@oboeing I cannot even imagine sitting in traffic 2 hours a day and doing all that you do! Oh my goodness, how could a person not moan and groan? LOL! Welcome to our little family here! There are so many insightful people with so many different life experiences, and a huge amount of support from all. I have to say, it's amazing to me that you put in 93 hours a week, have only one day off and you spend time prepping food! I don't know that I would even get out of bed!

it's tempting not to... haha. i do use that day (and friday morning as well) to catch up on my sleep for the week. it's not great for a set schedule, but i find i can't make it on ~4.5 hours 2 nights a week without spending 8-10 hours sleeping on my day off.... i've just learned that i'm my own worst enemy and i need to make healthy living a priority. workouts are getting squeezed in when i can, and i just want to be the best me i can be. (i turn 40 in a few months and have another 25 pounds to drop before then, so there's that motivation to hit it!) and thank you, i'm happy to be here!

@PackerFanInGB I never saw the post regarding the quilt lol!!!
You know I have days when I crochet where nothing goes right, I lose count, I lose my place in the pattern, I do too many or two little stitches and notice about 4 rows later and I have to pull out all the stitches I've done! The worst is when I fall asleep mid way through and when I wake up I have no idea what row or stitch I'm on lol!
And then I have to count the rows and if I'm working "in the round" which is basically rather than going back and forth you start in the middle and go round and round then it's almost impossible to know where you're up to it you've not put a row marker in lol

Putting it down and walk g away is the best thing to do lol
I'm so excited to see it

Not sure I'm going to stay under calories today...

You know that feeling when it's 4 pm and you have 24 calories left for the day...yeah, that's where I'm at. There was a Terra chips incident. Currently sipping on some sparkling water and deciding whether to spend my last calories for "dinner" on tomatoes, radishes, or cucumbers.

Progress, not perfection, right? Maybe I can work out some and earn some wiggle room.

I’m right there with you and I have a big meal planned. I’m not stressing either, I may go for a walk later and if I don’t I’m fine with that too

    14. Take out garbage :DI changed it but I didnt actually take it out. I will do this today
    15. Bed whenever :star:1:30am or something.

I think that's it seeing as it's already 3:47pm. Lol

Had a really good day yesterday. Spent the morning with a friend and her 3 and 1yo. We spent like 3 hours at the park. Boy was I tired! Got to spend my DH's break with him. Spent the evening cleaning and on my tablet.

This morning D was supposed to come to get his stuff at 10. Didnt actually get here until 11:45. They are supremely pissed at me. I dont know the full story but apparently, we cost them a large sum of money because they didnt come back. I know that this won't be the end of our friendship but it might put a damper on it for a while. D and I have had a few fallouts over the last 15 years. We always bounce back. I can tell that they are pissed because they won't let me help them. Instead of only making one or two trips with me helping, they'd rather spend all day doing it. Oh well. There's nothing I can do about it now I guess. I need to figure out a few things to do today though.

I can't wait for the DH to get home tonight. He'll probably be home around 8:30.

    Okay, anyway.

    JFT, 7/15/18

    1. Finish laundry
    2. Do dishes!
    3. Meal plan
    4. Meal prep
    5. PUT CLOTHES AWAY
    6. Food in the crock pot
    7. Nap

I guess that's it for the day.

You sound sad from your post.
    Big hugs for you.

Don't let them get to you. Things happen and if they want to spend the day being pi$sy then let them. Don't let them damper your day!

Make sure you don't emotionally eat! I hope you sound happier when you come back. Sounds like you really need cuddles from your DH!
But you can have my virtual hug for now 🤗

Oh, @Bex953172 Thank you for the virtual hugs! I really needed it. I've been in a funk all day. You are so right! I am definitely in need of cuddles. I haven't really done much of anything. I've been dragging. Really sleepy and just down. I feel like I lost one of my best friends. I know that everyone was wrong on different fronts. IDK I kinda knew it was too good to be true. Idk...Lol

But thank you for thinking of me!

    Quick question..
The nursery walk used to take me an hour from leaving the house to getting back home.
But today its only took me 50 minutes and I noticed were walking it quicker which is obviously good because it shows improvement on a distance or whatver
But now I'm only burning 167 calories for 50min rather than 200 for 60min?
Is that right? Should I just walk a different way home to get the extra 10 mins in again?

That doesn't seem right to me. If you're covering the distance faster, you're not walking for as long, true, but you should be using more energy while you're doing it (walking at 2.5 miles an hour burns more calories than walking at 2 miles per hour.) But I'm not an expert.

    Just for yesterday:
    1. Log everything I eat and stay under goal. Over by 4 calories. Not too bad.
    2. Drink 8 cups of water  Didn't even get this done. Drank diet dr pepper instead.
    3. Physical therapy morning and evening  I slacked on this and only did half of my exercises last night.
    4. Eat only when hungry  See: bag of Terra chips. To be fair, I WAS hungry, but not "entire bag of chips" hungry.
    5. Make risotto  Didn't have room in my cal allotment after all, so will have to make this on Tuesday.

