if im hungry after a certain time it didnt work telling myself no to food at night because i love night time eating, But i allow myself 200 calories of frozen fruit i save calories for (you get a surprising amount for 200 lol) And i eat little bowls of fruit. And if im hungry after that, Non starchy vegetables only. I do like those and sometimes ill still boredom eat them but atleast my snacking is nourishing my body nicely and giving me lots of fiber and water and keeping me from reaching for other stuff that totally throw me right off. No one gets fat off non starchy vegetables.
Telling myself i cant eat past a certain point doesnt work im to stubborn lol1 -
Yea I know don't work for me either lol thanks for the help.0

I have a full breakfast and moderate dinner, and rather than lunch, have one or two light snacks during the day. That leaves me with quite few calories for dinner and after. After dinner, I make a smoothie with frozen fruit (usually a cup of mixed berries and cherries or a frozen banana), an ice cube, almond milk, yogurt, and flavored protein powder. The frozen stuff makes it thick like a milkshake. That fills me up nicely and still leaves me with calories for a light snack after if I still want it. There's more than one way to deal with a nighttime snacking habit - I decided planning around it was the way to go for me.6

Hi Ralphone,
I snack too, especially at night. What I find helpful is not having “bad” stuff laying around and have plenty of low calorie options that I like ready in the fridge, like any fruit, carrot, cherry tomatoes etc. After that I have couple of crackers and two mini super thin slices of my favourite cheese before I go to sleep so the last I taste is savoury.
Another strategy I have for the evening snacking problem is that I split my dinner in two parts and have the second part later at night and closer to bed time.
Hope this helps.3 -
All great ideas. I did not do so well on Sunday. Kinda just had to many snacks over the course of the day. Today is a new day. Hope to do better today.1

I cant stress enough the get a drink instead of a snack and if you are still hungry in 15 then get your snack method.
The brain can and does mistake thirst for hunger
I had to just drop buying snacks cause i would buy in bulk and couldn't help but binge.
I can't eat what's not in the house4 -

My hubby and I love snacking in the evening after the kiddos go to sleep. I tried to get around it for awhile but now I just embrace it. I shift my calories around so I don't eat much in the morning, I eat light in the afternoon, have a nice big family meal in the evening then still have calories left for snacking at night. I try to pick "healthy" snacks (ones that fit my macros) but I find ways to fit cookies or cake in sometimes. Also, I plan what I'm going to eat before I eat it, because if I log food afterwards, it's always a horrendous fail. I'm awful at estimating calories in my head. Two pieces of pizza right before bed? I probably would have picked something else if I had logged the calories ahead of time.2

This. I would say being a snack type eater you're more prone to temptation making the likelihood of consistent calorie adherence ever more challenging. Just some food for thought.0 -
I have done well in past. I have used mfp for about 3yrs now I think. Started at 260 now 205 . I want to get to 180. Just feel like I am not doing so well recently.0

Draginger *kitten* today out late last night . I am a mess today .0 -
Maybe it's donut-day.
DH brought home 2 donuts; I should have just left them for the kids, but of course, I had a few bites.
That's AFTER I cleaned up the freezer a bit, and we didn't have enough room for the last few bites of the Ben&Jerry. (Truly: i was trying to squeeze in 5# lamb shank in there).
Tomorrow will be a better day.

Consider doing a short yoga workout or meditation to replace eating behavior with a new relaxing behavior.
Finish with a nice cup of herbal tea.1 -
