Yeah, there's a lot of that in hot button threads - sugar, carbs, fat, artificial sweeteners. Sometimes almost every post has at least one "woo". smh2 -

Exactly! And a lot of that is lurkers - 5 posts into the thread and there's already a dozen woo's. Like the people in the thread are players on the field and the fans are rooting for their favorite team

And of course, the assumption is that if I post a comment disagreeing with you, I must have been one of the people who used the woo flag.2 -

It was changed from "WTF" to "woo", after looking at the code I think it is suppose to be negative reaction to the comment.
To all the people I wooed in the success stories, the NSV threads etc. I am sorry. I meant "woo-hoo", not anything negative.
But in all seriousness, those things at the bottom of the message shouldn't bother you one way or the other.

No it is not, but a premium feature should be to get rid of all the buttons at the bottom except for the 'Flag' and 'Quote' buttons.12

Yeah, just about every time I post something about exercise, I get a Woo.
I know it's supposed to mean that what I've said is "too good to be true", but then I wonder if someone thinks it means "woo-hoo" and it's good.
So I choose to assume that the person doesn't know that "Woo" means "too good to be true" and is giving a "high-five ... woo-hoo".
I would prefer to change Woo to Dislike. Wonder if we can get the mods to do that.

Yeah thats the attitude to take, if someone woo's you its because they think its a good thing - normally a newbie faux pas.
I agree, woo would be better being changed to dislike - can't see the mods going for it, it might be too offensive!

Personally I think I get some woos because some people are low in reading comprehension. Instead of asking for further clarification of a comment, they give a woo.1

How I don't understand the meaning of 'hug'! To me it's 'ah hug, you're upset' etc, I see it as supportive rather than good/bad. A high five is more 'awesome' to me.2

It's hard to believe I have garnered 99 woos already. As long as we don't get "banned" based on # of woos I really don't care. At one point I think it was debated about doing something along those line.
I think it's a bit passive aggressive to woo someone because you disagree with them and then not state your point of view but the button is there and it's free speech and all that.

Hmm. I have literally never heard the term "woo" used as a synonym for BS or anything negative. That isn't a dictionary definition of the word woo. The emoji looks like surprise to me. I absolutely interpreted this as a cheer, like "woohoo!". If MFP means this to be a negative response, then it should be a very clearly negative emoji like a thumbs down, or it should be a term universally recognized as negative. I've clicked "woo" on posts and always meant it as positive.
Anyway, I'm glad I saw this post. I'll stop using the woo button.2 -