Well, yesterday was Not Good. Back to work today, and back to taking care of my commitments to myself.

    Just For Today:

    1. Log everything I eat and stay under goal.
    2. Drink 8 cups of water.
    3. Physical therapy morning and evening.
    4. Eat only when hungry.
    5. Kitchen closed, brush teeth, and in bed by midnight.

That doesn't sound right to me either, how are you measuring the calorie burn? Do you use a tracker?

Weekly Weigh-In = When I'm active I eat back calories. My weaknesses: I love food... my sweet tooth, especially chocolate... portion control... FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). I weigh myself daily and log weekly / posting my Saturday a.m. weigh-in here. [My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.] No goal dates set ~ as long as my trend is downward, I get there when I get there!

    Age 60, 5'4.5"
    GW #1: 150 in a livable way = It's. Not. A. Diet.
    GW #2: 145 normal BMI
UG maintain: 140 - 145 [anything less will be unsustainable]

11/5/15 = 195.0 joined MFP with no real plan except It's. Not. A. Diet.

    2L of Water

    Outside 15 Minutes
    Walk or swim?
    Write in Journal

I had a nice relaxing weekend all in all. I just wish the weekends didn't go so fast. One day of cleaning one day of family time and it's gone! I took the Grands to probably 6 yard sales yesterday, it is so funny to watch them deciding on their purchases. Yesterday so many of the people holding the sale wouldn't take money from them. They ended up with a lot of stuff and I only spent about 17.00. I used to do this with my girls when they were little, I still remember some of the "treasures" they brought home.

I am determined this week to behave and eat properly so that I can get away from these 180's. I just keep hovering and I know it's because I'm not being as strict as I need to be on the food choices. I'm finding this time losing so much more difficult that the last two times I lost the weight. Partly because I am tired of cooking meals, I would rather just grab something quick. Maybe I need a wife LOL

My husband worked this weekend. He works for the Parks in the city, ensuring the flower beds are well tended, garbage is picked up, etc. On Saturday there was a ribfest happening at one of the parks and the city employees were invited to have lunch there. He was telling me it was a long line as it was quite busy. This "pretty woman" was behind him in line. She said to him, don't I know you, he told her no he didn't think so. She said I"m pretty sure I do, probably met at a bar. He let it go and said maybe, even though he hasn't been to a bar in a decade. A little while later the sun comes out from behind a cloud, she says Oh it's getting hot, unzips her sweater and leans into him. He's telling me this and you could see he is a little pleased that someone was flirting with him. I let him have his moment, I didn't say well she's a brazen hussy like I wanted to. I think that is a sign of great restraint LOL

@Bex953172 my oldest daughter was very sassy and one thing I did was threaten to put pepper on her tongue if she was being sassy. The threat worked and I don’t think I ever had to actually do it. One time though we were driving and she got sassy, I asked her if she wanted pepper. She pipes up and tells me I don’t have any because were in the car. Next time I was in a restaurant I took to go packs of pepper. I carried those packets in my purse for years and she knew it

I have one son who is a quick witted kid. And as can be the case he could sometimes go over the line to being disrespectful. He was also my most athletic. So when he became a teenager I told him that when he crossed the line and wouldn't stop he'd have to do push ups, no matter where we were. I remember times in the milk aisle at the grocery store, at a person' house, a parking lot (get the wipes out for those public places, lol) It was done good naturedly...never had to raise my voice or get my mama face on...he knew he had crossed the line and this just helped him reset. There was always a mom around who would say, "I'm going to try that!"

His quick responses could sometimes get me so flustered, I'd be laughing and correcting at the same time. We still laugh at the time he got me so riled up I said, "J, just shut your mouth and say "Yes ma'am"! He looked at me and exclaimed, "Well, how am I supposed to do that???" We all just busted out laughing.

My youngest was going through a sassy stage and one day I said, I'm putting apple vinegar on your tongue. Well, that did not work...he loved the stuff, haha! One day, he informed me that he was not going to obey me. I said, "Where's that sweet boy who is is respectful and obedient?" He said, "He's gone forever!"

And here we older moms stand today---we will never remove our mama hats---we are still needed...just in a different capacity :)

Took the weekend off from posting to be in the moment - went a little "off track" but steadying the ship and chugging on! Feeling less guilty about weekends like this and being more elastic. The next few months are going to be hard to stick to habits with all the moving upheaval - so one day, one step, just for today is going to be key.

    JFT Friday Recap
    1. Log all food :)
    2. Drink lots of water :)
    3. Eat when hungry - stop when full :)
    4. Cook dinner at home :)
    5. Be kind :)
    6. 10 wall push ups/bathroom trip >:) Dangit why cant I remember this!?

