night, maybe two... just to wander, look for places we might like to settle. Getting up there in the wintertime is important, as we want to see it when the trees are bare of leaves as well. Fell in love with it in the fall, of course, it was gorgeous. You have to see a place at its worst too.
Hooked up my webcam finally... Need to get (or create) a room divider, as we live in such a small space that the camera only sees chaos behind me. Thinking of starting a podcast/vlog. Why not? Being on camera scares me, so like most things in this life that scare me (except spiders and snakes), I'm running toward it. Don't know if I'll actually have enough guts to put videos up where people can see 'em, but we'll find out now, won't we. It's a good project for ten days off... and it's paid days, which is a very good thing.
Got a few things I need to get done online, and then start packing for a few badly needed days of being just us again. It's when we do our best dreaming together...
Love y'all!

morning ladies~
again didnt sleep well, but didnt take my meletonin either
have to work 10-4 today, was going out with Doris ,but weather going to be iffy and need to make money where I can.
Tom not getting in until 10 o clock tomorrow..so will try and take as much stuff home from here today as I can ... have laundry in the dryer.... and will take a shower in a bit..2 -
OH...I want to use the WOO button so bad! We REALLY need something more enthusiastic than "like".
Wendy- You are my WOO-HOO!! I love that shot at the top of the hill/mountain; arms out and face smiling! Congrats!
Beth-Your home looks fantastic!
Lanette-My hubby does the same with me, in regards to the picking. Perhaps it is a side effect of the RA? Like you, I end up making my meals of all of the left overs in the fridge. I can usually make something different out of the left overs if they are basic, like a roast or a simple baked/grilled chicken. I will add a different spice and add it to a different side dish. My DYS calls it "fusion" food! LOL.
Well, one of the families that I interviewed with, called me last night and decided that they would like their child(ren) to come to my daycare! They have two boys, ages 2 1/2 and newborn. The 2 1/2 yr old has a daycare that he attends, currently; but the woman who runs the daycare home is retiring. So 2 1/2 yr old will begin on a part time basis to get used to me and the kids in January, the newborn will begin coming full time in February when mom goes back to work and the 2 1/2 yr old will begin full time in March when I will have room for him! So...it's kind of a "two-for"! Yea! I am full again!
It is party day, today. I have nine kids here (they tend to come out of the woodwork for parties). I have the sugar cookies baked and ready for decorating, but I need to make the frosting (because I forgot to buy some). It should be a crazy, but good day! AND...it will be over in ten hours and I get 14 days off!!!
DH's tooth is out. His face is swollen and he is miserable; but he has good painkillers that make him go to sleep! (Thank God) This tooth was one of his upper molars. His upper jawbone seems much stronger than the lower. Earlier this year he had a tooth out on the lower jaw and the bone splintered and kept coming up through his gums for about a month or so after the removal. I really hope this doesn't happen with this one.
Anyway! Gotta fly! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)4 -
Wendy ~ What a feat you have accomplished!
Kelly ~ Congrats on a new day care client. Can you manage a newborn with all the toddlers. Sorry about your DH's tooth. After having a molar pulled a year ago, I am hoping never ever to have another tooth pulled.
Heather ~ So sad about your BFF! Good thoughts and prayers for you and her.
Hugs for all who are hurting both physically and mentally!

Kelly I had no doubt you were gonna fill up your roster, you rock! Enjoy every second of your 2 weeks off, today alone will be a test of your strength, this is my last day before break and it's gonna be a long one.
DH is in a terrible mood, the holidays set him off horribly. I'm just ignoring it and going about my business. We've never had the happiest time together at this time of year, I've grown use to it I suppose. No regrets, he is actually quite good company the rest of the year, go figure!

