I know there is an update to the 220 that I have to do, so maybe that has something to do with it. I just got a new laptop at work and it's not letting me install the Garmin Express software. I guess my company blocked it which stinks because I had it on my old one and used it all of the time. I guess I will have to try from home tonight. Did I ever mention that I hate technology? lol2 -

This was high school and she would easily sell 10 to 20 boxes a day sometimes more.
That is a sad statement about our world today that kids can no longer go door to door in their own neighborhoods to sell things. We did it all the time as kids and it taught us a lot. My brother and I also had a paper route, which is also a thing of the past. I feel really sorry for today's youth. It is no big surprise that so many of them have troubles adjusting to social situations. Good for Skip for taking that initiative. Another example of why she is a great kid and you are a great Mom!
In the town where I live, it is ILLEGAL for kids to go door to door... $1000 fine. Seriously.
Now THAT'S taking crime seriously!! smh...
We only found out cause I sent my son out with his school fund raiser and someone actually made it clear they intended file a complaint if he showed up again. Did not believe it... till I looked up the law, and sure enough, it is real.
Where I live, there are solicitation ordinances too. In my city specifically, they need to buy a license to solicit door to door. Frankly, I think it is ridiculous. It truly doesn't bother me if someone rings my bell trying to sell something. If I don't want to buy it, I'll just say no... is that really such a bother?!
My assumption was that it more out of concern for the safety of the children? IDK, Maybe not.

What are Girl Scout cookies? At first I thought they were a brand and money went towards the scout movement. Are they homemade?
Crack. They are crack cookies possible of black out mind control.
Crack, I tell ya.8 -

My 935 and my iPhone occasionally get into little spats where they do not want to talk to each other. The only fix I have found is to reboot the iPhone. It has not happened since the last update though.
Maybe try rebooting your Google Phone? Can not hurt to try.0 -

I tried that. They just aren't talking. Oh well. First world problem, I guess.0 -
@lporter229 I had Garmin/Google Pixel XL 1 pairing issues a little while ago, when they just decided to completely refuse to talk to each other. These are the steps Garmin Support gave me -
1) Open Garmin Connect Mobile
2) Go to Menu > Garmin Devices
3) Press and Hold vivoactive
4) Remove Device > Yes
5) Go to the app Menu > Settings > Sign Out > Yes
6) Open the Bluetooth Settings on your phone
7) Remove vivoactive if listed from Bluetooth Settings
8) Open Settings on your Android phone
9) Go to Apps/Application Manager > Connect
10) Select Storage
11) Select Clear Cache
12) Restart phone and vivoactive (left is power button)
13) Re-pair your vivoactive with the Garmin Connect Mobile application https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/sPSLztj6QtA0y7ySlqmM5A2 -

I had a dreaded dentist visit this morning. The office was right next to a very pretty trail. The temp dropped into the 30s last night and we had thunderstorms right up until 5am. It made vary a very, very, very wet & muddy (but fun) run. I don't know if my shoes are salvageable. They are so very not clean and dry right now.
February goal miles 150 = 85.5 miles completed
3/4/18 = Alamo Half Marathon
1/27/19 = Miami Marathon11 -
@amymoreorless great pictures on your muddy run. Shoes tend to be salvageable in most cases.1

I always had issues with my phone (Android) talking to my 220. I had to delete the watch out of GC Connect app and add it back in to make the 2 finally synch with each other. The 935 seems to be synching to my phone app with no problems so far.0

@lporter229 I also had a lot of trouble with my 220 and Android (Motorola). My 220 finally died and now i use a 230 with no problem.
@amymoreorless love the photos! The mud will wash off, mostly, and they'll be fine.1 -

Pretty dreadful ski conditions. I am going to take me skis, but I don't have high hopes for getting any skiing in. Also going to take my trail shoes. That might be a lot more fun!
Disclaimer: I'm not a skier. I may or may not have put on ski clothing one New Year's Eve though, to ride a motorcycle up there to drink hot chocolate and sit by the fire in the lodge. THAT was a cold ride.
I am from Pittsburgh and Seven Springs is actually where I learned to ski! I have not been there in years though. Deep Creek is not that far away. They will likely be making snow, but I have no desire to try and ski when it's raining and everything on the ground immediately turns to ice. I have tried that before and it's pretty miserable. I think I will try and hit some trails for running and hiking. And I am sure that my legs will still welcome a few long soaks in the hot tub.
BTW, the hot chocolate motorcycle ride sounds like fun!
Sweet I grew up in Somerset County. I vote for the hot tub too, though!
We used to do a lot of crazy rides like that - before kids, and before we were even married actually.1 -

@girlinahat
They are extremely overpriced cookies, but the girls keep a fraction of each box they sell. In my area they are $4 to $5 per box.
If I am asked personally by a scout I will buy 2 boxes. I recommend Thin Mints straight out of the freezer. My husband’s favorite are somoas.