    JFT Monday
    1. Log all food
    2. Drink lots of water
    3. Eat when hungry - stop when full
    4. Cook dinner at home
    5. Be kind
    6. 10 Wall push ups/bathroom trip
    7. Bring more RX to work - call in refill to CVS

    Good Monday Morning!
I had a very good weekend health/life journey wise. @cschmitz110515 I am really finding that prelogging helps tremendously as well. I am always able to modify and adjust when plans change but already knowing what foods I am eating for the day helps me stay on track, or to quickly go back and remove something so I can have this new item. I actually feel it's helping me to cut down/cut out grazing...because I know I don't have room for it.

    Anyway, JFT, 7/16
    Walk outside (done)
    Strength training
Drink 8 cups water/hot tea (on my 4th cup)
Mindful eating and prelogging (yes, all planned out...homemade pizza and strawberry ice cream tonight, yum!)
Stop eating by 8:30 (have set alarm for 8:15 as reminder)
    Faith in Action Study
Quilting (didn't get to it this weekend, except I did decide to change patterns...for the third time, lol)

Have a fantastic Monday! Peace and joy!

It's a brand new week! Let's be purposeful, mindful, determined, and strong JFT. For those of us on a life journey, make good decisions for your whole being. If you've made poor choices today, then STOP! Make your next move to reset, start again...no matter the time of day! End well!!
    Peace and joy.

And here we older mom's stand today---we will never remove our mama hats---we are still needed...just in a different capacity :)

I'm really enjoying being an older mom, I can look back at the trying and frustrating times and laugh a little bit. I would do it all again and loved being a Mom when they were younger, but boy I'm glad to have grandchildren and adult children now.

That doesn't sound right to me either, how are you measuring the calorie burn? Do you use a tracker?

No just based on what MFP says.
So tbh it's not that accurate anyway

Does anyone know a good way to check calories burned?
After looking at a range of fitness watches I found an article saying that of the best ones tested the closest it actually gets to the accurate amount is 27% off actually calories burnt.
    And the worst being 93%!

So in eyes it's not worth it. Especially if I burn 100 calories and I could have only burnt 73..

I’ve seen this discussed a couple of times on here @Bex953172

Not sure there is an exact way but there is this formula you could try - bodyweight x .31 x miles. The poster suggested that was at a pace of about 3mph.

Otherwise I’ve seen this calculator link posted - http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/walking-calorie-burn-calculator.shtml

    Hope that helps x

Ah @toaljasa I am afraid this was my weekend...except for the losing five pounds part.
    2bej3sxzsatf.png

    JFT Friday
:star: Stick to the food plan
:grey_question: Stay in the green for calories
:star: Plan the weekends meals - include those beautiful litte red skined potatoes from Aldis
    :( 10K Steps sooooo close
 Be productive at work (I would like to go home feeling like I got something of value accomplished.)

I had an OK weekend. Didn't really go online except to check for family updates. I keep thinking of myself as being lazy because I did not get all sweaty, but I really did not do too bad. I winnowed out my hanging clothes, boxed and bagged up that and some other things that had been set aside during the week and got it all delivered to the thrift shop. Now I have to find one of the helping women groups for my nice suits.

We are pretty casual in my new job. When I interviewed I was dressed in a traditional (and new) suit and I was asked if casual dress would be a problem. "Heck no!" I answered, but I am finding it is a little harder to adjust than I thought it would be. When I was working for Oracle some of my peers came to work in shorts. I could never bring myself to do that. I blamed that on the air conditioning. ❄️ ☃ One day here about a week ago I wore some Capri pants in with a top and light sweater. During the day someone said "Oh, you look so comfortable," and for the rest of the day I felt like my clothes were wrinkled and I was under-dressed. My logical brain said, "oh that was a compliment because you are usually so work-like dressed," by my insecure self fought back hard. This is at a job where one day my director wore her running clothes all day because she had to drop off her car at the tire store and ran the mile to work. And the VP came down to visit us and wore Bermuda shorts and a sleeveless blouse because she was in Florida! I just have too many years of grandma looking at me with the stink eye cause I was going to the mall "in that" and then my first 15 years of professional work was with a very conservative culture appearance wise, Disney. All change can be hard.

I have been using Map My Walk for my distance and calorie burn. It is a free app, I can't afford a tracker that checks heart rate so this is the closest I can get. I have found that it is closer to my daughters fitness tracker than what MFP is.

I just compared my walk last night using this calculator and Map My Walk. Map My Walk said I burned 90 more calories than this did. I put it as level, and according to Map My Walk app, I did have some elevations so that might be the difference. Interesting.

It's hard breaking old notions of what is appropriate and what isn't. I am having the opposite problem, I have worked in a casual position for years and now find that this company wants more professional, I can't afford a bunch of new clothes so I'm "dressing up" what I have. I had that type of weekend as well and no I didn't lose 5 pounds last week either. I seem to be maintaining very well, just at the wrong weight LOL