Hi folks!
Got a lot on my mind at the moment, as you can imagine, so thanks for listening while I pour some of it out.
First though, I want to congratulate WENDY for her wonderful achievement! :drinker: Lots of drama!!!!!
My cancer friend managed to scald her arm while making tea in the hospital this morning. She said the b÷=×+ nurse was an angel. Waiting to hear if they have let her out.
Got an email back from the lady who died's daughter in law. The lady was Elizabeth, married to my mother’s cousin, who himself died just over a year ago. They sent me the Order of Service for her funeral and I did have a cry. So many memories. The strange thing is, Elizabeth hardly changed in all the years I knew her. She was much loved and spent her life caring for others. This is a photo from the leaflet of her holding her prize winning jam at the W I.
And here she is with Don, my mother's cousin.
Here is an extract from my memoir that is written from the point of view of myself as a child.
On we go. Occasionally we stop at Mannings Heath instead. At Aunty Barbara’s we usually get a cup of tea and a biscuit, but at Mannings Heath there is always delicious cake, cooked by Elizabeth, who is Irish and married to Uncle Don, my mother’s cousin. She puts ‘a spread’ out on the square table in the kitchen where she cooks on ‘a range’.
I love Elizabeth’s accent and she has rosy cheeks and plump, smooth skin. That is because of all the Irish rain, says my mother. “She is a saint,” she says, for looking after Aunt Jess, my grandmother’s sister, and Uncle Bert. They all live together in a bungalow called ‘Woodside’, in a road called Winterpit Lane. It feels like real countryside out there. Aunt Jess has angina. So she needs a lot of looking after. She looks a bit like my grandmother, but fatter. Uncle Bert has a strong country accent which fascinates me. He has gnarled hands and thick, dirty nails. I haven’t met many men who work with their hands. I look at them resting on his knees. His cheeks are bright, red-brown and shiny.
Uncle Don keeps trying very hard to be a building surveyor, but he keeps failing his exams. My mother says it is because he is not as clever as his brother Tony, who passed first time. Don doesn’t give up though. My mother admires that. (He did eventually pass.)
But more important than exams is the growing of dahlias and chrysanthemums. For Uncle Bert and Don it is the most important thing in their lives. The back garden of ‘Woodside’ is jammed full with the flowers, each one tied to a bamboo cane. After we have eaten the cake we always have to go out into the garden to inspect the specimens. They are truly a wonder. Some of the dahlias have a flower as big as your head. Others are like pom-poms in all colours. The two men describe how they creep out in the dead of night with a torch to find and squash the earwigs on the flowers. They hardly sleep in the season for keeping vigil. They grow the flowers to show in competitions and they nearly always win first prize. They are champion growers. My family admires the dahlias and chrysanthemums, because they are amazing, but we think they are crazy to spend all that time looking after them.
Thanks for listening, everyone. I am within 200 words of finishing the initial type up of my memoir, which might be why it has affected me so much. I am very much in that world at the moment.

Happy Friday before Christmas!
Pip, I so enjoy seeing your ornaments. You must have the funkiest tree in town. Love it.
Becca, the London pic reminds me of our Christmas in Madrid. Beautiful! Yes, I’m a cat lover.
Michele, good for you staying away from the cookies. Wish I can say the same. Eating out of control. It will be good to get out of work and away from all the goodies.
Karen, I think you should try and contact Wayne. I spent time with my cousin when little (he is a year older) but not as an adult until about 5 years ago when we reconnected. I’m glad I did as he is the only family I have contact with and I’m the only family he contacts. We both have sisters we don’t speak to and both our parents have passed. I love him and am so glad we have reconnected. My ex husband was always miserable during the holidays. It was because of his childhood. The holidays always brought up bad memories for him. Seems better now (or so DD says).
Machka, I’m usually in bed by 7 or 8 so that I can read until 11:00. Although first I check in with my MFP friends.
Sharon, looks like we are going to be right there with you as far as snow goes. Suppose to get a storm today. It has already started and I need to leave work earlier than I planned to get my tire fixed.
Wendy, I’m so proud of you! What an accomplishment. The view looks spectacular.
Lisa, I say go for the podcast but stay safe. Don’t give out any location info. You go girl!
Kelly, good news about the new family. What a nice Christmas present. Hope DH gets well soon.
((Heather))
Well, the snow is coming down. Guess it just couldn’t wait until I got home this afternoon. Thinking of all of you and sending my best wishes.