Nominal challenge goal: 100 miles
Real goals: Transition from recovery to base building by end of month. Give myself a chance to start and complete Boston 2018.
Today's notes – It snowed this morning. The grass got a coating, it didn't stick to the roads or the part of my driveway that gets sun. The shady part of the driveway got a coating. What with one thing and another, I didn't get out to run till 5 PM; by then the snow was gone, and it was a balmy 35º F (2º C). Went out to run 6 miles or so, but a bit past 3 miles my quad told me I hadn't run 3 days in a row in a long time, recovery isn't always linear, and perhaps 5 miles would be enough.
I listened, took the short way to a 5.2 mile route, didn't bother with a fast finish, and made sure I stretched and rolled afterward. Perhaps part of the issue was I missed stretching after yesterday evening's group run; I got caught up in post-run socialization.
Anyway, I really enjoyed running in nice running weather with nothing hurting today. Looked at the stats, and my ground contact balance time was OK; so I think I backed off soon enough. And I *did* run three days in a row this week, for the first time since last November.
Haven't decided what I'll do Saturday yet. I'll think about it on my rest day tomorrow, and probably leave my options open to pace up to 14 miles at 7:30 AM, or pace 7 miles then drive across town for a 4.4 mile race with 10 AM gun time. Might not make the final decision till after I pace the first 7 miles.
2018 races:
February 17, 2018 Freezeroo #5 (Valentines Run "In Memory of Tom Brannon" 8 Mile) (Greece, NY) finished in 54:48

It was another icy day today, but finally got above freezing this afternoon so I got a short run in. I was planning on 4 miles but only got 3.2 done. It was really cold for me but it wasn't sleeting or raining and the streets were wet and had some slushy spots, but no ice. It is supposed to rain all day tomorrow so I may still be a little short of my goal this month. I have gone over my goal every other month and this is the first month that I didn't give myself a buffer for bad weather or sick days so I guess it is ok to miss my goal.

It was -4C when I started and -7C when I finished. Chilly for the last mile or so and I should have started about 20 minutes earlier as it was very deep twilight by the time I got in. Pretty sunset though. With all the melt today and tomorrow, Saturday's run will be icy so I'll have to think about routes.

Long day at work today and tomorrow will be even longer. I thought I would get to the gym as scheduled to run and lift weights. Stopped after 2.7 miles on the treadmill because I wasn't feeling well. My BG was dropping fast and I felt like I might vomit (not a common hypoglycemia symptom for me, but maybe because I'm tired). Sometimes workouts just aren't good. So I skipped the rest of the run and skipped weights.

Sorry to have been really MIA. In short I effed up my leg pretty badly when some idiot almost hit me with his car as I ran highway home- my right calf was so bad it couldn't bare weight and my left hip flexor, which has been dodgy for a while, went full on. Had to stop running for a week to have a shot at being able to toe the line at my 50 this past Monday.
The race was...interesting. Anyone who follows my blog or IG has already read the recap of my knee deep snow adventure at the opening ultra for the year. Majority DNFs throughout the field, some drop downs to the 25k distance, conditions were reported by the RD and creator as the worst in its 31 year history. The course record at this 50 is 3:30 and change and the elite men that hung in were running around 5 hours. The most elite female and overall gender winner was just under the 6 hour mark. Me, my inability to yield and my very questionable leg situation banged it out in seven hours. It was a rough seven hours because it was basically like post hole breaking trail the whole damn way. I have been told its never like this...lucky me haha! Despite my ridiculous time it seems that I am the first place female on the open (18-39) category (awaiting the official designation from the Alberta Ultra Series but the raw results are pretty cut and dry)- go figure
Because of all the time I had to take off for my stupid leg injury I won't even touch goal this month but I'm cool with it since I have somehow managed to rehab my left side. On to tuning up my training for JaJa- not going to lie though, my eyes are very firmly set on Lone Wolf. I need some ultra redemption after the *kitten* show on Monday.
Anyway big love everybody, I'm not dead haha