Good plan. In fact, I am usually more hungry when I'm tired ... it's the body's way of crying out for options to help it stay awake and functioning, so carbs are usually right at the top of the list because the body figures sugar might be a good choice to give things a boost. However, a 20 minute nap would probably be a better choice if a person can fit one in.
Over the last few days, I've picked up all sorts of running clothes. I have a massive heap of cycling clothes, but wasn't sure what to wear when running. Now I have a collection!
A friend has also loaned me a book about running.
I'm planning to have my gait checked and get the right shoes early in the new year.
And ... I'm off and running!
No, I am not giving up my cycling. In fact, I'm hoping that the running will give my fitness level a boost and that I will be able to cycle longer and stronger more easily.
We'll see.
So after leaving work early today (everyone did), I went shopping and amassed much of that collection of running gear.
I also picked up several different boxes of tea in different flavours as a very low cal treat ... and a whole bunch of baking supplies. I plan to bake over the next week or so! There's a reason I'm running and cycling.
My husband got off work early too, and so we stopped at a cafe we had never been to before for lunch, and then decided to go to a Thai place we'd never been to for dinner. Very nice, and we'd go back to both.
The lunch place had a music theme, and a woman was at a grand piano in the corner playing various songs, some Christmas, some of other sorts. It was a great way to begin the immediate holiday season ... sandwiches and lemon meringue ice cream while listening to live piano.
We were also very pleased to have discovered the Thai place ... it was recommended to my husband. We had tried a Chinese place in our suburb a little while ago, but didn't really like it. It felt straight out of the 1970s with an attitude that they didn't really care whether we stayed or got up and left. We have got a couple good Indian places, but wanted something a little bit different ... and now we've got it!
And now I must go to bed ... almost too tired to get out of my chair and walk down the hall!

well Auntie Jean met Alfie and of course Uncle Sean, and Buddy there dog, has a new cousin to play with...
Tom changed his flight so will be coming in at 1, rather than 10pm, so will be a whirling dervish when I get home tonight...

Good morning ladies. The surgeon gave me meds for my TMJ so hopefully I will be normal in a week or so. I have to continue my no chew eating for at least another few days. He said if I’m feeling up to it I can try soft food Christmas Day if I must. The upside is I don’t have to worry about holiday weight gain or food temptations. My weight had a nice drop this morning.
Have a great Friday!

It says Zalig Kerstfeest: merry Christmas in Dutch.5
-
Just noticed that the bulb I attached has wording on it. Anyone know what it says?
I'm guessing "Merry Christmas" because of the "Kerstfeest." Kerst looks like Christ, and while Feest doesn't look like Mass, still, that's my best linguistic major guess. :-)

Amazing job, Wendy. It sounds like an eventful but fun hike/climb.
Today is my last day of work for nearly two weeks! I am so ready to have some real down time. My husband is making me stress out about Mexico again. I don't know if you saw the news out of Cabo yesterday, but it was pretty bad. I really would rather stick with tours/organized activities so we don't accidentally run into the wrong area, and he announced last night that he just wants to rent a car and tour around on our own, and maybe take the ferry over to the mainland. The hotel sent us a list of activities to do, and he basically panned all of them, even SCUBA and snorkeling. He really does have a phobia about water. He didn't even want to do the whale watching because they take us out in a large rubber raft. Which I think sounds amazing. But he said he would be worried the whole time that he would fall in the water. So all water activities are out, which makes no sense, but renting a car and driving around is okay in a country where drug cartels string people up, literally. Makes even less sense. I'm pretty frustrated with him right now.
The good news is that I actually did real Christmas shopping this year. I didn't decorate much, but at least I wasn't grinchy about gift giving. I even sent money/cards to my husband's kids. We'll be at my mom's for two days, and my husband is giving me grief about that, too. He's trying to find something to do to occupy himself . . . on Christmas Eve. Seriously? That's the only full day we will be there, and my mom is planning a big dinner. I swear. That man is on my last nerve right now. To be fair, he is really stressed. He hates the management at his work and has been interviewing with another company for the past two weeks, and he doesn't know what to do if he's offered another job. Of course, I've told him to jump. Better to go on your own terms than someone else's, but he doesn't like change . . . I'm weary of talking about it every night.
I went to Centergy (kind of like yoga/pilates) last night and I have dance tonight. Then Saturday morning I'll spend a couple hours at the gym in classes, then at around noon, we'll head up to my mom's -- about 3 hours away. I'll wave at everyone in the NW as I pass, sort of, nearby as I drive up I-5 into the Olympic Peninsula.
Much love.

But I'm going to try to let it all go and just have a fun time in the sun. I am going into the water, somehow.2 -
Hi ladies. Let's see if this works:
Thanks Becca for the insight and for the cute cat cartoon. I have to run do some last minute errands now that our ice has melted. BFIN is coming over later to jump the Saturn (has a brand new battery and ran 2 days ago, now is dead) and to drive the jeep around for a while. Take care. Meg from icy Omaha3
